- morningmatters, on 03/03/2008, -6/+13FOXNEWS is now comparing itself to Al Qaeda? The scary thing is that they actually do share a lot of similarities. For one, both organizations are run by fundamentalists with an emphasis on effective propaganda delivery.
- inactive, on 03/03/2008, -7/+13Fox isn't important. Why would anyone care what the RNC's propaganda machine calls Senator Obama?
- gypsi, on 03/03/2008, -4/+10coming before november: "Fox News Attacks Fox News for Supporting McCain"
- inactive, on 03/03/2008, -5/+10Well you totally busted me for commenting on a comment board. You rule the tubez dude!
- inactive, on 03/03/2008, -1/+6I said Fox News isn't important, not this subject. The subject of the Democrats ignoring the RNC's publicity department is absolutely hilarious. The FNC response where they compare themselves to Al Queso is ***** PRICELESS! You can't buy comedy that funny.
Your reading comprehension appears to hover around the second grade level. Not too surprising.... - aliengoods, on 03/03/2008, -1/+5You're right. Why wouldn't a candidate want to go a news program that refers to him as Osama and tells people he's Muslim in an effort to slander and discredit him? I can't think of one good reason.
- mrfreeziexp, on 03/03/2008, -5/+8Ahh, I could envision how an Obama interview would go on Fox.. It would go like this: "Thanks for joining us, B. Hussein Osama. A lot of people say that you are part of al-qaeda, on a scale from 1-10, how much do you hate America?" " with "Terrorist?" and on the bottom part of the screen.
- masterm1nd, on 03/03/2008, -0/+2Do you think any network treats any candidate fairly? ***** no, none of them do. And no, sniffing Obamas butt isn't fair either. That's why we have all of the networks to balance each other out. What happens when you remove one end of the balance???
- madeingermany, on 03/03/2008, -1/+3I think this is great. It's a very powerful non-endorsement.
This can only help Obama: Fox viewers won't vote for him anyway and the rest, who sees Fox for what it is, understand this is a very good reason to vote for him :) - masterm1nd, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1I just think anyone running for president of America, McCain included, needs to be put under the most intense scrutiny possible.
- eir574, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1I would like to see that happen through debate formats that force candidates to give something other than overly rehearsed, 90 second answers. When we get past the primaries, the candidates will get together and work out an agreement as to how the debates will work, and hopefully the compromise will average out any bias that occurs in where the debates are held and who moderates them.
I don't think it's for anyone to decide which networks candidates should appear on before we get to that point. - eir574, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1That may be more relevant in the general election. I agree with the idea you seem to have been expressing that the public deserves as unbiased a picture as we can get of candidates from all political parties. However, any given candidate can decide how he/she wants to go about getting his/her message out. As you've said, no network is completely unbiased. Appearing on networks from both ends of the political spectrum probably doesn't average out to give an unbiased picture of a candidate anyway. Now, if you were talking about who should host debates once the primaries are over, that's a different story.
- dsmx, on 03/03/2008, -3/+4Don't forget the scrolling bit saying study proves that obama causes puppies to die and obabma supporters catch cancer.
- JigoroKano, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1Might as well debate Creationists over evolution.
- madeingermany, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1that was more like Obama on Colbert, only not funny.
- inactive, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1That would be so funny if it weren't true.
- inactive, on 03/03/2008, -2/+3Fox News is biased and will likely have a scrolling message throughout the interview stating, "Can Barack Hussein Obama be trusted to lead America?"
- inactive, on 03/04/2008, -0/+1"How about the biggest viewing audience in America?"
Biggest "24 hour cable news channel" audience. You left out the fact that it's only larger than other 24 hour cable news channels. Tyra Banks has more viewers than Fox News. The broadcasters nightly news shows are an order of magnitude larger than piddly little Fox. - masterm1nd, on 03/03/2008, -2/+3Dsm and mr freeze, is that better than portraying him as a god and simply not questioning him??? You people are seriously nuts. This guy wants to run the country, and you don't even want to get to the bottom of him. Scary.
- masterm1nd, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1Apparently, it's not limited to mainstream.
- masterm1nd, on 03/03/2008, -1/+2I was referring to the other networks portraying him as a god and not questioning him, duh.... It IS scary when you idiots don't want to challenge the person who is going to have my family's lives in his hands.
- inactive, on 03/03/2008, -2/+3What reasoning? Principle. He just doesn't want to support a propaganda network. There's nothing "fair and balanced" about Fox. It's just a outlet to push the views of Rupert Murdoch. It's nice when you have so much money you can essentially bend the media to your point of view. It's even nicer when you have so few ethical standards that you'll bend your outlet to support them.
