- anthelon, on 03/27/2009, -13/+335Please help me get this to the front page. The world needs to know how strong the movement is, how close we actually are to major reform, and how fast it will spread.

LEGALISE RIAA! - izikdela, on 03/28/2009, -3/+137http://www.norml.org
- Frankyfan3, on 03/28/2009, -5/+133I've spoken with at least two non smokers who have donated small amounts to the MPP and/or NORML because they are sick of the hypocrisy of these policies, and were disgusted with Obama's flippant remark which basically made fun of many of his most passionate supporters.
- fightingforair, on 03/27/2009, -23/+148Obama=cog.
Every president becomes one, can't escape it. - inactive, on 03/28/2009, -25/+98He didn't actually say he was against the legalization of pot. He just said he didn't think legalizing it was the answer to the current economic downturn.
Besides, there are still lots of people in this country that seriously and adamantly think that legalizing any drugs would be the downfall of civilization as we know it - with the exception of alcohol and vicoden of course.
Gee, I wonder what the crime/drug addiction rates are in Amsterdam where drugs are tolerated?
/rhet - chewbakalol, on 03/27/2009, -10/+80In your ***** face!
- FreeTalkLIve, on 03/28/2009, -4/+74Millions of people should plant marijuana seeds everywhere. Put them on roadsides and anywhere else you feel like.
Get a pot march going with thousands of people smoking it out in the open. - rchrdcrg, on 03/28/2009, -5/+69I agree with anstice85... My jaw literally hit the floor when I watched this, and it nearly brought me to tears to watch the one man I had vested my hope in let me down so harshly. To say no would be understandable at best, but to make a joke about it and basically insinuate that his online constituency is a bunch of potheads is a ***** insult, and when our own president thinks it's OK to insult me or any of his constituents, he no longer deserves to be respected.
- anstice85, on 03/28/2009, -8/+62I was under the impression that we weren't close at all. I mean, if Obama doesn't even respond to the issue without laughing, how can we be close?
- inactive, on 03/28/2009, -28/+77i find it hilarious how obama just ***** all over his supporters on the internets after they've been promoting, defending, and spamming on his behalf all over the internet.
that should be a lesson to you naive muppets that every politician is a crook. this is especially true in US.

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/03/28/fu ... - Snakeyes11, on 03/28/2009, -4/+47I don't do drugs and never will. But I am glad to see something is getting done about this.
- inactive, on 03/28/2009, -0/+42Buried because no qualified stoner would ever leave a can of Pringles half eaten or surrender a Ho-Ho after one bite.
- anthelon, on 03/28/2009, -0/+41I donated $50.
- Deeh, on 03/28/2009, -2/+39There are some very simple truths that no government, right or left, will ever acknowledge unless we, the people force them to....
The right of freedom allows all of us to choose what we want to do with our own bodies. If you aren't hurting anyone then it is your basic human right to do as you please. Governments only have control as long as we allow it, and we can end it any time we want.
*****'em. ***** their laws. Light up. Some truths are self evident, and we don't need police or government to tell us which ones are which. Their track record sucks anyway. - diggdiggerid, on 03/28/2009, -0/+36I don't mean this to be condescending at all but if you drink alcohol or caffeine you do do drugs. In the end they're just chemicals that interact you in certain ways and that's what they should be judged by, not social stigma.
- thePTS, on 03/28/2009, -8/+44Obama basically said "can you believe these idiots posting such a question? hahaha! what does that tell us about them as people? lazy stoners sitting on their asses in front of the internet. am I right? *collective applauding laughter*",
Then he proceeded to dismiss the question as you dismiss a silly, wide-eyed child who wants to know if "clouds are held up by strings".
Why couldn't he at least have taken 5 minutes to read the arguments, and said that he saw the point of view of the legalization crowd, but he didn't think it was the time? I mean.. although disappointed in such a response, Digg would've masturbated all over his maturity and clearsight, and legalizers would still have seen the potential light at the end of the tunnel.
What he did here was arrogant, and scaringly enough, it was also ignorant. Unfortunately, it was done so exquisitely arrogant that I doubt this is the last arrogant move we'll see from Obama. (and yes, I still think he was a better choice than McCain). - inactive, on 03/28/2009, -16/+46wow can you be any more of an brown noser? he was pretty clear on his stance on marijuana when he yelled "NO!" and then proceeded to mock and laugh at even the suggestion of marijuana legalization.
he pissed in your face and you're still defending him. you're like those white trash chicks on COPS who get beat up by their redneck husbands but still defend him when cops try to arrest him. - inactive, on 03/28/2009, -1/+30My mothers a Cardiologist (Electro physiologist to be specific). She caught me doing gravity bong hits once in high school. She asked if I smoked cigarettes and I told her "no" which was true. Her exact response was "at least you picked the right substance to abuse".
- diggenerate, on 03/28/2009, -1/+29Could you imagine the kick ass weed that I would cultivate?
- tgrear2008, on 03/28/2009, -1/+28Who smokes seeds anyway?
- MrJagil, on 03/28/2009, -0/+27Just wondering, by cog do you mean he has become a tool? Cogs are used in machinery and stuff like that, right?
/foreigner asking - anthelon, on 03/28/2009, -0/+26I've never seen their donation page as slow as it is now.
- Abatrour, on 03/28/2009, -3/+28This was from Obama's own change.gov website.
Q: "Will you consider legalizing marijuana so that the government can regulate it, tax it, put age limits on it, and create millions of new jobs and create a billion dollar industry right here in the U.S.?" S. Man, Denton
A: President-elect Obama is not in favor of the legalization of marijuana.
