FBI 'covers up' file of nuclear-secrets theft
timesonline.co.uk — THE FBI has been accused of covering up a key case file detailing evidence against corrupt government officials and their dealings with a network stealing nuclear secrets. The assertion follows allegations made in The Sunday Times two weeks ago by Sibel Edmonds, an FBI whistleblower, who worked on the agency’s investigation of the network.

- Frnnkdlxx, on 01/21/2008, -0/+6I'm sure, just like everybody else, I was not surprised to see Israel implicated.
Selling nuclear secrets to Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, who, under THEIR reasoning would in turn sell those secrets to Iran and others... What do these people do when not completely blowing their credibility?

- avengingturnip, on 01/21/2008, -2/+33This information ties this scandal even more tightly to the lies told as part of the run up to the Iraq war.
"(The file) claims the government official warned a Turkish member of the network that they should not deal with a company called Brewster Jennings because it was a CIA front company investigating the nuclear black market. The official’s warning came two years before Brewster Jennings was publicly outed when one of its staff, Valerie Plame, was revealed to be a CIA agent in a case that became a cause célèbre in the US."
In Patrick Fitzgerald's stonewalled investigation everyone claimed they did not know about Plame's role until they read about it in the newspaper. Obviously, her position was well known among the cabal long before then. - UnstableMind, on 01/21/2008, -1/+36Sad that this comes from media across the proverbial pond. I thank you, maybe I need to start a new media outlet here in the states.

Also, this just in.
The sky is blue. - evilpoptart, on 01/21/2008, -1/+18i find it sickening and horrifying that this isnt just some conspiracy theory.
- azAZ09, on 01/21/2008, -0/+9I find it even more sickening that this is being sidelined by the media and treated like a conspiracy theory.
- CrazedLeper, on 01/21/2008, -2/+8Most conspiracy theories have a solid basis in fact. Back and to the left; building 7. I could go on, but what's the point? You've all been conditioned to reflexively say "conspiracy nut".
- gabeh73, on 01/24/2008, -0/+1this is a conspriacy thoery!....Why are you so brain dead to assume that a conspiracy theory must be false? why don't you stop worrying so much about weather something is a "conspiracy theory" or not and just analyze the facts. we are being f$$$$$ by the government and the media. trying talking to reproters about it...see where it gets you.
- Napoleone, on 01/21/2008, -1/+31Why is the Bush administration not prosecuting these homegrown proliferators of weapons of mass destruction? Why has the Democratic Congress done nothing? Why are none of the U.S. media covering this story and creating awareness?
The answer is, they're not working for us.
I would love for some independent reporter to approach the various candidates and ask them what they believe should be done about Sibel Edmonds' substantiated claims. Their responses would be very interesting for sure.- poiuytrewq44, on 01/21/2008, -0/+5I like the way you think muchacho.

- markleyjames, on 01/21/2008, -1/+11Why should anyone be surprised? Bureaucracies are only good for increasing their budgets and explaining why it isn't their fault. For example, this article
http://www.scragged.com/articles/the-cia-strikes-a ...
explains that the CIA hasn't gotten anything right since it was founded, yet its budget goes up every year. - RedShirtNumber2, on 01/21/2008, -0/+12My guess is that this file would burn high ranking people in both parties in some way or one of the parties would be using it to expose the scandal in order to get political advantage going into a election year. There is something really rotten and crooked going on here and people at really high level in both parties are sitting on it.
- spaceman77, on 01/21/2008, -0/+8Come'on american media! where are your priorities?
Canadian media CBC????
I can't imagine she is making much of it up. What would be the payoff?
She is waaaay out on a limb. - Beowulf2112, on 01/21/2008, -0/+2Did you know we gave the Iranians nuclear blueprints... well actually we got a defected Russian nuclear scientist to literally hand them the papers. Granted they were outdated
- michael4lsu, on 01/21/2008, -0/+2I remember reading about a claim that those nuclear secrets were actually intentionally full of errors for the purpose of leading Iran around in circles trying to build a bomb. I guess they wanted to encourage Iran to try to build a bomb so that they would have the justification to attack Iran today.
- 68024, on 01/21/2008, -0/+5What I (and presumably everyone) wants to know is, who is the corrupt government official?

