- blorc, on 11/06/2007, -12/+209What a bunch of *****. If you ***** who run that site happen to read this post, go play in traffic. It's people like you who don't allow others to make an informed choice because you censor out information. You're exactly the type of people who don't deserve to live in this country.
- ariana333, on 11/06/2007, -16/+195Personally, I'd like to thank the GOP Straw Poll folks for helpint to elevate Ron Paul is saintly status. I mean, how else can you explain votes showing up for Ron Paul AT ALL in the results when he's not even listed as a candidate. That's miracle material. Maybe even, the BIG GUY, put in a good word for the doctor from Texas -- that might explain it. Thanks GOP Straw Poll ... no one could have discredited your organization as effectively as you have done yourself. Oh, and .... GO RON PAUL GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- UnFriendlyFire, on 11/06/2007, -17/+192Finally, a Ron Paul story!
- JlmAWP, on 11/06/2007, -7/+131I don't even know what to say to this ***** anymore. Why even have polls? Seriously....put up LOL Cats or something instead.
The only thing that keeps me going is the hope the Ron will one day rock these ***** like none have been rocked before. - theinept, on 10/10/2007, -3/+94Perhaps the UN's Electoral Assistance Division needs to send some impartial monitors in to ensure that the US is conducting fair, open and democratic elections. Doesn't seem like it from here.
- copperhead, on 10/24/2007, -1/+68Even if you're not supporting Congressman Paul in his campaign, you have to admit seeing these tactics used over and over have risen above a perceived persecution complex. I see people complaining about the Ron Paul spam, and I admit that some of the Ron Paul stories on Digg are a bit underwhelming ("YAY!!! Paul wins straw poll amongst my friends!!!!"), but imagine these sorts of tactics being used against your candidate.
When these things happen, it's not just an attack against the Ron Paul campaign... it's an attack against the free expression of ideas that make democracies work. When existing powers work to exclude "outsiders" from the political process, it ruins democracy for the sake of special interests, and ends up hurting all of us. - ChesapeakeBaybe, on 10/24/2007, -2/+67I actually credit Digg for introducing me to Ron Paul. When these articles started appearing, I had no idea who he was. Now I'm a believer -- even changing my party registration for the primary so I can vote for Ron Paul. Hope other non-republicans do the same.
- BrapAllgood, on 11/06/2007, -7/+68The balls of these people are so amazingly huge...I am aghast.
Freedom? My ass. Democracy? Certainly not.
I want my Republic back. - waterdrop, on 10/24/2007, -5/+61What the *****? How can they do that? I don't agree with Ron Paul on everything, but you can't just remove a guy from the poll if he's running for president that is *****. This country is ***** up and whether you like Ron Paul or not it does not matter because this is some seriously ***** up *****.
- CannedMango, on 10/24/2007, -2/+56Exactly! People here can bitch and moan about the over-saturation of Ron Paul all they like (I'm not going to say it's unjustified)... but when you see 100% un-democratic sh*t like this go down, you have to stand up for those being repressed. I don't care if it's Ron Paul, Rudy Guilianni or (super-racist) Tommy Thompson. Each deserves to be heard as much as the other so the people can make an informed choice.
The ridiculous levels to which the GOP and their controlled media partners are going to censor Ron Paul should be proof enough that he has a chance to win. What is going on here is a disgrace to democracy. - inactive, on 11/04/2007, -5/+58I have to say, I was in class yesterday (I go to probably a college with probably the most retarded least-politically active kids you could find), and these three guys were actually TALKING about voting for Ron Paul. That's GREAT in my opinion, this guy is making an impact in our culture.
- Obscenewords, on 10/10/2007, -3/+51If the Republican party doesn't get behind this guy we will have a Democratic president and an overwhelming majority of Democratic Senators come 2008. I'm not saying this is a bad thing but if Ron Paul doesn't win the ticket then I'm going to that suspect voting machine and voting for all Democrats. I'm sure most if not all Paul supporters will do the same.
- gn0stik, on 11/06/2007, -9/+52More spamming accusations. Jeez give it a break guys. Take the time to make it spam proof and then post a real poll. It's not Ron's fault that we're more organized in getting behind our candidate. We'll see if there's spamming involved when it's time to hit the ballot boxes you incompetent morons. We're just better than you, get over it. There's 10 RP signs for every sign of another candidate. That should say something to you.
- sonstone, on 10/10/2007, -1/+43And they have the audacity to have a banner running about ethics on the top of their page!
- JoshuaGross, on 10/10/2007, -0/+39I think Iraq should invade us and institute a democracy.
- Borramakot, on 10/10/2007, -3/+38They seem to have removes the September straw poll. To depressing that "none" of the presidential candidates were fit for office?
