- vuke69, on 10/20/2007, -3/+87Mongo take sign. Mongo big man now.
- revo764, on 10/20/2007, -13/+73If this says anything is that whatever the Paul supporters are doing, it's working great.Look at how they're acting? Levin has a maniacal fit, and now this. I would say they are worried about Paul. Keep it up lads.
Viva la rEVOLution - Fabc001, on 10/20/2007, -6/+53You just about feel sorry for the retarded goon, sent on a mission from Rutherford to teach those Rp supporters a lesson by stealing a sign, the poor goon didn't realise that his actions and mug shot were going to be beamed around the world the next day.
- JigoroKano, on 10/10/2007, -7/+49I think the bigger news is that there was a black guy in support of Ron Paul.
- CannibalTom, on 10/10/2007, -3/+26Intelligence knows no colours.
- Albionshores, on 10/10/2007, -15/+37Did anyone else notice that the supposed internet Ron Paul geeks looked decidedly run of the mill, family based everyday and broad based and from every walk of life kinda folk?
The argument that this is an internet movement that has no merit in the ballot box has been shown wanting. - jugger74, on 10/10/2007, -5/+21Filled with fanatical spammers? But I thought these people didn't even exist.I thought it was just a small group of internet geeks rigging the online polls.
First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.
Mohandas Gandhi - DonWigler, on 10/10/2007, -7/+22"First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win."- Gandhi
- BlacklabelSAR, on 10/10/2007, -4/+18Agreed that this video is incomplete as being able to draw a conclusion....
But having said that, those of you who bash Ron Paul out of habit, how do our Founding Fathers rate in your view? They were considered radicals and traitors by the British Empire and heroes by the US citizens, funny that. - jugger74, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16What is more interesting is how you don't have a video showing any of the things you listed off and yet you commented like you did. So don't you look either quite foolish or quite dishonest. (srry about the double post)
- rabidmonkey1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14Yeah, but what's wrong with being a constitutional geek?
- senatebuddy, on 10/10/2007, -6/+19Ok, now I am a staunch supporter of Ron Paul, but this digg is just sad. Who cares about Mongo stepping on a sign?
- Albionshores, on 10/10/2007, -11/+22Only the Paul supporters weren't acting goonish. Watch the video.
- Lister169, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13"Come and see the violence inherent in the system! Help! Help! I'm being repressed!"
- JiMiThInG, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12Are you guys sure Rutherford had a hand in this? He is my local Senator, from my home town. While I'm normally a stanch democrat I like him quite a bit and have voted for him several times. I have a hard time seeing him riping a sign from someones hands. Also the video just shows the goon standing on it... not the sign being ripped from anyones hands.
- satanatnmtedu, on 10/10/2007, -7/+17I notice that we did not see what happened to reach this point. Some of the people there were being jerks others were not. Where does the guy standing on the sign fit it? We don't know from this video. But, since the preliminary actions and the taking of the sign are not shown, I think there is something to hide in this little bit of attempted propoganda.
- onetruejp, on 10/10/2007, -5/+15what are internet users supposed to look like then?
- reaganluver, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9The labor movement has nothing to do with government, Ron Paul would never stand against their right to freely assemble
- PeppermintPig, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8I believe everybody interested in this thread would like to see more video. Was this interview recorded? If it was important enough to rip a sign away from a guy, I would bet it was.
- bushesbitch, on 10/20/2007, -0/+8traitors are coming out of the woodwork !!!!!! expose the cfr loving scum for what they are !!!
- JacksonBlack, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9You're being particularly dishonest when you say that someone wants to get rid of environmental regulations as though it's a bad thing when his actual position is to make pollution of the air and the water totally illegal as a matter of property rights instead of "regulated" in such a way that you can't sue the polluters who stay within standards when you get cancer.
- eean, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9I was involved in the 2004 Howard Dean campaign, the original "Internet candidate". If Digg had been around in 2004, people would have been complaining about all the Dean stories making it to the front page.
Thats what people organized over the Internet look like. - thechitowncubs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Actually the sign taker was the one doing the disrespecting, not the Ron Paul supporter. And also, the guy in the Vick shirt is a nice guy and actually can explain what he believes in, and I doubt animal abuse is one of those beliefs. I was there that day and you guys are playing the wrong cards here.
- xenixninja, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Yeah, trying to solve issues with violence has worked out so great before. Just look at how well it goes in the Middle East. Just perfect. Violence is always the correct solution.
/end sarcasm - WiseWeasel, on 10/10/2007, -4/+11If you think the most defining characteristic of a candidate is their political party, you're being taken for a ride...
- NoPis10, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9I'm the guy with the long brown hair in the brown shirt towards the middle of the video when we all are chanting. I never saw the guy take the sign but I remember him. He had a permanent cartoon frown.
And no Ron Paulers were being mean or rude! We were just chanting and trying to make ourselves heard! In fact most of the time we were being quite nice when they were outright discriminating against us. - DaSuHouSe, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8On a side note, the Founding Fathers believed in a small federal government whose primary purpose was to command the military for defense, maintain diplomatic connections with foreign governments, and legislate interstate commerce. Clearly our government has moved away from that purpose over the years.
