- freedomjoe, on 12/27/2008, -44/+228unbelievable.
kkkriminals, the lot of them. - woodsjransom, on 12/27/2008, -21/+171She probably won't get the same time if convicted that most would receive under the same circumstance either. WATCH WHAT HAPPENS.
- kismetropolis, on 12/27/2008, -8/+129I don't find it unbelievable.
I don't even find it surprising.
"Do as we say, not as we do," that's their whole schtick. - novenator, on 12/27/2008, -17/+132The Palins have already demonstrated that they hold personal grudges and have no problem pressuring officials to fire law enforcement. I hate to have my expectations set to damn low from the republican party, but this really comes as no surprise.
- cslawren, on 12/27/2008, -14/+113You know that the Obama haters are saying "so what?" I really hope that Obama's administration can push this wave of corruption out of Washington, because this is ridiculous. Granted, I can somewhat understand waiting until Secret Service protection was lifted, but even then I think the Secret Service would step aside for a criminal investigation. It's not like people with Secret Service protection are just granted immunity.
- dienaked, on 12/28/2008, -11/+102Does anyone actually read the linked stories, or does everyone just assume the headline on Digg is true and accurate?
Nowhere in that article does it say anything about the GOP doing this.
It was 'state officials' who delayed it until she no longer was under Secret Service surveillance.
I'm sure the state got all the Secret Services' surveillance tapes and video which just makes their case easier in court. - MarciaJ720, on 12/27/2008, -17/+101They did not want to bring to the forefront of the News that Wasilla is the Meth/Drug capital of Alaska. Apparently, Sarah didn't do too much about it during her time in office.
Of course, I'm one who believes in relaxing the drug laws and getting rid of the Drug War that is costing us way too much money but the Pharmaceutical Industry wants to continue to protect their own profits.
More people die from Aspirin alone in the U.S. than you think (over 7,000 a year). - niradg, on 12/27/2008, -13/+84These people are common trailer trash who were dressed up at Neiman Marcus like Barbie & Ken.
- apastafarian, on 12/27/2008, -14/+85Was it the GOP, or fear of reprisals from Palin if she felt was being embarrassed during the campaign? I'm guessing it was more of the later than the former. OTH, Sarah had no problem being the embarrassment during the campaign.
- kingofinternet, on 12/27/2008, -21/+92palin's own kid was an oxy using delinquent before they shipped him off to iraq
- ironhide, on 12/27/2008, -5/+71You realize that the blago thing didn't even exist until after the election right? If fact it was impossible for it to have existed since it was about trying to sell Obama's seat.
- Phylter, on 12/27/2008, -10/+75It's quite obvious from the last eight years (at least) that "the law" is only for the "little people"...

It says nothing, I repeat NOTHING about the GOP doing this.. it says it was "state officials" who delayed the arrest until she was no longer under secret service protection. Digg has lost all relevance and has nothing to say except the rumors that it perpetually generates out of ether.
- ehaugan, on 12/28/2008, -3/+49You forgot BACON
- johnnr2, on 12/27/2008, -6/+49Tundra trash, actually.
- Craig304958, on 12/28/2008, -3/+39Only because the south was historically Democratic (it's the Democratic Party, by the way - there is no Democrat Party). Since Nixon started pandering to the south's lowest common denominator going on 40 years ago, stoking hatred and racism, the KKKers have become reliable core GOP voters. Good, religious Christians, those KKK people.
- apastafarian, on 12/27/2008, -4/+40By delaying her arrest because of its effect on the election, the police were being used as a "tool for partisan politics". If you're an idealist, then you should want her to be treated as anyone not connected to a VP candidate would be treated, which in this case means she should have been arrested months ago.
- inactive, on 12/27/2008, -16/+51Wow that's just sad. I wonder how many people and kids she dealt highly addictive drugs to while while Palin and the Republican Party were playing politics.
- PaperKutter, on 12/28/2008, -3/+38Ted Stevens ring a bell?........hahaha just stfu
- odenv2, on 12/28/2008, -7/+42I love to hate on Palin as much as the next guy, but from the article it doesn't sound like the GOP or Mccain campaign even knew about the investigation. I agree the arrest should not have been delayed, but don't blame it on the republicans without at least a bit of evidence showing they even knew about it.
