Fox News Host Confuses Bin Laden & Obama Twice in 5 Seconds
thinkprogress.org — On today ’s Brian and the Judge radio show, Fox News host Brian Kilmeade twice confused Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) and Osama bin Laden — within five seconds. Even after catching himself, Kilmeade immediately makes the mistake again

- RoroCo, on 07/25/2008, -7/+37There was no confusion on Fox's part. They new what they were trying to do.
- pukiman, on 07/25/2008, -4/+6"knew" (Osama bin Laden), "new" (Barack Obama) - who cares.
It all sounds the same, right? - MakinBacon, on 07/25/2008, -2/+4First off, is psycho-kill.. — excuse me, uh, is Kill and rape — uh, is Brian Kilmeade right when he says that the central location of the war on terror is in Afghanistan?
- Dragular, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1I'm sure Dan Rather was trying to tear apart Barack as well. As we all know, he's always been a hardcore right winger. :eyeroll:
- pukiman, on 07/25/2008, -4/+6"knew" (Osama bin Laden), "new" (Barack Obama) - who cares.
- amfkyeah, on 07/25/2008, -3/+7the sad part is that they do it because apparently it works
- sghod1212, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4If you hate Fox news, then don't watch it. From what I can tell this is their system: liberals are more likely to take in information that goes against what they believe while conservatives are more likely to take in information that approves of what they believe, so by having a conservative bias they can theoretically maximize their total number of viewers. And it works, Fox had the largest audience last year.
It's a small step, but if you want to change Fox News, then stop watching it and submitting its stories and start ignoring it. - theaceoffire, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2I don't watch it, I live in dread of those who do.

- ArchangelZLT, on 07/25/2008, -1/+8I confuse Fox and Faux every time I heard it...
- kevxross, on 07/25/2008, -0/+6ArchangelZLT, first off, is Fixed News — excuse me, uh, is Fox Noise — uh, is Fox News right when they say Barack Obama and Osama Bin Laden are practically the same person?
- 5urr3al5am, on 07/25/2008, -4/+1no you're just a stupid !@ck
- theOster, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2do you also confuse the words toe and tux?
- kevxross, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1So you pronounce it "Fux News," theOster?
- roodammy44, on 07/25/2008, -1/+9They're making it so obvious that even people at a fox news level of intelligence will get it.
"OH, ISN'T BARACK OBAMA'S NAME A BIT LIKE THE TERRORIST BIN LADEN.
I'M MIXING THEM UP ALL THE TIME SO YOU'LL THINK THEY'RE THE SAME PERSON"
Anyone who falls for this deserves to be castrated for the good of the human breeding stock.- theOster, on 07/25/2008, -2/+3i know a certain someone that likes cutting balls off...
- roryk27, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1this would be funny, if it were on the daily show.. but since its not and digg hates fox news, it becomes a bigger issue than it really should be
@ theOster
farmers? doctors? veterinarians?
WHO DAMMIT!? WHO!?
- themastersb, on 07/25/2008, -0/+7How do they keep mixing up Barack Osama Bin Laden err... I mean Barack Hussein Sadam... err I mean Iraq Rupert Murdoch Told Me To Do This Because He's Racist And Wants To See Someone Else Be President For His Own Personal Gains Osama Bin Laden Sadam Hussein.
- Smaulz, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APx2YJ-_jos
Yeah, sucks when they do that.
- Smaulz, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APx2YJ-_jos
- wuxia, on 07/25/2008, -3/+2Just consider the source of this bigoted remark. It came from Brian 'The F***ing Jew' Kilmeade. 'Nuff said.
- RoroCo, on 07/25/2008, -7/+37There was no confusion on Fox's part. They new what they were trying to do.
- zyklon, on 07/25/2008, -9/+53Didn't Fox apologize for this months ago? And they're still doing it? Now... I wonder if that was genuinely unintentional or if he is playing again? Either way, I want to sew his mouth shut.
- subterfuge, on 07/25/2008, -2/+4well, Osama bin Laden would probably also say that the central location to the war on terror is Afghanistan.
- beesaretasty, on 07/25/2008, -2/+1You mean Obama sin Laden right?
- Elranzer, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5"Confused" implies they didn't do it on purpose.
- Awspire, on 07/25/2008, -5/+3"Didn't Fox apologize for this months ago? And they're still doing it?"
