What is going on in the world? - harobaro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Speaking about the police. A friend of mine told me that some criminals were trying to brake into his house the other day, he called the police and they told him "what do you expect, its not our job to protect your house". This was in a small village in Bulgaria, but I dont think people from rural areas are not to be protected only because they are relatively poorer.
Talking about piracy, in the center of the Capital - Sofia, they freely sell illegal copies of music, software, movies etc. and since they pay the police they got no problem. Everyone knows that they sell this over there, but the police goes after blind people, or poor people who use torrent and etc. - DinoZavarski, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0In the world? I don't know. But as somebody, who lives in Bulgaria i can tell you what is going here: A government monopoly over the organized crime. No mobster is allowed to survive (physically) outside the government structures (read news, search google if this sounds unbelievable for you). And as for our brave police - they are the most dangerous pack of thugs in the country. Dangerous, because they managed to put themselves outside the law.
Given this there is nothing irregular in what happens. As any other mob our police does only what somebody pays for. In almost all cases they are payed to do nothing, and do it with a formidable success. But copyright owners pay them to actually do something, so they do what they are hired for. In either case law doesn't matter.