And of course there is still organized crime in Amsterdam because it is completely legal to buy and smoke marijuana but its still illegal to grow it for some reason. That reason alone means that people are still FORCED to buy from gangs and other illegal sources. - richIsBored, on 03/28/2009, -2/+26Actually he does. The problem is that politicians treat government service like a career. I understand where he's coming from. I have a job myself and I'd like to keep it.
What really kills me is that he has probably the most influential position in all of government and he chooses job security over being honest. - the13thzen, on 03/28/2009, -2/+26Money goes a lot further with MPP. http://www.mpp.org/
- Irashtar, on 03/28/2009, -1/+25They do. A huge amount of the DEA's budget is getting rid of ditchweed.
- pr0carbine, on 03/28/2009, -1/+24furthermore, it suggests that he is simply part of "the machine"
- Namingway, on 03/28/2009, -1/+24just donated 50. why not? I would just waste it on crap anyway.
- twoblink, on 03/28/2009, -2/+25The Mara-juju should have been legal and stayed legal since George Washington days.
If I had a son and I caught him either smoking the bud, or smoking cigarettes, I'd much prefer the juju. - Memitim, on 03/28/2009, -2/+25"Next, his answer is dead on: legalizing marijuana won't do ***** for the economy. Get real. It will save billions in law enforcement, but will turn a high dollar cash crop into a relatively valueless commodity. This is a GOOD thing, of course, but certainly won't help the economy much: fewer law enforcement jobs, fewer people who can support themselves dealing pot."
So creating an entire new legal industry around marijuana, with farmers and cultivators to grow it, distributors to process and ship it, marketing to sell it, and points of sale from convenience stores to specialty retailers to provide it wouldn't do ***** for the economy? Particularly when combined with allowing the cultivation and use of marijuana's incredibly versatile sister product hemp?
Job creation, small business growth, millions in tax income, billions saved every year at the federal and state level on prohibition efforts, law enforcement that is stretched a little less thin by having this off of their plates, drug offenders that no longer bear the criminal stigma and can support themselves legally using their knowledge of marijuana cultivation and marketing.
Won't do *****. Gotcha. - Jensaarai, on 03/28/2009, -0/+22I'm glad to see that even the misinterpretation is leading to some action. But it is not nearly enough.
Have you guys Googled "Marijuana" lately? The top results are mostly government propaganda BS. How many of YOU have donated to NORML or other groups? (I haven't yet, but am setting aside money to do so soon.) Are you working to convince friends, family, and coworkers that cannabis prohibition is a big problem? Have you accepted jury duty with the idea on mind of pldedging "not guilty" on any charges for posession? There are a million other things we could be doing, but it's not getting done. <Insert lazy pot head joke here.>
I dunno. Obama's open admission of using, along with his weak, but right, attempts to reign in DEA raids are a clear signal he's probably got a personal opinion on the matter that lines up with ours. But no matter whatever talk of Change, in the end he is still a politician, and he has bigger fish to fry. At a pathetic 40% support rating, cannabis legalization is not going to be a priority for him. Obama will not fight our battles for us.
We don't do anything more than Digg up stories and post snarky comments. We've been wasting our time. We should have been spending the past few years building a real grassroots movement that would allow the few reasonable politicians out there to speak up without it being political suicide.
I think we can still do it, but we need a lot less bitching and a lot more real work on the issue. - inactive, on 03/28/2009, -2/+23Ya if your bag has seeds, throw 'em in your neighbors yard, on the side of the road, everywhere. Let's get it going like kudzu.
- inverselogic, on 03/28/2009, -2/+22A world where the RIAA is illegal? I just came...
- mparker21311, on 03/28/2009, -2/+21Don't smoke your seeds, throw them out your window when you're driving. What are they going to do when there's Marijuana growing everywhere?
- peteyb1313, on 03/28/2009, -2/+21woah, easy there people, i dont want my female marijuana plants to get pollinated by some random male bush plants
- diggenerate, on 03/28/2009, -2/+19Who cares what he ***** wants, this is about what we want!
- billraydrums, on 03/28/2009, -7/+24How absolutely cavalier and short sighted to laugh at the "Online Crowd", nee' "those that got him elected".
How about some "Change", Big O? As in "Change your attitude?" - MasterGrief, on 03/28/2009, -2/+18If you don't ask, it'll never happen. I don't want to smoke marijuana, but man, I'm not gonna try and stop other people from doing it.
- wrxpert, on 03/28/2009, -2/+18Your right. We should all stop our pursuit to have the right to inhale a plant. Too bad we prefer that instead of violence inducing alcohol. We will just get with the program and do as told.
/s (I know not needed but just in case this guy dose not get it.) - b1spf, on 03/28/2009, -4/+18Stay the course. Send more troops. Fight the imaginary Wars.
No change here, please move along.... - kungfumaniac, on 03/28/2009, -2/+16That they've even take the time address topic in a public forum indicates progress.
- schiavosaurus, on 03/28/2009, -2/+16He laughed because he was high
- the2989, on 03/28/2009, -0/+14Can you imagine how bad putting additives in your weed would drive your business into the ground when most cultivators will stay organic, and the resulting cheap prices due to competion?
- EmptyCraniuM, on 03/28/2009, -1/+14No Thanks, the last thing any of us needs is our weed to be poisoned with harmful chemicals.
- czernel, on 03/28/2009, -1/+14Ahem, Ron Paul would have addressed this as a freedom and personal liberty issue straight away. Just sayin'....
- inactive, on 03/28/2009, -31/+44Unfortunately, the donations consisted of 24 beer bottle caps, six rubber bands, a half-eaten can of Pringles and a Ho Ho -- with only one bite taken out of it.
