How can anyone vote for McCain when they know he tells so many lies? - dodawop, on 08/10/2008, -4/+34Shame on McCain to "knowingly mislead" the American public on Obama's tax proposals. Obama will not raise taxes on any individual or "small business" earning less than $250,000 per year. To say anything other than this, is a flat out lie. McCain's ads are a lie!!
- fantanel, on 08/10/2008, -4/+33If you make less than $111,646 per year, your taxes will be cut MORE by Obama than McCain.
- alaprst, on 08/10/2008, -5/+32Barack Obama has substance and inspires. John McCain has nothing to offer but negative attacks and should not receive any consideration to be president.
- berryessence, on 08/09/2008, -10/+31IT DOES! THAT'S THE PROBLEM WITH THE RETHUGS! THEY ARE TRYING TO STEAL THE ELECTION AGAIN
NOT THIS TIME....NOT ON MY WATCH!
I'm going to make this viral! - stanjz, on 08/10/2008, -6/+26I guess there are no consequences for McCain if he lies, so he might as well do it. The same thing happened with George Bush.
- marabout40, on 08/10/2008, -1/+18CNN crunches the numbers on Obama's and McCain's tax plans: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fbxpMw4mco
- cg4et, on 08/09/2008, -7/+23As if "facts" have any relevance in a political campaign.
- sassce, on 08/10/2008, -9/+21Well now perhaps the media will start doing its job and report to the American people what honesty sounds like rather than continue to let McShame's garbage go unchallenged!
- inactive, on 08/10/2008, -2/+14McCain: would you like lies with that?
- marabout40, on 08/10/2008, -2/+14John McCain is a liar. Just like Bush. McCain=Bush.
- buckpower, on 08/10/2008, -3/+15I'm glad to hear the Obama calling McCain out for being a liar.
The John McCain of 2000 wouldn't even recognize, yet alone vote for, the John McStain of 2008. - inactive, on 08/10/2008, -1/+12"I think":
McCain's ads are just bizarre and amusing at best. McCain repeatedly attacks Obama and never asserts his own solutions and ideas in his ads. Obama continues to release ads that speak to specific ideas and plans once he takes office. Has anyone even seen a "first blood" attack ad by Senator Obama? I haven't seen one. The only time I see Obama "attacking" McCain is in news soundbites where he's speaking to a crowd, and then it's to politely (albeit somewhat tongue-in-cheek) point out McCain's ignorance and lies.
Why is McCain always talking about the bad things Obama will do? Why doesn't McCain tell all of us what he's going to do to help the economy, or healthcare, or our energy crisis? BECAUSE HE DOESN'T HAVE A COMPREHENSIVE PLAN. The only thing he's got is going negative.
I'm always stunned when some talking head or writing hand says that both candidates have gone negative. Really? I don't think Obama has gone negative at all except to defend himself and point out the idiocy put on display by McCain.
McCain is making a fool of himself. I don't think he gets this. He puts a nail in his political coffin every time he comes out with one of his cheesy attack ads. And the ads are VERY cheesy. With the exception of being dishonest, they have no impact whatsoever.
I think McCain truly believes he can win this election simply by attacking Obama. I think he underestimates the frustration of the American people with the current administration. I think he's a sad old man that a lot of people pity and he's just getting in a last hurrah as he gets humiliated between now and November. And I think it's a sad reflection on repugnantcans and conservatives that McCain is the best they cfan do. - stevenwag, on 08/10/2008, -3/+12Such distortions really have to be refuted. And when appropriate, they should be called "lies."
- cg4et, on 08/10/2008, -2/+11Note to self: Digg users are prone to miss subtle ironies
- rsjkml, on 08/10/2008, -1/+9McCain - Just like Bush, only angrier, older and more corrupt.
- Aero347, on 08/10/2008, -0/+7All you have to do is impose a 95% tax upon war profiteering companies like haliburton, blackwater and big oil..
- absurdist, on 08/10/2008, -1/+8Looks like McCain's paid bury brigade is up to the old Nixonian - Rovian tactics again. Must suck to not have any integrity.
- sulthernao, on 08/10/2008, -1/+8In case anyone was wondering about how the candidates differ on taxes: http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk272/hannahhas ...
- pintomp3, on 08/10/2008, -1/+7nice little graph that breaks it down:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/story ... - buckpower, on 08/10/2008, -2/+8Pulease. That's a lie.
Furthermore, all the Republicans do is tax the middle class and give that money to the oil companies and halliburton. Then they start wars that middle and lower class kids get sent to fight and die for, while they count their blood money.
I say screw THAT. - buckpower, on 08/10/2008, -4/+10I bet you'd be hard-pressed to even define socialism without the assistance of wikipedia.
- Aero347, on 08/10/2008, -1/+6How about we just tax war profiteers and anyone that owns stock in big oil by 95%. That should cover the bill..
- fthyb, on 08/10/2008, -3/+8Barack Obama needs to start saying something like this: "I used to call John McCain an honorable man, but this campaign cycle has brought this honor into question. I still respect his service and sacrifice to this country as a POW those many years ago, but the negative and false attack ads that he is approving against me makes me question his honor today.
Tell John McCain to stop the lies and negativity and engage in a reasonable and honorable discussion on the issues that threaten American's security and prosperity.
I am Barack Obama and I approve this message. - TheSwashbuckler, on 08/10/2008, -0/+4McCain has no honor...
- xaoiv, on 08/10/2008, -0/+4The Youtube view count isn't updated in real time.
