- sarahlee, on 04/27/2009, -44/+370Well he SHOULD support a health care system like one of the European countries - or Canada. Not sure why they would think citizens would be opposed to that right now. Our current system is crumbling. All the newly unemployed are joining the uninsured. Not exactly what you want to have when facing a potential pandemic.
Not that that makes Fox News less slimy, but still... - presidentraygun, on 04/28/2009, -15/+320Shouldn't we start reporting when FOX doesn't lie.
- LifeNova, on 04/28/2009, -11/+190Tomorrow on FOX News:
Obama manipulates reality to falsify our video clip - BBE1965, on 04/27/2009, -23/+190I only wish Obama was in favor of a health care system modeled after those in Europe or Canada. Ours is grossly inefficient, way too expensive and comes in no way close to taking care of the health needs of our people.
- splosion, on 04/28/2009, -13/+120***** FOX
- Benzobob, on 04/28/2009, -17/+83Anyone shocked? Anyone?
- Seal, on 04/28/2009, -12/+76And what's so wrong with European-style healthcare?
Despite all the claims by American detractors, it works. Heck, a good portion of Americans are on it already. And not only does it work, but it costs less, and the people live longer. No one should have to choose between their health and bankruptcy. - Lefts, on 04/28/2009, -10/+70Daily ko's is an internet based political opinion blog.
Fox, isn't. It's an institution that's supposed to be a lot of things, like objective, unbiased, and trustworthy. Allegedly. - TrouserNinja, on 04/28/2009, -5/+58I am shocked -- SHOCKED -- that Fox News, a pillar and paragon of responsible American journalism could ever stoop to so low a... ggh... heheh... heh... hehehehehahahahahahahahah, sorry, I can never do that with a straight face.
Yeah, they're douchebags. Big surprise. - ManIs5, on 04/28/2009, -3/+55Xenophobes
- Langford, on 04/28/2009, -13/+62At some point FOX must be doing something illegal with all their shenanigans. You can't just swindle and lie forever and expect to get away with it. Is it that they hope to be criticized so they can play like they are being oppressed or something?
- Dream0Weaver, on 04/28/2009, -3/+42No, just incredibly pissed off at fox as usual.
- digg4peace, on 04/28/2009, -1/+39What? You want healthcare like Europe?...how dare you? you just want to turn us into France! The next thing you know you'll be asking for modern transportation and good education! You must be a communist or a fascist or something...
/s - adeelarshad82, on 04/28/2009, -12/+50fox is going out of it's way here to make this government bad. Honestly they will have to try a lot harder to make it look as bad as the last one.
- kelpee, on 04/28/2009, -2/+39I've lived in Canada most of my life and have never had a problem with the health care system, nor have I known any one else to have an issue with it.
- inactive, on 04/28/2009, -8/+44Stop justifying this foolishness by blaming everyone else. First of all, your logic is flawed. Secondly, any crime can be justified by this defense.
What is required is that the people hold Fox accountable for their actions and Ban them from using the word "News" in their title. - KaiserArny, on 04/28/2009, -10/+45If the Canadian system is *****, what can you say about the American one: Canadians live longer, lower infant mortality, and generally healthier I'm Canadian, and as do most of us, if we had a choice we would keep ours, problems and all.
One thing is for we sure have no lessons to learn from the American one. When we're looking for solutions, we're not looking south, we're looking towards Europe and Australia. - SOS84, on 04/28/2009, -3/+35Exactly, the conservative mainstream media edited her interview to make her appear capable of speaking semi-coherently when in fact she is pants on head retarded.
- nysus, on 04/28/2009, -13/+44I don't know what's more pathetic, that Fox would does this kind of ***** or that Americans are dumb enough not to move to a superior health care system for no other reason than the Europeans do it.
- kurttrail, on 04/28/2009, -1/+32It depends on if the tax increase is more than what I & my employer are paying for my health care now.
See, health costs have a major impact on our economy, and if a national health care plan is more efficient and less costly than today, why not? - TheNik, on 04/28/2009, -7/+37Who is *****?
- Rain12913, on 04/28/2009, -4/+33If you think anybody's gonna watch that 7 minute video without at least a brief explanation of your claim than you're sorely mistaken.