- Albionshores, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I agree it would be nice to see what ran before it but what we do see is one guy surrounded by Ron Paul supporters, only he is acting like a goon. They don't rush him, one guy simply says fine I'll use this sign instead.
- AARGH2K, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10Buried as inaccurate, as the video shows nothing, but some guy standing on a sign. How he got there, beats me as we get a nice cut of the tape just showing him standing there.
- Chakat, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8As opposed to being slaves to the great church of the state, right?
- Chakat, on 10/20/2007, -2/+8Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the act of forcefully removing something from someone's possession assault? If I were the sign holder, I'd be trying to see about charges being filed here.
- Mothrog, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I watched the video. The video doesn't show what led up to the guy standing on the sign. Why's that?
- wtbuser, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Unlike other politicians Paul's personal opinion on drugs, abortion, prostitution and the like doesn't compel him to write or sign legislation for it and that is because the constitution doesn't provide him the power to regulate such. If that is anti-choice then the constitution is anti-choice.
- LordSlashstab55, on 10/10/2007, -6/+12knock knock
Who's there?
Hired goons. - PeppermintPig, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7If there is more video, please post it. All I see is a goon stepping on a banner. Many conclusions can be made, but video evidence speaks the loudest thus far.
- Albionshores, on 10/10/2007, -5/+11"Did anyone else notice that the supposed internet Ron Paul GEEKS looked decidedly run of the mill, family based everyday and broad based and from every walk of life kinda folk?"
They didn't look geeky like people opposed to the constitution would have you believe.
They looked like normal everyday people. Normal everyday people with families and who come from all walks of life like the idea of a constitution and support a candidate whose voting record is always in accordance with the constitution and the Ron Paul support platform is not a small spamming community of geeks however much people in the pockets of corporations tell you that it is.
http://images.google.co.uk/images?hl=en&q=geek&gbv=2 - Albionshores, on 10/10/2007, -5/+11We know that the guy standing on a sign was surrounded by families and was acting like an ass.
- blix797, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7He was obviously trying to start a fight so the media would catch it and demonize ron paul supporters. The crowd was smart for not punching this guy in the face, even if he deserved it.
- SouthsideIrish, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6This guy is bad! He was the one who sent the Illinois State Police after people who faxed him after he wrote an anti-gun bill. Disagree with him, and he is going to harass you. This is one evil man, and the Republican party is this state is pretty evil as well.
- j.carcinogen, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7The thing is that the who took down the sign is Romney's Illinois chairman.
Read last paragraph: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/northwest/chi-gop17aug17,1,7585186.story - rabidmonkey1, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8He didn't have the authority to do what he did, regardless of the situation. If they were giving an interview, he can block people from interfering - not remove and damage their personal affects.
- Mothrog, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Roe v. Wade should be repealed. Try actually reading the decision. It is absolutely baseless nonsense.
- LordSlashstab55, on 10/10/2007, -9/+14*correction The anti-RP movement on digg are a bunch of spammers and nuts
- darkcooger, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6@subman697: Basically what I hear from your post is that you don't actually have or know of an article. If you want people to take your claims seriously, you'll have to present evidence. As it is, the only evidence that has been presented is the video. You believe there's a hidden, untold story? Then show it to us so we can have all the information too.
- gotamd, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Do you have a link to the interview showing the disruption? It's obvious that this video starts after a lot of the main action occurred, but I'd like to see for myself.
- HowieHardcore, on 10/10/2007, -4/+9Wow the RP Haterz are out in force today. We must be really getting under your skin. Sorry to irritate you so much. By the way, even though this video is incomplete the story written by the Chicago Tribune is the thing that states the State Senator in Illinois ripped the sign away from the RP supporter, which is very uncool. Romney should fire that guy immediately to distance himself from such unprofessional behavior.
- PeppermintPig, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6You've been trolling Ron Paul threads for a while now, and you thought it would end? Hahahaha!
- AlpineJones, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I was the guy filming. The reason you don't see the whole story is because I did not think to film the whole situation until after the fact. So you will just have to take my word for it. Read the Chicago Tribune article for confirmation.
- NoPis10, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5if you look in that video you will see my ass moving so how about you stop hating.
- wtbuser, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I was there that morning only till 20 minutes after the poll opened. Rutherford was nice to us but obviously didn't want to be seen talking with us because of our Ron Paul shirts. One of the guys with us even used to be a poll judge for Rutherford or something and still we hardly got the time of day, he was staunchly supporting Mitt Romney. The storm came and we had to drive back to the St. Louis area for work so we missed all this mayhem. However, everything I've heard is that Rutherford was trying to give an interview to a reporter and a few people said Ron Paul in the background and had signs in the background and he proceeded to steal a sign and handed it to that goon. I don't promote ruining interviews but signing waving is the least offensive and they should expect at least such when at a political rally for all candidates.