Of course they'll keep doing it. Look at all the attention they get from libtards. I think liberals are Fox News largest audience. You fall for their ***** all the time.
Anyhow, why do you idiots even get offended by them? Aren't you (liberals) the ones always clammering on about, "if you don't like, then change the channel". Practice what you preach, instead of falling for Fox news troll mentality.- Elranzer, on 07/25/2008, -2/+2Always depend on a conservatard to use the "us vs them" mentality.
- 5urr3al5am, on 07/25/2008, -2/+3yeah .. Ummm.. I don't know how to tell you this.. your boy.. Sen Ted Kennedy did the exact same thing...
- Vellvoot, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1There's no question in my mind that FOX is unofficially encouraging their newscasters to equate Obama and Osama as much as possible. This guy might have been fired for this mistake at a reputable news agency, at FOX he gets a bonus.
- subterfuge, on 07/25/2008, -2/+4well, Osama bin Laden would probably also say that the central location to the war on terror is Afghanistan.
- nbabasketball, on 07/25/2008, -29/+21I love how both sides of the spectrum latch on to small gaffes from either side. If you're on camera 24/7 as Fox news is (and McCain is and Obama is) you're going to occasionally have a brain fart. Aren't there some real issues to report on?
- zyklon, on 07/25/2008, -6/+8These are real issues. If a presidential candidate can't get straight reality, then there's a problem.
- Plasmatica, on 07/25/2008, -8/+19The fact that you're trying to come up with an excuse for this shameless and blatant smear just proves how stupid and/or biased you actually are.
- crweaks23, on 07/25/2008, -4/+6This actually happens to a lot of people, some not on fox, and some on supposedly left wing programs. The Daily Show just aired a small compilation of a bunch of people doing this exact same thing, and they weren't all Fox pundits.
Could this be on purpose? Sure. Is it worth getting your panties in a bunch about? No. The original post is 100% right... and Plasmatica needs to relax.- jaxcs, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2Would be a whole lot more convincing if it didn't come from the station of the terrorist fist jab, baby momma, citing reps as dems when sex scandals erupt and other such party line gaffes.
- crweaks23, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1jaxcs - agreed
- mikesoba, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1The talking heads of the right have been doing this purposely for some time. Clearly, it's a hard habit to break. The "real issue" is the lowered level of discussion that the right wing has brought to this campaign.
- ScienceDoc, on 07/25/2008, -13/+35FOX sux!
- diggit83, on 07/25/2008, -4/+5**"***** Fox SUCKS"
I cant watch it, theres no news on it - subterfuge, on 07/25/2008, -3/+6i just came back from denmark. a dane told me that many danes like to watch fox news. i was confused because fox is conservative and denmark is liberal. but then he explained that they consider it a comedy show.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 07/25/2008, -2/+2Even I think Sux is too weak a term.
Fox is *****. - bawitback, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1Sly Fox indeed
- 5urr3al5am, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3yeah.. it just HAPPENS to get 10 times the rates.. hmm digg users not living in the real world? and even Rush Limbaugh is getting a trillion dollars a year now, why is that? Oh yeah, because he brings in the biggest crowd in the US. Just admit it, the Digg/Main Stream News crowd is mostly full of extreme left liberals trying to push off their agenda as normal every day mainstream.
- fmccloud, on 07/25/2008, -0/+0Why does this clown even get Diggs?
- diggit83, on 07/25/2008, -4/+5**"***** Fox SUCKS"
- cg4et, on 07/25/2008, -15/+95If that was an accident, I am the Queen of f***ing England.
- howdareyou, on 07/25/2008, -4/+15Why are you censoring yourself? You realize that when people read that they read it as "*****" right?
And besides people can turn the profanity filter on if they want.- Atomic05, on 07/25/2008, -9/+3I think that's exactly the point, actually. People with the filter turned off still read it as "*****" instead of "****" and nobody really cares either way. Except you.
- samukalra, on 07/25/2008, -18/+1Uhh, I have my filter off and I still see it with the stars.
- DuffyDirect, on 07/25/2008, -5/+1if it was just *** you wouldn't know what word it is... if you go f*** you know its the f-word.
- samukalra, on 07/25/2008, -2/+14Oh wow, I'm an idiot. Digg that down.
