- fantasmacanino, on 11/15/2007, -27/+212Before someone mentions the alien encounter: Carter and Reagan also claimed to have seen an alien.
And for *****'s sake, I'd rather have a man who claims he's seen an alien in office than someone who claims god talked to him. - Gir9000, on 11/15/2007, -4/+173Who decides the presidency, the Press or the People? Don't vote on who you think is going to win... Vote on who you want to win!
- phnx0221, on 11/15/2007, -13/+163I really don't understand why so many people fall into this trap of shallow mockery. I mean, really. Take Giuliani for example. I can't stand the broken 9/11 record, but after a while, you just stop caring about meaningless topical humor, and really look at a candidate's issues. I don't like Giuliani because I think his policies would be insane, and the inhumane treatment of others would spiral into something worse than it is even now. I don't simply dislike him because he's the 9/11 guy.
Falling into such meaningless pandering is fit for a third grader. It's childish. It is not for intelligent adults who are supposed to be basing their decisions of who they'd like to see run the country on actual platforms, political history, and future predictions of the overall general happiness of the population. - reikiman, on 11/15/2007, -16/+141I think you misread the article -- they didn't call Kucinich a joke, but instead made fun of the people making light of Kucinich. Kucinich is pointing at some real truths -- Cheney did manipulate intelligence, and done a hundred other things which require his impeachment and imprisonment for being a traitor to the country. For example.
- phnx0221, on 11/15/2007, -6/+87Look, Dennis Kucinich is not very likely to win the presidential nomination for the democratic party. As much as I would love to see him there, and will vote for him anyway, I know that there is no way our political process, business interests, incumbents, and electorates (by majority) are going to let that happen. If it does happen, that would be awesome, and give me much hope for change. But, I'm not banking on it.
However, I do think that his campaign is incredibly important to watch, support, and share with others. The reason for this, is that because he is such a strong advocate for issues that face our society, as well as societies elsewhere, he could very well push presidential debates into something more than meaningless political pandering currently taking place in our media, and presidential debates. He could force a direct debate on foreign policy, on implementation, on domestic policy, and again, on implementation of such.
I think it's very likely that this could happen. Can you imagine the presidential candidates being forced to think, and speak beyond their typical stump speeches, currently known as "debates"? Can you imagine the political candidates having to face up to real issues, real voices, real demand? They'd have to talk about what a Post Bush Administration America would look like, they'd have to face and talk about what a Post Bush Iraq would look like. They'd have to confront Iran, and what they're direct position is on Iran, how they would implement that, why they would implement anything, or whether they would immediately take Iran off the table.
If there were debates that were not filled with run around answers, bowing to different interests (business and grassroots) that the candidates do not want to defend, we could see some direct honesty that we have not seen in years.
That is why I see supporting Kucinich as a very positive, and incredibly helpful thing to do for our country. It is certainly not a joke, and I care deeply about our country, and how our country influences others, as well as how our country relates (militarily speaking) to others. Getting these issues on an open table is highly important to me, as I do not want another person voted into a high office based on lies and rhetoric. I do not want to repeat the same mistakes this country has helped lead in the last 6 years. - dn11, on 11/15/2007, -2/+75he didn't see an alien!! he saw a U F O as in "UNIDENTIFIED flying object". that doesn't = flying saucer! the way the media has spun that whole thing is sickening to me
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 11/14/2007, -9/+61Media don't want people of integrity to win. The 4 or 5 corporations that own all the media from books to brain waves,
want to make sure they get someone that plays ball.
When your sole purpose is making money, you don't care 600,000 people are dead in Iraq, or that people are being tortured in Cuba. - beerncheese, on 11/15/2007, -1/+52If "electability" weren't a factor and people actually looked at issues instead of hair styles (and ear size), Kucinich would have enough support to actually be electable.
- conceptkid, on 11/15/2007, -1/+47Im really glad he is in the debates, he brings some life to the democrats. Im sick of Obama and Clinton being shoved down my throat, they are idiots. Kucinich seems like a good guy
- SOS84, on 11/15/2007, -5/+50So what if he says he saw a UFO, nearly every GOP candidate believes in creatoion. At least seeing a UFO is plausible, though extremely unlikely.
- Arcesius, on 11/15/2007, -27/+69why? it's a helluva lot more compassionate than this perverted capitalism we have going on
- obelisky, on 11/15/2007, -11/+51irrelevant? kinda like the flag in your profile?
