- GhostyBoy, on 08/28/2008, -9/+353She's actually kind of brave to take on digg questions. Seriously, we are pretty much a bunch of total loudmouth *****.
She talks a good game about the Bush administration, but she is one of the primary people protecting him. She seems like such a nice lady, why the ***** is she robbing the people of their right to impeach?!? - rpi22, on 08/28/2008, -19/+249i love how CNN tries to claim digg users are iReporters... ***** CORPORATE MEDIA!
And i love how pelosi speaks to the computer screen after the video is played, like the guy can actually see her... - inactive, on 08/28/2008, -8/+160The second question was a good one but she shifted the blame to "W" when it is she as speaker who brings bills to the floor of the House and it is she who increased the defict..
On the third question she was the one who decided to pass the Justice department bill from last year so the Hinchey - Rohrabacher amendment could not be introduced. As speaker she controls what comes up for a vote. She could stop allowing the funding bills from being introduced but instead she has chosen to be a follower and whining about the result of her lack of integrity.
She yaks about "raising the minimum wage" but inflation and the loss of the value of our dollar left people on minimum wage worse off. She blathers about the "war in Iraq" but she doesn't realize she alone could bring the Constitutional question to the floor.
She claims the Dept. of Treasury should review Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac even though there's no expectation that Treasury will change anything.
I stopped listening to her excuses because she didn't have anything of substance to say.
She will be irrelevant in the next Congress because she will lose her seat in the November election. - BugsSport, on 08/28/2008, -2/+114Could they mix the audio a little worse?
- danielrh9, on 08/28/2008, -5/+111This is specifically directed to Jay and the rest of the Digg crew:
I thank you very much for asking my question, but it was was totally decontextualized. I had prefaced it with opinion on the unwillingness of the current Democratic congress to negate the controversial actions of the previous Republican congress, but this context was lost when only the last section of my question was asked. Why ask it at all?
I’d have totally understood taking out the Jon Stewart line, but it would have only taken around ten seconds more to present the entire argument I’d presented. Giving her that sort of open ended question without that preface gave her the opportunity to take up nearly half of the allotted time with useless and ambiguous rhetoric. I honestly feel guilty now having asked the question, but I have to remind myself that it isn’t fully my fault since my whole question wasn’t presented.
I wrote a little more extensively about the Dialogg here: http://digg.com/tech_news/Digg_Dialogg_Great_Conce ...
I don't care if anyone diggs it or not, but I'd appreciate it if it were at least read by the Digg crew. - notque, on 08/28/2008, -5/+881. Her response on Net Neutrality was sufficient. She avoided calling them corporations, and instead called them "gatekeepers."
2. Her response to the question on liberty she responded "Yes" when there were many questions. She then focuses on one question, and then talks in generalities. This was an avoidance.
3. She says there's not enough support for it. The word she omitted is "political support." although she discusses it a bit. Corporate lobbyists don't want it, and she says that without saying it. Reasonable response, as politicians go. Unreasonable in general.
4. She denies the claim that her husband has millions invested in AT&T. Anyone find any real evidence on this? We need real citations on this issue, and not just a comment. Otherwise, her response is fine.
5. A softball question, might as well just say it's reasonable since it's just a chance for her to talk about anything she wants instead of answer the real question. The comment needed more substance, can't blame her. - Derfy, on 08/28/2008, -9/+77"This CNN.com feature is optimized for Adobe Flash Player version 9 or higher.
You are currently using Flash Player 10."
Ghey. :( - SethEllis, on 08/28/2008, -10/+71Sounds like a whole bunch of more excuses and rolling over by the speaker. I've heard all these talking points before.
- chrissku, on 08/28/2008, -0/+52Hey Mav9999 Nancy Pelosi laughed at your name. That's just ***** up.
- jayadelson, on 08/28/2008, -1/+53It has been read by the Digg crew. I'm sorry about that... We debated fiercely over whether or not to edit it down, and we ended up with much shorter time than we had planned originally.
Please accept my apologies, I didn't want to misconstrue your question. - lostsymphonies1, on 08/28/2008, -1/+45I don't think there is enough background noise in the video.
