- inactive, on 11/08/2007, -4/+74As Henry Kissinger famously said after Vietnam:
“Military men are just dumb stupid animals to be used as pawns in foreign policy.” - Frei, on 11/03/2007, -5/+60FTA: "In a 2004 memo on the deteriorating situation in Iraq, Rumsfeld concluded that the challenges there are "not unusual." Pessimistic news reports -- "our public risk falling prey to the argument that all is lost" -- simply result from the wrong standards being applied..."
By standards he means people not blindly accepting his failures and actually wanting some accountability. I think the publics standards are too low and that's why this administration is still in office. - kaelyiesta, on 11/08/2007, -5/+48Add another bit of evidence to the pile(more like mountain). This whole thing has been planned for a long time, and the agenda is obvious. I just hope PNAC et al. don't get away with this when their reign comes falling down.
Also, this little tidbit here sounds so grotesque that it might have come from a book on a Dystopia like 1984 or some objectivist writers warning: "Sacrifice = Victory"
*****. - aliengoods, on 11/02/2007, -6/+42I, for one, would rather have had John Kerry as our president for the last 3 years.
And you're a ***** moron to think that everyone that voted for him doesn't feel the same way. - mcnasby, on 11/02/2007, -3/+27Gov't propaganda is bad, but what is worse than that is our citizen's lack of critical thinking skills.
At my school I'm enrolled in a cyberspace, technology, and society class. During every class we touch on top-of-mind political issues like terrorism and the war. And without fail, every class someone brings up the fact that we're fighting for our freedom in Iraq because otherwise terrorists would take over our country. I can't help but want to explode in a fit of reason and rationality towards those people and scream "Stop listening to your lying government and think for yourself!!!"
It's absolutely sickening that the *majority* citizens in the US will buy into 1) ANYTHING the MSM says and 2) Every piece of communication (covert PR) released by our government of liars. - mrdeathgod, on 11/08/2007, -4/+25Sounds like he spent more time spinning and PR'ing than he did actually directing and managing defense matters.
- FredFredrickson, on 11/02/2007, -4/+25Absolutely disgusting. And yet, come election day, we'll see a whole slew of people getting behind the same ***** who helped put these men in power. Yes folks, keep electing conservatives. Moral, fiscally responsible, upstanding citizens. We obviously need more of these people running the country.
- gbarberi, on 11/08/2007, -3/+22"Bumper Sticker Statements" = Political Propaganda
- dafragsta, on 11/02/2007, -4/+22Because he committed atrocious felonies and has yet to be charged. That goes for Darth Cheney as well.
- Frostman3D, on 11/08/2007, -10/+27***** DONALD RUMSFELD AND ***** GEORGE BUSH!
- aliengoods, on 11/02/2007, -3/+19On a side note, the administrations efforts to suppress civil liberties are commonly referred to as snowballs. Suspending habeas corpus and throwing innocent people in jail is lovingly known as 'tossing the salad'.
- FriskDown, on 11/08/2007, -6/+20Rumsfeld is just another dirtbag to me.
- DesuKN, on 11/09/2007, -3/+16[Idiot mode]I REFUSE TO READ THIS MOONBA- wait, an actual newspaper printed this? NOOOOOOOOO![/Idiot mode]
- DreKor, on 11/02/2007, -1/+14So THAT'S what tossing a salad means. I was way off.
- MattB123, on 11/02/2007, -3/+15Actually, that's rich people.
- poppieprong, on 11/02/2007, -3/+14FTA: The memos, often referred to as "snowflakes," shed light on Rumsfeld's brusque management style and on his efforts to address key challenges during his tenure as Pentagon chief.
"Snowflakes"? So Rumsfeld's memos are what is keeping us from conducting stem-cell research?
The intricacies of bureaucracy are quite confusing... - phnx0221, on 11/03/2007, -2/+13You can't actually be serious. We have thousands more terrorists than we did before 9/11, we have a chaotic civil war in Iraq where MILLIONS of Iraqi citizens have died, and thousands of American soldiers have died. You're going to have to do a hell of a lot more than link to a right wing think tank to convince the American people, and the rest of the world that this war and the actions of this administration following September 11th, has actually secured this country from the actions of terrorists, instead of securing it from the actions of dissent.
- k3ano, on 11/09/2007, -3/+14Move on to what? If nothing is done with these people, we'll be moving on the the same old *****.
- ZenFountain, on 11/08/2007, -2/+12^ Only problem is, Rummy wasn't a military man. More like McNamara trying to mirco manage the war and spin the public from his stand up desk.
- UberNick, on 11/02/2007, -2/+11Seems like nary a day goes by where we don't get snowballed or have our salads tossed.
- SpudgeBoy, on 11/02/2007, -1/+10Are you ***** kidding me? PNAC? PNAC? You are trying to use PNAC to prove your point. Those ***** are the ones who talked Bush into this ***** fiasco in the first place. Anybody at PNAC or who has signed one of there "reports" should be tried for treason. ***** wanker.
- williamdyer, on 11/02/2007, -2/+11War crimes. No time is too long for justice.
- matriculated, on 11/02/2007, -3/+12Don't politicians avoid physical labor too?
