- woodsjransom, on 01/23/2009, -9/+259Forsyth County is one of the most racists in Georgia, they have a rich history. A lot of old school nutjobs up that way. I am sure she was not the only Obama supporter in that area to get harassed. She just took her case to the news media. Another negative mark against Forsyth. They don't like that kind of negative publicity. They were highly embarrassed when Oprah came up there and did her show. The authorities may solve this case, she had been harassed before the fire. I can understand her not wanting to rebuild there she has children. Whoever did this knew she was not home. The GBI usually get involved, it will only be a matter of time. People that do these kinds of things usually are dumb and the GBI will have some leads. This is done in small towns in Georgia to black and white people. Who would believe this is 2009 and we got dumb azz people still behaving like that.
- freedomjoe, on 01/23/2009, -5/+211Spray painted on the fence around the home it said, "Beware [expletive deleted] your black boy will die."
These people need help. I ran into a few of them when I was traveling around -- working on the campaign in different areas. I had one guy threaten to kill me after asking me why a white girl was working for a _____. Exposure is the only answer to get rid of these freaks. They're inbred and one step up from drooling as a form of recreation. - novenator, on 01/23/2009, -5/+167One would think we we're past this type of ***** by now
- shupy, on 01/23/2009, -20/+172I just hope that politicians who danced on the border of promating hate and violence see this.
I'm talking about YOU ms Palin.
Reality is that the Republican party has embraced racist whackos as part of their southern strategy. I hope they see that this is the result of allowing people to think that somehow that kind of racism is tolerable, if it gets a few votes.
We have a lot of hate mongering going on in this country. How long will it be before the morons like Rush and O'Reilly get people worked up enough to incite a few more of these incidents. - nihilville, on 01/23/2009, -15/+130This looks like a job for the FBI, as this clearly sounds like the work of a domestic terrorist to me.

How much you want to wager that the terrorists vote Republican? - Alheithinn, on 01/23/2009, -13/+116Feel the love coming from the right. We boo Bush and they say that's horrible but they drive SUVs into clinics and burn houses down and that's just fine, somehow. These are some twisted MFers.
- xero69, on 01/23/2009, -4/+90Maybe they did her a favor, now she will have an insurance check and a chance to move to a much better community where the people are not ***** crazy racist arsonists.
- texasred54, on 01/23/2009, -7/+84Changing a mindset. How? I lived in South Georgia years ago. Does not seem like it has changed much.
Hopefully, the Secret Service will pay them a visit. - inactive, on 01/23/2009, -6/+82I live 10 minutes from there... (originally from NY...no redneck blood in me I'm glad to say)...from what I've heard....up until about 10 years ago...if anyone came to Forsyth County that was African American to do any work or deliveries they had to be gone by sundown or they local racists would get violent on them (those good god fearing christian folks that they are there)... Wanna know why I hate intolerant talibangelical hypocritical christians so much? I've lived among them for the past 8 years.... It's changing slowly...yet the rednecks are still doing what they do best....being ignorant, uneducated and breaking all 10 commandments every single day....
- wakethefockup, on 01/23/2009, -2/+74Sad happenings. People who show hate like this are a national embarrassment.
- sapphire9488, on 01/23/2009, -4/+69Disgusting. I live in south Georgia and didn't think my town was AS bad as the majority of them here (mostly because we have a university here), but then my mom's car got keyed... I have no doubt that it was because of her Obama '08 bumper sticker. These redneck ***** are everywhere.
I can't wait to move! - Gemfinder, on 01/23/2009, -2/+61"Talibangelical!"
I like it.
[entering in personal vocabulary] - JenniferInMO, on 01/23/2009, -5/+63My husband had a few encounters as well. The hate is beyond my comprehension.
- inactive, on 01/23/2009, -4/+59I actually saw Klan propaganda taped up in a local shopping center a few years ago.... not that they call it the Klan any longer... but they're still around. The flier I saw talked about boycotting "jew owned" MTV.... because all they do is show "our pristine white daughters with dirty ***** hands all over their asses"... My wife (who is also from Brooklyn originally) took the flier down and and brought it into the Super Market where we found it taped to the window and asked for the manager... all he did was say...hmmm....i'll have to look into that (it was probably him that put it up).... the whole area has changed a lot in the past 8 years. When I first moved to this county (one county north of Forsyth in the foothills of the mountians), there was only ONE African American child in the whole county school system...that has changed....it has a long way to go...but the more it changes, the more I expect to see the "retards" rebel a bit and do stupid things like what happened in this article.... one thing I can say about the whole Atlanta and North GA area is...there's a WHOLE LOT of us Yankees down here now and more coming everyday... with that comes "progress and tolerance"... I'm not kidding when I say that the locals that have been here for years and years (since they forced the Cherokee Indians off of the land and marched them on the trail of tears to YOUR state) are STILL fighting the Civil War... it's still going on to them...maybe just in their pea sized brains...but perhaps someone forgot to tell them that was ended a long long time ago....
