- Anomaly100, on 03/26/2009, -7/+110"After 27 days, the best House Republicans could come up with is a 19-page pamphlet that does not include a single real budget proposal or estimate. There are more numbers in my last sentence than there are in the entire House GOP budget."
Well, at least their showing there's an alternative to the President's plan....Bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha! - johnnr2, on 03/26/2009, -5/+96A 19 page pamphlet dedicated to the principles of a Neo-Hooverism. Now they're ready to lead!
- freedomjoe, on 03/26/2009, -6/+86OMG. What in the heck is going on with these people? And today, Palin came out with her great plan for her state, which involves stealing from future generations from a fund set aside for the future and protected constitutionally.
And they wonder why we voted them out of office.
And since when are tax cuts free? We're still paying for the Bush tax cuts to the rich in the form of a huge deficit Obama inherited. Along with the Iraq war deficit, which Bush "hid" under a different line item. Rebrand it baby. - inactive, on 03/26/2009, -9/+88Nuke the popcorn boys & girls. This is going to get ugly.
FTA:
"Norah O'Donnell asked Mike Pence to provide basic details, to no avail. Pence continued to talk about details as forthcoming. O'Donnell sort of thought that having continually criticized the administration for projecting a long-term deficit figure, that it was absurd that the GOP couldn't even offer their own projection for the sake of comparison. Pence suggested that the very fact that the GOP plan was getting criticized constituted "progress." Uhm...not really."
There all blaming each other now:
But that's not the worst of it: Politico's Glenn Thrush is reporting that critics of this "blueprint budget" include Eric Cantor and Paul Ryan, and that the whole proposal is part of a Mike Pence ego trip:
Go read the rest! - Firstdaughter, on 03/26/2009, -6/+74The best way to describe the GOP is to say that the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing and the right hand is masturbating!
- trolleyfan, on 03/26/2009, -1/+66Well, an alternative, yeah. But we've already *tried* "stupid" the last eight years and it didn't work at all well...
- CaptObvious, on 03/27/2009, -8/+62What?? The Republican party is a bunch of blow-hards with nothing to contribute? I had no idea!!!!
/s (as if it was needed) - kingofinternet, on 03/26/2009, -3/+54the right hand is masturbating a stranger in an airport bathroom
- GrandmaSheila, on 03/27/2009, -6/+54Their utter ***** is totally hilarious. Boner stares at the camera like a doped-up deer in the headlights, spinning their complete lack of any intelligent "recovery" plan, other than siphoning off future national revenues into the pockets of the RICH, (tax cuts), while the economy collapses in the course of two or three WARS. CUT NATIONAL REVENUE! This is their solution to it all. Meanwhile the looting of the citizens continues apace, as KBR mysteriously gets the Pentagon contract to FIX thefaulty Electric Showers KBR installed in the bases in Iraq, that have killed and injured so many. They are getting PAID to repair the fatal mess they were paid billions to install!
They are traitors, who are actively working to destroy the people and the country, in their insane delusion of regaining power.
They should be treated as such - steger, on 03/27/2009, -5/+49Norah O'Donnell will look up and shout "did you put out this blueprint because the White House has been calling you the party of NO?"
and Mike Pence will whisper..."NO". - woodsjransom, on 03/27/2009, -4/+48...I think that the Republicans are positioning themselves for 2010.
the best House Republicans could come up with is a 19-page pamphlet that does not include a single real budget proposal or estimate.
...packed with urban-suburban hip-hop "flava" and dance moves...
That does it for me. They don't have an alternative plan and nothing to say AS USUAL. Come on 2010, gimme some new material already. - joeditto, on 03/27/2009, -5/+45It's time for these so called representives of the public.. to seek out another way to make a living...maybe they can find permanet work with Jerry Springer or do a sequel of the GONG SHOW!
Hey Minority Leader John Boehner...America is fed up with your parties Tunnel Vision..get with the program. - absurdist, on 03/27/2009, -5/+37And of course, the only well-defined part of this proposal is a 10% tax cut for the wealthy.
Playing to their base? Yes. Likely to be accepted by the vast majority of Americans? Hardly. - ganymede2010, on 03/26/2009, -5/+36Good, let them fight it out amongst themselves, as they have been lately. In the end, Darth Bush will have to implement the 2 only rule to preserve what's left of the GOP.
- pickleprince, on 03/26/2009, -2/+31I laughed, out loud even.
- Insightful, on 03/27/2009, -4/+30I swear I am not making this up. They will announce the details next Wednesday.
That's right, the numbers and details are coming on April Fool's day.