- williamdyer, on 11/02/2007, -3/+12Because war crimes were committed in our name. No quarter.
- keyboardduder, on 11/02/2007, -7/+14But you know that something was going on. He ***** gave up in the end. ***** GAVE UP AND GAVE IT TO HIM
- clone206, on 11/02/2007, -3/+10Freedom is slavery
- xerigen, on 11/02/2007, -3/+10My suspicions are confirmed with proof.. how come I'm not surprised?
- terrordome, on 11/09/2007, -3/+10"Rumsfeld argued that Muslims avoid 'physical labor'"
It's bourgeois pigs like him who are avoiding physical labour. - dagnabbit, on 11/02/2007, -2/+9When John Edwards commented on the "War on Terror" being a bumper sticker statement, the wingnuts jumped all over him. Now that Rummy's own memos urge the very creation of "bumper sticker statements" in order to influence public opinion about the war, Edwards should be getting his apology any minute now....
- hiphoc, on 11/02/2007, -5/+12Does this guy ever die? He is like the headless horseman. Geez
- Rimrock, on 11/02/2007, -1/+8Whoa..deep
- phnx0221, on 11/03/2007, -2/+8Ignorance is strength.
- tonto69, on 11/08/2007, -7/+13How's this for a bumper sticker statement? "No More Wars for Israel!"
- BlacklabelSAR, on 11/02/2007, -2/+7So Rumsfield is shown to be a terrorist. From Wiki:
As a form of unconventional warfare, terrorism is sometimes used when attempting to force political change by convincing a government or population to agree to demands to avoid future harm or fear of harm, destabilizing an existing government, motivating a disgruntled population to join an uprising, escalating a conflict in the hopes of disrupting the status quo, expressing a grievance, or drawing attention to a cause.
This is exactly what he did to the US population. Of course at the same time Bush constantly told America that it/we should be afraid. - sensoukami, on 11/02/2007, -3/+8Am i disguested? Yes. Am I surprised. ***** no.
You people think this is just Rummy or the present batch of phony Conservatives in the WHite House? I got news for y'all, EVERYONE plays this ***** game of spin & slogans, lies and disinformation. Democrats and Republicans, Left & Right, Bush and Chavez (or Clinton if you prefer).
People like to disparage the average Rush Limbaugh fan, and they are right to do so, but if my Liberal friends think they are (on average) any better, they are saddly mistaken. - blackjack75, on 11/02/2007, -2/+7And this is the principle this whole administration has applied for years. While of course chanting to every hear their admiration for other's people 'sacrifice'.
- ZenMojo, on 11/02/2007, -2/+7Am I the only one who thinks it's stupid that the right-wing term for lefties is "moonbat?" I actually had to look that crap up and found out it's a reference to a damn rocket from a Heinlein novel from the 1940's....
- CletusJones, on 11/02/2007, -3/+8I know man, he's like a case of herpes...you think he's gone...
- JPOOPOO, on 11/09/2007, -2/+7While we're at it, lets stop talking about Jesus and that whole crucification thing, too. I mean that happened, what, 2000 years ago? Seriously people, its time to move on.
btw, thanks Bill Hicks - FluffyWolf, on 11/02/2007, -2/+6Apparently there are many more wars to come...
" Rumsfeld suggested that the public should know that there will be no "terminal event" in the fight against terrorism like the signing ceremony on the USS Missouri when Japan surrendered to end World War II. "It is going to be a long war," he wrote. "Iraq is only one battleground." " - HaywoodGiablomi, on 11/02/2007, -1/+5From their blurb: " The Project for the New American Century / blah blah blah... / and that such leadership requires military strength, diplomatic energy and", get this: "COMMITMENT TO MORAL PRINCIPLE." [[Shouted] emphasis mine].
Uhm... Sure. - kooft, on 11/02/2007, -1/+5"And PNAC is a little more than a "right wing think tank". From the website (and this sums it up nicely):"
Yeah? And that e-card website said they wouldn't use my email address for spam. It's okay, we all get rooked from time-to-time. - hitmonval, on 11/02/2007, -2/+6I'm glad he's gone, but have things changed much?
- jaymzdean, on 11/02/2007, -4/+8"Roll up your sleeves to make it look like you're working".
- pintomp3, on 11/02/2007, -2/+6except the horse is not dead. if he were tried for war crimes and brought to justice, you might have a point.
- BlacklabelSAR, on 11/02/2007, -2/+6I so agree! How many times did we all hear "shock and awe" worked into a conversation after the start of the Gulf War 1, and more recently, how many times have we heard the term "surge" recently? It's like people are parrots. My misanthropy is validated yet again.
- SilverBack101, on 11/02/2007, -2/+6Great a bible thumper AND a racist. What a combo.
- SpudgeBoy, on 11/02/2007, -1/+5Read a couple of comments up. Jesus
- tucsonwc, on 11/02/2007, -1/+5Obviously he meant arabs, but instead generalized it to Muslims as he didn't know there was a difference, let alone a split between ***** and Sunni.
I'm sure to him they were all the same. - BlacklabelSAR, on 11/02/2007, -2/+5Excellent point!
