This dude managed to capture the trouncing that "hammered" poor ole Tommy, and it was *not* pretty.
Heh - GliTCH82, on 10/12/2007, -4/+29"In all honesty, I did not fully realize the impact or potential of the blogosphere until very recently…"
And how could you, it's not like you were in a position to be some kind of a visionary leader or something. - dshPls, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20"Everyone already assumes bloggers are unemployed losers... thanks for reinforcing that stereotype...
December 10, 2006 | Unregistered Commenter Marc"
This is awesome, FP! - shadstein, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18From DeLay’s first post:
I have created this blog in order to provide Americans with a new meeting place where such opinions and viewpoints might be better shared, discussed and debated; a place where conservative and traditionalist Americans might speak truth to power and to one another.
In all honesty, I did not fully realize the impact or potential of the blogosphere until very recently…
According to USNews.com, the site will have a way to “filter out” those with dissenting views. - mozzer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19"My hairpiece was carefully hand crafted by slave labor using only the best of Ted Haggard's pubic hair.
December 10, 2006 | Unregistered Commenter Tom Delay"
omg, the comments are absolutely LOL hilarious! I hope Delay read every single one of them. The hammer got hammered! - tomboy501, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16One of the comments from Delay's blog:
"Didn't we already stick a fork in your ass and decide you're done?
To paraphrase you: You WERE the Federal Government...now you're a nothing.
The fact that you are trying to keep your name alive by starting a stupid blog is actually kind of pathetic and sad. Please just go away."
- December 10, 2006 | Unregistered Commenter Meadows
...pretty much sums it up.
There's also "Unregistered commenter Tom DeLay" repeatedly posting: "***** all you critics..."
hehe...yep, the censoring was probably for the best - kremvax, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15"Do you honestly think he will be reading any of the comments on his blog anyways?"
It'll depend primarily on his prison having regular internet access after the trial.
Before that no, but afterwards, he'll have more time on his hands. - kremvax, on 10/12/2007, -6/+19"According to USNews.com, the site will have a way to “filter out” those with dissenting views."
Sort of like The Hitchhiker's Guide's peril-sensitive sunglasses.
Only in this case, they filter out reality. - jivatmanx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Wow, that was incredibly hilarious.
This deserves frontpage - kylesellers, on 10/12/2007, -8/+18I don't see any reason why he should be criticized for filtering out dissenting views on his own blog. He is not in office and has the right to do whatever he wants with his "personal" blog.
It's free speech, let the guy say what he thinks, and then let thinkprogress.org say why they think he's wrong. - kylesellers, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12@kremvax
Do you honestly think he will be reading any of the comments on his blog anyways? - kremvax, on 10/12/2007, -10/+19"I don't see any reason why he should be criticized for filtering out dissenting views on his own blog."
He should be criticized for his failure to take an irony-suppliment.
He was a cornerstone of an administration that so-completely ignored any form or criticism or dissenting view points, that up until about a few weeks ago they were still publicly insisting that we were winning in Iraq, we had the support of the Iraqi people, and there was no civil war there.
Sometimes, listening to your critics can help. - iching, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Not many kind words there LOL, probably be censored soon.
I hate black background blogs no matter who does it.
It gives a feeling of oppression design wise. Darkness - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Funniest stuff I've ever read on Digg!
"Do I make you horny?
Cool, but you are too old for me.
December 10, 2006 | Unregistered Commenter Mark Foley" - kremvax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6So, it pays to become a registered member then.
- milomilomilo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9"***** you Tom
December 10, 2006 | Unregistered Commenter George W. Bush"
hehe - philonous, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Now that DeLay feels the disenfranchisement to which he subjected others when he had the power, he turns to the web. It comes as no surprise that he will filter out dissent. This is his last attempt to appeal to his base for the sole purpose of putting what pressure he can on the criminal process that he faces.
And, possible make some extra money.
It won't work. No one cares. Everyone knows he's a crook. He's going to jail. Such lack of grace in the face of total defeat is entirely in character for DeLay. He has always been a proud slimeball. - minox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"And Democrats need not apply: His site will have a way to filter them out." - Paul Bedard
Too bad Bedard is a complete Ponce. - LoungeActx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6haha...this one has to be my favorite:
"Tom,
When you're locked up, will you smuggle blog posts out in your visitors' rectums?
December 10, 2006 | Unregistered Commenter Rick Derris"
especially since it was posted by Rick Derris (aka the body builder guy from Clerks) - bionicvskungfu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6This is now posted on the comment page:
"Comments posted by non-registered members will be subject to editor approval before appearing. Your comment will not appear until it has been cleared by a website editor."
http://www.tomdelay.com/home/2006/12/11/810202.html#comments - thcobbs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Maybe he's just filtering out all the asinine comments from people who need to get a life and understand what debate and dissenting views really are.
- usbserial, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5We should start working on getting subtle insults in on his blog.
