Yes, they were muslim (one presumes anyway, but maybe not). Yes, they were black (although I don't think Africans usually identify with the African-American label of black). However, Rush was pushing this fact to either make it seem like Obama didn't want to act against fellow "blacks" or that we shouldn't be surprised since they were "black teens."
Another perfect example - the whole "Barack Hussein Obama" thing. Yeah, it's his name, and he's not ashamed to use it, but when the conservatives use it they emphasize the Hussein to imply that he's muslim...like there's anything wrong with that. Same words, different context. Emphasis matters.
