- Talphin, on 09/05/2008, -41/+868It is like a hammer in my head every time I hear McCain say some ***** like "I want to get our troops out of Iraq too! The difference is, I am going to win!"...
Win what you ***** dunce?! - kevxross, on 09/05/2008, -30/+791It was awesome to see that during McCain's speech. You say they cut away very quickly, but I was actually surprised how much screen time he got. I was watching CSPAN and they showed him at least 3 times. It showed him again with the other side of his sign which said "McCain Votes Against Vets" and again after his sign was stolen just holding 2 peace signs in the air.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think all the networks, as well as whatever screens they have at the actual convention, all use the same cameras. I switched to MSNBC and it was showing him too, and the image I submitted at the same time as you was from CNN. You could tell people in the audience were reacting to him too.
By the way, this is Adam Kokesh, an Iraq Veteran and very outspoken protester (he also spoke at Ron Paul's Rally for The Republic). Not long after this, some Code Pink ladies were dragged out as well and McCain called them "ground noise and static." This is the first time I've found a McCain speech interesting. - matrim2217, on 09/05/2008, -13/+387Kudos to a brave American that will walk into the lion's den and give them the finger.
- NKDN8, on 09/05/2008, -17/+325Where can I get a You Can't Win an Occupation t-shirt?
- bigcynic, on 09/05/2008, -12/+281Here's how they detected this guy in the crowd: An OCR-equipped camera was scanning all the signs in the stadium for misspellings. His didn't have any.
- pintomp3, on 09/05/2008, -10/+208dugg for an actual tube television.
- FredFredrickson, on 09/05/2008, -13/+179I thought we already won... I mean, wasn't that what the 'Mission Accomplished' sign was all about?
- vladsmiljanic, on 09/05/2008, -19/+180What I didn't like about his speech was that forced smile he gave...unless that's his real smile...which would be odd..
- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -16/+140That man deserves a ***** medal
- FredFredrickson, on 09/05/2008, -10/+130Pulling out of a war with no goal and keeping your army from being senselessly killed means you've lost, of course. I mean, look at what we did with Vietnam. We stuck it out, and we won. Right?
- nmcvicke, on 09/05/2008, -2/+121I just wanted to confirm your suspicions, all news outlets use one pool video for both the conventions which is actually paid for by the conventions themselves and is cut live by them and fed to the stations who have no control over the switching. Which is why it was incredibly surprising for us at my news station when they showed the protesters.
- GregFD3S, on 09/05/2008, -12/+124His name is Adam Kokesh and he has a website
http://kokesh.blogspot.com/ - swrostmore, on 09/05/2008, -4/+104Amusing postscript to the story, circulating on liberal blogs today -
"The McCain campaign's decision to play the classic rock song "Barracuda" at their convention last night, in honor of Sarah Palin's nickname in high school, has earned them a cease and desist letter from the band Heart, who strongly object to McCain's politics." - JoJoMoMo, on 09/05/2008, -11/+105Video of the protester during McCain's speech:

Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) is open to anybody who has served in the military (Active Duty, National Guard, and Reservists) since September 11th, 2001. Military members who are currently serving can be guaranteed confidentiality.
http://ivaw.org/membership - inactive, on 09/05/2008, -13/+93They showed this guy three times, that I saw.
did anyone else catch the closing song while the balloons fell? Heart, doing Barracuda?!?!? Talk about a WTF moment... - jpaese, on 09/05/2008, -19/+96There has just been too much talk about war from the Republicans, and I find it puzzling considering the country's current mood on the topic. Why would you run on the fear card with so many Americans so tired of it and so tired of us killing people in the name of "freedom"? It just makes no sense. I wish he would have spent more time talking in more detail about his actual plan to fix the country. His efforts to distance himself from Bush felt disingenuous and a bit like pandering to Bush's 30% approval rating.
I sincerely wanted to give him a shot, as I was seriously considering him in 2000, had he won the primary. But his choice for VP felt to me like nothing more than a shallow attempt to win at all costs. It shows me that he makes short-term decisions with disregard for long-term consequences.
I was pretty surprised that so many dissenters made it into such a tightly controlled convention. Especially since the crowd was so much smaller than the DNC. You'd think they'd be able to spot someone who already had some national exposure as someone against their agenda. - BadseedJR, on 09/05/2008, -12/+79I also happened to see a guy there holding a sign that said "McCain votes against vets." It brought joy to my soul.
- nopRT, on 09/05/2008, -12/+75McCain: "I support the troops. ...well, not that troop...or others like him...or any who need medical attention and aren't rich...or any who should be home, but are kept through the stoploss program...or those who need more equipment. Ah, screw it, I support all the troops that are on this stage right now. Suck it, troops."
- mattluiz, on 08/28/2009, -8/+69Dugg for dunce.
- ZenKai, on 09/05/2008, -7/+62Why are you digging me down? LOOK:

TELL me that's not clear to you? - rootsm3, on 09/05/2008, -6/+60He has brass ones to place himself out there in a room where few if any are on his side.
I'm shocked by how many people actually are buying what this raisin is selling. - TheNik, on 09/05/2008, -0/+51This is why I love Digg - sometimes the commentators are useful people that provide new information, like this guy.
- Tommy2Tone, on 09/05/2008, -7/+58One of my most enjoyable aspects of this week has been the empty chairs, boos, and forcible escorts out of the RNC. Truly a sad state of affairs that has turned out to be. LOLZ!
- NCg8r, on 09/05/2008, -4/+54Good thing you're just another dink with a keyboard and a tiny c0ck...
- ironhide, on 09/05/2008, -0/+48How are you going to win a war against a religion? Gonna have a Crusade? Kill everyone who doesn't agree with you?
- aforsberg, on 09/05/2008, -7/+55He (McCain) smiles just like Cheney.
*shudder* - BaudiIROCZ, on 09/05/2008, -3/+49He's a US Marine and an Iraq War Veteran, you piece of *****.
- john2kx, on 09/05/2008, -0/+45good luck with that.
- bicyclethief, on 09/05/2008, -4/+47What does this have to do with Barack Obama?
He's not mentioned in the title, description, or in the picture, either in name or person. - inactive, on 09/05/2008, -0/+43And I thought it was cause he didn't have a cowboy/elephant/alligator/condom hat on his head.
- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -8/+48I think it's pretty clear that the Republicans are now reaping what they have sown for 8 years. Republican leadership has shown a clear pattern of "ignoring the static" ...... problem is that they consider any ideas not in lock-step with them as static.
Well the static has clearly become too loud to ignore. Funniest part is watching them try to act like they still can ignore it. An elephant in every room! - pintomp3, on 09/05/2008, -3/+43Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America - John McCain rating: D; versus Obama's B+ http://www.iava.org/full-ratings-list
- heysuburbia, on 09/05/2008, -3/+42skinhead hippie, huh?
You my friend are a dumbass.
First of all, those two words together are essentially an oxymoron "skinhead" "hippie".
Second, he's A WAR VETERAN, so I think he has a little bit more perspective than you on the subject about vets. - swrostmore, on 09/05/2008, -1/+39Palin's college (high school?) basketball nickname was "Sarah Barracuda" because of her aggressive style of play.
I believe this fact was revealed in her RNC intro video, or else in Alaskan media somewhere. Still makes no ***** sense to play it after McCain's keynote, anyway. - enki25, on 09/05/2008, -3/+39You are advocating the death of your fellow Americans because of their political views. Thank you for proving that the Republican party has become the Nazi party. It's a good thing you trailer trash retards can't possibly win this election.
- elmuhfuh, on 09/05/2008, -1/+36i dont support the war. those people chanting USA to a kid who obviously cared more about the USA than they did deeply offended me. damn near brought me to tears realizing that this guy was over there and knows first hand why he should be holding this sign.
to all those people, if you really support the war and those soldiers, you wont mock one of those soldiers when he decided to hold up a sign protesting said war. - h3lx, on 09/05/2008, -0/+32Here's some free separations. I retain no ownership to this art. This is a formal release. Anyone can use it for whatever they want. If you make a million bucks off of it more power to you.

I'll probably run some personals on this next week, doubt they'll ever be for sale. I ***** love the slogan. - ElBeh, on 09/05/2008, -0/+32http://www.theonion.com/content/news_briefs/mccain ...
- debauch, on 09/05/2008, -1/+32you're talking about killing someone who has risked their life serving our country. what the ***** have you done from behind your keyboard? you're pathetic.
- twiztidsinz, on 09/05/2008, -0/+31This is what Fox does to you...
- vkiperman, on 09/05/2008, -5/+35On CNN there was also a second sign. Something about "McCain votes against vets." Totally !@#$% awesome!!! DUGG!
- VicHislop, on 09/05/2008, -5/+33Obama? I guess you haven't been paying attention, but this guy was in town for Ron Paul and is voting for Bob Barr.
- ismschisms, on 09/05/2008, -2/+30All you douches better vote.
- Lathen, on 09/05/2008, -3/+31Which is why you'll never be admitted into the Secret Service.
- MattFromSeattle, on 09/05/2008, -7/+34Why is it that anyone who wants peace is labeled a liberal hippie? Clearly the old ways of waging war and 'conquering' enemies isn't working, it's been failing since Vietnam. I'm not saying we become a pacifist nation who doesn't defend ourselves from enemy forces, but there's a difference between defending and waging war on the world. There was a time the U.S. used diplomacy to attempt to settle differences, reserving war as a last resort. We've become a nation that jumps to war at the first opportunity rather than using diplomacy and we will pay for it in the long run, every country that uses military force as its only approach does.
As the great Elvis Costello said, 'What's so funny 'bout peace, love, and uderstanding?' - mattgee725, on 09/05/2008, -2/+29Did anyone else find it ironic that he called one man's protest "static" while the entire crowd blindly chanted "USA"?
- GregFD3S, on 09/05/2008, -1/+28Lurn to speak English morans.
http://gawker.com/assets/images/gawker/2008/05/eng ... - nopRT, on 09/05/2008, -0/+27Is "***** RON PAUL" a valid political point that Dr. Paul has refused to address?
- ZenKai, on 09/05/2008, -4/+30I simply can't help but think of Solomon Grundy from the old Justice League cartoons whenever I see McCain. I suspect I'm the only one, but tell me now that I've brought it up you can't see what I mean.