That said I still hope this helps to get rid of any notion of Palin in 2012. - christopher100s, on 12/28/2008, -14/+41All the state officials in Alaska are Republicans.
- kingofinternet, on 12/28/2008, -6/+32hey buddy, remember this?
"This is unbelievable. A girl is beaten up and has a letter carved in her face and the lemmings on this site say, "So what? An Obama supporter was threatened for having an Obama sign in there yard!"
Guess what? IT ISN'T the same thing. The hypocrisy on Digg is overwhelming. It is unimaginable the conversation and hate speech that would take place if the roles were reversed. Someone was physically assaulted and abused in a horrific way and this is how Obama supporters respond. Wow.
It makes me sick. "
That was you last month. - DubYaSee, on 12/28/2008, -3/+28Palin is worthy of fear and loathing, because of her talent for stirring up the mouth breathing, snake handlin', inbred, Republican base. I have to agree with your sentiment that Palin garners too much attention, but it was truly frightening what she exposed in the American public, during the campaign.
- AlanLivingston, on 12/28/2008, -4/+27I completely agree with you. But I just can't stop myself from clicking when I see a Palin story. They're so much fun!
- inactive, on 12/28/2008, -3/+26Agreed. It's "treatment for me, but a cage for thee!" for the politically-connected druggies here in Florida, and I've seen that pattern over and over. Drugwar worshippers are such hypocrites.
- pintomp3, on 12/28/2008, -1/+23"Except for the fact that the KKK has been historically Democrat." until LBJ signed the civil rights act and the dixiecrats jumped to the republican party. btw, the KKK is a christian organization.
- kismetropolis, on 12/28/2008, -5/+27Really? When was the last time you saw a Democrat's arrest slowed down for expedience?
- HappyScrappy, on 12/28/2008, -5/+27I bet he's driven over the speed limit before too.
- inactive, on 12/28/2008, -17/+39How awful. The GOP kept this dangerous woman out of jail so she could continue to sell mountains of drugs to children, just so Sarah Palin had a better chance of being elected?!@?!
Monsters.
/reverse GOP editing - LemurDaddy, on 12/28/2008, -8/+29You know, you were making a good point until the "you people" bit. Unfortunately, that forces me to bury you, 'cause you sound like a whiny, defensive bitch.
Next time you want to make a valid point, don't lard it up with ad hominem attacks on the entire community, mmkay? - ghostoftomjoad, on 12/28/2008, -5/+26i hate palin as much as the next guy, but where does it say the GOP had anything to do with this? This is a very misleading title
- ironhide, on 12/27/2008, -3/+24I fail to see your point then since the attempted sale was the only thing Obama was even distantly assocated with.
- pinguwin, on 12/28/2008, -7/+28How can you somewhat understand waiting until the protection is lifted? What if, heaven NO!!!, Palin made it into office and the protection continued? There is no excuse, to me, whatsoever for delaying legal actions on that basis. When Cheney shot that guy, they delayed the investigation until he sobered up, even after the local Sheriff came around asking questions, and they used the whole, secret service umbrella, notion to shield him and delay.
I'm asking this question in the first sentence in a totally non-inflammatory, non-trolling way, just interested to hearing your thinking. - olenick, on 12/28/2008, -3/+23If Clinton, as a sitting President, wasn't supposed to be distracted by an ongoing witch-hunt of a sex harassment claim, the mother of the kid who impregnated the VP candidate's daughter is eligible for arrest. The Obama haters (the correct term is Republicans) say "so what" to anything ... as long as it's a Republican politician or affiliated person misbehaving. For everybody else it's the "era of personal responsibility" with draconian criminal and civil legislation to keep people in-line.
- Alheithinn, on 12/28/2008, -2/+22Please, UberGeek. He poured his mothers ashes into the ocean. Are you equating this with selling and possibly manufacturing illegal drugs? According to Palin's own legal theory, called "guilt by association", Palin IS guilty. You can't have it both ways.
- johnhummel, on 12/28/2008, -4/+24I'm sorry, but that's a bunch of hooey.
"Oh, we totally would have charged X with [murder|selling drugs|rape] but they were under the protection of the secret service!"
Sorry, but that's a sorry excuse. Governor Blago of Illinois has a security detail - and they arrested him. They served Clinton with sexual harrassment papers - and he had a secret service detail.