- mllawso, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2f****** thing s****
- CrazedLeper, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1Dead-on. It is exactly for this reason that Obama was "selected". Out of this deception, the "terror" lie will gradually morph from an international, Islamic threat into a domestic, African-American threat.
Neither story, of course, has the smallest amount of truth to it but Americans are so demonstrably stupid that the MilitAry indusTRIal compleX knows they can get away with anything at this point. - mastaxxn, on 07/25/2008, -3/+2Greetings, your highness.
- busybenj, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1That must be a tough job.....ouch
- an0nym0us, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1We are British, your Highness. we carry on.
- howdareyou, on 07/25/2008, -4/+15Why are you censoring yourself? You realize that when people read that they read it as "*****" right?
- DestroyFascism, on 07/25/2008, -8/+3When Management policy and threats become all to present like a lead weight over you shoulder. When staff meetings and guidelines start to scream loudly on the tired and inattentive and when lies and propaganda connected to those lies starts cracking through the strain of constant repetition, then you have a Fox news rep dribbling truth without even knowing it.
- qdkk, on 07/25/2008, -9/+40When you listen to the audio clip for voice intonations, It's clearly obvious that the mention of Bin Laden was scripted. This is just another propagandist tactic from Fox. The fact that tactics like this destroys Fox's own credibility assures us that factual news reporting is not their goal. Pathetic.
- mastaxxn, on 07/25/2008, -3/+1Whoa! Your a voice expert? People can't even lie to you, huh? Where did you study?
- qdkk, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1No one has to be an expert to detect bad acting.
- mastaxxn, on 07/26/2008, -0/+0I have a feeling you don't really listen to Brian & The Judge. I listen to them daily on my commute to work. This sounds like Kilmead's normal speaking pattern.
- mastaxxn, on 07/25/2008, -3/+1Whoa! Your a voice expert? People can't even lie to you, huh? Where did you study?
- FutureStyle, on 07/25/2008, -16/+9Gotta love Faux, er Fox News . . .
- jparkinson, on 07/25/2008, -1/+2You know its pronounced 'Foh' right...
- Mightbiteyou, on 07/25/2008, -9/+24"Hi everyone, thanks for all the revenue when you came by to check out the last outrageous thing we just said"
-Fox News- aterimperator, on 07/26/2008, -0/+0Well since the clip is on youtube, it's unlikely they got any money from that. So unless "Thing Progress" is owned by Fox, I doubt they made any money from digg users laughing at them.
- shazbotben, on 07/25/2008, -22/+10Enough with this. They are two names that are a letter apart, and they're both mentioned very often in the media. Fox News is a joke, but seriously, THIS is what you're calling them out on?
- supman, on 07/25/2008, -2/+13listen to the audio: he said bin laden first of all, how many letters apart from Barack Obama is that?
- snapcase, on 07/25/2008, -2/+11"Bin Laden" and "Barak Obama" are just one letter apart huh?
He didn't just slip up and say "Osama" rather than "Obama" that'd be close to understandable. He started off by saying Bin Laden. It's fairly obvious that it wasn't just a simple slip-up.- shazbotben, on 07/25/2008, -11/+3Yep. You're right. It's a conspiracy. Fox News is biased against Obama. Had it not been for digg, I would've never realized it.
- snapcase, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4Yeah because Fox has never shown any bias on any subject in the past right?
- shazbotben, on 07/26/2008, -1/+1That was my point.
- 5urr3al5am, on 07/25/2008, -1/+2What can we learn form this? -- Liberals are easily offended
- 0xbaadf00d, on 07/25/2008, -20/+11wow, thinkprogress drones are out in force today.
- V3NOM, on 07/25/2008, -1/+2So are you saying that confusing Barack Obama with Osama Bin Laden twice in a row is a "fair and balanced" approach?
- BCNewfie2, on 07/25/2008, -1/+2how do you confuse "BIN LADEN" with what he's trying to say "BARACK OBAMA" ? Kinda like confusing "GEORGE BUSH" and "JOHN MCCAIN"
- Smokeydabear, on 07/25/2008, -2/+20There was a huge montage of these, from a dozen different news anchors, on the Daily Show the other day.

- jhnsnp, on 07/25/2008, -8/+12Fox News can no longer claim this is an accident. Sure other networks have said it, but no one has done it with the consistency that Fox has.
