- michaelpinto, on 01/11/2009, -6/+181Side Note: MN GOP Party Chair Ron Carey was one of the folks behind making sure that Ron Paul couldn't speak the Republican convention last Summer.
- ieee, on 01/11/2009, -13/+160Who is the GOP to talk about "honorable opponents"?
I'm glad soon to be Senator Franken had the balls to fight. Somebody learned something from 2000. - Maddoktor2, on 01/11/2009, -6/+136The GOP whining about being honorable - there's irony for you...
- TheGroje, on 01/11/2009, -7/+119Look, you can complain all you want about Senator Franken, but the fact is that he's good enough, he's smart enough, and doggone it, people like him.
- inactive, on 01/11/2009, -3/+105"Honorable Politician" is an oxymoron and who made the Minnesota GOP chairman the arbiter of all things "honorable?"
- NatsuMatto, on 01/11/2009, -2/+101My favorite line is the quote from Rush Limbaugh saying that Franken “won’t quit [the Senate race] because he doesn’t know how to get a real job…He’s a pathetic figure.”
Hmm. Let's see... Franken is an entertainer who has a political radio show and writes books attacking the opposite side of the political fence. Sort of like what Rush does for a living. Isn't Limbaugh basically calling HIMSELF a pathetic figure who doesn't know how to get a real job?
I suppose the irony is lost on the ditto-head crowd. - DangerCollie, on 01/11/2009, -8/+105I would wear being the GOP's top enemy as a badge of honor.
- cubicledrone, on 01/11/2009, -5/+99Defeating Al Franken is the priority. Serving the people of the United States is not.

Perhaps we've found one of the problems with our government. - MiddleAmerica, on 01/11/2009, -3/+76
There is not even the slightest evidence that Franken or the Democratic party cheated, in fact its quite the other way around.
Also, Franken is brilliant, unusually honest for a politician, very quick on his feet, & very funny too.
The GOP should be afraid of him, because he sets the bar extremely high.

- kingofinternet, on 01/11/2009, -1/+48a hallmark of the rabid republican is a total lack of self-awareness.
- inactive, on 01/11/2009, -7/+53Franken may be a little goofy but anything that get's the collective panties of the GOP bunched up is fine by me.
- TheEngineer2008, on 01/11/2009, -3/+47Sorry Novenator. It didn't show on the dupe check. Obviously I'd not intentionally dupe your submit.
Everyone - please digg Novenator's submission. Thanks. - thepoliticalcat, on 01/11/2009, -5/+49Given the epidemic of "honorable" infesting the GOP (discernible mainly by its absence, let me add, for the snark-impaired), I'm sure all honorable people everywhere will take note.
- ileftfark, on 01/11/2009, -5/+48Sometimes I wonder if Minnesota voters cast their votes just to obtain the funniest result.
- TheSwashbuckler, on 01/11/2009, -2/+44The irony of Rush calling someone else "pathetic"...
- thefox84, on 01/11/2009, -1/+42Yeah, he's definitely the enemy, but the collapsing economy, skyrocketing healthcare costs, never-ending war, and the rest of the world hating us, those are just things the rest of us can deal with.
- lostarchitect, on 01/11/2009, -8/+47Should he be "respectful" of their "honorable" rush into a war that has left thousands of Americans and tens of thousands of Iraqis dead, "respectful" of their "honorable" legitimization of torture, or "respectful" of their "honorable" financial deregulation which has led to economic collapse? You let us know, ok?
- trolleyfan, on 01/11/2009, -1/+40No, that was the presidental election in 2000...
- lowbot, on 01/11/2009, -3/+42Exactly, this is like saying "Al-qaeda really hates Gen Pretaeus." Theyre supposed to. Who cares what the GOP thinks anyway? Bush supporters, Palin lovers, and anti-abortion nutters? Yeah, thats a sane crowd we should be listening to.
- morningmatters, on 01/11/2009, -2/+40It appears that MN GOP is trying to hype Franken as a way to raise some additional cash. If MN GOP voters hate him so much why didn't more of them come out in NOV?
On another note, can't GOP use something positive rather than the usual hatred and hysteria to generate support? - novenator, on 01/11/2009, -14/+51TheEngineer2008
Please check through the possible duplicates section a bit more carefully. I submitted this 6 hours earlier:

Granted my submission was from Yahoo! and yours from Politico (I dig politico BTW), but the articles are identical.
Thanks - Jaang, on 01/11/2009, -4/+40So, I guess the Republicans have forgotten all about Osama Bin Laden.
They forgot all about the guy that they launched two wars to fight against... and now Stuart Smalley is their number one enemy?
Good God, the Republican Party is seriously a pathetic joke. - doswarrior, on 01/11/2009, -0/+36What's that you say?
Civility on Digg?
Cheers to the both of you. - trispear, on 01/11/2009, -2/+38The neocons think they are deep into "honor". I remember when they said that the President is the decider, that in a time of war you never question, and that they are protecting us all.
I also think they are deep into something. But it ain't honor. - Tyrghast, on 01/11/2009, -4/+35GOP still being petty miscreants? Good to know nothing has changed in 2009...
- novenator, on 01/11/2009, -5/+36I know Engineer. No accusation intended. You always have good submissions.
Thanks man. - Frumbler, on 01/11/2009, -2/+31Really, that's all Franken is? "Failed talk show host". If that's so, he's pretty amazing to make it to Senator from mere failed talk show host. Are you sure he's done nothing more with his life. Oh wait, best selling author for one.... You were just spinning things weren't' you, how Limbaugh of you.
- thing01, on 01/11/2009, -0/+29C-Span is going to become more entertaining.
- MiddleAmerica, on 01/11/2009, -4/+32
FYI: Coleman is a Bush loyalist that voted with him the vast majority of the time.
Franken held a decent lead in the polls until Coleman started sliming Franken with misinformation attacks, while at the same time mimicking Franken's popular positions.
If Coleman had run an honorable campaign the race wouldn't have been that close.
But, to expect a Bush loyalist Republican to run an honorable campaign is of course not going to happen.
- TheSwashbuckler, on 01/11/2009, -3/+31No, we've found a problem with Republicans...
- kesin, on 01/11/2009, -2/+30"he stole the election"
So 2000..../rolleyes - kingUssop, on 01/11/2009, -11/+37Anyone in the GOP describing themselves as honorable is nuts.
- elliotys, on 01/11/2009, -2/+28Wtf are you talking about? Caroline Kennedy wants Clintons seat given to her, IN NEW YORK. Franken ran, and won, an actual election in MINNESOTA.
- peter3118, on 01/11/2009, -3/+26Wrong: he won the election fair and square (Unlike George W. Bush in the 2000 presidential election which was stolen in Florida and the 2004 presidential election which was stolen in Ohio. Google the phrase "voter purging" and "voter caging" for a detailed factual explanation). Check out this Salon.com article for a factual account of this election: "Al Franken stole the election? Prove it or shut up"

- pintomp3, on 01/11/2009, -2/+23To the GOP, tying a triple amputee veteran to Osama Bin Laden is honorable.

The problem for libs on radio is that the lib population doesn't need talking heads to tell them what to think the way the con population does. - billraydrums, on 01/11/2009, -4/+25Not a partisan note but a thank you nonetheless:
Thank you, Senator Franken for bringing some semblance of sanity to politics. You're kind of like a big middle finger to career politicians, and I hope that your snarky remarks become even more poignant and direct through hardpan experience dealing with these nincompoops.
PS I'm hoping Ron Carey comes to regret his decision to disallow Dr. Paul from speaking at the GOP. - Maddoktor2, on 01/11/2009, -3/+23No, that was Florida in 2000, and it was a rightwing court.
- elliotys, on 01/11/2009, -2/+22An enemy of my enemy is my friend.
- enantiodromia, on 01/11/2009, -4/+24Al Franken was doing political satire back when your daddy was racing tractors for beer money
- inactive, on 01/11/2009, -3/+23Give 'em hell, Al Franken. We are 100% behind you.
- blaydcor, on 01/11/2009, -3/+23Plus the GOP is largely comprised of big, fat idiots.
- firesphotons, on 01/11/2009, -6/+25Dear mewrong, You better do some checking into who counted the votes, according to Olbermann the team included prominent Republicans. I know you guys are stung from the loss but try to play with facts, mkayyy?
- duggdowncatisad, on 01/11/2009, -4/+22lol butthurt republicans better call a whaambulance
- Verchiel77, on 01/11/2009, -3/+21*This* is what the GOP is focused on?
