- tcquad, on 10/12/2007, -1/+56Fox News is always good for a laugh, but this editorial is just sad. It sounds like it was written by a couple of third grade girls deciding who they want to be class president. Seriously, for those who didn't read the article, these are direct quotes:
"Romney, who had the most face time of all of the candidates, showed himself to be the handsome, well-spoken candidate that he is."
"Hunter was more attractive and handled the immigration issue better than Tancredo."
"Losers were former Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson who was dull, unattractive, and basically uninteresting."
Handsome? Attractive? Who the hell cares! Do the issues even matter anymore? What is wrong with these people??? - Cutkomp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+39John McCain looked crazy up there during the debates.
- gmason08, on 10/12/2007, -3/+38The rigged system is killing us ALL. The obviousness of the current system being rigged to do the bidding of the very few is undeniable. Yesterdays episode with ABC (some of you here know what I mean by that) served to demonstrate that the game is even worse than those of us already "on to them" thought.
No offense meant to anyone here but there are essentially three groups of people and understanding that is one key to solving this critical dilemma:
1. Those who already know the system is gamed against us.
2. Those who do not yet see the system is gamed against us(some of those never will).
3. Those who know the system is gamed and either are "IN" on the game or (wrongly) believe the gamed system serves their self interest so they willingly/actively support and perpetuate the game.
For those that understand the game and realize how dangerous/damaging it is for all, fight it in every way you can. If you prefer Ron Paul also help Gravel because all indications are that he is an anti-game candidate and vice versa. Try to demonstrate/explain/convince that the system is gamed against us all to those who have yet to catch on to the game but are well meaning people trying to do the right thing.
For those of you who think the game is "good" for you personally, it is NOT in the long run(unless you are one of a very small group of people), please reconsider and help end this corrupt and dangerous status quo. - ganjadude4391, on 10/12/2007, -7/+32Voice your concerns sorry for the double couldnt finish editing

Ron Paul will not "play ball" with one particular interest group, I'll leave you to figure out which one (and no, its not the military industrial complex to which I refer). To support this group determines your survival in US politics (and I'm surprised Paul has lasted as long as he has because of it).

its not.
lol @ fox news and their viewers - hagbard72, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Thompson was a huge supporter of the invasion of Iraq, wasn't he? Also, his positions are light years different than those of Paul, who is a strict constitutionalist. BTW, if Paul continues to build support regardless of efforts to kill that support, expect the smear campaigns to begin. They'll bring up stuff that can't be explained in 30 second sound bites, like "you think the civil war should never have been fought???"
Sorry, I looking from the outside (I'm Canadian) I think the US is truly doomed. Time to get as far away from the place as possible. - dmorbius, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I'm glad you did some research, that is more than most people who just "know" the facts based on gut feelings do, but you still don't have all of the facts. Here is my understanding of his views, if I am incorrect, someone, please correct me. (but please only if you know what you are talking about, not if you just think you know what you are talking about.
1. His stance on the 14th amendment is based on people of foreign (read Mexican) citizenship coming to this country illegally to give birth to their children. According to the 14th amendment those children are automatically citizens of the United States, therefore; their parents use that as an argument to stay in the country. This may not seem like a big issue where you are from (I'm not claiming I know where that is) but in Texas and other states immediately across the border, it is.
2. The 17th amendment wasn't passed until 1913, which by the way happened under the same administration that gave us such gems as income tax and prohibition. ( I know the President has no part in Amending the Constitution). To read the full reason it was passed and the idea behind repealing it, http://www.articlev.com/repeal_the_17th_amendment.htm
3. If you follow the news lately, I believe covered here on digg.com, you will find a challenge for anyone to find any law requiring you to pay income tax. There are 2 issues at hand, a) an income tax is needed to support the bloated spending of the federal government. However the federal government is much larger then the founding fathers of this country ever intended it to be. The 10th amendment shows you who the founding fathers had in mind for most of the decisions. If you eliminate much of the unnecessary and illegal elements inside of the federal government, you would eliminate the need for income tax. The income derived by the federal government by other means could cover the costs for the areas the federal government is supposed to be handling. b) There is the issue that any money you receive from your job isn't in fact income but a break-even point.
4. The issue of Fiat money has been covered extensively, you can find it on the Internet so I'm not going to go into detail here because I am getting long-winded enough. The federal government has no legal authority to establish a Federal Reserve, its as simple as that. Also, countries without a Federal Reserve have never had a major economic crash and their inflation rates are significantly lower than the US, you can read about it here: http://www.mises.org/story/2533
5. How can you claim to be fighting a war on terrorism if terrorist could walk across the thousands of miles of unmanned border between the US and our surrounding countries. If illegal immigrants and drugs can continue to get into this country, so can terrorists.
6. Since we are speaking in ifs on this issue, IF a Supreme Court appointee happens during his term (which I haven't heard of any Justice retiring soon) and IF he purposely appoints a Pro-life justice, since you can only go 2 ways on this there is a 50-50 chance that he would, then he wouldn't be a man of his word and would be no different than any other candidate. But that is a chance I am willing to take.
Ron Paul is a confessed libertarian which has more in common with Conservatism than liberalism. I think you, as most have, are confusing beliefs that are against the status quo and in favor of what the founding father had in mind, as right-wing beliefs. But who are we to tell our founding fathers they were wrong since they are the ones who had to sacrifice everything to create what they believed was an ideal country when we had to sacrifice nothing.( I know that last part is rhetoric) - gmason08, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12It is better to expose scum than to pretend it does not exist.
- gmason08, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Because he is definitely NOT a "tool" for any form of globalization and more importantly he is not a tool for any form of narrow interest(he cannot be bought/corrupted). The foregoing, as well as a number of other great reasons, are why those of good will/not seeking selfish gain and know the true/complete facts about Dr. Ron Paul are enamored by him.
Get the real story on Ron Paul, join the revolution.

