- woofers07, on 07/05/2009, -13/+146Seriously, ***** all of you that wanted this hack a heartbeat away from running our country.
- northwatuppa, on 07/04/2009, -9/+106fta: Some pundits have said that Palin's resignation is out of character. Hardly. Don't forget that she resigned from her last statewide office -- that as chair of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. Sarah Palin is a quitter. She fancies herself something else. But, in the end, she quit her position at AOGCC and she has now quit her governorship. That's two-for-two at the statewide level. In Wasilla, there was nearly a recall launched against her as mayor. Trouble and turbulence have followed her everywhere.
So, if she were elected to national office (perish the thought) she would, say, resign from the presidency before the end of her term to become, what, Queen of the World? - BlankVerse, on 07/05/2009, -6/+81Sarah Palin's political epitaph will read "WHEN THE GOING GOT TOUGH, SARAH PALIN QUIT!".
- RiotHeart, on 07/05/2009, -2/+69Bailin Palin
- sugarazor, on 07/05/2009, -1/+61So in essence, Palin admitted that Alaska was better off without her?
- seltaeb4, on 07/05/2009, -3/+60To those who would defend Palin and say that media criticisms of her are "sexist," answer this:
Name a man of either party—hell, of ANY party—who could continue to pull crap like this and still be taken even remotely seriously. - inactive, on 07/05/2009, -2/+52Careful. You might get sued.
- icono1, on 07/04/2009, -9/+54Quitting again!!!!!
Oh Ok.
She may be a media darling or lightning post but it is hard to finish something if you are always quitting before the job is done. - inactive, on 07/04/2009, -10/+55More pagents to do, some skeletons in the closet- has she been "hiking"? What door has "God opened" for Mrs. Palin to plow through now; fox anchor- that's where washed up, or disgraced GOP types go, and pagent has-beens's, fox can get 2 for the price of 1!
- abe0005, on 07/05/2009, -4/+43actually, he is
- DangerCollie, on 07/05/2009, -5/+43For whatever reason, she's popular with the Rupert Murdoch extreme end of the party. This albatross is going to be hanging on the Republicans necks for a long, long time.
And it couldn't happen to a more deserving lot. You pandered to the crazies and now they own what's left of your crapass party. - papashawn, on 07/05/2009, -4/+40It's a sad day for conservatives. At least the ones that support the likes of Palin.
Take a look over at free republic. They are so convinced she is doing it to run for presidency or Queen of the world or some *****. Suggest anything otherwise and be flamed to all hell. It is downright hilarious how they accuse dems/liberals of politician worship with Obama, then throw themselves at the feet of this woman, suggesting she is sent by god to combat Obama the antichrist. Hell, look at the conniption fit they're having on this thread, with no coherent rebuttal other than the default WAAAAAAAAAAH BIRTH CERTIFICATE BIRTH CERTIFICATE HUFFINGTON POST SUCKS.
Guess what *****: It's NOT out of character for her, it's right along the lines of every other hack ***** you hold above the senators YOU elected, just like Limbaugh, Hannity, etc. She's joined the ranks of all the other would be saints that figured out it's easier (and more profitable) to sit on the sidelines and run your mouth without accountability (or as you put it, the "constraints" of public office), than to hold any position capable of real change.
Go ahead and pretend she's doing it for the greater good of Alaska or conservativism or some *****, but the only running she'll be doing is straight to the bank with her 7 million dollar book advance. Play these ***** off, keyboard cat! - sugarazor, on 07/05/2009, -14/+49There are no depths that this woman will not sink to. She could be the most disgusting, vile, brain dead, deceitful, morally-corrupt ***** to ever be involved with American politics.
- Anomaly100, on 07/05/2009, -4/+36Or, you could face the fact that Sarah Palin IS a politician. She went to 5 different colleges too, so throw that in the mix. Then recently, Rupert Murdoch and Palin struck a book deal. She's being investigated and we should believe that she is so virtuous and being victimized by the press! Remember what the press did to Obama? Well she incited a lot of that. Remember the Palin rallies? She keeps saying she doesn't like the media attention, while at the same time gives a press conference on her lawn. Pfft!
- OUberLord, on 07/05/2009, -3/+32The article itself was written by a Republican. The running gag of "It came from Wasilla" was originally made up by her own staff. The Republican party itself has been launching scathing criticism against her.