- Disgod, on 04/28/2009, -3/+32Dear Fox News,
Quit quote mining you idiots! You're going to get caught every fricking time.
/Not that I would ever expect them to stop.
Fox News' propaganda can be explained by this quote:
"A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on."
-Winston Churchill. - Bulletbillx, on 04/28/2009, -4/+32That reminds me of chris rock's routine. Fox news/any news org is supposed to report WITHOUT lying.
"You know the worst thing about *****? ***** always want credit for some ***** they supposed to do. A ***** will brag about some ***** a normal man just does. A ***** will say some ***** like, "I take care of my kids." You're supposed to, you dumb *****! What kind of ignorant ***** is that? "I ain't never been to jail!" What do you want, a cookie?! You're not supposed to go to jail, you low-expectation-having *****!" - mpn401, on 04/28/2009, -10/+37I'm suddenly reminded of the infamous "We are a muslim nation...a nation of nonbelievers" edited commercial.
- shhteffen, on 04/28/2009, -11/+37Fox News = reporting FAIL
- mikemx7f, on 04/28/2009, -3/+26Dude, they showed minutes of footage leading up to all of her responses, the only way your could justify the way she responded is if you think they drugged her beforehand, and that would be one weird drug.
- HellTempest, on 04/28/2009, -7/+30Faux News lives up to their name once again.
- bitterbug, on 04/28/2009, -4/+27If they waited 4 months for the MRI either the doctor he was dealing with wasn't pulling his weight or the patient himself didn't check out the available options.
I had to get a CAT scan done, and it only took a week or two. Why? They do them around the clock, and if you're willing to go outside the larger urban centers or go to the hospital in the middle of the night you can get your CAT scans and MRIs done faster.
Our health care system is pretty good. The main issue is that people are so used to having the system do everything for them, they don't know how to make the best use of it themselves. - emjaymj, on 04/28/2009, -1/+24My mother was diagnosed with early-stage cervical cancer a few years ago. We live in the biggest city in the country - Toronto (which is smaller than only New York, LA, and Chicago on the American side.)
Within a week and a half she started treatment at a hospital in the city and beat it early. I don't know how long you'd have waited for it, but a week and a half sure beats re-mortgaging her house.
I've had kidney surgery, sleep studies, and diagnostic procedures done relatively quick. The only time I've ever had to wait a significant amount of time was to get my first appointment with a psychiatrist.
The CBC (a major Canadian television network) did a show and asked Canadians who was the "Greatest Canadian" of all time. It says a lot about just how "poorly" Canadians think of our healthcare system that Tommy Douglas - the Prime Minister whose only significant act was to introduce universal healthcare - won by an overwhelming amount.
As for your nurse friend, I believe Alberta is one of the provinces that has a two-tiered system allowing private healthcare to exist alongside public healthcare. It's really not difficult to see how such a system is only going to hurt the public side of it - doctors can take less patients for more money on the private side, leaving a higher patient:doctor ratio on the public side. I had to go to a hospital in one such province and the waits were awful, and yet in such a heavily populated area as Toronto there hasn't been much issue.
Bottom line is, I know a lot of people who have needed major treatment in Canada, and not a single person I know has had any desire to do what you claim to be certain when you said, "Your ass is coming to the USA or flying to India to get treated before you die waiting in line." - kingofinternet, on 04/28/2009, -8/+30Obama: "Somebody had to take the babysitter home, then I noticed she was sitting on / her / sweet can... / so I grabbed / her / sweet can... / Ohhhh, just thinking about / her / can... / I just wish I had / her / sweet, sweet / s/s/sweet can."
- earthtoandy, on 04/28/2009, -3/+25We SHOULD be surprised by this. As Americans we too easily right stuff off as 'expected' and therefore we also end up labeling it as being ok.
We SHOULD be outraged. This is horrendous and pretty intense deception.
On another note, whats so bad? The European system is the one we should use. If only it had been tested and successfully used for years, then I'd really be sure. - Jsoul87, on 04/28/2009, -11/+33The fact that it still makes the fp when Fox manipulates/lies/makes false claims surprises me. Pretty sure everyone knows is going to know what a joke of a news network that is.
- Josky, on 04/28/2009, -10/+31They're not even trying anymore.