- Snoosy, on 01/23/2009, -4/+58It hurts my brain to think that there are still people this ***** stupid in the world.
- ThsGuyRightHere, on 01/23/2009, -5/+54I'm sure the people who did this were patriots who love their country. </dripping sarcasm>
I'm just thankful no one was hurt. - ThsGuyRightHere, on 01/23/2009, -4/+52By the way, for my right wing friends on digg: now would be a really good time for some of you to drop by, disavow the arsonist(s) who did this, and remind us that this was the action of one or more individuals who in no way reflect on you and yours. It would restore my faith in humanity just a wee bit.
- BinaryDelt, on 01/23/2009, -3/+49I'm going to move there, buy a house, open a huge insurance policy, fill my yard with Obama signs, and retire after the fire.
- texasred54, on 01/23/2009, -7/+53Why doesn't someone ask Palin if this is the kind of mob think she wants to lead.
- Teh1337Pirate, on 01/23/2009, -2/+47"How do we get back at a country for electing a black president?"
"Oh I know Cletus, lets go burn down some old lady's house!" - williamlee, on 01/23/2009, -1/+43***** pathetic. I'm not shocked though. Born and raised in the deep south and seen this ***** since I was a young'un. It's not just the south though. Western Washington State and Idaho aren't stellar examples of open-minded Americans either. I'd like to say that they're a dying breed but, really, they're just a cancer that won't go into remission.
Also, I don't blame the Republicans for this (Yes, I voted for Barry, because, ***** it, he was the best choice). I know a lot of "life-long Democrats" in the South who voted for McCain because they simply could not stand the idea of an African-American president. Hate can be bipartisan. Not saying that they'd burn anybody's house down but, certain distinctions need to be made. These guys are nuts and clearly not representative of the majority of conservatives in this country. - normlsparky, on 01/23/2009, -1/+39Some things can't be replaced with an insurance check. I can certainly see why she would want to move.
- thegreatgazoo, on 01/23/2009, -4/+40The KKK was founded around there.
Fortunately, Atlanta is expanding up there and shoving the rednecks out. - JenniferInMO, on 01/23/2009, -2/+38Oklahoma is the buckle of the Bible belt. Especially here in Tulsa. I drive by the 30+ ft gold painted praying hands at Oral Roberts U every once in awhile and just get creeped out. Mega churches every mile or so. There is a pretty large African American population in North Tulsa. It's pretty segregated though. We moved here from St. Louis, also segregated but with a more progressive face on it.
My hubby and I thought we were pretty much alone here until they opened an Obama campaign office in Tulsa in October. We went on opening day just to support what we thought would be 2 or 3 optimistic college kids with a veggie tray. We got there at 1:00 p.m. (it had opened at 10 a.m.) By then they had 1,500 people on the sign-in sheet and it was the most diverse crowd you could imagine. Farmers and their wives had even driven in from miles away. Everyone was friendly and glad to see so many supporters.
Of course Oklahoma was the only state where all of the counties went for McCain and Oklahoma was more red than in the last election, but hey at least we are here to muss things up a bit :-) - novenator, on 01/23/2009, -5/+40for the most part, I think most of the country sees through their ***** now. They certainly did a LOT of damage the last 15 years however, turning neighbor against neighbor, friend against friend with their divisive hate speech.
- pintomp3, on 01/23/2009, -5/+39She considers this the "real America" with good "small town values".
- algaris, on 01/23/2009, -1/+34I just moved from Waycross, Georgia a few months ago, and I am not even remotely surprised.
I worked in a bar, and when the elections were starting to heat up, everyone there was certain that Obama was going to get assassinated; kind of the same way that you would hear local farmers discussing how it might rain tomorrow. I couldn't even attempt to say one thing that would ever cast Obama in a good light, otherwise I would hear an endless tirade of how he was "the hand of Satan" and if he was elected and let to live that it was "a sure sign of the Apocalypse." These people seriously thought this, with their heart and soul.
