- GhostsAwake, on 01/09/2008, -5/+304Funny how the same company Diebold runs your ATM and can keep those numbers spot on, but when it comes to counting your votes they act like a 4 year old learning arithmetic.
- thejokell, on 01/09/2008, -10/+170Almost 700 diggs and not even on the upcoming list:
http://digg.com/2008_us_elections/New_Hampshire_Di ...
The head clerk of the New Hampshire township of Sutton has been forced to admit that Ron Paul received 31 votes yet when the final amount was transferred to a summary sheet and sent out to the media, the total was listed as zero. - betterth, on 01/09/2008, -6/+156Diggers need to stop assuming it's Ron Paul fans who are crying wolf. We understand that vote rigging did not change the fact that Ron Paul didn't win.
What we do understand is the much more realistic conclusion that Obama was denied just enough votes to give Hillary a win. While they both recieved the same amount of delegates, she still is awarded a "win" and it's a major boost to her campaign.
Not only does the GOP want Hillary as a contender because they feel she is the most beatable democrat, but she's also the most neoconservative of the democrats. Endless war? Check. Bought and paid for by several corporations (including health care and insurance providers. She backed out of universal care the first time, don't expect her second go-around to be any different).
We're bitching because our elections are handled by a private company using methods they won't release. There is no paper trail, no possibility of an audit, nothing. They can do what ever the ***** they want and the system is setup so that we can't know. Why is this not a bigger issue? - AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -7/+128It doesn't matter that Ron Paul didn't win, it's that the voting systems are ***** up yet again, that's what needs to be exposed.
- lostangelonline, on 01/09/2008, -10/+125don't be fooled people! the NH primaries were rigged! google it and find out yourself
- jabrjaw, on 01/09/2008, -4/+111The best way to expose tyrannical governments is to make them act tyrannical in the open.
- bean7898, on 01/09/2008, -11/+90New Hampshire restored my apathy.
- GhostyBoy, on 01/09/2008, -11/+89Will you blind ***** ***** please shut the ***** up about conspiracy theories. These corrupt politician/corporate ***** are ripping you off, lying to you, cheating you of your freedoms and wiping their ass with your constitution right and front of your face and you are sitting their going "la la la" pretending it's not ***** happening.
Why are there suddenly thousands and thousands and thousands of "conspiracy theorists" all over the world in every city? Because there are likely multiple blatant conspiracies that need to be investigated immediately. So let's cut the name calling and start seriously looking into this stuff. - inactive, on 01/09/2008, -10/+79This is mainstream news now. People know there was something wrong with the N.H. voting results. Why else do you think the diebold machines were used? Why else do you think there is NO oversight on the company that counts the votes? All you ***** that don't care or act like you don't care are gonna weep when the velvet glove is removed from the IRON FIST of this corrupted government run by puppets who trash the law and disrespect our Constitution. ***** you where you came from, you're not americans! You're not americans! This is a wake up call to you sleepy headed braindead.
- mazer23, on 01/09/2008, -4/+72FTA: "The cost of a hand re-count is estimated at $67,000. It is not known at this time whether the Paul or Obama campaigns will consider a re-count."
Obama will not request one because it would be bad for his image, but Paul has 20 million in cash right now, can anybody think of a better way to spend 67k? - Frnnkdlxx, on 01/10/2008, -6/+73It should be a given that Killary won when Obama was on FIRE! Also, in a state that's nearly 40% independent and Libertarian, Ron Paul only got 5th, even after major grassroots campaigning. How the hell does a Huckabee or a McCain win? Just accept it. We live in ***** Nigeria.
- mds40, on 01/09/2008, -7/+69is anyone actually surprised about this?
- soulkitchen, on 01/09/2008, -5/+66@GoatRoper (I'd reply to you but I suspect you'll get buried to oblivion)
So if what you say is right then a little scrutiny shouldn't matter. I realize that every vote ever cast will be called a sham now, but with the voting system set up as it is, why should people just trust? We have 2 options:
1) Put every vote cast in an election scored by Diebold et al under the microscope and have their totals checked against paper.
2) Allow independent verification of the method Diebold uses to count votes.
In case you've missed all the previous articles on the subject, the only thing these systems do consistently is be inconsistent. - bkrishnan, on 01/09/2008, -5/+58There is NOTHING more important in a democratic process than making sure that a citizen's vote counts. Why the hell to people still use these things?
- fractalman, on 01/09/2008, -2/+53And that's just one township. Death to the machines. Demand paper ballots, and demand to be present when the ballots are counted. Don't trust the machines to the future of America. You deserve better.
