- muckemuck, on 03/26/2009, -10/+102How about they do the right thing rather than just towing the party line?
We would be a LOT better off if some of the Republicans who are now out beating the "fiscal conservative" drum hadn't followed in line behind Bush. - stutimandal, on 03/26/2009, -3/+36Dear Digg:
My comment preference is reverting to "oldest first" every time I set it to "most dugg."
Thank you for reading. - ThsGuyRightHere, on 03/26/2009, -1/+33I'm actually fine with moderate democrats voicing their opinions if they disagree. They're representing their constituents, which is their job. When moderates on either side of the aisle get drowned out by extremists, that's when stupid ***** happens.
- gigi52, on 03/26/2009, -6/+34notice how your "friends" from middle school would turn on you if you did not agree with them? To bad our representatives in Congress are still acting like whiny kids.
- chicagojack, on 03/26/2009, -13/+34Maybe the moderates are right?!?!?
- inactive, on 03/26/2009, -13/+34I believe Will Rogers said it best: "I belong to no organized party. I'm a Democrat."
- JAVandiver, on 03/26/2009, -19/+39Kudos to the moderate Democrats for standing up against the liberal machine. It is good to see that there are some who have not fully subscribed to the Cult of Obama and actually remember, FTA: “The liberal groups need to understand that we are not elected to represent the president,” Pryor said. “We’re elected to represent our states, and we are trying to reflect the attitudes and values of the people who sent us to Washington.”
- brbeaird, on 03/26/2009, -12/+31It's not going to matter. Obama purposely asked for a number so large, even if it gets cut in half, we're screwed, and Congress gets to say "Look how responsible we are - we reduced the budget by 50%!" even if it still puts our debt just for this year in the trillions. Government sure knows how to set an example for all of us when it comes to budgets.
- Goph09, on 03/26/2009, -26/+45Unfortunately those moderate democrats have some brain in their thick skulls to know that Obama's budget is going to bankrupt the country. Lets just tripple the debt in a year and increase the debt 10 fold over the next couple years. EXCELLENT IDEA
- Andrwmorph, on 03/26/2009, -2/+20Vote in the issues, not on the lines.
- geek4x4, on 03/26/2009, -2/+17@workaround4u
You don't even know what a blue dog is, do you?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Dog_Democrat - badqat, on 03/26/2009, -15/+29Bingo! They spent like drunken sailors on shore leave after a six month tour at sea.
- SQLserver, on 03/26/2009, -3/+13Isn't that a good thing? Having a party with a single set of ideas and a rigid mindset means nobody truly wins.
- inactive, on 03/26/2009, -4/+13I don't know what that has to do with my comment but I agree with you.
- Claverhouse, on 03/26/2009, -0/+9Think that's annoying ? My Reply Threshold reverts to '-10 diggs' after each log-on. Meaning that it needs to be set to 'Show All' each time. Due to the last upgrade I guess, since it only began this pattern a few days ago.
- inactive, on 03/26/2009, -6/+15Believe me, I'm about as Bush-hatin' as it gets, but that's just ignorant. The owners of this depression are the mortgage-takers, the lenders, and the investors who were all chasing after the illusion of free money. I know it's always fashionable to bash Bush, but this does nothing but distract from the real issue at hand. Also, it's an insult to anyone who has legitimate complaints about Bush. I am absolutely sick of the fact that I can't say one negative thing about Bush without being lumped in with people like you.
- chinaman1212, on 03/26/2009, -0/+7Oh hell the'll vote for it. they might not read it, but the'll vote for it.
- chinaman1212, on 03/26/2009, -3/+10thats right. tell them not to even read it. just pass it.
- NorthMass, on 03/26/2009, -9/+15You are obviously misinformed. Obama said he is fiscally conservative, just like he said he would bring all the troops home from Iraq in 16 months, give us all 5 days to read a bill online before its signed, have no more pork barrel spending, no more lobbyists in the White House, filibuster FISA, listen to all viewpoints(hello Rick Santelli), and use public funding for his campaign.
- inactive, on 03/26/2009, -17/+23Watch the circus act get caught up in the BS. Don't worry about what is really going on.
Everything is fine go back to sleep. - inactive, on 03/26/2009, -26/+32“We are going to need almost every Democratic vote to pass the budget,”
Obama doesn't want the budget. He is asking for more then he wants and then settling for what he wanted in the first place. But the liberals will say look how much he took out (As a compromise). Bury my comment but in two weeks it will be the top story on digg just like everything else I say on here. - LiquidIse, on 03/26/2009, -0/+5Let me summarize what you just said:
"The bush administration was bad because disagreeing was not allowed. Democrats disagree. That is good. BUT, Democrats should not be allowed to disagree with this because Obama being president is somehow more legitimate than other presidents." - inactive, on 03/26/2009, -0/+5federal assault weapons ban is not on the agenda. I know you Republicans are praying for it, so you can hit Democrats hard on that. It's not gonna happen, we have way more important things to pass.