Again, not making this up. This is GOP's best minds at work here. - inactive, on 03/27/2009, -4/+27Republicans? are there any around anymore I thought most of them moved to Dubai.
- DFutureIsNow, on 03/27/2009, -4/+25Thats what republicans call a budget? Whats the titile? A thesis in INCOMPETENCE !!!
Can you at least wipe your ass with it? It has to be good for something... probably written by their "Dear Leader" Rush Limbaugh - Firstdaughter, on 03/26/2009, -2/+22Thanks :) I made that one up to describe my place of work years ago but it applies here as well.
- shupy, on 03/27/2009, -2/+22Well lets hope the voters that elected them are embarrassed enough to get back to the polls and fix their mistake.
- novenator, on 03/27/2009, -2/+21They have tried desperately to put a new mask on, but they offer primarily the same economic policies that failed our country under Bush! All they can seem to do other than that is say 'no' to anything the Democrats want to do. What do they expect except ridicule?
- normlsparky, on 03/27/2009, -3/+21FTA: "There's one more picture of a windmill than there are charts of numbers. And there's exactly one picture of a windmill."
At least their pamphlet had a picture of a windmill. Who can argue against windmills? They should have thrown in a picture of a puppy, a rainbow and a few unicorns to solidify their position. - nick01584, on 03/27/2009, -0/+18it's pretty funny that they investigate the road to recovery when they realized that nobody liked what they did for 8 years. i seriously doubt if obama had lost they would have changed anything at all though.
- joeditto, on 03/27/2009, -3/+20I hope so....but many of them are Brainwashed by Limbaugh & Hannity etc...it's sad they are unable to think for themselves.
- lordmike, on 03/27/2009, -4/+20It's not a budget but, a picture book.. a nice windmill, a british family (???), but look at the charts, man!!
http://washingtonindependent.com/wp-content/upload ...
Now, that's a budget! Who needs numbers! Numbers are for sissy liberals! We've got ovals... and lines... and a box or two... - novenator, on 03/27/2009, -3/+19Not all of them, but I certainly can't seem to find a neocon ANYWHERE anymore. It's like nobody ever voted for Bush, supported his insane policies, and used vicious attactics on any dissenters, even from their own party. Where did they all go?
- RagManX, on 03/27/2009, -3/+19I, unfortunately, work with a whole gaggle of them. Only one is willing to listen to any reasonable disagreement with his views, but he still dismisses most claims that don't match his opinions. They all also think Palin will be the next President (although on one point I agree with them - I *really* hope she's the leading candidate for 2012).
- my2centworth, on 03/27/2009, -1/+16Now the whole GOP is having a "Steele" moment. This is their master plan. They mean to put themselves in a position to be heckled. Their REALLY smart (on the inside). The Dems are falling right into their trap. yeah right. yup..I'm a believer.
- Mokshaguy390, on 03/27/2009, -4/+18For people who are arguing that HuffPo is biased:
"And yet, I still remember Geithner, rightly getting criticized for a presentation that did not live up to the advance word that President Barack Obama himself put out on the street. The administration, quite rightly, took their lumps for suggesting Geithner was going to deliver the goods when, in reality, he was far from ready for prime time. And the GOP, fairly, led that chorus of criticism."
He concedes that Geithner's budget was very poorly presented but argues instead that if Republicans want to counter it with their own budget, then they need something substantial, not a numberless pamphlet. - biotch, on 03/27/2009, -0/+14I love how he says her criticism of there being no plan, is a criticism of their plan... which is somehow progress from when earlier this morning people said there was no plan...
@ 2:40 - draculthemad, on 03/27/2009, -0/+13Trolleyfan, I wish I could dig that comment twice.
- biotch, on 03/27/2009, -4/+17We're still paying for the tax cuts that Reagan gave the rich in the 80s...
Reagan, Bush sr. and Bush jr. consecutively broke the deficit record. - DFutureIsNow, on 03/27/2009, -5/+18We got "NO BUDGET" from the "PARTY OF NO"... sounds familiar... All I saw was a bunch of circles looks like ***** swiss cheese, full of HOLES!!
Seriously, thats what republicans call a budget? Whats the titile? INCOMPETENCE a 12 step program !!!
Can you at least wipe your ass with it? It has to be good for something... probably written by their "Dear Leader" Rush Limbaugh - inactive, on 03/27/2009, -0/+12Are Republicans shooting each other in the face again?
- banderwocky, on 03/27/2009, -1/+13The GOP have turned into a bad joke. What a laughing stock.
