- rawg, on 08/13/2008, -5/+17So McCain's foreign policy adviser received over $800K in lobbying fees from the government of Georgia over the past 4 years and then advises McCain that his foreign policy should be to support the government of Georgia.
Yup that seems pretty clear cut to me. - eKstreme, on 08/13/2008, -5/+16From the page:
"The McCain campaign responded saying, “Georgia’s lobbying contract with Orion Strategies had no bearing on the candidate’s decision to speak with President Mikheil Saakashvili and did not influence his statement,” they said. "
Of course note. No bearing at all. Nothing. - inactive, on 08/14/2008, -2/+10Lets not forget one of McCain's staffers used to lobby for the Burmese Military Junta
I can't wait till the day when reports of McCain's alleged ties to Dracula come to light - neognostic, on 08/13/2008, -1/+7No way! There is no history of McCain flip flopping on his position on any issue for money! From the Washington Post - "Campaign contributions from oil industry executives to Sen. John McCain rose dramatically in the last half of June, after the senator from Arizona made a high-profile split with environmentalists and reversed his opposition to the federal ban on offshore drilling.Oil and gas industry executives and employees donated $1.1 million to McCain last month -- three-quarters of which came after his June 16 speech calling for an end to the ban -- compared with $116,000 in March, $283,000 in April and $208,000 in May."
- inactive, on 08/14/2008, -1/+6Agreed, also, who the ***** is Maki to decide what should or shouldn't be on Digg?
Not trying to rag on the guy, but just because you're a power user doesn't mean you have any say in the website. - Acewrap, on 08/14/2008, -0/+2I don't.
- Sfenton, on 08/14/2008, -4/+6"Having said that, I definitely AGREE that huffpo summaries (with 'read more' links to the full story) like this should NOT be dugg up or perhaps even submitted to digg. Huffpo is just an intermediary in this case: their content is not original and the source site should be submitted instead. Huffpo doesn't deserve the traffic, diggs or a frontpage for just aggregating original content IMO. Its lame."
-MakiMaki
Replace Huffpo with Thinkpro, and you have yourself some hypocrisy for submitting this type of article Maki. - qdkk, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1ignorant tard

- inactive, on 08/14/2008, -0/+1I keep thinking the masses will wake up and stop buying into the ***** they are fed from corporate media and hollywood douchebags. The Libertarian Party totally ***** themselves over by nominating Barr and in turn gave up their opportunity to establish themselves with the average voter.
as for me I will fight socialism in my country until my death. - Weaselski, on 08/15/2008, -0/+1yes
- inactive, on 08/14/2008, -0/+1Hey, 800K is a smalll price to pay for WWIII.
- atact88, on 08/14/2008, -2/+3Where's Obama in all this? Silently keeping himself out as a non-player in world affairs. Typical.
- Kangalanatolian, on 08/14/2008, -0/+1The republican party has no moral authority anymore.
I would like to see them both Rs and Ds eclipsed by the Constitution and Libertarian parties, but in reality there are just too many socialists out there. - h4ckler, on 09/07/2008, -0/+1How many houses does McCain have again? Did his staffers ever tell us?
- inactive, on 08/14/2008, -1/+1I hope obama is elected pres. as a social experiment I already know the answer to: lefties will become looneys and republicans will become the saviors. history loves repeating itself.

12 Year Old Girl Tells the Truth on Fox News about Georgia. Fox News even had to cut them off right in the middle of the account of Georgian aggression even though they had just come from a commercial break 2 minutes prior to that. ***** Fox News and corporate media do not want the truth out.
http://digg.com/politics/Fox_News_12_Year_Old_Girl ...
Ossetian Woman: "I want you to know, to whom to blame in this conflict. It is Mr. Saakashvili who started this war, and Mr. Saakashvili who is aggressor, and my people were killed and bombed by him and over 2,000 people were killed in one day..."
Shepard Smith: "Uh, I would never cut you off but we have to go to commercial in 4 seconds..."
Ossetian Woman: "Yes I know, I know you don't want to hear that..." - inactive, on 08/14/2008, -2/+2 " Sen. John McCain’s top foreign policy adviser prepped his boss for an April 17 phone call with the president of Georgia and then helped the presumptive Republican presidential nominee prepare a strong statement of support for the fledgling republic.
The day of the call, a lobbying firm [Orion Strategies] partly owned by the adviser, Randy Scheunemann, signed a $200,000 contract to continue providing strategic advice to the Georgian government in Washington. "
Maybe the politics is too much for you and you should stick with orange women and other simple articles. - abarkett, on 08/14/2008, -3/+2Agree. The people on digg are so mind-numbingly one-sided that I get embarrassed to to be here sometimes.
- cygnus2112, on 08/14/2008, -2/+1Nevermind the fact that we should side with Georgia's independence and sovereignty, regardless of if we support Obama or McCain. What's this about contradiction? Both candidates took the same stance against Russia's invasion.
How about we get more critical about media/blogs and ask them to either be unbiased and objective or get out of the way for people who can be? - rayn58, on 08/14/2008, -2/+1Another blow by the crazies on the left. I didnt have to read the article. The source itself explains the direction and motivation of this.
- cygnus2112, on 08/14/2008, -7/+2"may have" is never a clear cut statement.
It's an advisor, not McCain himself. Obama and McCain both took the same position against Russia, only Obama later than McCain. While Scheunemann is an advisor from Orion, Susan Rice is Obama's senior strategist with a long history in the Brookings Institution.
To say they are different and one is not affected by lobbyists would be a lie. What's clear cut to me, and others, is that they are more alike than different. They are both heavily funded by the same groups that have always been around to fund their agendas. And these attacks about lobbies and affects on policy are just hypocritical mud slinging.
Vote for what you believe are the best political policies - not over playground antics of biased internet blogs. - inactive, on 08/13/2008, -16/+7I doubt it.