- yellowcakewalk, on 01/21/2008, -0/+5The non-elected ones can be prosecuted immediately. Richard Perle, Douglas Feith, Brent Scowcroft, Marc Grossman, should be arrested and indicted immediately, and a trial date set.
- worldchange, on 01/21/2008, -0/+6visit Sibel Edmonds' States Secrets Privilege Gallery on her site @ Just A Citizen dot com. 18 pictures. Luke Ryland has put names with the faces on his blog @ letsibeledmondsspeak dot blogspot dot com The official within the State Department is Marc Grossman according to those who have followed her story.

- Deathfrogg, on 01/21/2008, -3/+9Ya know what, NOBODY CARES.
Nobody gives a damn. We haven't had an executive administration working for anyone but the weapons manufacturers, multinational banks and the Energy Companies since the mid 1940's. They work for Isreal, they work for Saudi Arabia, they work for China. They are working for anyone and everyone but Americans. They have totally sold us out in every way, shape and form possible. when are you idiots going to wake up and realize that we aren't living in the United States of America anymore? It hasn't existed for over 60 years now.
Quit whining and find a solution to take our nation back.
Seems to me the French had the right idea back in the day. Too bad nobody here has the balls.- Frnnkdlxx, on 01/21/2008, -1/+5We're voting Ron Paul in the face of insurmountable odds, slander, blackout, and occasional damnation. That's action.
- Deathfrogg, on 01/21/2008, -6/+1So you pick an openly racist and ultra-nationalist right wing fanatic over anyone else? He has no real chance of being elected, he's already established himself as a fanatic. The latest window dressing he wears is just a totally false image. He's exactly the wrong person for the job.
- poiuytrewq44, on 01/21/2008, -0/+1DK then?

- Frnnkdlxx, on 01/21/2008, -0/+9Let's not forget what the research of Antony Sutton revealed. The U.S purposefully built up the economy and war machines of pre ww1 and 2 germany and russia and we provided finance for the Bolshevik revolution. Afterwards he discovered that we were providing arms, technical, and weapons support to russia during the cold war all the way up to Vietnam. This is not science fiction or speculation. This is fact.
Therefore, upon learning of those revalations, any piece that comes out like this makes me suspicious. Remember George Bush's grandfather selling weapons to Germany while we were at war with them? Well why should we think this nation has changed?
Oh yeah... The conspiracy deepens... Unfortunately, we're talking about some really serious *****. Who cares about who they sold anything to. I want to know if or where they intend to use it!!!- Forcough, on 01/21/2008, -0/+2A good interview with Antony Sutton

You are getting sleepy.... - MarkEarhart, on 01/21/2008, -1/+3I think Sibel Edmonds should just spill the beans, and then retreat to the midst of an American militia for protection. I would certainly help guard her if she has valuable information that could convict top Bush Administration staff.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-dNjrVhc2U - Gat0rvean, on 01/21/2008, -1/+1Give me a break, of course they covered it up. How do you think the majority of the population would react if they knew nuclear-secrets had been stolen? It's bad press, and it makes the department look bad.
By covering it up, they create an avenue by which they can retrieve the stolen property through whatever means necessary.
This just in: A government agency was robbed of some in demand product and tries to get it back before the pencil pushers and desk jockey's notice...
Welcome to real life.......- avengingturnip, on 01/21/2008, -0/+3Are you kidding? Then why did they fire Edmonds in the first place if they were actually keen on investigating this? Why publicly out Valerie Plame while she was investigating the international black market for nuclear weapons? Why blow Brewster Jennings cover? Why did this information go no where in Congress? These people are traitors, Gat. They just don't want everyone to know about it.
- shig, on 01/21/2008, -0/+2Apparently "whatever means necessary" really means "no investigation whatsoever" to the FBI. It's not that they were pursuing a clandestine recovery effort. They were blocking any investigation into any of the perpetrators which included firing the agents that complained about other agents being active spies. If that's real life then I'm afraid we're in deep *****. Buy guns and keep them loaded.