- novenator, on 03/27/2009, -3/+15Agreed. In fact, almost all of their potential candidates would be good news for the democrats!
- joeditto, on 03/27/2009, -4/+16Joni...this may be a good time to use your index finger directly at the GOP...
Flip away girl!!!!!!.......:) - Alheithinn, on 03/27/2009, -1/+13Hilarious. More of the same from the Party of no ideas. "Here's our budget but we haven't crunched the numbers yet." We're supposed to buy it because it's got "REPUBLICAN" stamped all over it. Yep, we're familiar with that brand, folks. It's a lemon. We want our money back. Unfortunately, we're not going to get it because the last few Republican budgets have swallowed our economy into a black hole. Now you want us to believe YET ANOTHER Republican budget is going to somehow fix things?
Riiiiiiighhht - Bdog2g2, on 03/27/2009, -0/+12@Maynard
Citation please?
Spent already? Perhaps proposed you mean? And you can't count TARP, that was the previous administrations and Congress' baby. - inactive, on 03/27/2009, -3/+14Schadenfreude: (shäd'n-froi'də) noun – satisfaction or pleasure felt at someone else's misfortune.
I felt a great deal of Schadenfreude while watching the Republicans flail. - inactive, on 03/27/2009, -2/+13lol!
- DD2CC2U, on 03/27/2009, -3/+14The GOP's budget was just another "hack job" put together for political reasons not meant to really solve the problems facing the United States.
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -5/+16because addressing the issue is much too difficult.
- novenator, on 03/27/2009, -1/+12Which one is asleep?
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -0/+11It's a star wars reference. That I know this is slightly embarrassing. But there could only be two siths in a given galaxy.
Gah, here let me embarrass myself more...
Senator Palpatine was an undercover Sith in Episode One. The other Sith was Darth Maul. Obi Wan killed Darth Maul. Count Dooku then became the 2nd sith but was killed by Anakin which cemented Anakin's transition to the dark side and to become Darth Vader.
So... um anyhow. There it is. - macdoodle, on 03/27/2009, -0/+10I especIally loved the only numbers in the outline was a significant tax cut for the most wealthy!!!!!
WHEN ARE MODERATE GOPS going to stand up to those far righters still fighting for a 2 class America?
The few and USA as cheap labor, lack of information and one religion controlling law and gov't tossed in..
BE PATRIOTIC- put down the flags, toss the pins, stop buying the 99c troops magnets...and SPEAK OUT GOPPERS!!!!!!! STAND UP FOR DEMOCRACY, MODERATION, COMMON SENSE.

WE NEED TO COOPERATE ! PITCH IN ! HELP YOUR NEIGHBOR!
TO SAVE THE FREEDOMS AND PRINCIPALS OF A GOOD AMERICA!
FOR YOUR FUTURE!
or
Drill Baby Drill the USA's grave.
GET WITH THE SAVE USA PROGRAM OR THE OTHER PROGRAM WILL GET YOU. - blackinthmiddle, on 03/27/2009, -3/+12@PeppermintPig
What the hell are you talking about? Tax cuts means money not coming in to do necessary things. You then have one of two options. Either eliminate those things or pay for them. In Dubya's case, he took it a step further and said, "Well, we'll pay for it...later!" Is this so hard to understand?
For example, Dubya started this ridiculous war in Iraq *while* cutting taxes. Since he didn't take the option of not going to war, someone has to pay for it. And since Bush didn't want to be the bearer of bad news, Obama has been forced to tell Americans to pay up. - AndrewDB, on 03/27/2009, -0/+9The GOP's best minds? .. So what.. one trained ape and a gerbil are now sitting at a desk with a type-writer in the middle of some podunk town somewhere?
- blackinthmiddle, on 03/27/2009, -1/+10I have a republican friend at my job and he's starting to turn around to the dems. At a minimum, he's pissed at his party right now. Specifically, he feels that if you're going to criticize someone, come up with a better plan. If you're just going to object for the sake of objection, it does nobody any good.
Look, here's the bottom line. Republicans gave tax breaks (especially to the wealthy) and spent us into oblivion for the past eight years. As I've said before, if you're pissed at paying higher taxes with Obama, thank Dubya for that! Because you don't start ridiculous wars, spend like a drunken sailor AND give tax breaks and don't expect that someone with a brain will eventually say, "Uh...how are we going to pay for this?" - SpinningHead, on 03/27/2009, -0/+9They already submitted one stimulus plan. Theirs was an expansion of the Bush tax cuts with no estimated cost and nothing for infrastructure. Business as usual. They're a one trick pony.