Here are some I've found so far which weren't censored:
"Thank God you're back. The Democrats are too slavishly devoted to their pre-9/11 view of the Constitution. We need you to hammer them back into reality!"
(at least i hope that one is sarcastic... I hope it is praising Democrats for not trying to get around our Constitution rights)
"welcome welcome! looking forward to more of your smiling face on the internets.
December 11, 2006 | Unregistered Commenter some jackaz"
(some jackaz likes to see Tom's mug shot)
"I hope there will be no delay in your return to public office! It's good and refreshing to see someone like you creating a blog where free and unfettered discourse can take place, where you don't censor those who criticize you or ask you hard questions. I'm sure we'll see you respond with your usual eloquence, grace, and wit to the recent turmoils in your political life-- and instead of just pre-chewed questions, you'll have real people with real issues to talk to. Brave of you and well done-- I look forward to watching the debate.
December 11, 2006 | Unregistered CommenterObdicut"
(I hope there will be no DeLay in y our return to public office... get it? ha!) - DuckFOO, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Isn't that what the Patriot Act is for?
- lechatron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Anyone else notice the striking similarity in the registered user icon and the digg icon?
http://www.tomdelay.com/layout/iconSets/dark/user-registered.png - reddevil3, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8"***** you W, get off my blog
December 10, 2006 | Unregistered Commenter Tom Delay" - GliTCH82, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I like this one:
"This is a joke, right?
December 10, 2006 | Unregistered Commenter BatMan" - walkerblackwell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You're right. Means the dude who's running his site is on digg most likely. Hey Delay-man-who's-on-digg, don't you know you're working for a felon? Doesn't that pain you just a little bit? Oh wait. Hold on he's ringing my cell. . . . . . He gives you what? Lap-dances at Vegas strip-clubs? Oh . . . Not Vegas strip-clubs? . . . . huh? On his couch? HE does them? ewh! That's disgusting!
- deesnutz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Delay should change the name of his blog to ...
Diaries of a Prison Bitch - ajpatel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2well that was quick
already taken offline - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"According to USNews.com, the site will have a way to “filter out” those with dissenting views."
GENIUS! a blog where everyone agrees with you! - tsf5000, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6He won't need to filter out dissenting views because only neocons will read and post to his site. I don't think anyone else will bother with it. He's not even in power anymore, who cares what he thinks?
- Mworthin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I would like to be there in jail to watch his 6' 6" cellmate, Bubba, say "Hey Hammer, you wanna be my girlfriend, man ?"
- skulljar, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6"According to USNews.com, the site will have a way to “filter out” those with dissenting views."
KIND-OF like Digg? - MegaBabu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2tom delay is a very honest individual, not corrupt at all!
- MacBastard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Wow, I've never heard of a site so needing a DDOS attack in my life - hopefully it's being served by some cheapass crony running Windows Server who had some extra bandwidth...
The Bastard - spurtle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Comments are still there for you to read. You just need to unbury them or change the setting to show all.
- djcgmcse, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5"the site will have a way to “filter out” those with dissenting views. "
So... there will be no views displayed at all?? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3A way to filter out dissenting views, hunh.
Sounds alot like digg's commenting system. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4WE ARE LEGION!!!!
- mr.hostility, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Ah, but will it have a sarcasm detector?
- smashedcrackpot, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3"Way to go Tom! We're pulling for ya all the way!
You are the glue that binds the gears of America together! Go get em!
December 11, 2006 | AmericaLuver"
Reading throught the comments I found this gem. Having gear problems? just squirt some glue in there. I hope this is a parody, if any site needs one it is tomdelay.com. - PleaseJustDie, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4LOL, this chick is stupid thinking that "Unregistered Commenter Tom Delay" is the real Tom Delay, because yeah he wouldn't be registered for his own blog.
"Mr DeLay,
I'm quite distressed that you are using the f-word in response to these people saying such terrible things about you. Please clean up your language! I'll pray for you, sir.
December 10, 2006 | Unregistered Commenter Suzie Sue" - MacsBaine, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Well, he hasn't been convicted of anything and I have a feeling he won't be.
- JK1150, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5Biased source, filtering out "dissenting views" can likely be read as filtering out trolls. Since the poster of this digg article choose to reference a biased blog, that's what you get.
- aresef, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2God bless America.
- qwertydvorak, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1@squeakywheel: i was going to say the same thing, but you beat me to it. Also, i see the digg version is working hard today.
- djcgmcse, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4well, i guess that's the end of any comments that don't end in "I love you Tom"
- anitab83, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3OK, that is hilarious! Too bad that wasn't shown on his blog just now when I checked ... maybe he took everything down.
- flernk, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2digg down.
- emptycan, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1"In all honesty, I did not fully realize the impact or potential of the blogosphere until very recently…"
Well, it took him a while to understand this. -