- bumb1ebee, on 10/10/2007, -4/+34I know exactly where Ron Paul stands on most issues, douche. The fact that you equate Paul with Bush shows that you're really the one who has no ***** clue.
- sockpuppets, on 10/21/2007, -2/+31The problem here is polling straws. Handy when enjoying a delicious beverage? Yes. Helpful when making a political decision? Not so much.
- drakethegreat, on 10/17/2007, -4/+29He's not actually from Texas, he only represents Texas in the house. Hes originally from Pennsylvania. I just want to clarify that for people who think hes from the south since it seems a lot of people assume this.
- BossKey, on 10/24/2007, -0/+24I think the Republicans are actually wary of putting a candidate up against a lolcat.
- NewDirection, on 10/10/2007, -2/+25Support Ron Paul and show these GOP warmongers that society says, "NO MORE WAR"
- techmaster, on 10/26/2007, -3/+26All GOP candidates are equal, but some GOP candidates are more equal than others.
- nowherekido3, on 10/10/2007, -3/+25yeah i bet the necons would let that happen...but we can dream of living in a state where our right to vote meant something
- hotspot102, on 10/10/2007, -1/+23Im a hardcore liberal canadian, and I love Ron Paul for his consistent voting record. To respect the constitution on the level he has, is unheard of and all though personally believe that parts of that constitution could be outdated. Ron Paul is being the utmost conservative by following the guidlines set by the founding fathers, of the great nation. Ron Paul is the true conservative. A true american.
IMO. - jskistud7, on 10/26/2007, -0/+21Don't forget to express your outrage directly at the jerks running this poll. gopstrawpolls@gmail.com
- davidg11, on 10/10/2007, -2/+23They are obviously resetting the poll constantly. Over the weekend NONE was winning and then an hour later Fred Thompson suddenly has 2500 votes (yeah right!). I say instead of none, choose Tancredo. I mean if we really want to screw up their poll, lets pick a candidate they aren't going to reset but who is CLEARLY not at the top of the pack.
- gentlax13, on 10/10/2007, -2/+23apparently they removed "none" and just gave Ron Paul zero. Here is the info from the site for when it crashes again.
As if Neo CON deception wasn't blatant enough, by REMOVING Ron Paul for WINNING their poll, now the national GOP Straw Poll has removed the category of "NONE", after news stories were beginning to report that "NONE" represented the vote for Ron Paul!
Quoting:
Since the GOP Strawpoll banned Ron Paul from its online poll, Ron Paul supporters have been flooding the site. Result: 'None' is winning the poll. (It should be noted emphatically that neither FMNN nor the Ron Paul campaign encourages any spamming of any kind in support of this rapidly advancing presidential candidate.) FMNN reported on the banning today, "Let the Banning Begin," here:
http://www.freemarketnews.com/WorldNews.asp?nid=49045
Results: 'None' has forged ahead of the second leading candidate, Romney, as of 1:30 PM/ETA
(none) 951 (40.3%)
Romney 699 (29.6%)
F. Thompson 264 (11.2%)
Huckabee 120 (5.1%)
Giuliani 99 (4.2%)
Hunter 68 (2.9%)
Gingrich 65 (2.8%)
Tancredo 59 (2.5%)
McCain 24 (1%)
Brownback 10 (0.4%)
Paul 1 (0%) - Phyltre, on 10/10/2007, -3/+24I don't think not liking him justifies locking him out of straw polls. Since that's the topic of this post, I'm not sure how your likes or dislikes are relevant.
- inactive, on 10/25/2007, -0/+20Hi, stopped by your site today and noticed that you are missing one of the Republican candidates on your poll located at http://www.gopstrawpolls.com/
It would seem that you have made a mistake in that you have not included Presidential candidate Ron Paul in your Poll. I am sure that this is just an oversight and that when I go back to your page it will be corrected.
Thank you,
[my name] - tehsuck1, on 10/10/2007, -3/+22Whats google?
- InetRoadkill, on 10/10/2007, -2/+20Well Bush isn't Texan either. He's from Connecticut.
- ganjadude4391, on 10/10/2007, -2/+20lol now they took off the none section as well as the RP section
- thewump, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19Either the results represent what is being voted for or they are ***** idiots and are not taking steps to avoid multiple votes. If they are doing an internet poll, and the Ron Paul supporters can rally support through digg etc. then the winning Ron Paul votes are valid! WTF are they trying to make the assumption that an internet vote should match a walk in vote? It wont! It will represent who is mobilizing the most support online - and that is ron paul every time. While that is meaningless in the long run, to me it is CRIMINAL to HIDE the fact that RP is the internet choice, as that would raise his profile elsewhere. ***** these people.
