- projectstartrek, on 10/10/2007, -2/+35Ummm, do you actually LIVE in the DC area? I do, and there isn't.
- MasterThief117, on 10/10/2007, -2/+30I live there too. I have no ***** idea what you are talking about.
- otakushark, on 10/10/2007, -3/+31FTA: "Each time a Left Behind player kills a UN soldier, their virtual character exclaims, "Praise the Lord!" To win the game, players must kill or convert all the non-believers left behind after the rapture."
Ah, Christian values at work... - cindylauper, on 10/10/2007, -5/+32The Neo-cons believe that Armageddon (hence the fierce support of Israel) will begin in their life times...and they are doing their best to start it.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+26He's probably claiming all the domed buildings, great marble pillars, the GREEK, ROMAN and STONEMASON designs are actually Christian symbols and artwork.
- z00k, on 10/10/2007, -22/+40I for one, Would love to shoot Jesus in the face a couple of times.
- Fracture98, on 10/10/2007, -2/+20When the Rapture comes... can I have your car?
Seriously... the world without Christians... remind me again who is supposed to be getting the raw deal after this little fantasy occurs? - g30ff, on 10/10/2007, -3/+20If Canada ever does decide to go after the Baldwins, I sincerely hope they start with Stephen. What a knob-cheese.
- mickeythacker, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18Art is a little bit different than sponsoring it directly on a government controlled website.
- stklaw, on 10/10/2007, -4/+18Religion FPS!
hmmmm.... - realclark, on 10/10/2007, -4/+17you kill him then you think the games over......but wait....he gets resurrected, then u finish him for good
- JoeNapalm, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15Do they just not teach the Constitution in schools, anymore? Your statement is false - the intention of the authors of the Constitution was clearly to keep the Government out of Religion and vice versa. The Government cannot Constitutionally endorse ANY religion. Period.
-Jn- - IRoaChI, on 10/10/2007, -3/+16I always thought it was Illuminati and Mason symbols, and the Christians stole everyone Else's symbols anyway, they didn't invent any.
- scabbers, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14Rapture obsessed Christian soldiers sounds a lot like jihadi suicide bombers.
Is Jack Thompson going after this game? - pintomp3, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14praise the lord = allahu akbar
the religious right and the taliban are two sides of the same bloody coin. - bugsy187, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11Even if there were religious artwork "everywhere" in DC, the US government should be neutral on religion.
You see, leaders can easily exploit religion for their own agenda. It can be much easier than making a rational case. People get scared or try to play it safe and fall into line. With thousands and thousands of passages in the bible alone, simply finding the right one to justify slavery, colonizing inhabited lands, or stir up bigotry for political ends is simple. - thenativeraver, on 10/10/2007, -4/+12"Finish Him!!!"
- mpn401, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10BIBLE ADVENTURES!!
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Exactly.
Even if the born-agains were accurate in their ideas about the nature God, I would rather go to hell than spend eternity in the presence of that celestial dictator. - Elranzer, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Finish Him!... Mercy... Finish Him!!!... Animality?
- IRoaChI, on 10/10/2007, -4/+11How ? by finally sticking up for people who don't want religious dogma shoved down their throats and forced on them by their government?
It's wrong for me to say all religious freaks should be killed, yet it is ok for them to say that atheists, homosexuals, free thinkers and people of other religions should die? Where is the freedom in that? To me it translates as "Freedom for the religious , no freedom for common human. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8These are stonemason symbols. Most educated people back then were Masons including the architects and people who designed the city. What is your point?
- ToadLeg, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9"What exactly is "faith-based entertainment"?"
According to the government, cult propaganda. - thenativeraver, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9waah.
- Koldkompress, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Man, Jesus was such a *****' emo.
"GO ON, HATE ME, EVERYONE HATES ME ALREADY!" - Beevo, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7This isn't the same thing as government sponsored religion. This is a religious group (NOT funded by the government) joining a DoD program, and sending stuff out. When I was stationed in Korea we routinely got things like that, it wasn't forced on us it was simply put out during morning formation that "there are care packages put out by group _______ available at the MWR (Morale, Welfare and Recreation) building for anyone who wants one." The government doesn't pay for it, it just allows the organizations access.
- kaelyiesta, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7No, you have to give blow jobs to other guys then get away with it, while at the same time condemning homosexuality.