- g30ph, on 11/15/2007, -3/+42No, I think it's entirely possible to look up at the sky and see something and not know what it is. I haven't studied airplanes and weather balloons. That makes me a lunatic. Because I can't identify anything and everything that is in the sky.
- CZzyzx41, on 11/15/2007, -1/+39Exactly. This ain't high school people! It's our lives. It's our government. Take this ***** a little more serious, will you?
- MacEnvy, on 11/15/2007, -3/+38It didn't seem to have an effect on the credibility of Carter or Reagan. Why would it matter for Kucinich?
It only matters because the CNN and FNC are telling you it matters. - pintomp3, on 11/15/2007, -2/+34god forbid we have a rational president who wants to end the war on drugs and treat it like the problem it really is, a medical problem.
- fractalman, on 11/15/2007, -18/+50Kucinich is not a joke, he's a serious individual who stands no chance of becoming president. However, I hope they take him serious in congress and get on with impeachment of Cheney. Congress is where he can do the most good, he should give up the campaign and do his job in congress. Still, I wouldn't mind seeing his wife as first lady.
- pintomp3, on 11/15/2007, -1/+32it would be bad enough if bush only claimed god talked to him. he claimed god told him to invade iraq.
- p0ltergeist, on 11/15/2007, -0/+28People like you are the reason democracy doesn't work.
- CZzyzx41, on 11/15/2007, -1/+29Bingo and that's the point right there. We're focusing on the wrong things when it comes to candidates. If we focused on this stuff 140 years ago, Lincoln wouldn't have stood a chance.
- azprofessional, on 11/14/2007, -16/+43Compassion is un-American and serves terrorist you pinko
- dcbebop, on 11/15/2007, -0/+26I hate mainstream media. Why would you listen to anyone who obviously has a compromised sense of fair and balanced?
- azprofessional, on 11/15/2007, -5/+30Hahahaha, buzz off hillbilly
- NikoKun, on 11/15/2007, -9/+34oooooo socialists... scary... -_-
- CZzyzx41, on 11/15/2007, -3/+27No the Confederate flag is the flag for a group of people who not longer wanted to be part of the United States of America. It was supposed to be the flag of a new nation. That nation never came into full reality because that nation lost it's war for independence. So while people who carry the Confederate flag aren't necessarily racist, they ARE showing that they no longer want to be associated with the United States and they're showing their support for a country that failed to gain its independence. Plain and simple. HOWEVER, since that flag is connected to a nation that was pro-slavery, the sight of it will always carry a connotation of racism, oppression and bigotry. That might not be the self-proclaimed motive for the person flying it, but their motive doesn't matter because that's what the flag has come to mean the same way the swastika and pentagram will always be tarnished for the way those symbols were used in the past.
- TheLoneHoot, on 11/14/2007, -2/+26"I am far more intelligent than you can ever achieve."
...and your mom said it's time to get off the computer and take out the garbage or she won't buy you those pokemon cards you've been wanting. - TypeEE, on 11/15/2007, -2/+25Alien != UFO
If any other country demoing a plane that you don't what the ***** it is, it can be treated as UFO. - cranium, on 11/15/2007, -0/+22charisma? dude, that's pretty shallow.
- xTRUMANx, on 11/15/2007, -5/+27I believe the phrase 'speaks for the majority of Americans" mean that his words reflect what most Americans are concerned about. Just because you don't agree with him doesn't mean he doesn't speak for the majority, it just means you alone don't constitute the majority.
- pintomp3, on 11/15/2007, -4/+26right, and the nazi swastika was just a symbol of german pride. the confederate flag did stand for state's rights, the state's right to enslave black people.
- john2kx, on 11/15/2007, -7/+29Oh, that crazy Kucinich and his UFO theories! Why can't he be more like a normal politician who panders to groups that are waiting for the return of Jesus, and who think they speak for God?
- vade79, on 11/14/2007, -0/+22You realize the "He has no chance, but I'll vote for him" attitude never helps. "I want change, I will vote for him" is better. This mentality is partly what has given us the machine-like structure of politics we have today. I'm not a huge Kucinich fan, other than wanting Cheney/Bush off the face of the planet, but I know basic psychology.
- MacEnvy, on 11/15/2007, -3/+24@rottencod
You guys keep telling yourselves that. The rest of the country will continue to quietly mock you.
