- enki25, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20I don't think anybody cares he's gay, it's more that he's a child molester.
- UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13I'm more interested in the GOP cover-up but I do hope Foley gets to taste the brunt of the child abuse related legislation he helped put in to law.
- jasoneisen, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7I hope they come up with something better than an alcohol addiction.
- SelfAbortion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5If I could dig you one down for referencing ICP and one up for making an accurate point, I would.
HEY LOOK PEOPLE THERE'S GAY MARRIAGE OVER HERE *pointing* - yasth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It is more accurate to say he harassed his pages, which since he was in a position of authority, power, and respect is unconscionable. It would be just the same as if a 50 year old high school cheerleader coach tried to get it on with his 16 year old male cheerleaders. (well technically only called them hot studs he would drive miles for)
- enki25, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7@killinger
yeah, Bush might pardon this pervert, but I don't know why you think Clinton pardoned Mel Reynolds, looks like Reynolds served his entire sentence...
let's just be happy for all of the pages out there that this predator the GOP was trying to protect was finally caught. Hastert's cover up could have lasted a lot longer - micktissue, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6From wikipedai - "After serving 42 months of his 78 month sentence, U.S. President Bill Clinton commuted his sentence and Reynolds served the balance in a half way house. Mel Reynolds served his entire sentence on the original charges."
Just to complete the thought by the guy who doesn't want Foley "pardoned". Clinton commuted the guy's sentance to a half-way house, so it's not like the guy just walked away. Just putting down the whole story ... - Kappa3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I say this with sarcasm... blaming the dems is preposterous
- tastycheese, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I can't wait for Dateline to do that show in Washington DC, and just see who shows up! Comedy GOLD!!!
- Obvioustroll, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@yasth
Yes - I think that's exactly right. And I think he should be punished for it. But the people who are screaming "pedophile" and "child molester" are doing disservice to the victims of real molesters. - donkeyking, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7You do realize that what he did was not against the law right? The legal age of consent is 16. Now I don't deny he is a sick SOB but he didn't do anything against the law and I also took an unbiased view and it sure seems to me that the kid was sure into it himself and seemed to go along with everything pretty well.
(3) "Child" means a person who has not yet attained the age of 16 years.
§ 22-4108. First degree child sexual abuse.
Whoever, being at least 4 years older than a child, engages in a sexual act with that child or causes that child to engage in a sexual act shall be imprisoned for any term of years or for life and, in addition, may be fined an amount not to exceed $250,000. (May 23, 1995, D.C. Law 10-257, § 207, 42 DCR 53.)
§ 22-4109. Second degree child sexual abuse.
Whoever, being at least 4 years older than a child, engages in sexual contact with that child or causes that child to engage in sexual contact shall be imprisoned for not more than 10 years and, in addition, may be fined in an amount not to exceed
$100,000. (May 23, 1995, D.C. Law 10-257, § 208, 42 DCR 53.) - Pharaoh777, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4"We're dealing with a two party system, do you have a better idea?"
Yes, but they involve ending the current system. Why support a system that has failed? - glaive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7Did you just try to prove a point by referencing Insane Clown Posse? YHL.
- Gerz1219, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Also, it appears that Clinton really just gave him a pass for all the corporate white collar crime. Such cronyism is politics as usual. Had Clinton pardoned him for statuatory rape, that would be different.
- Dipsomaniac, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3@analyze:
Yes, because being even slightly outraged that a sexual predator had his 'activities' covered up by others in the GOP is being 'hate-filled'. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4If To Catch a Predator has taught us anything, it is that he wasn't planning on doing anything once he showed up in person. He just went to explain to the kid why what he was doing was dangerous.
- UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3"It talks about how people make a huge deal out of scandals dealing with people hi high places (celebrities, politicians, etc) while things that are far worse are going on."
Here's the thing, we can talk and talk and talk about how bogus the occupation in Iraq is and how the war on terror isn't working but we can't really do ***** about it. In this case if some vigilant people do some investigatiing on this coverup we can topple the Republicans and start to fix what they have done wrong. It's the sick truth, unfortunately. - Kappa3, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5who the hell listens to the insane clown posse?
- candiru, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Okay, obvioustroll.
- PotVsKtl, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3That's one way to interpret it if you generally believe that "left wingers" are howling angry hyenas.
Or, perhaps you could interpret it as interest in a continually evolving story. Or a desire to see justice be done. Or, politically, the sign of an opportunity to take control of a Congress that "left wingers" feel is doing great harm to the ideals of this nation. So, you know, patriotism.
But no, it's probably just frothing-at-the-mouth incoherent lunatic hippies. Right? - UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3We're dealing with a two party system, do you have a better idea? If one party ***** up as much as the GOP has recently you get them the hell out of there. If Democrats do worse it will be a short 2 years.
- PotVsKtl, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Yeah or we could stick with the gang we already know is ***** us up. Wow, great idea. When I'm being stabbed in the face I try to stand still and take it in case I step on some glass moving out of the way.
- geronimo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Meanwhile analyze made sure to jump on the bash-clinton boat:

