- tmcgonagle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It is about time someone called this pompous Dobson on his so called expertise in matters pertaining to family. He has always put forth his own agenda at the expense of accuracy or empirical data. Time Magazine should indeed give him the door.
- jeft2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Focus on the Family is a grand group of those politically organized to shove their religious views down the rest of our throats. In addition to "Keep Your Laws Off My Body" I'd like to add "Keep Your Nasty God Out of My Life" (after all I have a perfectly nice one that isn't more concerned with who I am than with what I do in bed). Dobson's hypocrisy is legendary....right up their with the Concerned Women for America, that bigoted racist group of hateful hags. Just once I'd love to hear Dobson focus on spousal abuse, the foster system, alcoholism as a threat to the family, the need to for two parent workers, the hunt OT end the middle class, economic disenfranchisement..... I mean let's face it...more marriages and families end because of those things than end in 'gay-ness' (unless your an Evangelical preacher).
And as for Time....nice checking gang.....but then, accuracy isn't nearly so important as circulation and pandering right? - greyNOTgray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If Dobson is so lacking in reading comprehension skills as to distort Dr. Gilligan's work, doesn't that call into question but his ability to understand the bible? Doesn't his admitted penchant for abusing the family dog show how little he truly loves God's creation.
But I am glad to see that Time.com also linked to a "Counterpoint" article by Jennifer Chrisler, who's very blunt when she states that Dobson is "simply lying." It's definitely worth a read: http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1569797,00.html- tjmoore2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thanks for the link.

You have allowed James Dobson to distort the facts and misquote Carol Gilligan in an article in your magazine.
Does anyone at Time do any fact checking or follow up?
If this is what you consider good journalism you can cancel my subscription and stop sending your magazine to my home.
After all, if I wanted to read unreliable trash, I can pick up something in the line at the grocery store.
At least they don't pretend to be a real news magazine.