- MacSuxWindozSux, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Fox News is propaganda.
Fox news has been quietly promoting Mccain for some time now.
A few weeks back they started up with anti bush comments saying "can we elect Mccain now?"
Fox is going to keep pushing Mccain, they simply want him to win.
Ron Paul should win. But he won't. He's the non corrupt candidate, an average joe.
Thing is... if he ever built up momentum to threaten front runners, we all know that there would be a smear campaign on the go to ensure that the next republican President "Plays Ball".
He won't win, his own part won't let him win. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't vote for him. - argoff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9At first I thought that it was just some lone commentator spouting off, but then I noticed that Ron Paul wasn't even mentioned once. Not even in passing. WTF how could they ignore him. This has to got to be the 1st presidential debate in history were some advocated killing the IRS and the Federal reserve, and the backpedaling on the national ID card issue after Ron Paul spoke was spectacular. Paul was the only one who even bothered to mention habeus corpus.
- Neiby, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10You're going to be waiting a while if you want another Reagan. None of the current crop of Republicans comes close.
- WilliamDavis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7What he has is a fairly coherent philosophy. It's not much to ask for. Most of the other candidates are just plain snakes. They're the fakest of the fake, looking out for themselves and their friends - instead of looking out for the rights of everyone. 99% of America doesn't fall into their friend group, and most that think they do are delusional.
- hagbard72, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Yep.

Are you afraid to say that AIPAC has hijacked the country and that our foreign policy makes more sense for Israel than it does for the US because you'll be labeled anti-semitic? What is your agenda? For all of the bashing you take from the left, do you really now want to take it from the right. Is there some conspiracy there to completely ignore Ron Paul, who is probably the best hope this country has?
I know your reporting is biased and sensationalist, but I figured even you would get something about a republican debate correct.
Your news service is not only a deplorable laughingstock, it has perhaps now completed the long journey down the winding road to become more fake than the fake news shows Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert host.
Absolutely disgusting. - hagbard72, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I agree with you regarding his anti-immigration stance. The consistent libertarian position would be to eliminate access to social program for immigrants, and allow those who make it on their own to stay and make it unappealing for those who won't or can't to come in the first place. Paul can't repeal any amendments to the constitution, so no need to far there (wonder if he just says that for local support knowing he would be powerless to actually carry through?). Given the options, I think Ron Paul would be the best choice for Americans but I don't get to make that choice.
- InetRoadkill, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9Reagan was grossly over-rated.
// Yes, I'm a moderate conservative. - WilliamDavis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You got that right.
If he ever gained enough traction to not be ignored, the new story will be how dangerous he is and why so many loons are supporting him. People who have any type of money coming from the federal government will be crapping their pants on the way to vote for anyone but Ron Paul. Supporters of Paul will be cast as enemies and crazies. - h3smith, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I don't care if you are a Paul supporter or not.
McCain was in fact one of the WORST performances at the debate. His answers were crap, rehearsed on end (and he couldn't even speak properly), and typical to the ***** he has spouted from his mouth for awhile. He didn't win by far, he may have beat someone out for last place, thats about it. - JWav3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5John McCain represents the worst in a government official. That of a tyrannical, jingoistic, warmonger. He intends to use the force of our government on other nations and makes no excuses for it except its for "our safety"
I'm supporting Ron Paul as we do not need to be policing the world. - turnthepage, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Technically, no they aren't. If you have taken an Argumentation and Debate class, you would have learned that debate is actually something that can be quantified based on a number of factors.
- hagbard72, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Except that its the kiss of death for any politician.
- nosecohn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I think the lesson in all these stories is that the debates are broadcast so that WE, the VOTERS, can decide who we like. Don't let somebody else tell you who the "winner" is. It's an exhibition more than a competition.
- drxavier, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Fox News must figure no one actually watched the debate, so we'll just spin it any way we want. McCain clearly gave the lamest performance for a front runner. His "I'll follow bin Laden to the gates of Hell" was a real side-splitter. If only!