- jparkinson, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1How could anyone make this mistake in the first place? Is it REALLY that hard to differentiate between a B and an S sound?
These people genuinely can't be that retarded...- Dragular, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1digg this down
- jparkinson, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1How could anyone make this mistake in the first place? Is it REALLY that hard to differentiate between a B and an S sound?
- stevenharrell, on 07/25/2008, -19/+7big difference between osama and obama. osama wants us out of his land. obama wants a one world government.
- HonestAbe, on 07/25/2008, -4/+1You say "one world government" like it's a bad thing.
- Hermmunster, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1Totally false. He's making this up. Sounds just as competent as the Fox anchors.
- sassip, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2Sure you're not talking about the Neo-Old-Cons?
- stevenharrell, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1Neo-cons, Obama, I don't see much difference when you scratch below the surface just a little bit and abandon the sheep mentality. Let history speak for itself. Whenever power gravitates to one person or organization, bad things happen. Obama's superior speeches and image inspire people to herd towards him. Obama wants more war. He's in bed with the same special interest groups as all of the other politicians. He's just saying the same things but candy coated.
- AlwaysDuggDown, on 07/25/2008, -9/+20Let's just put an end to the confusion and start calling him by his middle name.
- davewelsh79, on 07/25/2008, -2/+8I don't know who's digging you down. I assume it's people who don't know Obama's middle name.
- SoulDrift404, on 07/26/2008, -1/+1I don't know who's digging you up. I assume it's people who think Barack Obama's middle name is relevant to his qualifications for the Presidency.
- davewelsh79, on 07/28/2008, -0/+1@SoulDrift404
What? The guy made a funny joke and was getting dug down. I pointed out that the people digging him down probably didn't get the joke because they we unaware of Obama's middle name.
My post in no way endorses one candidate or another. In fact, if I were an American, I'd vote for Obama.
- brightdrrkness, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3hilarious!
- davewelsh79, on 07/25/2008, -2/+8I don't know who's digging you down. I assume it's people who don't know Obama's middle name.
- mrogi, on 07/25/2008, -7/+8Dont be so naive. Kilmeade intentionally wants to blur the line of distinction between Osama and Obama. It is the so-called faux pas that confused Barney Frank with "Barney Fag."
- xsecretfiles, on 07/25/2008, -7/+6somebody spends a lot of time watching FOX news to catch this stuff...it must really hate his/her life
- omgTHEPATRIOTS, on 07/25/2008, -3/+7thinkprogress and media matters get paid to watch FOX.... which is why O'Reilly hates them, because they expose him for a doubletalking fraud
- xGORDOx, on 07/25/2008, -22/+16Ted Kennedy and other Dems that support Obama have done it a bunch of times, even at Obama events, so who f-ing cares.
If you talk as much as these people, you make some mistakes.
Oooh but it was FOX.... spread on the hate!
Losers.- NotRylock, on 07/25/2008, -2/+4Ted Kennedy called Barak "Bin Laden"?
Man, I gotta get out more - Garlik, on 07/25/2008, -1/+2The difference here is not that he confused Obama with Osama, but that he first said, "Bin Laden," then "Osama" and then finally "Obama."
- azhura, on 07/25/2008, -5/+3You're the loser for not knowing the difference between INTENTIONAL and ACCIDENTAL. Loser.
- Mpwns, on 07/25/2008, -2/+1yea nothing wrong with fox news they try really hard to give us false hopes that things are getting better,
- NotRylock, on 07/25/2008, -2/+4Ted Kennedy called Barak "Bin Laden"?
- KyloOb, on 07/25/2008, -10/+3Who cares? Most of the fox news presenters are huge idiots, get used to it.
- treehugger87, on 07/25/2008, -2/+2We care because not everyone realizes that the Fox news presenters are idiots and take what they say as truth.
- Monk22, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2the people your talking about have no ***** idea what digg is much less the internet you morons. 30% of americans have never sent an email
- treehugger87, on 07/25/2008, -2/+2We care because not everyone realizes that the Fox news presenters are idiots and take what they say as truth.
- rewinn, on 07/25/2008, -7/+6It's just a credulity test: how often can they "make a mistake" and their viewers will believe them?
- treehugger87, on 07/25/2008, -1/+4Their viewers don't see them as mistakes. We see it here on Digg when the fox defenders come online that they see Fox as a pure and "balanced" source of news.
