GOP Plans to Skirt Campaign Finance Laws

politico.com — The RNC has tapped a GOP media consultant to run an independent expenditure campaign set up to target Barack Obama, according to a source familiar with the plan. The decision to set up a separate arm was driven by the financial freedom such an entity offers. There is no limit on what an independent expenditure can spend.

  • GaryKarr, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1Of course the digger's headline is biased toward Obama, who flip-flopped on campaign finance to skirt ALL campaign finance regulations. But if I were backing a candidate who SHOULD be up by 20 points and is only up by single digits, I'd start slinging whatever I could too.
