- inactive, on 10/31/2009, -23/+132Ron Paul is the only freedom fighter we have in Washington..
- TwinTurboMike, on 10/31/2009, -11/+116To further note, here are Watt's top contributors:
http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/contrib.php ... - InTheoryTV, on 10/31/2009, -12/+97I am for auditing the fed. This simple one page bill is for transparency.
However with the grassroots success at getting the ORIGINAL HR1207 so many cosponsor in the US House (308), the forces for the Fed are running scared and trying to water this movement down. Do not let them and this counter attack is to be expected. Now is the time to turn up the volume and get more people involved.
Start wearing your Ron Paul gear out around town again and see what response you are getting. I have done so 3 time in the past 10 days and people I have never met before are actively coming up to me and telling me how much they like the message and to end the fed. None of the people I talked to knew about our local liberty group nor the campaign for liberty which I educated them about. Let your voices be heard and educate. - ThomasDiggsPeg, on 10/31/2009, -13/+90End The Fed By Ron Paul At Amazon

This is not over with yet and we won't compromise or give up on this, ever. - phrogxix, on 10/31/2009, -9/+82Generally I'm not a fan of quotes, especially large ones, but I can't help it. This is the first thing I thought of.
George Carlin -
"Forget the politicians. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice . . . you don’t. You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own, and control the corporations. They’ve long since bought, and paid for the Senate, the Congress, the state houses, the city halls, they got the judges in their back pockets and they own all the big media companies, so they control just about all of the news and information you get to hear. They got you by the balls. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying . . . lobbying, to get what they want . . . Well, we know what they want. They want more for themselves and less for everybody else, but I’ll tell you what they don’t want . . . they don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that . . . that doesn’t help them. That’s against their interests. That’s right. They don’t want people who are smart enough to sit around a kitchen table and think about how badly they’re getting ***** by a system that threw them overboard 30 *****' years ago. They don’t want that. You know what they want? They want obedient workers . . . Obedient workers, people who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork. And just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly ***** jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime and vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it, and now they’re coming for your Social Security money. They want your *****' retirement money. They want it back so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street, and you know something? They’ll get it . . . they’ll get it all from you sooner or later cause they own this *****' place. It’s a big club and you ain't in it. You and I are not in The big club. By the way, it’s the same big club they use to beat you over the head with all day long when they tell you what to believe. All day long beating you over the head with their media telling you what to believe, what to think and what to buy. The table has tilted folks. The game is rigged and nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care. Good honest hard-working people . . . white collar, blue collar it doesn’t matter what color shirt you have on. Good honest hard-working people continue, these are people of modest means . . . continue to elect these rich ***** who don’t give a ***** about you. They don’t give a ***** about you . . . they don’t give a ***** about you. They don’t care about you at all . . . at all . . . at all, and nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care. That’s what the owners count on. The fact that Americans will probably remain willfully ignorant of the big red, white and blue dick that’s being jammed up their ***** everyday, because the owners of this country know the truth. It’s called the American Dream cause you have to be asleep to believe it . . .” - JiveDadson, on 10/31/2009, -14/+85Audit the Fed, call to action. Please forward to everyone you know, and everyone you don't know too.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLwBLQ6DZjI - aubrey, on 10/31/2009, -9/+79A couple of months ago Ron Paul was mentioning on some interview that this exact scenario would likey happen. I guess he's been around the block enough times to know how things work.
I think this is just sad. From reading the bill it seems harmless enough. What could anyone have against it? Ok, sure, people don't want congress to have control over monitary policy. Add a delay to the audit's release to make the contents irrelavant for Congress to be able to apply undo pressure, don't just gut the meaningful auditing provisions out of it. Let us know where our wealth has gone off to please! - NSResponder, on 10/31/2009, -8/+63Mel Watt is a whore. There's no other way to put it.
-jcr - xxalphamalexx, on 10/31/2009, -5/+54Mel Watt is a bought and paid for whore. He doesn't care that over 75% of the American people want a FULL audit of the private corporation called the federal reserve. He just wants to keep his career politician status and the banks keep his coffers full. What a crooked bitch!
- bigp3rm, on 10/31/2009, -6/+50I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. ***** our federal government.
- mieses, on 10/31/2009, -9/+48Can this change can be reversed?
I assume that Watt has a nice job waiting for him at Bank of America. There's no way he will get re-elected after this. - kingp43, on 10/31/2009, -1/+36That Kucinich guy isn't half bad either.
- henri3, on 10/31/2009, -2/+36Thanks TwinTurboMike for posting Watts his names contributors. I love connecting the Dots, Follow the money.
- NSResponder, on 10/31/2009, -6/+39The saddest thing about totalitarianism is the way it infantilizes its subjects. Of course, there will always be those like you who insist on beating them to the punch.
-jcr - jvleis, on 10/31/2009, -8/+41Historians will look back at this financial collapse and see our inability to track down the Fed as a seminal opportunity lost.
The country is in a bankruptcy situation, and we can't even see the banker's books. It's a problem. If we have another downturn when the ARMS and commercial real estate begin defaulting, perhaps sentiment will change. - tpirfan28, on 10/31/2009, -7/+37The opposite of pro is con

