- IrishJoe, on 10/23/2008, -0/+16It was a lame joke, but Gingrich should read up on Supreme Court's rulings on parody and satire. Particularly the Larry Flint case which also involved jokes about incest and a public figure. The SCOTUS found that parody (even in bad taste) is protected speech and cannot be the basis for slander. If Gingrich knew half as much about history and he thinks he does he'd know that.
- LeftieLucy, on 01/09/2009, -0/+15I think Gingrich is just throwing red meat to the base - he knows he's lying. Palin has now APPEARED ON SNL, fer cryin' out loud. The Republicans can't have this one both ways - either it's slander, and they should have been denouncing it from the start, or it's harmless fun and she can go on the show to prove she's in on the joke. Obviously, Palin made her choice.

- seefleur, on 10/23/2008, -0/+4"Newt" is so aptly named, but think of all those other newts who are offended by this irony...
- hawkeye17, on 10/23/2008, -0/+4Newt is Exhibit A of what started this country down the path of disaster we're on now. It's been all downhill since the "Republican Revolution" of 1994. Go back to being a has been Newt.
- pennsykid2000, on 10/24/2008, -0/+3Of course, Newt was a major part of the Republican leadership who thought lying about a consensual sexual affair was grounds for impeachment of a president, but lying about the existence of WMD's and ties to al-Qaeda in Iraq to lead the country to war is not. That speaks volumes about their priorities and partisanship, to the detriment of the country.
- Coven, on 10/24/2008, -1/+4Not to mention he was having his own affair while he was leading the march against Clinton back in '98
- Superperson, on 10/24/2008, -0/+3Something I think is "worth of lawsuit" is when you cheat on your wife while she's going through cancer, then ask for a divorce right after the surgery.
But I'm not Newt Gingrich. - whoreable, on 10/24/2008, -0/+3***** that. Some of those skits are verbatim. The lady is a ***** idiot.
- wheresmclean, on 10/24/2008, -0/+2I believe the old bumper sticker "Nuck Fewt" might reappear on my car...
- rearlgrant, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1Because a news commentator like / entertainer like Rush Limbaugh never does this, and invoking parody on a comedy show should be unlawful. True Republican values on display.
Hint to GOP -- If it didn't resonate with the voters, it would be seen as funny. SNL is simply supplying a market, duh. The GOP, for a free market before it was against it. - inactive, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1eye of newt
- redtaboo, on 10/24/2008, -0/+1I thought that was true, I came to the comments to ask. Thank you.
- AmericanElitist, on 10/23/2008, -1/+1Newt has slandered he's a frickin modern day Pinochio