Suck it up. - Obvioustroll, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1If you only had proof that the GOP covered it up, or that any actual molestation or abuse had occurred, I'd agree with you.
Until then, you're just another member of the lynch mob. - donkeyking, on 10/12/2007, -4/+43) "Child" means a person who has not yet attained the age of 16 years.

- cephpod, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Quote from an article on Fox News:
"Meanwhile, Florida newspapers — who were leaked copies of the e-mail with the Louisiana boy last year — defended their decision not to run stories. Both The St. Petersburg Times and The Miami Herald were given copies of the e-mail, as were other news organizations, including Fox News.
"Our decision at the time was ... that because the language was not sexually explicit and was subject to interpretation, from innocuous to 'sick,' as the page characterized it, to be cautious," said Tom Fiedler, executive editor of the Herald. "Given the potentially devastating impact that a false suggestion of pedophilia could have on anyone, not to mention a congressman known to be gay, and lacking any corroborating information, we chose not to do a story."
The press knew about it for nearly a year... but decided to drop it a few weeks before election day... hmm. - Lane, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2He says he has checked into a rehabilitation facility to deal with alcohol and behavioral issues.
What a Joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
theres no rehabilitation for a man is his 50's who wants sexual contact with what could very well be A GRANDSON - Pharaoh777, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3If I see one more article about this I am going to gouge my eyes out!
Seriously, this isn't that big of news. Have any of you heard the song "Terrible" by the Insane Clown Posse? It talks about how people make a huge deal out of scandals dealing with people hi high places (celebrities, politicians, etc) while things that are far worse are going on. This has been known about for a year according to some sources. Is it that hard to believe that it's just finally coming out to the media to take away from the fact that it's now legal to torture people?
I'm not usually one for conspiracies, but this should not be this big in the news. Over 20 articles have made it to the front page about one senator that sent emails to young boys. How is this more important than the fact we can torture people? Or that we're in a failing war on terror? Or even the old news that the war on drugs was lost forever ago? Instead of filtering the media, you can just spam it so well with a scandal that people let the important things slip by.
Seriously, enough it enough. - Obvioustroll, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Don't you love being dugg down for pointing out the truth?
- Kappa3, on 10/12/2007, -9/+7the only logical explanation, the democrats forced him into it
- DeadDragon, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4"What is more interesting are the packs of Democratic hyenas constantly posting Foley articles to feed their hungry hate-filled hearts for more and more rage. That, my friend, says volumes about the left wingers on Digg."
That's not interesting ,that's a typical day at Digg. So left leaning it walks funny. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5Look, Foley's situation is indefensible. He brought it on himself and must now experience the consequences of his actions.

http://one.revver.com/watch/71754/ - cephpod, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2You know, everyone is talking about the GOP coverup... What about the dems or the news organiaztion that held on to these emails until the election came around? They held this card close so they could play it at the right time... In the mean time, they were leaving kids at risk all for their political gain.
That's just as ugly... - killinger777, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5Well hopefully Bush doesn't pardon him like Clinton pardoned Mel Reynolds, who had sex with a 16 year old campaign volunteer.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mel_Reynolds - Pharaoh777, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Yeah, then the Democrats can ***** us up instead of the Republicans. Wow, great idea!
- Obvioustroll, on 10/12/2007, -13/+6Except that, of course, 16 years old doesn't qualify as "child molestation" and there's no evidence he laid a hand on anyone.
Oh, and except that the last time this happened it was a Democratic congressman who had sex with a male page, then loudly refused to resign and was re-elected several times afterwards.

What is Digg?
