207 co-sponsors as of today.

Precisely our point. - McLieberman, on 06/10/2009, -7/+201CALL/EMAIL/FAX your CONGRESS person and US Senators! We want Transparency & Accountability!
I'm truly surprise that CNBC and their bobbleheads posted this article. CNBC senior FED talking head, Steve Liesman must be crying during commercials.
Arianna Huffington brings up HR 1207 as there's a bill to AUDIT THE FED!
Jim Grant is Very Smart and Very Good... Wake up people, the government and banksters have been scamming us all.
Huffington: What would you do with the Toxic Assets? Grant: Screwy Structures that Wall street Created... appoint a Vice President of FAILURE! hah hah
Jeffery Immelt (GE/NBC/CNBC/MSNBC CEO) is going to send a memo to Squawk Box not to allow comments like this to ever happen again. Exposing the big charade is against the Fascist regimes and their Banking "Masters of the Universe" mandated policies.
I bet you the US government pulls some circus stunt lying excuse like 'National Security'. That's usually what happens when you try to expose the fraud and schemes of the US government. - Jvlach, on 06/10/2009, -10/+181I dug this so hard my balls exploded!
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -7/+163Ron Paul's Audit the Fed bill presents a win-win situation. If it passes, we find out what these crooks are doing. If it doesn't pass, the legislators are exposed as looking out for the secret interests of a criminal institution rather than for the people they claim to represent.
- mdc10s, on 06/10/2009, -2/+155HR 1207 up to 209 co sponsors now
- Wosat, on 06/10/2009, -2/+127"We can create money by fiat. Our checkbook doesn't have a ledger. So you write out the check, it's (money/currency) just transmogrified out of thin air. Which is a nice checkbook to have."
- Jerry Nelson, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Public Relations. May 14, 2008. - LouisCipher777, on 06/10/2009, -4/+87we can only hope
- Dustin00, on 06/10/2009, -7/+67If the Fed completely freeks out over this (and it will), then give them 12 months to clean up their mess. Schedule the audit, make it clear when it will begin and then make it a quarterly event.
Transparency is required in a democracy. We paid for it. We get to know what the hell is going on. - zantos420, on 06/10/2009, -1/+58End the Fed.
- richmomz, on 06/10/2009, -1/+53As of today, HR 1207 only needs 11 more sponsors before it can be forced out of committee and put on the floor for a vote! If your representative isn't on board yet, give them an earful about it!
- IheartRonnyP, on 06/10/2009, -2/+52The Fed has been screwing with our dollar for decades, and they are quite likely the primary reason that we're in the mess we're in today. The audit would remove the veil of secrecy that the Fed has enjoyed for close to a century. I don't care if the audit costs ten billion dollars -- it will be far less than the trillions that the Fed now passes out to its friends on a regular basis. I myself will contribute $20 to the audit costs if I have to.
- Unreal030, on 06/10/2009, -4/+52EASIEST WAY TO ASK YOUR REPRESENTATIVES TO COSPONSOR H.R.1207 & H.R. 450:
Do not just use the automatic message, just simply tell them that you want them to support it and that if they do not you will NOT vote for them next time around and encourage your friends to act in similar fashion. Only 2 sentences, takes 2 minutes.

Please send them a message to support Ron Paul's:

Also please send them a message to support John Shaddegg's:
HR 450
Enumerated Powers Act
To require Congress to specify the source of authority under the United States Constitution for the enactment of laws, and for other purposes.