- rationalist, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8Excuse me? I'm in the industry, I played the game, it rewards you for killing people like me and my kids. Sending it to US troops, who are already recruited using video games such as America's Army, and trained using video games from a variety of DoD contractors, it sends at least a confusing message, at worst a covert command to view my kids as covert warriors for the Antichrist. It ***** rewards you for killing them, which is a hell of a lot more "fun" than "converting" them.
The visceral rewards in the game are all with the violent solutions - not that forcible conversion at the barrel of a gun is exactly peaceful.
This is totally *****, along with the summer camps the same people who are distributing this game run for little kids, teaching them to shoot automatic weapons in preparation to "fight for Jesus" in the End Days, killing non-believers like me and my family.
Don't ***** trivialize this. It's one thing for a lame and poorly executed game to be made - I support the First Amendment and the right of these ***** to make whatever game they want, and let the marketplace decide.
But for my tax dollars to pay to send this to soldiers in Iraq so they can transfer their aggression to American atheists and other non-Christians? NO thank you.
It is most definitely NOT a fabrication. - dragonworks2050, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Sigh. Tim LaHaye has done more to destroy the credibility of Christianity than any atheist. Please don't judge all Christians by the crazies.
- lateralus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5that's hawtt
- Fracture98, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Nah. He did some of the voice work...
- geoboy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I've heard Jack Thompson's opinion (not that I really care about what his opinion is) about this game in a TV interview. He called the game a "wolf in sheep's clothing". I actually got the impression that violent video games under the guise of religion upset Jack Thompson more than your average violent video game. At least the douchebag is consistent.
- LordSlashstab55, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5standard operating procedure
- LaSepultura, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6I'd rather put my balls in a crocodile's mouth while sticking my head up a unicorn's *****!!!!
- ICSU, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4my sins, riiight
- rationalist, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8Not just "UN soldiers", American atheists are targets in the game as well. This is our government sending training games to US soldiers to teach them to kill US atheists.
The folks behind this care-package also run militaristic summer camps for little kids, training them to use automatic weapons to kill atheists for Jesus in preparation of the coming End Days. Research it yourselves, because you won't believe me no matter how many links I provide.
This is the new KKK, the difference being that they operate inside the Pentagon with government sanction, and their target is not non-whites, but non-Christians - and they consider most self-titled Christians to be heathens, too, so don't think you're safe - you're just secondary targets, after they run out of our atheistic bodies. - pintomp3, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5he might be referring to the separation of church and state.
- tech42er, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Technically, that's not on the Pentagon site. It's on a site that links to the Pentagon site.
- babylonian, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5As best I can tell, americasupportsyou.mil was just posting the news that Operation Straight Up Tour was sending this (terrible) game to troops. The government had nothing to do with it.
- kaelyiesta, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7Agreed. The probabilistic existence and logical existence arguments aren't even worth discussing. Strictly on moral grounds, I would without hesitation tell god to go ***** himself. He is the most evil ***** that ever didn't exist.
- kaelyiesta, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Why a unicorn, out of curiosity?
- Afreyt, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4You're supposed to suffer for your faith.
- Batfishy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5That is why there is little interest in global warming or renewable energy.
- PieterOpie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3First they push a "join the army" simulation game to attract kiddies into the army and now this crazy god stuff..... they don't go together - or do they? Isn't the Government involved in enough "games"!!!??? I want someone to write a game called "IMPEACHMENT WASHINGTON". I'd play it. There are so many characters to get rid of you could play for such a long time. It could include all sorts of extras I will not mention because all of this is being monitored and they lack a sense of humour. They take everything so seriously; like terrorism.... What a waste of time that is.
- rationalist, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Actually, the issue is that government sanction and funding was involved. Otherwise, the DoD would not have been able to abruptly stop the plans to ship the games to troops when ABC started inquiring about it (after this broke on dailykos).
This was basically the government training American soldiers to kill American atheists, among other things. Read up on the group behind this, and learn that that is exactly their agenda. They are putting a lot of effort on reaching young kids, too, creating militaristic summer camps where little kids learn to kill for Jesus in preparation of the End Days. - luther70, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Satan has all the best coders.
- kaelyiesta, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4First time I've seen it.
- ThePixelator, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3your comment would have been awesome had it not been for the "and do people actually listen to them?" which made it really dumb.
just tellin' ya - Koldkompress, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Japanese RPGs have been doing that for years