- HonestAbe, on 07/25/2008, -1/+4All day, every day.
- gwycliff, on 07/25/2008, -10/+3what a *****
- fredmv, on 07/25/2008, -6/+23That sounded ***** _scripted_. You know, each time I think "OK, Fox can't get any lower." And then something else happens.
- FearFactory, on 07/25/2008, -7/+33By the tone of his voice I think he said it on purpose. What a dumb prick.
- synapse88, on 07/25/2008, -11/+13WTF? how can this republican propagandistic Channel still exist and have a vast amount of viewers?
Such things are only in the most ignorant country in the world, you bet: USA!- omgTHEPATRIOTS, on 07/25/2008, -3/+2Many times Fox news is on it's in public places, often with no volume turned on. I wonder how many people actually sit and watch the network?
- iwatts, on 07/26/2008, -0/+1Important demographic trend number one. People, on average, aren't getting any smarter.
- altgeeky1, on 07/25/2008, -6/+6Maybe he's just ass kissing management because his yearly review is due.
Extra racism in a Murdoch company has to be worth something of a bonus! - PolishLogic, on 07/25/2008, -13/+3That bit never gets old. Hilarious, but buried.
- wynja, on 07/25/2008, -7/+7Confuses implies that the anchor didn't know what he was doing. Fox News has a history of trying to link Obama and Osama, and I feel that this was an intended "mistake."
- Dragular, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1Did you mean to use the word "Confuses?" If not, it's OK, people are allowed to make occasional slips. You know, unless they don't share your views, right?
- ChayesFSS, on 07/25/2008, -6/+11So didn't Teddy Kennedy of Ma (worst state in New England)
KENNEDY: There you go.
Why don't we just ask Osama bin -- Osama Obama -- Obama what -- since he won by such a big amount. Seriously, Senator Obama is really unique and special. - ToddSchishler, on 07/25/2008, -6/+13Even by the farthest stretch of the imagination it's hard to believe the Obama/Osama slip as innocent and accidental.
But to throw out Bin Laden instead of Obama? Well I guess they sound practically the same. If you're on acid. - beckysue, on 07/25/2008, -5/+8Why aren't you talking about Dan Rather doing the same thing-wasn't it on MSNBC? It wasn't even corrected.

- fuzzlog, on 07/25/2008, -7/+3How can you call yourself a journalist and make such a mistake on TV. This prick should be fired and take learn from it. If I'd be in charge I would serve Fox and CNN ultimatums: Read the ***** news, and keep your ***** opinions to yourselves. But again, I am not, and I don't really give a *****!!!!
- ncc74656m, on 07/25/2008, -7/+5Ugh. Throw the bum out.
- Praelior, on 07/25/2008, -6/+10I find it ironic that people on digg who blast Fox news for not being "fair and balanced" are usually the same people who continually digg up any huffingtonpost or thinkprogress article.
Kind of hypocritical IMO. Even though Fox is a major news outlet, if you truly want to be the champion of fair news you should do it equally for both sides of the spectrum and not just the side you agree with. - merlin5, on 07/25/2008, -8/+2Is'nt Obama Osama the same guy?
Fox news watcher. - datastorageguy, on 07/25/2008, -22/+16People complain about Fox News being biased yet:
A UCLA study on the matter: http://newsroom.ucla.edu/portal/ucla/Media-Bias-Is ...
Some other interesting facts.
* 81 percent of the journalists interviewed voted for the Democratic presidential candidate in every election between 1964 and 1976.
* In the Democratic landslide of 1964, 94 percent of the press surveyed voted for President Lyndon Johnson (D) over Senator Barry Goldwater (R).
* In 1968, 86 percent of the press surveyed voted for Democrat Senator Hubert Humphrey.
* In 1972, when 62 percent of the electorate chose President Richard Nixon, 81 percent of the media elite voted for liberal Democratic Senator George McGovern.
* In 1976, the Democratic nominee, Jimmy Carter, captured the allegiance of 81 percent of the reporters surveyed while a mere 19 percent cast their ballots for President Gerald Ford.
* Over the 16-year period, the Republican candidate always received less than 20 percent of the media elite’s vote.
* Lichter and Rothman’s survey of journalists discovered that “Fifty-four percent placed themselves to the left of center, compared to only 19 percent who chose the right side of the spectrum.”
