- Lightstab, on 05/13/2009, -61/+594***** yeah! Now that's how you handle Fox News ambushing! I liked her comment about the Republicans not being conservative since 1980. That's so true. Reagan increased the deficit from 700 billion to 3 Trillion, spending more than all former administrations COMBINED.
She also repeated a question I've been asking a lot of Republicans. Why were you not having Tea Parties when Bush was president? Because you hate the black guy, that's why. - poogy21, on 05/13/2009, -94/+580I love Janeane Garafalo! That's one chick with some bigg balls!
- homercles337, on 05/13/2009, -78/+42822% > 20% > 16% > ??? Shall i continue? The GOP is dying faster than i can type percentage signs. I have to admit that im happy to see the American Taliban/Fascists go. They can take their fascism (being the authoritarian nationalism melded with corporate ideology), cloaked in the American flag, cloaked in xianism, and shove...aww, never mind.
- MrColdheart, on 05/13/2009, -30/+330At 1:34 Garafalo was edited.
Fox news now has video I'd really want to see. - endus, on 05/14/2009, -15/+299This is genius.
I am a libertarian and thus generally opposed to her generally liberal bias on a lot of things, but she knocked this one out of the park. "Republicans" have no basis for calling themselves "conservatives" any more and haven't for quite a while. She is 100% on point about Bush's spending. Remember faith based initiatives? Well, forget the fact that giving money to organizations which proselytize in the course of doing their work IS tantamount to establishing a state religion when the only organizations you give money to are Christian...where is the condemnation of the general idea of funding such programs in the first place? Funding religious organizations for any reason is not conservative policy. While we're at it, when did corporate welfare become any more acceptable than welfare given to individuals? If you ask me corporate welfare is MUCH more damaging because it fundamentally undermines capitalism in this country as well as our ability to compete in the global marketplace.
I won't go so far as to say that the entire tea party thing was rooted in racism to the point where I condemn everyone involved as a racist, but I would definitely support the idea that the parties were fueled more by hatred of liberals than actual belief in conservative principals. The people calling themselves conservatives now are nothing more than crooks looking to protect their own interests. They don't support the constitution, they don't support fiscal responsibility, and they are progressive in every way that benefits the neoconservaitve Christian agenda and in none of the ways which support actual science and truth.
Good for her for sticking to her guns and not apologizing. I love that she's like "just because you think I should apologize doesn't mean I should apologize". The guy doing the interview can go ***** himself. - inactive, on 05/14/2009, -15/+251She's right about the statement she made: they are not conservatives. Time for the GOP to stop using that word. We saw how they ***** all over real conservatives like Ron Paul.
- misstingting, on 05/14/2009, -15/+221That was beautiful. None of them could answer her question "If this was about fiscal imprudence, where were they for the last 8 years?" It's great to see them get beat at their own ambush.
- Sil369, on 05/14/2009, -27/+216thank you for asking what i've been thinking
where were these tea parties when bush was sending 10 billion$ to iraq each MONTH? - LugaZap, on 05/14/2009, -24/+196Fox news is a Giant Troll, Dont feed it and maybe it will go away.
- stevenr21, on 05/14/2009, -29/+179i wish someone would ambush hannity or bill o.
maybe even ambush rush outside his local pharmacy.. - JoeMondo, on 05/14/2009, -16/+158A shame she never mentioned O'Reilly's sexual harassment victim.
"Bill O'Reilly? The Sexual Harrasser?"
That's what anyone who doesn't want their ambush aired should say, repeatedly. - AndrewRidgely, on 05/14/2009, -15/+142Of course it's hyperbolic to call everyone there racist, but damn she came out of that looking a lot better than the guy who ambushed her. I hope he felt like a fool after that.
- RatatRatR, on 05/14/2009, -5/+111I like how they start the segment by saying that one of their guys happened to see her and turned on the camera he happened to have with him.
- novenator, on 05/13/2009, -18/+121good riddance to them. After what they did to the country over the last 30 years of rule, the death of their organization can't come soon enough.
- keloyd, on 05/14/2009, -4/+107William F. Buckley would not recognize modern conservatism. Even Janeane Garafalo spoke respectfully of Goldwater in this 'interview.' Buckley's Firing Line TV show would never make it to Fox News or any of uncle Rupert's outlets.
1988 - West Virginia voted Dukakis because its demographics were poor and white.
2008 - West Virginia voted McCain because its demographics were poor and white.
I'm a 3rd generation Republican. My grandfather voted against FDR all 4 times, and I'm ashamed of my party and its network. - ironhide, on 05/14/2009, -11/+102Pat Boone, Chuck Norris....
Oh wait, you're talking about people who are intentionally funny. - macinit1138, on 05/14/2009, -12/+95Fox news is irrelevant. It's been outed long ago as a neocon propaganda outlet for the simple minded.
- jmwb, on 05/14/2009, -20/+95Clone that woman. She's smart, beautiful, and funny. In 100 years I want a world of 25% Garafalo women (25% Scarlett Johansson).
- sizzzzlerz, on 05/14/2009, -5/+78Oh give me a break. It took you 8 ***** years to figure that out? Jesus, those teabaggers are even more stupid that they appeared. The average IQ of that group was smaller than the number of teeth remaining in their mouths.
- Demos27, on 05/14/2009, -6/+77The fact that "they are just waking up to how much a so called conservative president was spending" is pathetic in its own right. Did they just wake up to global warming as well...cause we got all day...
