The public keeps re-electing these dimwits with great expectations of getting something for nothing. When you keep feeding the hogs at the trough, they will keep coming. There is a good reason sewage plants keep stirring the effluent, it separates the crap from something useful. ONE AND DONE! VOTE OUT ALL INCUMBENTS, AT ALL LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT, REGARDLESS OF PARTY.
- johnny2k, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Thank you for your well written, thoughtful comment, honeyhouston! I loved your reference to the great song (that I can now not get out of my head) by Dusty Springfield. You're right, as always, sometimes great music lyrics can say so much that would be hard to explain without long rhetoric. That song fits perfectly with what I was saying above!
When I wrote previously, I said "We all need to learn how to love each other!" That of course would be a wonderful way to prevent our doom, but meanwhile, how to get people to learn how to love each other is much easier said than done. Well, first, somebody had to say it, and maybe it will plant many seeds out there, and then I pray many more people will hear this message. - honeyhouston, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1johnny2k...I couldn't agree more. In fact, you took the words right out of my mouth. To quote an old Dusty Springfield song from the '60s "What the world needs now is love, sweet love, no, not just for some but for everyone!". I can only pray that this song actually has meaning for our world and the people in it.
- johnny2k, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Nevpat, I pray that you're wrong, I pray that our country is not doomed. There is a way to solve this problem, though, and I guess not enough people have mentioned this idea. We all need to learn how to love each other! I know, a fairly simple idea, but I think it could work. Think about it.
- Nevpat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Only the people can be blamed for the dire state of our country! We have become so phoney and materialistic! We have become a nation of fools! I am embarrassed every time I turn on the tv and see what we've become! No wonder our country is doomed.
