Even now the number of people killed by terrorism in the USA is 1/1000 the number of people killed by accidents on the highway.
Beyond that, 10 to 100 times as many people die at the hands of skilled surgeons than by gun shot wounds.

It is simply an idea, a philosophy - a sick and twisted philosophy, but just a philosophy. Think of it much as we think of "the neocons" or "the liberals" - it's just a general term for people who share a particular world view.

Given the tubby nature of the general public in the US, that's not all together a bad thing. The first burning tanker on the news and we'll see gas prices in the 6 dollar range overnight. And that's just the warm up act. The alternative is we put US warships on escort duty, essentially forever.

Instead of creating peace, we created more terrorists.
Instead of helping civilians, we have wiped out power and water and killed countless.
Instead of creating a democratic state, we forced them into elections for leaders we appointed.
Instead of creating a plan and establishing a real reason to go there, we threw something together and started blasting.
Instead of building our international relations, we have isolated ourselves as the most hated country in the region.
Instead of going after those who really attacked us, we stationed troops in afghan and "keep the peace".
We should be going after Saudis but we can't cause they own us.