As the Congress is supreme law of the land, all legislation that does not stand up to this scrutiny is ILLEGAL.
These two pieces of legislation are more important to getting America back on the right track than anything else that will come up anytime soon, so please take the a few minutes out of your day to do this. - inactive, on 06/10/2009, -3/+50I don't know about that, but it will be a test whether or not he really believes in transparency.
- AndrewLeon, on 06/10/2009, -2/+44about ***** time
- billyf3, on 06/10/2009, -1/+41I'd like to see Peter Schiff take these pricks down
- richmomz, on 06/10/2009, -1/+40"Aaaagh - the light of public scrutiny! It burns! IT BURNS!!"
- bobbydiamondz, on 06/10/2009, -2/+37I apologize for laughing out loud at your pain. Exploding balls are not a laughing matter.
- angusm, on 06/10/2009, -4/+37There's a joke in Computer Science that you should "never test for an error condition you don't know how to handle".
Perhaps before we audit the Fed, we should develop some contingency plans to deal with the possibility that the auditors will turn up five shipping containers full of IOU's and a cocktail napkin with "***** if I know where the money went. Let's make something up." scrawled on it in red lipstick. - compulsive1, on 06/10/2009, -5/+38Maybe I'm too pessimistic, but I think the audit will not see the light of day. Even if it passes Congress, it will die in the Senate. Should some remnants of it make it to president's desk it will be vetoed citing national interest and privileged state secrets.
Obamabots will eat it up and repeat it everywhere while making fun of Ron Paul. - SilverBlade2k, on 06/10/2009, -3/+35"Fed Would Be Shut Down If It Were Audited, Expert Says"
Everyone else says "GOOD!" - skeuerle, on 06/10/2009, -5/+36Ron Paul FTW!
- toekneebullard, on 06/10/2009, -4/+34It wouldn't shut down. It would be deemed to big to fail and then it would loan itself 17 gazillion dollars and everyone in charge would tell us it was fixed.
That's how it works. Haven't you guys learned that yet? - SpoonMSU, on 06/10/2009, -4/+31Please oh please oh please!!!
Although I fully expect a slap on the wrist, a few new "regulations," and then business as usual... - TheInformer, on 06/10/2009, -3/+29The White House would fail just as terribly if it were audited.
- IheartRonnyP, on 06/10/2009, -1/+27Why do you want to give them time to scrub their tracks? You know the file burning is going on over at the Fed offices as we speak. They've had 95 years behind closed doors; it's time to bust it WIDE open!
- aliabassi1, on 06/10/2009, -1/+25Agree.... Fed has been out of whack for a long time now ..........AUDIT!!!
- Krakerjax, on 06/10/2009, -2/+25Believe it or not, America can indeed survive without the Federal Reserve.
Even more impressive, it wasn't a huge aspect of the economy UNTIL it was signed into action by Wilson.
Or my history is really rusty. But I'm pretty sure Jackson played a big role in kicking ye olde central banking system square in the nuts. - waspbr, on 06/10/2009, -3/+26good riddance
- oboredone, on 06/10/2009, -8/+31The sooner the better. Hell, interest rates are shooting up like a rocket all jacked up on Mountain Dew.
- afallucco, on 06/10/2009, -1/+23Well, maybe the american people will actually be able to start understanding how screwed up our financial system is.
- xerigen, on 06/11/2009, -1/+22@Krakerjax
Exactly right. The Federal Reserve Act was pushed through by Wilson. Jackson's main issue during his presidency was getting rid of the Central Bank. The fact that he is on the $20 bill causes him to roll over in his grave daily. - smdyson, on 06/10/2009, -2/+23If Obama vetoes this bill, we should call for his impeachment. This is what the people want.
- darlingt, on 06/11/2009, -0/+20Dugg for transmogrification.
- monkeyrun, on 06/10/2009, -1/+21That's when you realize 1+1 = 100000.
- BrownieMix, on 06/10/2009, -0/+20I just called my congressman using Skype. :)
- Wulfgar3D, on 06/11/2009, -3/+22Yes you have been brainwashed into thinking that the Fed is even needed.
- IheartRonnyP, on 06/10/2009, -0/+19Call using a tin can phone if you have to!
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -2/+21You'd rather have a group of bankers answerable to no one controlling it?
- Zong, on 06/10/2009, -1/+20Auditing the FED needs to be done weather it accomplishes something or not isn't the point. The FED is a private company which unfortunately has way too much power over our economic system. Because that power not only do we need to audit the fed but it needs to be done on a yearly basis the cost of auditing it will be a pittance compared to the money we already spent. And if our goal is to truely have a transparent and accountable system and transform the economic structure of the country to a more sustainable one then we need to have all the information available to us. It's better to check the FED and be proved wrong then to not check the fed and be proved right (From the Libertarian Point of Few). I'm not a libertarian nor am I free market guy but I sure as hell better know that the place where we get our money isn't screwing around.
- Unreal030, on 06/10/2009, -1/+19He still needs a test? Obviously someone hasn't been paying attention to the news the last year....
- juankovo, on 06/10/2009, -0/+17Even if it doesn't make it through Congress this time, it will still raise awareness of the problem.
Also, those Congress(wo)men who vote against it will have a hard time explaining why they don't like transparency in government. - dupems, on 06/10/2009, -1/+18Good. Good riddance then, Fed.
- madduck623, on 06/10/2009, -0/+17They'll be willing to help if there's enough significant pressure from their constituents to act on this matter. a year or two ago the fed wasn't big enough news for enough people to care and make a difference, but that's changing.
- rdyup, on 06/10/2009, -4/+21REVOLUTION!!!
- Ocyris, on 06/10/2009, -0/+17It can pass cause most of them have no idea what the FED really does. If their constituents all press them to support it then they have no choice if they want to get re-elected.
- kaelyiesta, on 06/10/2009, -1/+17"QUESTION EVERYTHING!"
I absolutely agree. So, my first question is for you: proof of the earthquake machine? - smdyson, on 06/10/2009, -5/+20The money supply should be controlled by an actual Federal entity, not a private bank that goes for profit.
- compulsive1, on 06/10/2009, -1/+16There is the possibility that once exposed as broke, US will be cut off from the privilege of paying for goods with dollars. That would mean less imports and high prices overnight.
We would have to adjust very quickly and start making things of value again as opposed to issuing paper notes in exchange for goods and services.
It would be a tough situation that could lead to all kinds of tensions, both domestic and international.
OTOH, information in itself is good- it leads to progress. -
