Gallup Poll: Americans Say Abortion is Morally Wrong
lifenews.com — Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A new poll from Gallup finds more Americans say abortion is morally wrong but a majority of Americans believe embryonic stem cell research and assisted suicide are morally okay. The percentages aren't too far removed from the results Gallup obtained in the same poll last June.

- sertelt, on 05/21/2008, -3/+2Because we need one more SC justice....
- prolifemama, on 05/21/2008, -3/+3It's also still going on because people have become accustomed to it. Folks who would never have an abortion are nonetheless hesitant to 'take away' the legal right to abortion from someone who may 'need' one. Abortion proponents have sold abortion to the American people as something that's unfortunate, but necessary. This, like so many other sales pitches, is a lie. But it benefits the abortion industry to appear as caring, concerned individuals who just want to help women in crisis pregnancies. But the abortion industry in this country is a billion-dollar one, gorging itself on the fears and vulnerability of women who think abortion is their only option.
We, the prolife community, must continue to offer life-affirming choices to women, continue to tell the truth about abortion, that it hurts women, that women deserve better.
lazerus9 is right - abortion is eugenics. Just check out the mother of eugenics in the US - Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood.
- lazerus9, on 05/20/2008, -10/+7Abortion is about eugenics not family planning.
- Coven, on 05/21/2008, -2/+2Yes, a girl/woman who is not ready to be a mother is obviously out to cleanse the world of the filth that is her fetus. I mean, the Germans did it to the Jews, why can't women do it to babies?
- prolifemama, on 05/20/2008, -4/+5People object to abortion, but harvesting embryonic human beings for their stem cells is okie-dokie?
Let's review. You didn't 'come from' a fertilized ovum, you once WERE a fertilized ovum. You didn't 'come from' a 10-week-old fetus, you once WERE a ten-week-old fetus. You didn't 'come from' a newborn infant, you once WERE a newborn infant.
Nothing magical happens along this development timeline that suddenly bestows a gestating human with humanness. Our DNA is there from the get-go. No need to argue ensoulment or standards for personhood. Science allows us to present factual information upon which everyone can agree, without passion or personal ideologies interfering with consensus.
And how's this for equality? If you have human DNA (and to be completely fair, even flawed DNA resulting in your carrying spina bifida or Down's Syndrome or Tay-Sachs or sickle-cell anemia), you're in! Legally protected! You're a valued member of society. Whatever your deficiencies are, we will meet your needs. Whatever your gifts are, we will receive them gratefully.
Welcome to our human family! - KCLorelei39, on 05/21/2008, -1/+3yup, we're a confused people, aren't we?

- chicofaraby, on 05/21/2008, -5/+8No one dies in an abortion.
Mind your own business.- KCLorelei39, on 05/21/2008, -8/+4I see you haven't changed your tired slogan. Perhaps those 51 MILLION children slaughtered since 1971 are 'no one' to you. But their absence has caused much damage to the fabric of our nation.
and that is everyone's business.- KCLorelei39, on 05/21/2008, -8/+3http://www.prolifeamerica.com/4D-Ultrasound-pictur ...
after looking at these pictures, can you honestly say you no one is dying?- izackcarson, on 05/21/2008, -2/+2Yes I can. Potential is not the same as actual.
- KCLorelei39, on 05/21/2008, -1/+3at what precise moment in time does what you claim to be only a 'potential' person become an 'actual' person?
- Nannybell, on 05/21/2008, -1/+3KCL, for them the fetus becomes an actual person at the precise moment that a baby would be CONVENIENT for them. Very strange how they can be all excited about having a baby from the very first moment they learn they are pregnant, and at that moment that baby is indeed a baby to them. But if for any reason the baby is inconvenient, well then it's not a baby to them; instead it becomes just a bunch of tissue. Very simple *logic* huh.
- chicofaraby, on 05/21/2008, -3/+7A fetus isn't a child.
If you're pregnant, that fetus is your business, not mine. I can't make you abort it. The same logic applies to you. You can't make a woman give birth to a child. It's not your business. You don't have that right.
Why in the world are you nuts unable to grasp such a simple concept?- KCLorelei39, on 05/21/2008, -7/+6a fetus is a child that hasn't been born yet. that unborn person certainly isn't going to come out something other than a human child, is it?
Did you know that quite a few people have indeed been forced to abort a baby? I was one of them; when I changed my mind at the very last minute, lying on that table, I was lied to and physically restrained so that the abortionist could proceed, and keep his fee. This practice goes on more than people like yourself would care to know about.
did you look at the pictures of the unborn babies?
As a citizen of this country, I most certainly do have the right to have an opinion on the actions of others that affect the course of the nation I live in. Furthermore, I have the right to assemble with others that are like-minded, and educate others about this issue. - chicofaraby, on 05/21/2008, -4/+7"Furthermore, I have the right to..." blah, blah blah
Yes, assemble, talk, jump up and down and hold your breath until you turn blue. Fine. But you can't tell my wife or daughter that they have to give birth. Your right to swing your fist ends at my nose. - KCLorelei39, on 05/21/2008, -7/+5education about abortion isn't the equivalent of physical violence. Your attempt to link the two are easily seen for what they are: a lack of education on abortion.
let's see, if a woman gives birth, that means someone must provide for that baby. If the woman needs financial help, I guess that's where your interest lies - if a woman aborts, there's no baby to 'tie down' the father, is there? or the grandfather?
ever paid for an abortion? ever talked a girlfriend into having one? a wife? a daughter? - chicofaraby, on 05/21/2008, -3/+5WTF? If I had paid for ten thousand abortions it wouldn't be your business.
Mind your own business, freak. - KCLorelei39, on 05/21/2008, -7/+5My question isn't cause for name calling, poor man...I wondered if you had paid for any abortions. That would explain your anger and hateful attitude, as those who think abortion is a quick fix later often feel very guilty when their loved one isn't the same person afterwards.
I cannot tell if that is the case with you, which is why I asked. Your defensiveness is a good indication of some guilt on your part....
Another likelihood is that you are just one of many who wish to have their sexual good times, without being burdened with the responsibility caring for the product of sex for 18 years. - chicofaraby, on 05/21/2008, -3/+5Look, Dr Freud, you are the one with a pathological need to punish people for having sex. Seek help.
Now as to your question, when did you stop beating your wife? - KCLorelei39, on 05/21/2008, -6/+5"punish people for having sex'? are you an Obamanite? that sounds like his reasoning....
a baby isn't punishment; it's what can happen when a man and a woman have sex.
though it's a nice attempt at sidestepping, I'm not buying it.
if you haven't paid for an abortion, and you don't have a problem with financially supporting an unwanted baby, why so angry?
Did someone 'punish' you for having sex by having a baby and making you get married and be responsible?
- KCLorelei39, on 05/21/2008, -7/+6a fetus is a child that hasn't been born yet. that unborn person certainly isn't going to come out something other than a human child, is it?