- blindhammer, on 01/09/2008, -3/+54I think some of you are missing the point. The issue affects Obama more than Ron Paul, if true. Indications are that Diebold machines are all +5% to Hillary over hand-counted ballots, across the board.
- signal15, on 01/10/2008, -2/+53Rest assured, Diebold ATM's have just as many security vulnerabilities as their voting machines. I worked with them for a couple of years, and it's pretty insane how poorly security is implemented on them. Banks and Diebold refrain from publicizing any "issues" that occur, but I was on a mailing list where at least one major alert would come through each week.
The engineer that I worked with at Diebold said he cringed every time he put his card in one. - GhostyBoy, on 01/09/2008, -5/+55I think New Hampshire should have their 1st in the nation primary status revoked. They aren't taking it seriously.
- doyoulikeworms, on 01/09/2008, -5/+53You cannot have a truly free society without fair ballots. That means abolish electronic voting unless it's open source, but preferably require paper ballots. There are several (successful) movements in European countries to abolish electronic voting. We need that here.
- mrASSMAN, on 01/10/2008, -6/+49I can't take this ***** any more.. how ***** hard is it to fix our ***** elections. This is the foundation of America and it's completely broken and corrupt. I can't take any voting results seriously any more. Hillary was behind by 13% and somehow came ahead by 3%, and in the most highly populated areas, she supposedly had almost double Obama's vote. This is despite all the exit-polls and opinion polls. It just doesn't make any sense. The same thing is going to happen this election that happened in 2000, 2004, and 2006 (yes there was tons of fraud you didn't hear about).
Will we ever have a fair election again? Will this keep happening indefinitely? Will the public remain ignorant of what's happening, do they even care? We continue to be attacked from within and I don't know much longer we can outlast this. - sinrtb, on 01/10/2008, -2/+38Why are we still using Diebold in this country?!
- cephelo, on 01/10/2008, -4/+39How did New Hampshire, land of "Live Free or Die," get roped into Diebold machines?
- Corrosionx, on 01/10/2008, -1/+36Diebold does exactly what the people who pay them ask for.
- betterth, on 01/09/2008, -9/+43Shhhh. It's okay.
Just mindlessly accept what your government tells you. It's okay, you've been trained to do it by your parents. By your schools, and by your society. Now run along be a good little subservient citizen. - vegask, on 01/10/2008, -4/+34I just watched this, makes me sad.
Hacking Democracy (HBO documentary) http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4463776866 ... - Nerys, on 01/10/2008, -2/+30well ron paul supporters DO have a point. 99% of the voting population decides who they are going to vote for based on who is pictured on that television set in front of them. How often do you hear ron paul mentioned ? I know on the day of the election I saw him exactly ZERO times. I did see the Fox News camera guy TWICE "move" the camera to exclude a ron paul sign in the left of his field of view. both times the moment the supporter put the sign in the camera's field of view he swung the camera immediately to put it back outside the field of view. Saw the same thing in Iowa.
Beat Mr 9/11 in iowa but excluded from the debate for NH ? and yoiu wonder why Mr 9/11 faired better ?? Your deluding yourself if you think there is NO manipulation on some level.
They go out of there way to NOT mention ron paul. I have seen graphs on television where all the "spots" are labeled even a spot for "other" but this one spot a grey white spot was mysteriously UNMARKED want to guess who's pie slot that was ?
Its not that his message is nutty (not sure how a FOLLOW the constitution message can be considered but whatever) its that they REFUSE to PERMIT his message to be heard by the general population. They "actively" ignore him Actively go out of there way to NEVER mention his name if possible. You say hey he is on now and then. I would say the ration of Ron Paul mentions to "other" political mentions is ORDERS of magnitude difference 1000 to 1 at the minimum.
Exposure is EVERYTHING. Your message is rendered mute if no one can hear it. There is a virtual media black out on ron paul because THEY WANT to exclude him. THEY WANT him to do poorly.
He is not doing poorly because he is not worthy therefore they are justified in not mentioning him they are intentionally not mentioning him so that he WILL do poorly to justify there not mentioning him. It amazes me how WELL he does "in spite of" this intentional concentrated attack on him. They even went so far as to post scathing letters to newspapers on a touchy issue that is know to be factually false. BUT it does not matter if its right or wrong. People read it many will accept it The damage is done even though it was 100% untrue.
Note Ron Paul apparently received the smallest hit. The Damage may have been enough to upset an Obama Victory and turned it into a Hillary Victory. May have also done the same with Romney. Note the two major benefactors of this "mistake" appear to be the two corporate shills Hillary and Romney. Go Figure. - cephelo, on 01/10/2008, -2/+30Hillary needs to front it. If she is so certain of her victory, it would bode her image well to confront potential issues head-on. If Paul or any other candidate pursues a recount and Hillary chalks up a loss, everything she said post-winning will come back to bite her. Hard.