- masterm1nd, on 03/03/2008, -3/+3How about the biggest viewing audience in America? How about getting his message to the other side? How about some ***** scrutiny for the man who may become the most powerful person in the universe?
- RoroCo, on 03/03/2008, -3/+3You don't know much about Fox News do you? What would a democrat have to gain by going on a right wing, extremely bias, full of ass clown, media circus (notice I never used the word "news" in that description)? Have you seen Hillary or Edwards on Fox yet?
- Shiftyeyedgoat, on 03/03/2008, -4/+4Fox News does have a point, albeit their reaction is rather petty.
There really is no reason for Mr. Obama to not sit down with them and discuss his strategy/policies/campaigning in general. FSN wants the ratings that Mr. Obama would generate given his recent explosion in popularity.
What reasoning does Mr. Obama have for not opening himself to various media outlets? - mrfreeziexp, on 03/03/2008, -3/+3Fox isn't wanting to interview him, they want to accuse him of various falsehoods without the ability to properly counter-respond. Then they can parade around about how "Osama" isn't fit to be President, as they've already hinted at in that letter they read on the linked video.
- inactive, on 03/03/2008, -2/+2Except that Fox is overtly biased and, on a scale of 1 to 10, is about a 9.9 on the biased scale.
- GeorgeWKush, on 03/03/2008, -3/+3It makes sense Obama won't talk to Fox news. They spew more propaganda than the entire state of Iran.
- eir574, on 03/03/2008, -1/+1I assume hat dsmx and mrfreeziexp believe that fox is likely to treat Obama unfairly. That hardly implies that they want to portray him as a god and simply not question him, and it doesn't make them nuts. Could we tone down the rhetoric a bit? Because, you know, making accusations like that is "seriously nuts", and it's "scary" that this is the type of political discourse we tend to see on digg (to use your phrases). There are platforms other than fox news that Obama has been using to get his message out. No candidate from any party needs to feel compelled to be interviewed by any particular person.
- masterm1nd, on 03/03/2008, -2/+2Madkenny, you just don't get it. It is not possible for us to get unbiased political information. So the closest thing to getting non biased political info, is to get all sides of the political bias equally, even big bad fox.
- masterm1nd, on 03/03/2008, -2/+2So... the other networks aren't propaganda? They ALL are. Do you know how ***** stupid it is to let one end of the spectrums propaganda in while keeping the opposing end of the spectrum and thus balancing propaganda out?
- eir574, on 03/03/2008, -1/+1It's hard to tell when you're talking about the media and when you're talking about specific people when you use phrases like "you idiots." I'd prefer not to be included in that category. Very little, if any, of my opinion about a candidate is formed by what major news networks say. Thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt in the future when you're deciding whether or not I'm a thoughtful person with carefully considered opinions. (I'd also like to note that I haven't said anything about whether I support Obama here, or probably anywhere on digg.)
- dsmx, on 03/03/2008, -1/+1Belief has nothing to do with it we know that fox would treat Obama unfairly, they couldn't even treat republicans fairly how are they going to react to democrats?
- aliengoods, on 03/03/2008, -2/+1Don't delude yourself. Fox hates Obama much, much more than they hate McCain. They don't like McCain because he doesn't always walk the party line, but they fear Obama because he has the potential to bring about change. Not only from a policy standpoint, but from the perspective of how people think about politics and their place in the world.
- masterm1nd, on 03/03/2008, -2/+1Apparently you do.
- RoroCo, on 03/03/2008, -2/+1This November will be great. They hate Obama and McCain with almost equal fervor. This will be the first time ever that Fox News will be unbiased.
- thewhits, on 03/03/2008, -3/+2Hacks with a platform
- dsmx, on 03/03/2008, -4/+3That would be a good argument, if it was for the fact that fox wouldn't do that, fox doesn't like boring things like policies unless it furthers there fundamentalist agenda.
- kwyoo, on 03/03/2008, -4/+1Who cares about Faux News-
- masterm1nd, on 03/03/2008, -5/+1I think it was CNN who thinks he is Osama. http://algraffix.nstemp.com/obama_osama.jpg . Anyway if that happened to me, I'd go on, confront them, and put them in their place. All your comment seems to do is slander and discredit fox (irony) and protect Obama from the people learning out about him. How can he be perfect when he's obviously hiding something. If he truly believes what he says he would jump at every and any chance to bring it to the opposition. The liberal networks have smeared McCain, did he puss out?
- masterm1nd, on 03/03/2008, -6/+2Right, why should our possible future presidents ideas be challenged, that wouldn't help the country or his ideas?. I'm sure you'd like it if the republican candidate ONLY went on FOX news... I don't think Obama should have to talk to anyone who isn't sniffing his butt?
- digindrivefast, on 03/03/2008, -8/+4All "MSM" news is corrupt.