So the "Uh, we would have charged them with a crime but they had secret service around them" is bogus. They delayed it not because of legal reasons but public image reasons. - Cattywampus, on 12/28/2008, -9/+29Exactly right... anyone who actually took 3 minutes to read the article would note that "GOP" appears nowhere in the story. There could be a number of reasons why the state officials or police didn't want to move on a suspect who was under Secret Service surveillance or protection.
- apothekari, on 12/28/2008, -1/+20It's not the drugs.
Or the drug dealers or users.
It's the hypocrisy we don't like.
A normal person gets caught with a half O of weed and your party wants to execute them or throw them in prison for 40 years.
Limbaugh doctor shops or someone connected to a Republican figure gets busted stealing drugs from charities and it's "poor, poor dear's addicted! show some compassion!"
But you "Righties" are completely blind to hypocrisy at this point, so I'm not surprised you didn't get that. - kyoobeh, on 12/28/2008, -2/+21people who live in trailers are not necessarily trailer trash.
in fact, you don't even have to live in a trailer to be trailer trash, get over yourself.
if you live in a trailer and the term "trailer trash" invokes such feelings for you, then maybe you should do something to move OUT of your trailer.
obviously the Palin's aren't literally trailer trash, but they are the scum of the earth.
and most people like that live in trailers. - explodey, on 12/28/2008, -0/+19Both of which haven't actually happened yet.
- induren, on 12/28/2008, -6/+24Um who the hell actually READ this article?!
The GOP's done a lot of things but they weren't responsible for this. Cops had to wait because of Secret Service protection. Good lord!
Totally buried! - seanovan, on 12/28/2008, -2/+20You forgot pandas and goats.
- joand315, on 12/28/2008, -1/+18Blago's indictment had nothing to do with national politics. Fitzgerald was hoping to string it out for another year or so, to see what other big fish in Illinois politics he could reel in. I wouldn't be surprised if he was trying to catch da mayor.
- 99er, on 12/28/2008, -8/+25Inaccurate title used just to get Diggs. Nowhere in the story does it say that the GOP had anything to do with this.
- Mujokan, on 12/28/2008, -7/+22Interesting but weird story. As others have said, has nothing to do with the Republican party. I am an Obama supporter, but I see no problem in delaying this prosecution a little while.
"The trooper's affidavit indicates that Sarah Palin's candidacy factored into the investigation, with state officials delaying execution of a search warrant until this month, when Johnston was "no longer under the protection or surveillance of the Secret Service."
Yah, it is interesting. But might have had an unfortunate and irrelevant impact on the election.
That said, the Republican camp launched dozens of totally irrelevant and spurious attacks on Obama over the campaign. Guess you guys are lucky that someone else realized your ***** attitude was irresponsible and generally ***** up. - eviltandem, on 12/28/2008, -0/+14@lead2thehead
I saw what you did there. He said it wasn't about any of what happened, it was about the hypocrisy. To which you ignored his point and continued talking about what was done.
Liberals by and large were not flaming Limbaugh for using the drugs, it was that he repeatedly voiced his opinion that drug addicts were barely human and deserved nothing but our scorn... until it turned out he was a drug addict. Then he wanted the whole thing to go away quietly - because of course, Rush is special, not like "other" drug abusers.
We don't care that he used, and are glad he is getting help. It's that he wants to prevent others from getting the treatment he wants for himself that irks us.
If it's good enough for Rush, it's probably good enough for other junkies as well... - olenick, on 12/28/2008, -3/+17Palin is the GOP ... she's a Republican Governor and was their choice for VP.
- still0lil0wagon, on 12/28/2008, -2/+15i'm sure yopu had no problem with their reporting on John Edwards... and as for your assertion that every media outlett in the world was reporting on Ashley Todd's "face carving"... that's total b.s. Only right wing outlets like drudge and fox news ran with it. CNN didn't so it because it was OBVIOUSLY a made up story... the freakin B was backwards... lol... But people like you fell for it HOOK LINE AND SINKER... why? because you're probably a racist right wing loon that thinks the Vietnam war was a good idea... and so was Iraq...
- selil, on 12/28/2008, -3/+16Story doesn't say anything about the GOP being involved. "Step Mom" in the original description umm. no.. It would be "mother in-law".. buried as lame. Not front page material.

What is Digg?