Democrats and Republicans have an easy thing to agree with each other on at this point; Palin isn't fit to run a hot dog stand, let alone a body of land close to the size of a state or country. - inactive, on 07/04/2009, -1/+24Hunt wolves!
- inactive, on 07/05/2009, -2/+21Whiny republican bitching about how the world is too liberal.. How out of character!
- 8batsy8, on 07/05/2009, -2/+20She tried the beauty pageant thing and that didn't go so well, so she tried the sportscaster thing and that didn't go so well, then she tried the politician thing and that didn't work for her either. I can only assume she'll keep trying things that put her in the public spotlight.
- inactive, on 07/05/2009, -3/+21I hope she gets a gig at FOX NOISE, she'll fit right in. I'd probably watch the program, and record it, for times when I need a good laugh.
- Shirt, on 07/05/2009, -0/+17The Republicans have a forum where they can smear Obama and Democrats too. It's called the farmer's market. Or the honky tonk. Or the sidewalk in front of their house.
No but seriously, do you really believe that it was only liberals that hated Palin? Yeah, sure. - inactive, on 07/05/2009, -1/+17... not 3 years prior.
- Akairenn, on 07/05/2009, -3/+18I'll counter-sue with a class action. I'm sure that woman's inanity and ridiculous speeches have caused brain damage to myself and millions across America.
- smacksaw, on 07/05/2009, -3/+18Hey now. Republicans like facts, right? Stating the facts is a hitpiece? If she does things to make the facts show her in a negative light, what else could stating the facts be? It's not like she is giving us some really positive facts to work with here.
- morcheeba, on 07/05/2009, -0/+15Yep, he did. So did Biden. And GW Bush, and Clinton. And, if they had won, you're saying that neither McCain nor Palin would have quit their jobs? Now, what was your point?
- inactive, on 07/05/2009, -3/+18Like Colman could have conceded to Mick Jaguar months ago...
- Shirt, on 07/05/2009, -2/+16If you think it was just liberals that hated Palin, you are sadly mistaken.
And I don't want to claim to know anything about your political affiliations or ideology, but if you assume that one party is a bunch of hypocrites and the other is not... well that's VERY naive. Also, you are taking the quote of one person (when you don't even know if they are liberal OR a Democrat) and using it to characterize an entire group of people. How smart and defiant of you. - Pigeon, on 07/05/2009, -1/+15I don't hate Republicans.
I hate stupidity.
Palin is nothing but stupidity with a pretty face. - inactive, on 07/05/2009, -0/+14She is a retard but I think you laid it on a bit thick.
- allisonaxe, on 07/05/2009, -0/+13@trying2bNice: you're not trying hard enough.
- smacksaw, on 07/05/2009, -0/+13Slandering someone isn't saying things that are not nice, slander is saying things that are not true.
- manlyandy, on 07/05/2009, -0/+12Palin didn't quit to do anything though. She has said nothing of future plans. It seems she has only quit in order to not have to do anything.
- inactive, on 07/05/2009, -0/+12You do not get to call slander on everything just because your idol threatened to do so.
- sugarazor, on 07/06/2009, -0/+12So she can't handle the position she ran for because of outside distractions? And people wanted this woman to be Vice President?! Imagine if she were to become President... how can she stand up to Putin or Kim Jong Il if she can't even handle the Alaskan media?
Palin is a complete coward. - emkaysmith, on 07/05/2009, -2/+14You do know you're not allowed to keep your Senate seat after winning the presidency, don't you? Obama was promoted to a new job by a majority of the people. Palin just quit so she could go home to her little $20 million cabin in the woods and sulk. Besides, there's another shoe getting ready to drop somewhere.
"They're picking on me again!" - emkaysmith, on 07/05/2009, -2/+13Heh. She's attacking herself just fine without any assistance from the "liberals" (i.e., anyone who isn't an unthinking Palin-worshipper), thank you very much.
- inactive, on 07/05/2009, -1/+12"palling around with terrorists"
- TrouserJazz, on 07/05/2009, -6/+17Barracuda? More like Barraquitter.
