- kevinrose, on 10/12/2007, -5/+99Hi All -- One of our site admins just notified me of this story.
Just to clarify and squash the conspiracy theory, the user that submitted this story (and their multiple accounts) was deleted due to spamming the site and racist comments. When we delete a user it removes all of their diggs, submissions, and comments.
Sorry for the trouble - feel free to re-submit the story (or the mirror if the duplicate check gets it).
Kevin - tekrat, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14Thanks Kevin,
Now I can put my tinfoil hat away. I will update the page I put together on this. - kevbryant, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5i've read countless stories about it, i am hesitant to think that anyone at digg actually has an agenda and wants to remove contraversial stories, to be honest, it sounds silly. but these keep happening and i see them, sooooo.
- dude199, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9woot ! tats some customer service , way to go kevin!!!
- jondus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Now we just wait a week for another conspiracy story to appear. People never learn and want "The Man" to be out to get them.
- kevbryant, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5yes i can totally see why someone would digg down that comment, it was totally inflamatory
- kevbryant, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4its not in buried
- tekrat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I would agree if it got buried as inaccurate, not just removed.
- tekrat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Excellent points, here are my counter points:
- The page that is linked above has screen captures of the article on both Digg and Dugg Mirror.
- The page also includes links to the original story on Digg which now produces errors.
- You can also, for the time being, still see the article on Dugg Mirror.
- I searched for the story on under buried and is not there. Here is a link to the search: http://tinyurl.com/2vsar2
As an FYI: I'm an independent, not Republican or a Democrat. - CaptainNoPants, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3watch out, well thought-out comments are like the plague here!
- kevbryant, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6well... I hate to buy into these digg conspiracy things, but you're right, i saw it and planned on reading it and then it was gone. i would like to hear the explanation. let's see if this story, too, gets removed.
- runningaround, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Digg is censoring (removing...NOT Burying) Mike Gravel articles :
http://www.digg.com/2008_us_elections/A_story_with_video_Mike_Gravel_deleted_from_digg_Why - Wooism, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Sound's like horse crap to me. When exactly did you see this approaching #1? I never saw it, I have been looking all day. Perhaps it was denoted as spam, innacurate, or otherwise buried? Have you searched for it in buried? We only have your work to go on.. that's not enough evidence.
- QueenBeeCassi, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4Same thing happened to me: http://queenbeemarketing.com/BuzzBlog/2007/02/20/does-digg-delete-stories/
It was a story about global warming... - FyreGoddess, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1It probably happened because the title was painfully inaccurate. It was a link to the PR statement from the company itself and the creator of the ad himself stated that he *resigned* from the company because he knew he broke his employment agreement and didn't want to implicate them.
The direct comments of the guy who made the ad hasn't made the front page yet and has twice as many diggs as the "He got fired" post got when it made the front page... is that a conspiracy as well... a dastardly plot to supress the Huffington Post?
It happens. Deal with it.