She should help support the democratic process by fronting the money to New Hampshire if she truly believes in the process that she believes elected her. - Nerys, on 01/10/2008, -1/+29youi miss the point though. How often do you hear the banks saying hey we had to correct diebold's numbers again.
- rpi22, on 01/09/2008, -8/+35Recount!
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -9/+35This isn't about Ron Paul.
- orangefly, on 01/09/2008, -0/+24and getting stuck in a loop....
- Tenlow, on 01/09/2008, -1/+23So what happens to all these new "conspiracy theorists" when the theories are proven true? Do we all become "conspiracists"?
- mizati, on 01/10/2008, -5/+27I would say i agree with you, but I just dont care anymore.
- StrangeGuy808, on 01/09/2008, -1/+23From the looks of your grammar and spelling, I'd say you're "like 15 or 16 years old" as well.
- Birdoftruth, on 01/10/2008, -0/+22it doesn't matter in NH because you can vote either way in the primary.
- nonsequitor, on 01/09/2008, -2/+22Dugg down for shouting
- BadseedJR, on 01/10/2008, -1/+21Why the ***** is everyone who thinks politicians rigged something or some political scam is going on automatically a Ron Paul supporter in Diggers minds? People can suspect the government of fraud WITHOUT supporting Ron Paul you jackass.
- nonsequitor, on 01/09/2008, -12/+32Dugg down for shouting and being condescending, jackass.
- betterth, on 01/10/2008, -3/+22Quaint. I see what you did, you called me insane in a feeble attempt to discredit what I said. My response is simply, "Fail".
First off, the fact that people in our society are bred for subservience to higher authority is no stretch of the imagination. The entire concept of religion is based around the notion of forming a society who give absolute deference to a higher power. Use your brain and realize these things, please.
Second off, you're telling us to shut the ***** up and just trust our government to handle everything a-okay. I don't think I need to provide a list of times in the past 8 years our government has been blatantly dishonest to the vast detriment of this country. It's hundreds of times, by the way. And that's just the ones we know about. And those are just the ones that got publicized.
So please, wake up and realize what's going on. The only thing insane is blindly believing what you're hearing without first thinking about it, analyzing it, and even attempting to understand it. - Corrosionx, on 01/10/2008, -9/+28They screwed up Obama too, so this isn't just about Ron Paul.
Wake the ***** up this is a military operation against you. - Chaotix, on 01/09/2008, -3/+22I'm wondering if anyone has links to a mainstream media source carrying this story?
- MWeather, on 01/10/2008, -1/+19Yes. They wouldn't be using Diebold machines anymore.
- nazgulnarsil, on 01/10/2008, -6/+24It is against federal and state law to look inside a diebold voting machine and examine the software.
It is against the law to find out how your vote is being counted.
luckily I can obtain Italian citizenship by marrying my girlfriend If I need to. I hope the rest of you people who care about freedom also have an out for when this country becomes a police state. - lucutus, on 01/10/2008, -2/+20There is a group of people who exsist only to burry any story with ron paul in it. Bury Brigade President & CEO (canewediggit) http://digg.com/users/canewediggit/friends/view
- wiremonkeymommy, on 01/09/2008, -1/+19no, but I was surprised at the complete lack of subtlety, vote rigging is supposed to be a pickpocketer's art, not a liquor store hold-up, sheesh
- blindhammer, on 01/09/2008, -0/+17I don't understand people that think that not voting is a jab at the system. Go vote and write in a third-party candidate. Write yourself in. Do something other than sitting at home on election day and complaining about how everything is rigged.
Perhaps the system is rigged. But voting is really the only mechanism that most people have to affect the political process (if possible). - mizati, on 01/09/2008, -0/+16Conspiracy factist?
- purag66, on 05/13/2009, -1/+17This whole damned country is rigged. We're *****.
- Groovemaster, on 01/10/2008, -0/+16The Iraq war. The Bush administration conspired to deceive the American public into supporting an illegal invasion by convincing them there were WMDs when they knew full well there were none.
The leaked Downing Street memos revealed that the intel leading up to the war was "fixed around the policy".
People theorized that there had been a conspiracy, and it turned out they were right. Any time two or more people conspire to commit a crime, it's a conspiracy.
Deprogram yourself now or live a life of pitiful servitude to a corrupt, greed-driven government. - MaximusD, on 01/10/2008, -0/+16Live free or Diebold