- akamurph, on 03/26/2009, -0/+5^^ Ditto
- BaseballGuyCAA, on 03/26/2009, -2/+7The American people have been setting this example for the government for years now. Spending money we don't have on ***** we can't afford.
- anthropodeus, on 03/26/2009, -0/+5dugg for subtlecasm
- y0y0howsdajell0, on 03/26/2009, -6/+11Thank goodness. Following the party line helps no one, especially when it's this extreme.
"Mr. President, it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren till she transforms us into beasts. Is this the part of wise men, engaged in a great and arduous struggle for liberty? Are we disposed to be of the number of those who, having eyes, see not, and, having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation?" -Patrick Henry, "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" - falstaff, on 03/26/2009, -0/+5The GOP took 3 years of solid Republican control (2003-2005) for party divisions to become an issue. At least they had "terrorism" to rally around and keep members in line. I'm not sure what the Democrats unifying issue will be. So far it's been outrage at Republicans, but voters are going to demand real change pretty soon.
It's been decades since a single party controlled all three partisan houses of government for more than 4 years consecutively. - Bryantho, on 03/26/2009, -4/+9I spent 15 seconds staring at the title of this post trying to figure out if one word was spelled differently from the other. Jesus I'm dumb.
Democrats vs. Democrats - kemp34, on 03/26/2009, -1/+6Those are FAKE fiscal "conservatives".
- Hydrogen, on 03/26/2009, -3/+8People elected Barry Oh because he promised to be a centrist and remove party politics. They didn't elect him to spend 6,000000000000000000000000000000000000 dollars.
- badqat, on 03/26/2009, -37/+41Go blue dogs go!
- jsffive, on 03/26/2009, -6/+10Nice propaganda, but when the dust clears, how much will the final total be?
All I'm saying is that we should ultimately judge by the RESULTS... and not the RHETORIC. - flashingcurser, on 03/26/2009, -2/+6Please review the facts:

Digg me down, we don't want facts. This is digg. - inactive, on 03/26/2009, -12/+16Heh, this is the Dems we're talking about - I think the real shock here is that there even is a party line.
- enantiodromia, on 03/26/2009, -0/+4you keep worrying about ***** that isn't going to happen, while the rest of us fix the economy.
don't worry, even if you don't participate, you still reap the rewards. - zip000, on 03/26/2009, -1/+5I really dislike the blue dogs, but I also don't think that they should be encouraged to tow the party line either.
I support Obama's plans so far, but congressmen should vote their consciences. - Cerebron, on 03/26/2009, -1/+5We aren't a center-left country, we are an amalgam of various leaning states which may lean in any direction.
- ReubenIra, on 03/26/2009, -7/+11But this is the "change" the democrats have wanted. Now they got it. Now the country get flushed down the tubes.
- Noodleson, on 03/26/2009, -8/+12"As Boehner accused Blue Dog Democrats of being “lap dogs”
I lol'd - novenator, on 03/26/2009, -7/+11fiscal conservative will forever mean 'borrow and spend'. every republican president since Reagan has spent borrowed money like there is no tomorrow.
- inactive, on 03/26/2009, -2/+6esdjco and duncan - you just fell for an obvious troll.
- theskillwithin, on 03/26/2009, -11/+15It is obvious that the moderate liberals are more sensible than the far left extremists.
- chinaman1212, on 03/26/2009, -2/+5i haven't seen one of them borrow and spend 9 billion yet.
- inactive, on 03/26/2009, -0/+3I hate it how the words "moderate" and "centrist" are used. They mean very different things.
If we are using a uni-axis model, the representation of political ideologies will look like this:
Radical << Liberal << Moderate >> Conservative >> Reactionary
A uni-axis model is used for categorizing a person's political ideology in the sense of how he view the status quo.
A bi-axis model has five fields: Left-Wing, Right-Wing, Libertarian, "big government" (no adequate term available), and centrist. This model excluded forms of anarchism, including Marxism. A bi-axis model is used for categorizing a person's political ideology based on [1] emphasis on either economic or social liberty and [2] the degree to which the person places a positive or negative view of Government, and thus the degree to which that person believes is an acceptable size of Government.
I can go on and on, but the important thing is that moderate =/= centrist. - dannykeene, on 03/26/2009, -1/+4Who said anything about republicans?
- techweenie1, on 03/26/2009, -1/+4Just you wait and see when the radicals that have hijacked your party start attacking their own with the same ferociousness as they display against the opposition...they'll claim your counter-revolutionary, although they may not use these exact words the intent is the same. History repeats itself.
- inactive, on 03/26/2009, -2/+5John Boner is the last person who can throw that accusation around.
- Anachronus, on 03/27/2009, -0/+3Yes, heaven forbid they have their own ideas.
- neonhomer, on 03/26/2009, -8/+11Well it is CHANGE, just in the opposite direction everyone thought.