We'll probably not win, but we will change the debate, and help put this nation back on track. He may not win the Presidency, buy he will go down in history as the man that revived America. All the same, I will be giving 1000% in 2011/2012 to help this statesman sit in the seat he and he alone deserves.
- midnightliberty, on 10/31/2009, -6/+33Hmmmm. FISA, Patriot Act, Perpetual War for Perpetual Peace, 50% aggregate tax rate, the government has the legal authority to assassinate its own citizens (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ucru/20091027/cm_ucru/obam ... right to bear arms restricted in every major city, defense budget of world conquest proportions, $300 billion black budget, a federal tax code 44,000 pages long, terrorist watch list of over 1,000,000, $100 billion in federal subsidies to corporations. I'd say we live in a totalitarian state.

- inactive, on 10/31/2009, -8/+32This is such a ***** up situation. Finally, people are beginning to see just how much power these stupid clowns have over America and the world. The debt-money, central-banking system is completely rigged. Fractional-reserve banking is daylight robbery against working class citizens.
The last time someone kicked these ***** bankers straight in the nuts an entire planet was engulfed in war. http://billstillsmonetaryreforum.com/index.php?s=e ...
We need to take back the monetary system.
There's only two ways to do this: 1) Awareness 2) Peaceful-protests
The one thing I just don't get, is why no one has ever flipped sides completely. Ie. Got intside the Federal Reserve and blown the whistle on the whole shady operation. Maybe they've just got massive-information barriers so no one but Bernanke and his stooges really know what's going on.

***** the fed. - inactive, on 10/31/2009, -4/+28“Whoever is winning at the moment will always seem to be invincible.” - George Orwell
- inactive, on 10/31/2009, -6/+30You don't get it.
- midnightliberty, on 10/31/2009, -3/+25Your argument is phony. The Federal Reserve already is the sole cause of the inflation we have had over the past 100 years. At the average rate of inflation of 5%, the government will have confiscated 95% of your savings after twenty years.
What's more, its easy credit policies, like that of Greenspan after the dot-com popped and 9/11, fuel massive binges that must inevitably lead to huge collapses and corrections, or depressions. Such was the case in 1929 and 2007. If huge unsustainable booms with decade long depressions resulting are your thing, then yes we should leave the Fed alone. - UKLooney, on 10/31/2009, -6/+27I had no doubt that this would happen.
It is clear now that your efforts will have zero effect on the levels of collusion and corruption between your government officials and their interested corporate parties. - surdelmundo, on 10/31/2009, -5/+26Of course he will be re-elected. Only about 5% of the American electorate has a clue about anything. They believe whatever they see on TV. Mr. Watt will have lots of money for TV ads. He will win.
A Constitutional Republic will only work with an intelligent, informed, moral electorate. Therefore it does not work in America and instead we have a Corporatist Empire with the trappings of democracy. - iancgi, on 10/31/2009, -2/+22exactly right!
yet the people of this country still get in a fevered hysteria over a guy cause he is black and speaks a good lie. There is nothing different about any of em people.
Wanna know which politicians are good?!
Its the ones who get ridiculed by both sides.
ie: Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich, Ralph Nader, etc.
wake the ***** up already America its disgusting and sad to see you at such a high level of ignorance. - SchmuckofNI, on 10/31/2009, -5/+25Horrible. Absolutely horrible. We really need to know where all this money went to and how much money the Fed has... and even if it does get passed in Ron Pauls first form, who's to say that Obama is going to sign it?
- iancgi, on 10/31/2009, -5/+24Do you all still think the government works for and by the people?
Democract or republican, black, or white. Just because they change the label doesn't mean the way it operates is any different.
Maybe you will all understand why 3rd party and candidates with true intent to reform are ridiculed and shunned from elections. Obama was allowed to spew all his false hope because on the inside they all knew he was *****.
Keep living in fairytale land people cause one day youre gonna wake up and not like what you see. - inactive, on 10/31/2009, -2/+21http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yi6XV8yBFoU

