We the people do hereby support Rep Rush Holt's paper ballot bill and demand that electronic voting machines be banned in order to ensure that our votes are not tampered with as evidenced by increased news of election fraud in the news everyday.

Jeffmr1, on 01/10/2008, -3/+5I don't understand why they're raising the money. Only the candidates' campaigns can request a recount. I'm all for paying for a recount, but Ron Paul would have to agree to it first. Also, Sutton county was a hand counted county, this shows that not only should electronic voting be closely monitored, but also the hand counted ballots.

ApocOne, on 01/11/2008, -1/+0I'm not too sure... I love Ron Paul, I like the idea of a recount, and I'm not 100% on the validity of the NH primary (but occam's razor leads me to believe that NH just isn't the live free or die state I was hoping it was, and just full of sheep)......

HOWEVER, I feel like:
1) If we raise the money for a recount now (I donated 500$ btw), a lot of people will be discouraged from donating in the future if the recount proves Ron Paul was at ~8%. It will make it a lot easier for people with malicious intent to actually do something in the future, and by then 99% of you will feel like you donated once and it didn't matter. Please do not donate with the intention of seeing Ron Paul win or even get a boost, go into it thinking it's about the importance of the democratic process as a whole. In other words, "stay the course", we may have to raise money for more recounts in the future, regardless of what an NH recount will prove.
2) If they wanted to rig the elections, I'm not sure how much good a "hand" recount is going to be. There are so many middle men involved in these counts and in the voting process in general, it's way too easy to rig an election and make sure it stays rigged.

jdieter, on 01/11/2008, -2/+1damn. what are we, Al Gore. Face it. The system is run by rich greedy sycophants who don't want anyone else to be rich. If everyone was rich, who would they be able to boss around? Who would raise their children and mow their lawns? we would have to import poor people from Mexico or something.
