- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7The Internets doesn't work the way you think it does. Transcripts of live network news today are not instantly available online. But if you'd bothered to to RTFA you would have seen this verifying link :
"Censoring Al-Manar TV: Banned from U.S. Television, Does Station Broadcast Simply an Alternative Arab Viewpoint or Dangerous Propaganda? "

Also, I'd like to say I am not taking the side of Lebanon here. As a matter of fact I am an American Jew. Like many other people here I've never been to the mid-east region. I am only stating I think it would be fairer to publicly show the vantage points and arguments of both sides in this conflict. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10The conflict in Israel and Lebanon is going on right now, and seeing how many of use would like to hear how it's being reported to the Lebanese it is not old news.
So you think the American people are incapable of independent thought, and your solution is to ban the speech because we are unable to resist it. Is our American position so weak that it cannot withstand the voice of the enemy? Who could possibly disagree with that logic? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8I would like to see for myself how the news of the current conflict between Israel and Lebabon is being reported to the people of Lebabon.
I think it's reasonable that our new neworks be allowed to air portions of Al-Manar news. Currently they are not. Both CNN and FOX News are stating that they are not allowed by U.S. law to air footage from Lebanese news. That sir is limiting both our freedom of speech and freedom of press. - quine, on 10/12/2007, -9/+13A) Old news.
B) There are two sides to every story: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A18011-2004Dec21.html
Are any of the diggers out there getting tired of the onslaught of idiot-based sensationalist propaganda (both left and right) as I am? - NoahVail, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Sensationalist propaganda? Here is an example of a Senator presenting false testimony to the Supreme Court in order to justify extra-constitutional activity of the U.S. govt. How bad does it have to be before people in the U.S. become alarmed? http://www.digg.com/politics/Senator_Alters_Congressional_Record,_Lies_to_Supreme_Court

Your intelligence and respectful nature of debate and critical thought astounds me. True, I may lean a bit more to the conservative side, but I'm no drone. Yes, I may chime in there against say somebody like Bloodjunkie and Aidenag on occasion and give them a good ribbing of political debate - but in all honesty, I respect what they're doing. Hell, at least they're being a tad more critical than posting old/inaccurate junk like this.
Wuxia, I'm sorry I don't think like you, believe in what you believe - but calling someone a "whiney little bitch" does nothing to further your beliefs or ethos.
Cheers. - quine, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Aw hell - I'll bite:
"Both CNN and FOX News are stating that they are not allowed by U.S. law to air footage from Lebanese news..."
Show me.... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Why concern ourselves with the lack of re-broadcasts from CNN or Fox when you can simply watch Lebanese news online?

Take that, Pres. Bush, the lesser! *snap*

In regards to QUINE and all the others that complain about various news articles posted to Digg, hit the damn back button, you whiney little bitches. Who gives two ***** what you like and dont like. It aint about you! - quine, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4"...The designation means foreign nationals who work for the network or provide it any support can be barred from the United States, officials said..."
That is the executive order, that is the ruling - nobody is keeping the American people from *****, and nobody is supressing anyones speech.
Furthermore: "...the U.S. action had the effect of banning al-Manar in the United States, where its programming had been beamed via GlobeCast..."
GlobeCast is a privately held company, and as such - is allowed (under American Law) to choose its customers however it wishes - if you have a problem with GlobeCast's policies, take it up with them...
What is Digg?