Talk about regressive ... y'all want to go back 150 years. Now THAT'S regression that even awes most conservatives. - Arcesius, on 11/15/2007, -6/+27bigoted towards the confederate flag? wtf is so bad about that?
- inactive, on 11/14/2007, -3/+23I'll do that if you can point to where I claimed there was a "socialist paradise."
- mkriss5681, on 11/15/2007, -1/+21Could you imagine the great and thought provoking debates if Kucinich won the Dem nomination and Paul won the GOP, but I doubt that would ever happen.
- roodammy44, on 11/14/2007, -5/+24What do you need as proof? To be there while someone's being tortured?
Practically everything else is there. - VinceNoir, on 11/14/2007, -13/+31So does the U.K. and Australia. What are you saying you ***** jackass? Any human right violations there to report that are beyond what is being perpetrated here in the U.S. and abroad by Americans? Learn a little something about the world before you spout off crap for the hell of it, OK?
- macman2k, on 11/15/2007, -0/+18Seeing something flying that you are unable to identify is very likely. It being aliens is extremely unlikely. It is one thing to report an observation, it is another to jump to conclusions.
- pintomp3, on 11/15/2007, -0/+18if people know about him and vote for him, of course he has a chance. while it's true that the corporate media and lobbyists are alllied against him, we should not resign to it and let them dictate who our leaders will be.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 11/15/2007, -1/+19He sees an aircraft he can't recognize and suddenly that means he doesn't know anything about politics?
- inactive, on 11/14/2007, -8/+26"One does not have a right to housing, healthcare, and education."
That is the right wing's view of how America should be. Many Americans disagree with you. We think that all Americans should be able to see a doctor, have shelter and education. Your definition of "liberty" isn't everyone's. - inactive, on 11/14/2007, -5/+22Media employees and the bury brigade will go to jail. They spread lies and fear. No White House staffer, Ruppert Murdock or anyone who breaks the law for any reason, including because their boss told them, will be protected. They use our hard-earned tax dollars to lie to us. These people will not get immunity from boiling, furious citizens.
Kucinich will go down in history as one of the few, patriotic Americans who stood up against tyranny. That is what America stands for. - azprofessional, on 11/15/2007, -7/+24Kitchenbitch is really the best you could come up with? Stick with satisying your cousin.
- CrackIsWack, on 11/15/2007, -4/+21Just say no? Sweden said yes to socialism and they now have one of the highest standards of living in the world.
- VinceNoir, on 11/14/2007, -2/+18There is a difference. American Democrats are the de-balled pets of American business. Compared to the Democrats of more enlightened countries, our Democrats are their conservatives. On the other hand, the very few socialists we have in America have no power at all. Learn what you're talking about before you make yourself look like an ass.
- undergrace, on 11/14/2007, -0/+15That's exactly the point. Why do you think Kucinich is polling so low? It's the fact that he is outrageously overlooked by the media that *causes* him to have such low figures. And yet when he actually is addressed in a debate, he's asked some ***** question rather than given the opportunity to shine some light on his platform. And then the same media that asked the ***** question then uses his answer to ridicule him and discourage any undecided voter to take him seriously.
It makes me mad to see how the media props up some candidates (Fred Thompson was first-tier *before he even joined the race*!!!) and sweeps everyone else under the rug. Maybe if Kucinich was given just as much face-time as everyone else people wouldn't comment on superfluous things such as his height or wife - because they would know something about what he believes and comment on that instead. I'm not even a Democrat, but I think Kucinich has some great ideas and deserves a lot more respect than he is getting. But as long as the majority of America thinks the primaries are only between 3 people, this country will never change. - jambox, on 11/14/2007, -7/+22No, you're thinking of Communism.
Socialism, in practical terms, is more like taking money from the rich to spend on ensuring the poor have good quality housing, healthcare and education.
Clearly, a ridiculous notion! - Drahkar, on 11/14/2007, -1/+16Not to mention the fact the media has been trying to bad mouth anyone who is actually trying to fix things for the country. Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich have both been getting railroaded. They haven't been doing it to Ron Paul as much lately because its been blowing up in their faces so they had to find a new target.
- macman2k, on 11/14/2007, -1/+16I have seen an unidentified flying object while looking toward the stars. At first I thought I saw a shooting star or a satellite moving across the sky at a VERY fast pace, but when it took a hard 90 degree turn I was like WTF. It is one thing to make an observation and it is another to jump to conclusions. The media loves to jump to conclusions.