- nsbomb, on 10/10/2007, -4/+22I personally am sick of all the halo stories on digg... but that can't be spam?
- kinghajj, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19He may be anti-abortion and pro-religion, but he's also anti-Federal Government; he would let the states decide their own laws.
As for being anti-gay, are you referring to the fact that he called the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy good? I don't agree with him there, but his statement after that, that we have our freedoms not because of any arbitrary division like sex, class, race, or sexuality, but because we are human, surely clarifies that he's not anti-gay. - KJSatz, on 10/10/2007, -4/+21It's true that he has some very "lamely" conservative views, but it doesn't MATTER that he's against gay marriage, because he's ALSO against any federal involvement in it! Same for abortion and religion.
- jjesusfreak01, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16Notice that if you go one month back in the straw polls, Ron Paul rocked the polls to the extreme. They removed him, which means they removed the candidate polling most highly on their own site. If there isnt something wrong with that, I dont know what can be wrong. These are the statistics for first choice candidates among voters last month. He was also the only one who got a positive acceptability rating on their poll last month.
Paul 15075 (57%)
F. Thompson 4577 (17.3%)
Romney 2197 (8.3%)
Giuliani 985 (3.7%)
(none) 914 (3.5%)
Gingrich 657 (2.5%)
Hunter 594 (2.2%)
Huckabee 468 (1.8%)
Tancredo 368 (1.4%)
Brownback 333 (1.3%)
McCain 196 (0.7%)
T. Thompson 49 (0.2%)
Gilmore 29 (0.1%) - NewDirection, on 10/10/2007, -5/+21Ron Paul WON and they know it!
- JSatt, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17I know this is to deep for many to find but...
FIREFOX USERS, get Firebug
Go to http://www.gopstrawpolls.com/ and fill out the survey
BEFORE SUBMITTING, open firebug and find the FIRST Input radio element named "first" and change the value to "Paul"
then select the top First Choice radio button
this has changed your vote to Ron Paul for first choice. It won't show on the results page, but maybe they'll get the idea when they look at the raw data. - nsbomb, on 10/10/2007, -5/+2059,028,444 people voted for John Kerry in the last election...what a bunch of spammers.
- nicktheawesome, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15Thats what I did.
- paradexes, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17After 2008 we will all realize the world we thought we lived in will be over. The Nazis have taken over. It is only a matter of time before they bring the hammer down in a Tienanmen Square style manner. If you dont know what Tienanmen square is read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiananmen_Square_protests_of_1989
The GOP has pretty much become the party of facists under the cover of religion and morals. The Democrat side has also played a similar role pandering to those who will listen. They are 2 sides of the same coin. Man, Isaiah in the bible nailed this one. They will put evil for good and good for evil. Darkness for light and light for darkness. Whether you believe in God or not that statement certainly is accurate for what is happening now with politics and society in allot of areas. I am not a stodgy religionist but I have to say the lies and deception and murder (Iraq war) people commit for the "good" of the people certainly emphasizes the Isaiah statement above regardless of religion that has to make sense to at least some here. - ochants76, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18now they are taking votes away from none.....
- Phyltre, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15Spam is unwanted. By definition, virtually all stories on Digg are wanted--unless somebody's buying diggs and gaming the system.
That wouldn't appear to be the case for Halo or Ron Paul. - phunlee, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16who cares about where he's from? since when is Texas exactly part of the South? Texas is it's own region of the US.
Also, I know a current leader who plays as though he's from Texas and actually came from a land far far away... north. - TheTimmeh, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15Way to perpetuate false stereotypes. You have the same mindset as people who hate homosexuals, just applied to a different target. Giuliani would be another Bush. Clinton would be a lot like Bush, too, on foreign policy at least. Ron Paul, on the other hand, is the only candidate who would turn this country around and fix all the damage it's suffered over the last 100 years. Learn something about him before you accuse other people of being ignorant.
- joshf52, on 10/10/2007, -3/+16The best part is right next to the poll, there's the following ad:
Expose The Hypocrisy!!!
[pic of book Caucus of Corruption]
Expose the corruption and hypocrisy of the Democratic Party!
Buy Caucus of Corruption: The Truth about the New Democratic Majority.
Available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and The Conservative Book Club. - kinghajj, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14Yes, I find it hard to believe that a few "Paulites" on Digg have thousands of fake accounts. Digg is democratic, so the people decide what goes on it (made most obvious by the HD-DVD key incident.) People digg Ron Paul articles because they like him, sympathize with his struggle, etc.
- NewDirection, on 10/10/2007, -7/+20I'm voting for Ron Paul.
What problem do you have with him? - NewDirection, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15He represents the original values of the republican party. He was one of the first supporters of Ronald Reagan. This guy will save the republican party.
