- GhostyBoy, on 05/07/2008, -25/+84I liked Ron Paul, but I know (unlike some) that we have been beat. I can accept defeat.
But I'd like to make a request: I know my guy is done. We ALL know Clinton is done. And we can safely assume that Bush has destroyed the Republicans chances this year by being the single worst President in history.
So instead of letting the media turn the rest of this election into a giant flaming circus, can we all just speak in terms of what we will do now that Obama *is* the inevitable next President? Let's just stop the media dead in it's tracks from continuing to drag this out by profiting off the perpetuation of dirty, irrelevant politics.
Obama will win. We can say this now with the same factual nonchalant tone that one would say the sky is blue. - inactive, on 05/07/2008, -5/+55I don't think you can safely assume anything in politics. I remember, when Bush's daddy was running, saying "there is NO WAY Americans will elect a former head of the CIA".
The democratic party has shown, many times over, it is more than capable of snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory... - dgendreau, on 05/07/2008, -13/+58"The Republicans failed to control spending in Iraq"
Failed to control?!? You make it sound like it was all an accident. No the Republicans screwed the American people for their own personal gain.
"Too many bribes, not enough bombs."
Typical Republican. Like more killing will make this situation better. Iraq is a side show to distract the American people from the wholesale theft of America's assets. - brokencode, on 05/07/2008, -9/+52Give me Ron Paul!
- kemp34, on 05/07/2008, -7/+44Should have listened to Ron Paul.
- GhostyBoy, on 05/07/2008, -5/+41That sounds like something I would have written in the 3rd grade and my teacher still would have failed me for it.
- Ghoztt, on 05/07/2008, -3/+33Ron Paul vs. Barack Obama
Ooooh yeaah! - inactive, on 05/07/2008, -3/+33They already are and they deserve it.
vote Ron Paul 2008 - Cryptocracy, on 08/17/2008, -0/+27McCain has sent me 8 requests for donations (I used to think McCain was OK back in 2000) he has received from me 8 Ron Paul slimjims in his Postage paid envelopes.
- RobTyree, on 05/07/2008, -5/+32Clearly you, as most of America, has been misinformed. I was at the Nevada Republican State Convention and personally know at least 5 Ron Paul delegates that were elected to to on to the RNC. The voting is not yet finished, but I fully expect that Nevada will send at least 15-20 Ron Paul delegates on to the RNC by the time everything is said and done. Since Nevada only has 34 delegates, it's very possible that the majority of our delegates could be RP supporters.
Results like ours are much more commonplace than most people have been led to believe. We might not have the strength to win, but Ron Paul will make some noise at the RNC, of that you can be sure.
The Republican Party needs to change it's tune, and Ron Paul has the new sheet music. - Hillsfar, on 05/07/2008, -16/+38To paraphrase that dastardly Rev. Wright, who himself borrowed from former Ambassador Peck, "The Republicans' chickens are coming home to roost!"
- rmxz, on 05/07/2008, -4/+25For those who say the republican party's too broken to fix, I don't think so.
Here's what they could do to bring me back:
* They need to visibly distance themselves from the neocons.
* They need to move back to fiscal responsibility that the party once stood for (as opposed to Bush's record spending).
* They need to do something *strong* about the lies-leading-to-wars (nigerian uranium?) and possible war crimes (abu gharaib and other beatings and deaths of both suspects and innocent civilians) and other debacles - including war-crimes investigations and probably trials for those who knowingly lied to deceive the public into this war.
So could they fix it? Yup. Will they? I doubt it. - dimebonics, on 05/07/2008, -14/+34DO YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS LARRY? DO YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS LARRY? DO YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU ***** STRANGERS IN THE ASS! THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS LARRY.
- SnapETom, on 05/07/2008, -3/+23I'm a lifelong Republican and former activist during my college years. This party's leadership is ***** and is out of touch with conservative values.
1) Stick to good, reasonable economic policies. Stop the spending and forget this gas tax holiday nonsense. Let those who overborrowed eat cake.
2) Stop with the security/terrorism message. Nobody outside of New York/NJ cares.
3) Keep pounding the limited government message. It resonates with the moderates and will placate the religious right. It worked for Reagan.
With that said, McCain will lose this year because it's too late and the party is full of corrupt bastards and sexual perverts. I'm pointing to you, David Vitter, Larry Craig, and Mark Foley. - inactive, on 05/07/2008, -7/+24Looking at Congress and the lack of anything noteworthy getting done by them, the same can be said about the Dems.
- jpete71chevmal, on 05/07/2008, -5/+22If any of the three morons running now wins, we all lose. It's as simple as that. The lesser of three evils is still evil. Vote Ron Paul and vote for a man with integrity.
- rancemo, on 05/07/2008, -4/+20They took a huge ***** on the only candidate that could win, and now that it's almost over they're trying to save face! COWARDS!!! Now we get stuck with a Marxist!
- EelfinnTy, on 05/07/2008, -3/+18So your saying they need Ron Paul. I couldn't agree more.
- Hillsfar, on 05/07/2008, -7/+21That's just one of the many Republican failures.
- Zippo, on 05/07/2008, -16/+30After Bush, it'd take a miracle for the GOP to win... someone radically different. Let's face it, McCain isn't that different from Bush.
So, unless something happens to McCain and Jesus himself joins the party, they're *****... that, or they rig the elections again.
