- algaeturd, on 09/03/2008, -9/+49It's funny...the neocons are actually smart in that they realize how dumb their fan base is. The average Republican would believe that Jesus rode a unicycle and wrote Palin's name in the sand before time to choose her as VP. That's why the republican leadership is so daft...they realize that no matter how crazy their lies are, no matter how far-fetched and nonsensical, there will be a huge group of republicans who will not only believe them, but argue and fight for them.
It's kind of a slavery of sorts; rich, white, old men pulling the strings of the dumb folks. - IgorUnchained, on 09/02/2008, -6/+38I live close to Canada....in a town of more than 6,000. Can I be ambassador to Chile?
- kevman459, on 09/03/2008, -6/+34Apparently I'm a cyborg, since I've spent a lot of my time very close to my computer.
- inactive, on 09/03/2008, -1/+20"***** out a tard".. hmmm, something tells me that's definitely not in the Politically Correct Terminology Handbook /flips thru nope not there..
;D - omgsoemo, on 09/03/2008, -8/+25Republicans - the original Fanboys.
- inactive, on 09/03/2008, -3/+17Jesus Christ, "osmosis"? The lengths these ***** hacks are going to to shore up this hopelessly empty vessel are laughable. This ***** is gonna crash and burn worse than John McCain piloting a fighter jet.
- inactive, on 09/03/2008, -2/+12*deafening silence from Right Wing Loons*
"but she moe experience than Obamar!!!111!" - inactive, on 09/03/2008, -2/+12I don't know, I thought stagmire was a very unique blend of total dick head ass hole and very convincing at the same time. His post has left me in a state of dissonance.
I think I am gonna fan him. - innaF, on 09/03/2008, -4/+13Why is Russia always represented as an enemy? We live in the 21st century and can solve problems by discussing them! I want peace peace peace!
- YancyFryJr, on 09/03/2008, -1/+9Oh god, I'm afraid of what's gotten to me from my time on 4chan...
- lopla, on 09/03/2008, -1/+9I just watched the Bourne trilogy and I ***** you not I osmosizized that ***** big time. I am now a super soldier and that kind of scares me.
- inactive, on 09/03/2008, -2/+9Because Russia will be one of the worlds top oil producers for the next bunch of years. Silly Ruskies, trying to keep us from all our oil.
- bjornski, on 09/03/2008, -3/+10She won't be the one raising Trig. She'll dump that on her family.
She's already shown that she put her job over the life of the kid once ( MUST give that speech!). What's the problem if she does it for 4 more years? - vinod1978, on 09/03/2008, -4/+11Surely republicans can't believe that McCain would solve the economic crisis, lower our dependence on foreign oil, or get us out of Iraq - he thinks we are doing just fine. He stated that the US economy is "solid", that we have enough oil to last us "at least a hundred years", and that the "surge is working". People that are voting for McCain don't think this country is in trouble - Obama supports see that without new leadership this country is doomed.
- birdly, on 09/03/2008, -2/+8It's amazing the verbal gymnastics people will put themselves through, just to cling to the identity they once found in a failing ideology!
- Mechanized, on 09/03/2008, -3/+9Is there any comparison against your presidential pick whom has served a "token" of 2 years in a senate seat that has no accomplishments within his voting record? I guess there is.
- TheInformer, on 09/03/2008, -1/+6She's not a bad choice, and that's what terrifies the myrmidons so.
- Berkana, on 09/03/2008, -3/+8I don't give a damn that she can cross her legs; I give a damn that she lied, covered it up, and plays self-righteous while she uses baby Trig as a cheap political prop for her positions. Forging or falsifying birth certificates is a crime, and Palin is a criminal for having done this.
She says Bristol is 5 months pregnant now. We'll see whether that's true in about 4 months. If so, I apologize, but if not, she should be investigated and charged. - colonelbuckshot, on 09/03/2008, -2/+7Frank Gaffney is disgusting. An arrogant, dishonest neoconservative, and raving mad to boot
- vinod1978, on 09/03/2008, -0/+5in a holiday inn express?
- Sfenton, on 09/03/2008, -4/+9You are very convincing when you use words like "tards".
- inactive, on 09/03/2008, -1/+5Because America needs an enemy to strive.
- rodrigo74, on 09/03/2008, -3/+7Putin, Chavez and Ahmadinejad might be scared to death now, hoping they never ever have to have a 3AM conversation with this woman. I mean, she learned it by fracking OSMOSIS, how super hero is that???
- sockpuppets, on 09/03/2008, -2/+6If this was true then I should be hired to direct porn immediately.
- ripple123, on 09/03/2008, -0/+4hey thats awesome! thats how i learnt 3rd year discrete math. lattices ftw.
- teebird, on 09/03/2008, -2/+6This line from the Gaffney article is so ridiculous I don't know where to start:
"Moscow has also conducted simulated strategic bombing runs with Soviet-era long-range, nuclear-capable aircraft."
Has anyone told Gaffney that the US flies regular simulated missions in B-52s? Does this so-called "security expert" know that the B-52 has been part of our strategic air arsenal for five decades?
And...on the geography front...While it's true that Moscow has been flexing its muscles lately and doing a fair amount of sabre-rattling, it's been directed toward the Soviet successor states and former Warsaw Pact members that the US and NATO have been wooing. How does Alaska fit that profile?