- bgrah449, on 08/28/2008, -12/+54She hardly ever looks him in the eye. She answers the questions facing some random direction, not at the camera, nor at him. It looks like she's uncomfortable - I don't think she likes being this close to the concerns of the real electorate. She'd much prefer the media-filtered polite questions with easy answers.
- jayadelson, on 08/28/2008, -0/+39Well thanks for being honest.
I guess on the brighter side, I'm not claiming to have much talent in this regard. I had fun though, and it was an incredible honor.
One thing I'd like to see in the future, honestly, is that you don't have to be a talented reporter to get to ask questions to important figures... Hopefully it was effective enough. - mark076h, on 08/28/2008, -2/+38I'm glad Jay and digg asked her the questions that actually received the most diggs, whether they were ***** questions or not they were all important and legit, the best one was when she was asked about her husband having millions invested in AT&T I'm sure she just loved that and never been asked a question like that before from the media, especially live lol.
- ryanonfire, on 08/28/2008, -9/+44wtf is that chick doing with the tripod, filming his back?
- notque, on 08/28/2008, -2/+35Democracy Now reported this week that Nancy Pelosi was giving a speech on public property, and police were used to remove them from public property, calling it private property, and telling them they had to stand on the corner down the street. Why didn't she stop the police if she supports the constitution as she said during the Digg interview?
http://www.democracynow.org/2008/8/26/as_democrati ... - Kamacurus, on 08/28/2008, -13/+43I liked her better when she was doing tales from the crypt
- iSeven, on 08/28/2008, -1/+28as big of a network that CNN is, did they care not to do a sound check before hand? I mean comon! Digg might be a "small" website to you guys, but our questions are serious. ugh.
edit: ugh... at some sort of applebees too? -_-;;
....now to finish watching it..... - wvaughan, on 08/28/2008, -6/+33It's amazing how you can ask a politician a straightforward question and get a totally canned ***** answer.
- danielrh9, on 08/28/2008, -0/+26Thanks a bunch, Jay.
I will be the first to admit that it was verging on rambling, but it was also essential to my question. To be honest, I'd have preferred my question to have been skipped so that tougher questions could have been asked. But please understand that I totally appreciate the oppurtunity to ask the questions and appreciate the fact that you actually asked the tough ones even more. Like I said in my post, I think the format needs some tweaking, but you guys are really on to something cool. Keep up the great work! - chrissku, on 08/28/2008, -5/+30Nancy Pelosi thank you for trying to legalize marijuana. Now all I ask is that you try harder. Please.
- GhostyBoy, on 08/28/2008, -1/+24The difference a matter of choice.
You are not brave for something you are forced to do by default, bravery is making a decision to do something you could avoid and facing it.
For those people it is tough, but that doesn't make them brave. For her it is easy, but she didn't have to talk to us. - ryborg, on 08/28/2008, -8/+31Wow. AMAZING VIDEO. I cannot believe the candor of both the questions and Nancy Pelosi!

- inactive, on 08/28/2008, -4/+24I am a Ron Paul supporter and I hope Cindy Sheehan beats the sh!t out of this corrupt bureacrat.
- CCB0x45, on 08/28/2008, -1/+20I am pretty sure they call them iReporters because of the website, iReporter, where people can post their thoughts or reviews or questions or some *****(I havnt actually looked at it) but it seems like the whole Digg Dialogue thing is in cahoots with iReporter.com because they said you could post video questions on there.
Edit: and it is kinda funny how she talks back to him, maybe she uses iChat video chat and thought it was the same thing. - cheese06, on 08/28/2008, -12/+30I saw the worst thing ever: Pelosi in HD
- retrospects, on 08/28/2008, -1/+19WE'LL DO IT LIVE!
- CCB0x45, on 08/28/2008, -3/+21I am pretty sure she is reading the screen to read the questions.
- danielrh9, on 08/28/2008, -9/+27On another point...
We love you Jay, but you really don't have much talent when it comes to being in front of the camera. Can Kevin, Alex, or even Martin do the interviewing next time? - GhostyBoy, on 08/28/2008, -0/+17He did fine.
- Psamtik, on 08/28/2008, -1/+18I was so relieved about 10 seconds into her talking. She may not get the technical side of it but she understands it qualitatively.
