- Christianptriot, on 08/26/2008, -3/+14Catholics are against abortion - PERIOD. So HOW can ANY Catholic Democrat even consider voting for ANY candidate who supports abortion?!?!
- Kent4jmj, on 08/26/2008, -2/+9Archbishop Chaput has great courage to speak the truth.
"Archbishop Chaput’s statement recognizes Pelosi as “a gifted public servant of strong convictions and many professional skills”
but adds that “regrettably, knowledge of Catholic history and teaching does not seem to be one of them.”
“The Christian tradition from the earliest days reveals a firm antiabortion attitude . . . The condemnation of abortion did not depend on and was not limited in any way by theories regarding the time of fetal animation. Even during the many centuries when Church penal and penitential practice was based on the theory of delayed animation, the condemnation of abortion was never affected by it. Whatever one would want to hold about the time of animation, or when the fetus became a human being in the strict sense of the term, abortion from the time of conception was considered wrong, and the time of animation was never looked on as a moral dividing line between permissible and impermissible abortion.”

They chided the Republican Congress for passing continuing resolutions for the budget and then did that very same thing. They even went so far as to pass the Republican budget for the "Justice" dept so they would not have to debate it. That was the same budget as was ridiculed by the Democrats in '06.
When she turned off the lights and went on a five week vacation I sent her a teabag to remind her that Americans have some unique ways of dealing with people like her.
My hope is that the people of her district are fed up with the do nothing Democrats and elect someone from another party, any other party. - inactive, on 08/26/2008, -2/+7Pelosi panders to whatever audience she is in front of which leads to contradictory statements and downright foolishness.
I hope she loses her seat in the election. She led the Democrats to the worst approval ratings in history. With approvals that low(less than 10%) she should be able to be sent home without serving another term and damaging America more.
Her opponents should be licking their cjhops at the prospect of running against someone that 90% of Americans disapprove of. - wardawg31, on 08/27/2008, -0/+4So you Tea Bagged Pelosi? I wish I had thought of doing that move.
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -0/+3It is not too late. You can send your teabag to her office in DC so it will be waiting for her when she gets back from her five week vacation.
- Navigator7, on 08/26/2008, -1/+3I rather like the idea that somebody like Speaker Pelosi is getting absolutely nothing done in congress and looking like a fool while doing it.
When I see my government "doing" things for us I can't help but be troubled.
We can afford to pay them high salaries, travel, retirement and many other perks that go with the office ... just as long as they embarrass themselves, write a book no one wants and above all, get high centered in congress and accomplish nothing!
Sure was sweet when she turned the lights out on her way out the door on vacation so Republicans wouldn't be heard on the drilling for oil issue.
If you want to know which side of an issue is proper ... find out where Pelsoi stands and choose the opposite. - rightwingattila, on 08/27/2008, -0/+1Okay, I’ll bite. How is stating CHURCH POLICY and correcting a member of that Church who happens to be a government official and who was clearly wrong with her statement on what the Church believes, meddling in politics???
- inactive, on 08/27/2008, -2/+2If he is gonna meddle in politics he should give up his church's rights not to pay taxes.