Let's just hope that Obama wins the Democratic vote... eitherwise America's *****, no matter who they vote in. - FukUrCouch, on 05/07/2008, -5/+18The problem for the GOP is that Bush is still president and ***** up the country. Anything bad Bush does it's gonna get pinned on McCain.
- drlha, on 05/07/2008, -2/+14Nothing loses an election more successfully than the assumption of victory. Just ask the UK Labour Party after the 1992 general election.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheffield_Rally - Cryptocracy, on 08/17/2008, -2/+13you wont have a job long without Ron Paul....
- kwazyhulk, on 05/07/2008, -4/+15Didn't Samwise Gamgee sing something like that about Mount Doom to cheer up Frodo?
- blackcloud333, on 05/07/2008, -3/+14Ahh, that's good to know. We're not as ***** up as Zimbabwe. With high standards like that, we are well on our way back to being a good country.
- dafragsta, on 05/07/2008, -1/+12Jesus is a Libertarian. He thinks Anne Coulter is a bitch too.
- dafragsta, on 05/07/2008, -1/+12I think it would at least be the best election in history, where I could be equally optimistic either way. I guess that's because I'm a bit of a Libercrat.
- DiscoLando, on 05/07/2008, -5/+15I'd consider electing either a mainline Democrat or Republican an Election Disaster. Who wants more of the same crap we've been fed the past 20+ years?
- DaDrake, on 05/07/2008, -5/+15Or perhaps they don't agree with Obama's socialist message and his foreign policy? Oh who am I kidding.... anyone who disagree with one platform MUST be racist??? right?
If you want to convince the "other side" to vote for your candidate.... best to bring up some points instead of juvenile insults. - roho76, on 05/07/2008, -3/+12Republicans, Democrats.....who gives a *****. You people are all retarded. You wouldn't know a good candidate if it gave you all the money in it's pocket to help you feed your family.
Here's a little tid bit for all you liberals. Did you know that over the past one hundred years Democrats have started pretty much every war. And it has taken a Republican to get us out it.
So enough already with the No your a Republican....No your a Democrat petty *****. You guys are fighting over wether you wanna get your ass kicked with the Right leg or the Left leg. Either way your going to get you ass handed to you. - unclefire, on 05/07/2008, -1/+10I find it amusing that they're saying they want to be the party of change and reform. Yet, in having the majority in the legislature for over a decade and 8 years of the whitehouse, they have not reformed or changed anything for the positive. So what will they do next if they regain the majority- screw things up even more?
- OUberLord, on 05/07/2008, -4/+13No, they were the only ones that baselessly started one.
- dafragsta, on 05/07/2008, -2/+11Yep. I agre 100%. How quickly we forget 2004.
- cecinestpasvrai, on 05/07/2008, -1/+10McCain IS like Bush in most ways that matter right now. He has no problem with a prolonged presence in Iraq, He's for the same ***** tax cuts for the wealthy as Bush (though he was once against them), he has no real plan for economic relief. A less corrupt government would be great to have, but but almost ANYONE WITH A SOUL is likely to be less abusive than Bush.
- DaDrake, on 05/07/2008, -2/+11What are you talking about? Congress approval rating has gone down even further after democrats took congress. Also, how is his comment anti-troop and anti-american?
- johnandlandry, on 05/07/2008, -6/+15The Republican brand has been badly damaged? What about the Democrats, who have drawn out a mudslinging campaign for far longer than they should have? Are we really sure that the Republicans are the ones that should be worried? Talk to me when the Democrats actually have a nominee.
- roho76, on 05/07/2008, -1/+9I don't even know how to demean you for that ***** ass statement. Because you pretty much demean your self with your own ignorance.
- CobaltBlue, on 05/07/2008, -2/+10I wouldn't write them off yet. They turned a draft dodger into more of a war hero than an actual war hero.
- momto7, on 05/07/2008, -0/+8Ron Paul has been the answer..but always ingored.
He believes in the principles of the "old" republican party.
Less government, minding our own business in the world, personal responsibilty
It was an insult to American to try to shove John McCain down our throats ..there are alot of us that will not accept McCain at all. - goofrey137, on 05/07/2008, -12/+20why wouldnt republicans just steal the election again like they did the last 2 times?
http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/10432334/wa ... - 1159, on 05/07/2008, -2/+10I heard Obama's got TWO black children!!
Thank you Mr. Colbert. - withears, on 05/07/2008, -0/+8That's awesome! You're like 40 cent!
- InfamousAtheist, on 05/07/2008, -4/+12I thought that was during a post-coital snuggle.
- inactive, on 05/07/2008, -1/+8Gosh the next 4 years aren't looking that great no matter who takes it in November.
I hope McCain picks a good VP, cause as a republican, I'm not too excited about him.
Right now the polls I think are showing pretty much even. Who is running as VP on both sides is a pretty big deal I think.
A bad choice can spell election doom. - inactive, on 05/07/2008, -0/+7Oh look, FACTS. The New York Times, asking the CIA Director question:
"The question raised by these cases was almost universally dodged during the 1988 election campaign: "Do the American people really want to elect a former director of the CIA as their President," as Tom Wicker posed it in the New York Times of April 29, 1988. "That's hardly been discussed so far; but it seems obvious that a CIA chief might well be privy to the kind of 'black' secrets that could later make him-- as a public figure--subject to blackmail." Here is one area where we can be sure that we have only scratched the surface."
Apology accepted. - JIMR1150GS, on 05/07/2008, -0/+7Damned if a Ron Paul platform wouldn't beat them all!