Are the Republicans so desperate to find some way to explain the logic of choosing Palin that they've had to resort to old 1950s "Red Scare" tactics? - TheInformer, on 09/03/2008, -4/+8It's funny how Palin has the lefties in such an uproar. She must be one of the most qualified and influential people on the planet to warrant this much attention. Rather, she will become one of the most influential people due in part to the backlash by the American public against all of this spewage by the national media and useless news sites like Thinkprogress. I put more credence in the National Enquirer because at least a small percentage of the time they get it right. Thinkprogress is still searching.
Thinkprogress SPAM. Buried. - richpav, on 09/03/2008, -2/+6Does anyone know of an example of any national security issues involving Russia that she had to deal with as governor of Alaska?
- inactive, on 09/03/2008, -1/+5You amaze me. I would have thought that your skull would implode due to the gravitational pull of that black hole of stupidity in there.
She's a ***** beauty pagent contestant and weather girl. He's a Federal lawmaker on the CFR. She was educated at a backwoods college majoring in journalism, he is a ***** Columbia University degree holder in political science focused on international relations. He has over 10 years Federal political experience, she has zero Federal experience. Zilch. He is a lawmaker who defines the laws *she* has to follow (when she can be bothered). Obama served on 3 Senate Committees on foreign policy issues including the Foreign Relations; Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, and Veterans' Affairs committees, Chair of the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on European Relations responsible for U.S. relations with European countries, European Union, and NATO. The list goes on, far too long to list here for your tiny brain. Palin thinks the planet was made 6000 years ago and likes to shoot animals. Obama is virtually a ***** brainiac on science, did you see his answers on that stuff?
By your argument, Palin is more experienced than McCain. This is a pathetic joke.
You've got no chance with this tack. - tumatakuru, on 09/03/2008, -1/+5good analogy

/sarcasm - Berkana, on 09/03/2008, -1/+4Blogger Interrupted has coverage of this. I don't have the link from which I took the screencap, but the video appears to have been taken off of Youtube.
http://bloggerinterrupted.com/2008/08/video-sarah- ... - Asheis, on 09/03/2008, -2/+5I was watching the RNC tonight.. which was.. interesting, to say the least (especially that part about bush protecting america, etc etc).
At one point, one of the ladies spouted this line.. well, "Because alaska is close to Russia AND CANADA, this woman can be said to have experience in foreign policy"
Repugs please explain.. - bjornski, on 09/03/2008, -0/+3And what actions did she take regarding that? What has she done with it?
- HappyScrappy, on 09/03/2008, -2/+5I think it's funny the justification for her having foreign policy experience is that her state is near a foreign country - Russia.
Doesn't it share a 500 mile border with another foreign country - Canada? - NoozeHound, on 09/03/2008, -1/+4Firstly, if I screen American election, how come Diggs fantastic algorithm lets so much through?
Secondly, every time I see one of these I think...
"What's Dean Gaffney done now?"
and
"Why so much interest in Michael Palin?."
Hurrumph. - vinod1978, on 09/03/2008, -1/+4I could be the CEO of a 1 person company, but that doesn't mean I'm more eligible to be a COO of a major fortune 500 country. You can't compare apples to oranges. Obama was a senator from Illinois, she managed 7,000 residents and her short term as governor has already been wrought with scandals and crisis. You are telling me she is more qualified then Obama? Why because she wants to ban abortion, wants to drill in Anwar, wants to continue to fight in Iraq, wants to give tax cuts to the wealth & tax the middle class? John McCain is Bush II, and Palin would be Bush III.
- vinod1978, on 09/03/2008, -1/+4There are student body presidents that have looked after more people then Palin.
- Barackalypse, on 09/03/2008, -2/+4Because Russia is controlled by men like Vladimir Putin, who for the record I think is totally awesome, so please don't kill me.
- thebigsix, on 09/03/2008, -2/+4Hmmm, well if that's the case; Illinois is closer to Canada and Mexico than Russia is to Alaska. So that must mean Obama has twice the foreign policy experience than Palin.
What a joke, these republicans will try to come up with anything to make themselves look good. - inactive, on 09/03/2008, -0/+2What came out of that whole fiasco is that Palin often wears the same black ensemble. She has it on every damn pictures out there.
Might be a magician's coat or something, with secret pockets to hide pregnancies. - inactive, on 09/03/2008, -0/+2canada is not really considered a foreign country - we're pretty sure we can kick canada's ass any time we need to. I have no idea if we're right, though...
- Barackalypse, on 09/03/2008, -5/+7By the same token does that mean Obama's foreign policy experience comes from spending first through fourth grades in Indonesia? The fundamental problem you liberals will always run into when criticizing Palin's experience is that she has just as much, and more, than Obama does.
What has Obama ever been in charge of, I doubt he even calls the shots in his own home. Palin ran a city and now runs a state. Obama is a junior Senator.
You should pay attention to the expression "people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones" or "its like the pot calling the kettle black". - rodrigo74, on 09/03/2008, -0/+2@Zarchon: Might be time for your country to reevaluate then electoral process then, as it is now, it forces people to vote for the "lesser of two evils" more often than not; one thing me and my friends in Brazil and here in Europe always find intriguing is that the US is the only major democracy without a green party, a liberal party, a labor party, all you guys have is center-right and right, 2 sides of the same coin, really.
Another weird thing in this process is that people spend 12 months grilling, debating, discussing every single argument and declaration of all candidates (which is great) and then at the last moment the chosen nominee picks a VP out of nowhere, and this VP may end up being the president of the US with very little of the scrutiny that the regular candidates went through. IMO it would make much more sense to ask the candidates to pick their VPs in the beginning of the primary process, so that people can discuss the whole ticket for a year. That would avoid aberrations like Quayle and Palin. -