It is sad really; to think that not only are their people like this, but that I also watched them raise their children with the same ideals. - JenniferInMO, on 01/23/2009, -4/+37I think I suddenly know you better. My hubby was born and raised in Brooklyn and we just moved to Oklahoma -- yikes!
- motorboatinsob, on 01/23/2009, -2/+35I live in Forsyth County, GA and yes there are a bunch of dumb rednecks up here! I voted for Obama and it was definitely an unspoken taboo subject. You should see how many people still have their "McCain/Palin" stickers still on their cars. It makes me sick! There really is a lot of deep-rooted bigotry all across this country though. Go up to New England and they are just as racist.
- terrachronos, on 01/23/2009, -4/+37What a wonderful loving christian thing to do. I find it quite interesting to see all the right wing "christian" people down here show their true colors when their party isn't in control of the White House.
Hypocrites, every damn one of them.
"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ. " - Gandhi - gttim, on 01/23/2009, -2/+32From Atlanta, used to live in Cumming (Forsyth County) and now live in Cobb County- stronghold of wealthy Republicans. I see and hear more racism from wealthy suburbanites than from rednecks. However, wealthy suburbanites usually do not spray paint fences, so the fire was probably some young idiot.
- crackerjohn, on 01/23/2009, -3/+32I voted/support Obama and live around Savannah Ga. in Bryan county and my Dad and his friends were calling the recent inauguration a niggaration....so yeah people suck.
- Davidleewhite, on 01/23/2009, -0/+27I was born and lived in georgia for 18 years... , trust me not everyone there is racist..not even alot of people are...but there are those that are and they will go to any lengths to make sure that you know they hate black people... it happens... its not good but it prob won change anytime soon.
- pintomp3, on 01/23/2009, -11/+38There's that southern hospitality.
- DirtyVicar, on 01/23/2009, -1/+27This page really needs an embedded MIDI file that plays Dueling Banjos.
- vaeldas, on 01/23/2009, -2/+28I can't believe that with 8 years of Bush and the crap he pulled, there was never an attempt on his life. At least not a public one, and now within days of Obama being elected, this happened.
The world thanks us because we vote intelligently and get Obama in, if we kill him, the world will condemn us. But these people don't care, so long as the white man is in power.
Sick. - ThsGuyRightHere, on 01/23/2009, -1/+27Sounds like a threat against the president to me.
- treehugger87, on 01/23/2009, -1/+26Nice try, Mr. Hannity, but you're pretty easy to see through.
- Hetman, on 01/23/2009, -1/+23They are not ciminials they are just intolerant and you do not have to tolerate intolerance.
- phrenzy, on 01/23/2009, -7/+28And the deafening silence by the usual anti-Obama suspects on digg is indicative of just how classy they are.
- Pippers, on 01/23/2009, -6/+27Is this really unexpected? The amount of hate and racism that came out from the McCain/Palin rallies was mind blowing. You've got people like Rush Limbaugh on the air basically promoting the failure of Obama. I mean, what are people who listen to that going to think? They are going to rally around it and spread the hate. This is going to be happening as long as stuff like this is promoted and followed.
- vat0r, on 01/23/2009, -5/+26I'm a bleeding heart liberal and I can't stand Palin but I feel as if someone needs to defend the GOP a little here. This is not some crazed Republican guys. This is a crazed racist who hates Obama because he is black. If Obama were a Republican these fools would line up on the opposite side automatically. So let's not blame this on a political party. The GOP may be trenched in the past but I know MANY Republicans who are neither racist or ignorant.
This is the result of something that goes much deeper then political ideology. - emoment, on 01/23/2009, -3/+24Wow, what a way to embarrass the nation.
Hopefully, the majority of racism will die out with the next generation. - ThsGuyRightHere, on 01/23/2009, -1/+22"I know now I was wrong. Intolerance had no place in America. I apologized a thousand times... and I don't mind apologizing over and over again. I can't erase what happened."
--Robert Byrd, 2005 - ElBeh, on 01/23/2009, -6/+25Is it wrong if I laughed that the town name is "Cumming"?
- NCSUspoon, on 01/23/2009, -7/+25And my message to you is, "Get used to it. He is your President now."
- NicoNicoNico, on 01/23/2009, -0/+18I have to agree with you on that one. People in Boston weren't open about their racism, but it was apparent that it was there. I was even told by my ex boyfriend to not tell his family I am Hispanic or else they wouldn't treat me as well. At least here in Arkansas they're open about it, not that I approve of it by any means.
- ThsGuyRightHere, on 01/23/2009, -1/+19You're right Nov. the problem is, the ones who don't see through it buy into it hook, line, and sinker.