If you care about politics and you care about your president, you'll keep tabs on what they are doing. Obviously they loved Bush so much they couldn't bother checking up on what he was doing...Is there any other reasonable explanation, no? - cyrix, on 05/14/2009, -9/+80I always just found her to be so-so, but after seeing this my respect for her skyrocketed. She raped fox news and their ambush tactics. If only the other people they ambush could pull off such a calm and focused rebuttal....
- HEAVYisSPY, on 05/14/2009, -10/+79Bill Maher is pretty funny.
- ProfessorSYM, on 05/13/2009, -62/+131Janeane is awesome.
- mgraham80, on 05/14/2009, -6/+73You don't get it! They were mad about that spending, but they...uh...were just waking up, OK!?
It takes time to figure out that deficit spending is bad, don'tcha know!
Like exactly 8 years, unless of course another Republican president is elected, then it will take at least 12 years to figure it out. - diskoh, on 05/14/2009, -6/+72I will admit I'm not a HUGE fan of Janeane. She lacks a certain tact that just makes me tune out. She jumps to extremes a lot. (also called people protesting Scientology murders bigots)
But damn she just owned the hell out of those guys. I like her a bit more now. - sugarazor, on 05/14/2009, -10/+73You mean the congress whose approval ratings have doubled since Obama took office?
- CheckPlease, on 05/14/2009, -7/+68Yeah. She's on point.
- mgraham80, on 05/14/2009, -12/+69And yet still more highly rated than Republicans. LOL!!!!
- davewashere, on 05/14/2009, -5/+60I'll give Fox News credit for actually airing this. Usually they are not "fair and balanced", but I think it was fair of them to air this ambush they orchestrated that ended up backfiring. Of course, I don't think they realized it backfired. I wouldn't call myself a Garafalo fan, but she handled herself well here, addressed the questions and accusations of the teabaggers, and left the Fox News employee sent to ask her those questions with nothing left to say to respond to her counterpoints.
- dynamojoe, on 05/14/2009, -2/+57good catch.
- seltaeb4, on 05/14/2009, -6/+61Or perhaps outside the children's bordello he frequents in the Dominican Republic, along with the multiple bottles of Viagra under someone else's name that he smuggled in...
- ArthurSucks, on 05/14/2009, -37/+89I love that woman.
- asgardshill, on 05/14/2009, -0/+50He not only ran away, he pushed his way past a girlfriend through hotel doors to get away from the barrage, leaving her out there to take the punishment meant for him.
Sean Hannity - soldier, statesman, chickenhawk. - onionoino, on 05/14/2009, -5/+53says the guy with the handle whiteknight
- inactive, on 05/14/2009, -4/+51Why is it that conspiracy is always the first defense of the right?
- inactive, on 05/14/2009, -4/+51"your" calling him an idiot? Wow!
- inactive, on 05/14/2009, -3/+46"The reason people weren't protesting the last 8 years is because they were just waking up to how much a so called conservative president was spending."
This is *****. A very good friend of mine who is very very Republican was complaining about Bush's deficits pretty much all through the entirety of his two terms. He also hasn't taken up arms with the teabaggers. Probably because he isn't racist. - nostraboris, on 05/14/2009, -6/+48well done Janeane. they ambushed the wrong woman.
"Barry GOLDWATER is a conservative". hahaha - inactive, on 05/14/2009, -9/+50and you ***** wonder why no one takes you seriously.
- mgraham80, on 05/14/2009, -0/+41Well, remember, Hannity *was* ambushed by Ron Paul supporters. It was so awesome: he just up and ran away! lol, what an asshat.
- inactive, on 05/14/2009, -3/+44*blank look*
"These go to eleven." - Lightstab, on 05/14/2009, -0/+40@superkendall
I didn't say anything about liking or disliking deficit spending, I just pointed out that one of the cornerstones of the conservative movement, smaller government, was not practiced by the biggest idol of conservatives, Ronald Reagan. He was a big spender, which makes him more like a liberal.
Actually, Democrats have acted more like conservatives are supposed to act. They actually practice smaller government. They don't think the government should interfere in people's sex lives, or tell women what to do with their bodies, or tell people how to get married.
And Clinton was the only president that I've seen in the last twenty to thirty years that actually balanced the budget. Republican presidents just talk about conservatism to get elected, but they don't practice it. - fivefootfour, on 05/14/2009, -2/+42Should we knock on your bunker door to tell you?
- inactive, on 05/14/2009, -21/+61I have a newsflash for you, 24 sucks.
- Batfishy, on 05/14/2009, -3/+43Why do the Republicans think fake cowboys make good presidents?
- Darkhacker, on 05/14/2009, -9/+48They probably just edited it out umms or ahhs or edited out the asking of another question because it wasn't needed to understand her response. Happens all the time. However I wouldn't be surprised if Fox did do malicious editing, but just the fact that it was edited in general doesn't mean it was malicious.
- Demos27, on 05/14/2009, -1/+39Wow, did Iraq have weapons of mass destruction too? The Iraq war was a complete joke and a waste of money.
- dsmith5237, on 05/14/2009, -34/+70I think I'm love. Wow.
- inactive, on 05/14/2009, -2/+38I can't believe that the clip was AFTER fox edited it. Man, can you imagine what it looked like before? lol Even in the edited version, they got their ass handed to them.
- imnojezus, on 05/14/2009, -2/+38The "ultra left" didn't pick Garafalo to represent anything. Fox News did.