* “Fifty-six percent said the people they worked with were mostly on the left, and only 8 percent on the right — a margin of seven-to-one.”
White House Reporters
In 1995, Kenneth Walsh, a reporter for U.S. News & World Report, polled 28 of his fellow White House correspondents from the four TV networks, the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, USA Today, Washington Post, Copley, Cox, Hearst, Knight-Ridder, plus Newsweek, Time and U.S. News & World Report, about their presidential voting patterns for his 1996 book Feeding the Beast: The White House versus the Press. Walsh found that his colleagues strongly preferred Democrats, with the White House press corps admitting a total of 50 votes for Democratic candidates compared to just seven for Republicans.
* In 1992, nine of the White House correspondents surveyed voted for Democrat Bill Clinton, two for Republican George H. W. Bush, and one for independent Ross Perot.
* In 1988, 12 voted for Democrat Michael Dukakis, one for Bush.
* In 1984, 10 voted for Democrat Walter Mondale, zero for Ronald Reagan.
* In 1980, eight voted for Democrat Jimmy Carter, four for liberal independent John Anderson, and two voted for Ronald Reagan.
* In 1976, 11 voted for Carter, two for Republican Gerald Ford.
* Walsh wrote of the White House press corps members he surveyed: “Even though the survey was anonymous, many journalists declined to reveal their party affiliations, whom they voted for in recent presidential elections, and other data they regarded as too personal — even though they regularly pressure Presidents and other officials to make such disclosures.”
* “Those who did reply seemed to be representative of the larger group. Seven said they were Democrats, eleven were unaffiliated with either major party, and not a single respondent said he or she was a registered Republican (although some might have been but were not willing to say so).”
* Nearly half of the journalists surveyed agreed that “the very structure of our society causes people to feel alienated,” while the authors found “five out of six believe our legal system mainly favors the wealthy.”
* 30 percent disagreed that “private enterprise is fair to workers;” 28 percent agreed that “all political systems are repressive.”
* 54 percent did not regard adultery as wrong, compared to only 15 percent who regarded it as wrong.
* “Ninety percent agree that a woman has the right to decide for herself whether to have an abortion; 79 percent agree strongly with this pro-choice position.”
* Majorities of journalists agreed with the statements: “U.S. exploits Third World, causes poverty” (56%) and “U.S. use of resources immoral” (57%). Three-fourths disagreed that the “West had helped Third World.”
So in summary, SHUT THE HELL UP ABOUT FOX NEWS RIGHT WING BIAS.- Praelior, on 07/25/2008, -5/+8I'm glad someone posted some actual facts instead of people continually posting in generalities. (I think I am guilty of that as well)

A couple of though trashings of the study you're citing.- jdigg06, on 07/25/2008, -3/+4Apparently someone didn't go to college. "A though trashing" ??
- chicofaraby, on 07/25/2008, -6/+4Holy Cats! I'm SO embarrassed. The fact that I made a typing error completely undermines the the two links I submitted that debunk the survey the OP submitted.
Oh wait, no it doesn't.... - datastorageguy, on 07/25/2008, -1/+5I read the websites that you posted in rebuttal and all they seem to do is argue about the facts presented rather than submit their own polling and study results. I wonder why that is?
Here is a Zogby poll
http://www.zogby.com/News/ReadNews.dbm?ID=1262
64% of the people polled believed that mainstream news is biased to the left, while only 28% believed the mainstream media leaned right.
But then again, I am sure you have some left wing website with no credibility that claims the Zogby poll didn't carry a 1 in their equation somewhere so the whole thing is wrong.
The media has a left wing bias. Period. - chicofaraby, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1"all they seem to do is argue about the facts presented"
uhhhh... yeah. That's true. The sites I provided argue that the study is constructed poorly and it's author's conclusions are based on leaps of "logic" that the survey results don't support.
I'm not interested in proving bias in the media. It's evident for anyone with a brain to see that they support the American right and it's corporate owners. It's just laughable to claim that American corporate media is somehow promoting leftist policies. That claim is completely ridiculous.
- MMMcripsyBACON, on 07/25/2008, -2/+7Well said. (even though liberals are too lazy to read it)
- briankoenig03, on 07/25/2008, -8/+4Who someone voted for doesn't matter *as long as the news they report isn't biased*. You could vote for the nominee of the I Hate Everyone party, and as long as when you sit in your newscaster's seat you give me unbiased news I'll listen.
