- BFIrrera, on 07/01/2009, -3/+6As they say in the article...we're gay, not stupid. No gay man is going to "grope" a police officer in the MIDDLE of a raid. These police officers used/abused their authority to have themselves a good ol' boy style fag bashing. I'm sure if this were an all BLACK bar, we'd hear about a few of the patrons being lynched. It's the "American way" in the South, isn't it?
- SoundboyJeff, on 07/01/2009, -1/+3You must not be gay... or you'd get the logic of the translation.
no, they didn't run into a gay bar yelling '*****'... but by all accounts of the patrons IN the bar, there were no obviously intoxicated people and the police were grabbing people at random.
one more question, how many bars have you been to (gay or straight) where there are people vomiting profusely all over the place as the police claim more than one patron were?
the "logic", having been harrassed in the past myself, is that the police went in there for a specific reason... and given that they brought four police cars and a paddy wagon, it wasn't a simple "bar check" as they're stating.
when you read all acounts into this... what the chief says, by backing up the force used AND the LIE used to approve the use of that force, is essentially 'the ***** had it coming'.
that's logic based on past experiences. - johnnr2, on 07/01/2009, -2/+4Unbelievable that this would happen on the very anniv. of Stonewall. This is an outrage.
- cowb0y, on 07/02/2009, -0/+1Eyewitness accounts differ strongly from the official police story:

Um - why aren't you condemning that they sent a person to the hospital?
Furthermore, how do you support the ethics of making a false claim of sexual harassment based upon blatant homophobia as evidenced by the available media taken during the "raid" and in comparison to other raids at straight bars?
I think you've heard these words (condemning, ethics) but you have no idea what they really mean. - JERSEYGREEK, on 07/02/2009, -2/+0BOYCOTT TEXASS!!!
- Foxprowl, on 07/01/2009, -7/+2Um...the police never said *****.
"You're touched and advanced in certain ways by people inside the bar, that's offensive. I'm happy with the restraint used when they were contacted like that." - Police Chief Halstead
Allow me to translate the chief's comments: "Them ***** in that thar bar touched mah officers and now they're complainin' about some rough stuff and one little ol' ***** with a brain injury? Those perverts should be grateful they're alive."
Seems like the police were being accosted by the men in the bar, almost as if they wanted to push them. I'm not condemning that they sent a man to the hospital but they most certainly did not run into a gay bar and start bashing a bunch of '*****'.
The owner of this blog is more ethically in question than the officers. There is absolutely no correlation between the officer's quote and the writer's translation.
I'm all for gay rights, but not at the expense of logic.