If you check again, it's now at 3608. - gail40, on 08/10/2008, -0/+4That's right! Call a liar a liar!
- inactive, on 08/10/2008, -2/+6all that tax money is being wasted on war, so you can get off your high horse
- fthyb, on 08/10/2008, -1/+5Fun4two,
What in the world are you saying? - lapdogs, on 08/10/2008, -0/+4Has McCain told the TRUTH about ANYTHING yet???
Look at all his ads that FAIL Factcheck!!
http://www.dailykos.com/tag/FactCheck - Tootie5347, on 08/10/2008, -1/+4Apparently, though, you believe in socialism for the mega rich and large corporations. Funny how that works, out, eh?
You think it's okay for mega rich people to pay less of a tax percentage than a secretary who works for them?
You think it's okay for the large rich corporations to get more and bigger breaks than the struggling small business? While the large, rich corporations give millions in pay to their CEO whether they do a good job or not? Heck a lot of small business owners can barely take a salary out for themselves? So you think it's still okay to give corporate welfare to the big business while the small business is left out?
Ludicrous! They don't call it "trickle" down for nothing - that's all that works it's way down, is a trickle - a small amount. - cyberjoek, on 08/10/2008, -0/+3First things first: http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/fightthesme ...
Second: What about his policy don't you like? Remember that a president is more than just the person it's also about who they surround themselves with. Do you like the oil men, lobbyists, and religious zealots that McCain has surrounded himself with? You're vote is strongest when you consider what you want out of the government and what each candidate will try and get you.
Third: It's "poor" not "pour". Pour is to empty something from a bucket.
Fourth: What does any of this have to do with the video and McCain's repeated smears of Obama's plans using lies? That's what this thread is about. - rewinn, on 08/10/2008, -0/+3Why should anyone "defend raising taxes on the rich"?
It's good public policy, needing no defense. Our Founders didn't want a wide division of wealth in our nation; they saw what it did in England and it wasn't pretty.
Your attempt to change the subject to nationalized healthcare failed. The reason Obama's plan is much stingier than Hillary's is that he doesn't depend on large tax increases. - friscos, on 08/10/2008, -3/+6Hello corporate media types! I believe the Obama team is laying this out as simply and as clearly as possible *FOR YOU*. The McCain campaign's cynical series of ads are chock-a-block full of lies and misquotes about Barack Obama and his policies.
It's time for the you to **DO YOUR JOBS** and call John McCain on it. How long are you going to allow McCain's complete fabrications, lies and inuendo to be "reported" unchallenged by your papers, airwaves and talking heads? - Frejesal, on 08/10/2008, -1/+4More tax deception?
MORE COWBELL!
Also, Dugg for the random dude looking over his cubicle at the beginning. "HI MOM!" - buckpower, on 08/10/2008, -0/+3Sorry, but that was a ***** misrepresentation of Barack's answer at that debate, and you know it.
- buckpower, on 08/10/2008, -0/+3You're a *****. Obama mentioned inflating tires to proper pressure, but it was by no means the cornerstone of his energy plan. And he had a point, tire inflation makes a hell of a difference in your gas mileage. Overinflated OR underinflated tires can reduce MPG significantly.
Which McCain has now admitted, leaving you the sole person still defending this idiocy. - cmonroe, on 08/10/2008, -0/+3"I'm John McShame and I approve these lies."
- 5xSTUN, on 08/10/2008, -0/+3-- insert obligatory Homer Simpson quote about using facts to prove anything that's even remotely true here --
- abby11, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2SAME people who are paying MILLIONS A MINUTE! Get out of Iraq and fix our COUNTRY!
- sulthernao, on 08/10/2008, -1/+3http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk272/hannahhas ...
Looks like people making 220K and under will spend less in taxes then before. 220K isn't even middle class. - Aero347, on 08/10/2008, -1/+3How are those McCain funbucks coming southwestnut? Almost have enough for a tactical nuke from McCain's personal arsenal?
- Muzikal203, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2And quite possibly, DUMBER. (Scary thought, isn't it?)
- Aero347, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2poor baby.
- ibonewits, on 08/10/2008, -1/+3"Behind every great fortune stands a great crime."
Except for some dot.com and lotto millionaires, the superrich are all criminals staying out of jail only because they own the justice system. - MaryanneAZ, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2Has McCain told the truth? Yes, twice, (1) when he said he is old, and (2) when he admitted he finished at the bottom of his Naval Academy class. Everything else has been pure BS and spin intended to deceive the electorate. Hopefully, those who vote party affiliation only will be smart enough to vote for Barack Obama for President and follow their conscience on the down ticket candidates. I pray.
- lapdogs, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2And at the rate people are getting laid off (fired) and having to take two or three jobs (if not more) to survive, you can bet that their wages are not in the Upper Brackets!!
- minox, on 08/10/2008, -4/+6Oh thank God. I wasn't sure that you were on the watch for this election. Now I can sleep better. Where shall we send your medal?
- buckpower, on 08/10/2008, -1/+3LOL. Judging by your lack of intelligence, I'd wager that you're in DIRE need of some tax relief. Funny thing is, you're too dense to vote for the guy who can help because of something your moronic snake-handling preacher told you.
I salute you, Mr. consistently votes against his own interests because ignorance just fits comfortably... - ibonewits, on 08/10/2008, -1/+2Sounds like a great idea to me!
Millionaires used to get taxed at 90% before the fascist counterrevolution of the 1980s moved their tax burden onto the middle class and the poor.
We've always been in a class war. We're just starting to fight back now! -