I smell a lucrative talking circuit... $500 a head dinners... I'm sure she'll do well crapping on about abortion and abstinence ad nauseam. - barth2k, on 07/06/2009, -3/+14Her resignation was basically: Quitters suck, therefore I'm not quitting. But staying is just going with the flow, and I'm not a dead fish. So, I quit. But not "quitting." Passing the ball. I'm like McArthur, got it?
It's the kind of rambling you may hear from a ball player in a locker interview after a loss. If you go to any HS graduation, you'll get a valedictorian speech by an 18yo that will be more well thought out and coherent.
But there I go again, expecting someone who wants to be a national leader to have basic competence with the written and spoken language, not to mention a decent grasp of the main issues facing the country. Silly liberal elite me (even though I grew up in a 3rd world country way poorer than anything Palin can imagine).
Sarah Palin is a narcissistic personality with 150M+ enablers who love her either because a) she's one of them and not an elite, b) she's all ideology and no ideas, an empty vessels into which they can pour their thinking and have her their bidding (Kristol et al), or c) she drives the liberals nuts and that's good enough. This woman isn't done. Laugh at her at your own peril. The barracuda is going to be around for a while. At least her looks will go south at some point so we won't be subjected to nauseating cheesecake photos a la Runner's World forever. - illinoise89, on 07/05/2009, -3/+14Well now I'm even more certain she couldn't have survived being vice president. Barring some upcoming scandal, it sounds like she resigned because she couldn't take the media heat. If she can't take what was leveled at her on this level, she certainly could not have survived in Washington. I mean Obama has the most watched cable news network basically declaring war on him and she can't take some blogger attacks.
- Depthfunction, on 07/05/2009, -0/+11What, you expected Obama to serve as President AND the junior senator from Illinois? Really??
- inactive, on 07/05/2009, -2/+12If an honest man or woman were to run for office in America, the press would call him dangerous because no one has any ***** on him.
- ceolwulf, on 07/05/2009, -0/+10and the vitriol, the slurs, that were hurled at the obama campaign from her and her goons were any better.
- Lomstradamus, on 07/06/2009, -1/+11ramiro BURIED for being dead from the neck up.
- melodrameric, on 07/05/2009, -2/+12I would agree with you if Sarah Palin hadn't just inexplicably resigned from her governorship.
- papashawn, on 07/05/2009, -3/+12I think she has endured a lot of unneccessary *****, but that kind of comes with the territory. If you are running for public office be ready for some degree of character assassination.
Like Obama/Clinton, I am not fed up with Palin nearly as much as I am with her little fan club. - SanDiegoFreeway, on 07/05/2009, -0/+9Palin is probably gearing up for a Senate run in 2010 against incumbent Lisa Murkowski. The timing of Palin's resignation would make sense (~18 months to the election), and get her "national experience" if she wins. The governorship of Alaska isn't a good place to run a Presidential bid from, and I'm sure she got her eyes on making a run in 2012.
IMHO there's no way in hell she'd win the nomination in 2012, let alone the election. - DangerCollie, on 07/05/2009, -9/+18Republicans are not only losers but whiny losers. lol.
Laugh all you want, call names all you want, but the people you call libtards are running the country now and you suck it. - ceolwulf, on 07/05/2009, -1/+10yeah, because being the governor of a state that honestly, *seriously* wants to secede from the union, a state that lives ~900 miles from the continental US gives her more experience than a senator who lives right in the middle of a thriving city.
just because you're technically a part of the same branch of government doesn't mean you're more qualified. she didn't do ***** as a governor and she wouldn't do ***** as a president. - Crazyredivan, on 07/05/2009, -2/+11She keeps herself in the spotlight. I'd love to never hear her name again. I couldn't give two ***** less what happens to this woman, but I do think it should be a huge wake-up call to her supporters and anyone who thinks she could use this as a springboard for 2012. You can't quit your highest-elected office (a crazy move made bizarre by her rambling speech that really didn't answer anything) then attempt another political run. You definitely can't say you're tired of politics, of the media, and of personal attacks then go run for another office...does she think any of those things would just magically go away?
I'd love to forget she ever existed, but right now she's like a bad car accident that you can't help but marvel over and shake your head at. And she did it to herself. - lateralus, on 07/06/2009, -0/+9I don't know what you're talking about. I just turned on Fox and it says "Palin (D - Alaska) is resigning". Typical democrat cut and run. First Sanford (D - South Carolina) and now this.