- joeyjoejoe99, on 08/28/2008, -0/+15Yeah, i really dont see how this was a bad interview. Do you want Kevin or Alex to start ranting about something unrelated? When it comes to Interviewing for Digg users, we dont need someone to add in their opinion.
Jay, I didnt even know you were CEO (I'm not a power user, but read the site everyday), but you did great. All i would suggest is make sure that you already have more schedueled. It couldnt have taken long to pick 8 or so questions from digg (and if it did, did it really need to?). Awesome work. - jsdratm, on 08/28/2008, -4/+18Speaker Pelosi, what is your position on loli?
- KingHarvest00, on 08/28/2008, -6/+20I thought she did a good job.
- WaterMedia, on 08/28/2008, -4/+18Two of my questions were voted into the top ten, but neither were answered. :(
"In 2001 you voted for the Patriot Act. In hindsight, do you regret this?" +302 Diggs
"You've called the Iraq war both "grotesque mistake" and "a failure". Since then Democrats approved the two largest bills continuing to fund this war. How can young Americans trust your party says when their actions and message don't match?" +298 Diggs - mellon, on 08/28/2008, -0/+14I kind of liked that someone with geek cred and geek personality was asking the Speaker questions. Way to go, dude!
- jayadelson, on 08/28/2008, -0/+13It was aired on TV.
- FizzanoMatrix, on 08/28/2008, -4/+17Don't ask questions, ask answers.
- dmbfan2007, on 08/28/2008, -1/+14"I stopped listening to her excuses because she didn't have anything of substance to say." - I couldn't agree more. She kept saying that we don't care about the process but the results. We definitely care about the process when you are achieving no results!
- kocurejd, on 08/28/2008, -0/+12Nancy Pelosi eats babies
- inactive, on 08/28/2008, -4/+16She is for Net Neutrality. Good enough for me. You go girl.
- mfc5200, on 08/28/2008, -6/+18Ok, this wasn't as good as I thought it would be. I'm sorry. It needs to be a pro-active live forum, where we can ask her questions, she responds, and then we can have a follow up question to call her out on her ***** (of which there was a lot).
Also, she is obviously too weak to be speaker of the house, this interview clearly confirmed that. She seems to not understand the powers that go along with her powers.
Way to ask tough questions though Digg. Bravo. This was much better than a standard CNN interview where you get questions like "What does it mean to you to be an American?" But it still could be a lot better. Great start though. - FireandFlame, on 08/28/2008, -0/+12because by impeaching Bush at this time, It would also bring to light the inadaqecies of the Her current job, and that the senate and house knew about the same things and were also partly responsible for Bush's Inadaqecies.
- inactive, on 08/28/2008, -3/+14A lot of people are hating on her for giving "talking points" and I completely agree that it's annoying to hear the same answer for every question but the truth is, George Bush vetos like a mad man. The congress really has tried to pass some meaningful laws to basically be laughed at by our president.
One point of controversy seems to be that they approved funding for the Iraq war. If they had blocked funding for the Iraq war, the war wouldn't end. We have been fighting hopelessly for years now. This is George Bush's legacy. He is not going to "give up" just because the congress blocked funding. If they blocked funding we would just have less resources and more dead troops on our hands.
It sucks that they haven't been able to accomplish much but I really don't think it's a fault of their intentions, I think it's the fault of the comedian we have running the country. - Barackalypse, on 08/28/2008, -4/+15Nancy is just like Obama on telcom immunity, she claims not to support it, but then votes for the FISA bill with it. That is why you don't want compromisers in office, they'll sell out any good positions they have in exchange for magic beans.
- moocow1452, on 08/28/2008, -1/+12Filming his back with a tripod, I presume?
- GhostyBoy, on 08/28/2008, -0/+10It sucks that questions had to be edited, as I'm sure lots of digg users would love to tear into politicians full throttle.
But on the other hand, way to go, dude. Seeing diggers mouthing off on CNN is pretty satisfying, like we internet folk are finally starting to break through. - agentem, on 08/29/2008, -0/+10She blames everyone but the House of Representatives. It's W's fault, it's the Senate's fault, but it's not my fault....
*****.
California Diggers, please vote this rubber chicken out of office. -