- bitterbug, on 04/28/2009, -3/+24I don't know about that drug specifically, but we also have much more stringent requirements for drugs getting approval here. So it goes both ways... some people are going to die if bad drugs get rushed through the system, and some are going to die waiting for good ones.
What's ironic is that there are people up here that bitch about waiting, but if you suggest they cross the border and actually PAY for their medical care that's unreasonable. Maybe when they see that the operation they're waiting for costs 100,000+ they're not so happy to take part in a privatized system.
And to make a distinction, we don't have socialized medicine. We can choose who our doctors and our treatment are. We have socialized *insurance*. This means that there's no HMO breathing down our necks waiting to ***** us at the first opportunity. Every time I hear about one of our American neighbors getting screwed out of coverage when it matters, it pisses me off.
I'm not a big fan of government interference in the lives of the people, but I don't really have a problem with my tax money being used to ensure that everyone has equal opportunity for healthcare. I'd rather EVERYONE have access to good healthcare, than a few rich people have excellent healthcare, and the rest of the populace have poor or none.
And I'd certainly rather see American tax money going to take care of Americans instead of lining the pockets of "defense" contractors. - kanojo1969, on 04/28/2009, -2/+22I have been shocked, as an Australian, how the GOP has managed to paint Europe as some sort of evil socialist paradise during the last few years. I never noticed it before, but it's just appalling.
Is the average American so myopic and poorly educated that they think Europe today is the same as Russia in the 1950's ? Europeans are our allies, for *****'s sake.
This anti-europe vibe is just too bizarre, I can't think of the words to adequately describe how weird it is. - winterspan, on 04/28/2009, -1/+21The difference is MSNBC keeps the partisanship to their talk shows like Olberman and Maddow, NOT the regular news.
More importanly, Olberman, Maddow, etc don't manipulate video clips of republicons speaking to completely reverse their intentions and totally deceive their viewers. They are far more apt to fight with facts, logic, and reason. - Dipsomaniac, on 04/28/2009, -6/+25Oh thank jeebus, I was hoping that someone would break out a tu quoque fallacy and make it all okay again.
Problem averted, people. You can all go now, because that little fallacy excuses all of Fox's behaviour, including the blatant lying and slander.
/s - orlandogeek, on 04/28/2009, -16/+35Having talked at length about Canada's healthcare system with a friend of mine from Alberta who is a nurse I can be certain this. Have a cold, the flu, or something relatively minor? Canada's healthcare system is pretty good. Have a serious issue like heart disease or major surgery? Your ass is coming to the USA or flying to India to get treated before you die waiting in line.
- Myonosken, on 04/28/2009, -1/+19Hey Norman, ***** you. Stop twisting his argument- he never said companies should have to. He said his DOES and won't need to if government healthcare came in.
STFU - Shadic, on 04/28/2009, -4/+22Any proof?
- thecosmicpope, on 04/28/2009, -1/+19Ok I was with you till over. But xylophones?
- DangerCollie, on 04/28/2009, -6/+24Fox News: Fair, Balanced, Fabricated.
- ohplease, on 04/28/2009, -5/+22I'm Canadian. I got an MRI on my hip to determine if I had a muscle tear That's as minor as it gets, I didn't have limited mobility or anything. Time from seeing the sports medicine doctor to getting in the MRI was 2 weeks, cost to me $0. Your system is broken, stop watching fox news.
- kurttrail, on 04/28/2009, -4/+21No Censorship of Fox!
The Daily Show & Colbert are only on 4 hours a week, so if Fox is controlled & censored, what am I gonna laugh at the rest of the time? - Appox, on 04/28/2009, -0/+17I'm from the UK, and I didn't realize that you guys actually have to pay for health care until I was about 14. Couldn't get my head over such a system.
- roxgod666, on 04/28/2009, -3/+19Why does the GOP suck so much? Get over the loss already, you stubborn bastards.
- CaptOblivious, on 04/28/2009, -2/+17JimmyIkon,
So you think that fox does stuff that's WORSE than purposely editing statements by the sitting President to completely change their meanings?
What exactly would be worse than a NEWS PROGRAM LYING for political reasons? - sarahlee, on 04/28/2009, -3/+18I had to wait 3 months to start cancer treatment here. The Canadians I know (only 12) and the diggers from Canada who have commented in articles here like their system and would not trade for ours.