-jcr - gobbleplex, on 10/31/2009, -7/+25You say "Democratic controlled House" as though a Republican majority would vote any differently.
- RagManX, on 10/31/2009, -1/+19His link is screwed up. That's why it appears the article is gone. I haven't even read all of the article, but here's the correct link:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ucru/20091027/cm_ucru/obam ...
It just re-emphasizes the right to declare anyone an enemy combatant and therefore eliminate all rights the Constitution says Americans have. Once someone is declared an enemy combatant, the President can then order the CIA to assassinate that person. This is a stupid and unconstitutional pair of powers Pres. Bush granted himself via executive order, and Pres. Obama has maintained that power. - TragedyAndHope, on 10/31/2009, -3/+21What are they hiding??????????? It is time to bombard Melvin Watts.
- funkedup, on 11/01/2009, -1/+18In all seriousness, how can you not support an audit of the Fed? Does it not concern you what banks and international financial institutions have received taxpayer money? Wouldn't you agree that this would be a form of transparency that our current president so vigorously promised? This is all about finding out what went where and who got what. You seem to be in favor of secret organizations that extort and keep dark secrets uncovered.
- MrPatriotMan, on 10/31/2009, -5/+21Who is doing this so we can vote them out?? And thats once again Government for screwing up the one thing that can actually help fix the system!
- govsucks, on 10/31/2009, -5/+20Yes, cut the nuts off your bull, THEN send it out to mate. ***** government, did we expect anything less?
- TragedyAndHope, on 10/31/2009, -0/+15@ brad3378, political involvement with the Fed would certainly not mean the public would be dictating interest rates. The entire essence of why the Fed needs to be ended is in your argument. Take the politics out of money, you think currently there aren't politics with the Fed? Give me a break. Its just the politics are behind closed doors instead of for the people paying taxes. The whole point is the Constitution clearly states Gold and Silver as legal tender and the Congress regulates the value thereof. Gold and Silver prohibits political tampering and let the interest rates be set by the market.
- Barackalypse, on 10/31/2009, -4/+19I'm amused that a Democrat, the party historically all in favor of expanded Government regulation and oversight of the financial sector (or any other sector for that matter), would be the one to gut the bill providing oversight for the one entity where it matters the most.
- TwinTurboMike, on 10/31/2009, -3/+17An update and more detail from Ron Paul:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPgzPxPwEV8 - nygenxer, on 10/31/2009, -5/+19We pay a PRIVATE CORPORATION to supply OUR currency AT INTEREST and we wonder why our monetary policy is so ***** up.
- illfaver, on 10/31/2009, -6/+19Im surprised things were able to get this far. The powers that be are having a cash grab with tax payer dollars...... they have no intention of allowing an audit of there thievery.
- runderwo, on 10/31/2009, -2/+15You don't have any sympathy for people who are bamboozled by political and media con artists? Great show of compassion there, pal. How about taking the opportunity to teach them why they're throwing their wealth away, instead of rubbing their naïvete in their face?
- jjason1985, on 11/01/2009, -1/+14Lets get Rand Paul and Peter Schiff to D.C. too!
- illfaver, on 10/31/2009, -0/+12They are all doing it.... both sides. The people you vote for are all corrupt, thats the only way you can get enough money to be elected.

Let Er RIp !!! - RonaldLewis, on 10/31/2009, -3/+15It's long overdue for the people to reform its government. Standing idle and waiting for your elected officials is no longer effective -- there's only a handful of people you can rely on and that isn't enough.