Also, I don't think anyone is complaining about the Fox News bias in the 1964, 1968, 1972, 1976, etc elections. Fox News Channel wasn't created until 1996, which is after every one of your data points in your post. - jstancom, on 07/25/2008, -4/+2Times have changed.
Fox News, which is a 24 hour news channel of course didn't exist in the 1960s. Also, the Civil Rights movement changed the political makeup of America to as we see it today.
The South, once Democrat (Dems used to be the conservative party), now votes for Republican, which is now the conservative party. The Civil Rights movement and the progresses made by JFK and LBJ turned the Democrats into a more progressive political party. - jdigg06, on 07/25/2008, -4/+5So true! Thanks for posting!
- digital0verdose, on 07/25/2008, -8/+3You need to reread very carefully what you quoted and what it implies because the way you are presenting the data is not accurate.
This brings up a question. Do you work for Fox News? - davewelsh79, on 07/25/2008, -8/+3The fact that they're journalists and voted Democrat doesn't mean that journalists->Democrat. It's probably some other thing--or a variety of things--that cause people to both vote Democrat and also get a career in journalism. Getting your head out of your ass and taking an interest in the rest of the world might be a reason, or maybe intelligence.
- datastorageguy, on 07/25/2008, -1/+5It's amusing how the left gets so angry and hostile when presented with facts that are contrary to their dogma. Poll after poll after poll indicate that Americans believe there is a left wing bias in the media. Studies and polls have also shown that a large majority of members of the news media have political beliefs that are left wing, or left of center. Stories done that put Republican politicians or conservative ideas in a negative light are far more prevalent than Democrat politicians and the liberal agenda.
Yet Fox news is the only cable show or news source on television that is right, or right of center, and it drives liberals crazy. ONE NETWORK on television and liberals can't handle it. If their ideas weren't dangerous, it would be hysterically amusing. - datastorageguy, on 07/25/2008, -1/+4Oh and here is yet another indication of the mainstream media's left wing bias.

Donations from media outlets to political campaigns favor Democrats 100 to 1.
So I say again: SHUT THE HELL UP ABOUT FOX NEWS RIGHT WING BIAS.
- MaxIsBored, on 07/25/2008, -7/+1seriously, fox is stupid.. but this is funny.
- CoMpUtErITGuY, on 07/25/2008, -6/+2I honestly can't tell sometimes.
- TheSwashbuckler, on 07/25/2008, -5/+10Confused? It's easy to believe as stupid as Faux News "personalities" are, but for some reason I believe it was done purposely.
- gwolb, on 07/25/2008, -10/+7Happens all the time, so easy to get them mixed up. People need to chill out a bit.
- MMMcripsyBACON, on 07/25/2008, -5/+2Wait.... they aren't the same person???
- Bhu8888, on 07/25/2008, -0/+0LOL Awesome,
- cadmiumpaint, on 07/25/2008, -8/+6Faux News....fair and bigoted.
- hydrogenbomb, on 07/25/2008, -9/+3I guess it takes an Austriallian tabloid billionaire to give the hate mongering american hating red state inbed trash what they crave, a steaming cauldren of liquid bubbling crap for the anti-gay homosexuals of the GOP, for the anti-abortion evangelical snakehandlers, for the army of cousin marrying a-holes that wave their chinese made 'merican flags and call themselves patriots, walmart nascar racist scum.
Hey all you trailertrash republican voting scum, ***** each and every one of you.- FiringPin, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3You're an idiot.
- Jonsblckhwk, on 07/25/2008, -1/+2As trailertrash, i am offended by that statement, my people are not that low.
- Archimboldo, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1Wow.
- Monk22, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1oh *****! not more insults on the internet!! your no better than the people you complaining about based on that hate filled rant.
- HonestAbe, on 07/25/2008, -4/+14It was scripted, just like the last time.
- StupotAce, on 07/25/2008, -2/+5Confusing the names Osama and Obama, while offensive, is much more reasonable than accidently calling him "Bin Laden". There is no slight of the brain that could cause that unless you actually view Obama as the same person as Bin Laden.
- soot, on 07/25/2008, -4/+16What the *****? How do you get "bin Laden" out of "Obama"?
