- spidoman, on 10/11/2007, -13/+87When republicans do something like this: Outrage! Impeach, fire, do anything to get them out.
When democrats do it: Eh, they're just like all other politicians, nothing we can do.
Is anyone else as confused as I am? - zizzybaloobah, on 10/11/2007, -18/+91As long as we essentially remain a two-party system, It really doesn't matter who you vote for...because nothing really changes
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -6/+63Wow...a bad Democrat story on Digg? No way!?
- cassholio, on 10/11/2007, -14/+71I guess it's only such a big deal since the Dem Congress talked incessantly about the "Culture of Corruption"-oh well, color me shocked and awed too.
- Indyanna, on 10/11/2007, -23/+79" Rather than including specific pet projects, grants and contracts in legislation as it is being written, Democrats are following an order by the House Appropriations Committee chairman to keep the bills free of such earmarks until it is too late for critics to effectively challenge them."
Oh my. Knock me over with a feather. The Democrats are actually politicians, too?? *sob* Oh, the humanity!! - TheCash, on 10/11/2007, -6/+56Anyone ever notice how when a story comes out implicating a republican of wrong doing, it's a scandalous revalation, but when a story comes out implicating a democrat of wrong doing, it's automatically 'republican propoganda?'
Anyone else remember that story about biases that was on top of digg a week of so ago?
Yeah. - DiggerinCali, on 10/11/2007, -2/+30Wow, never thought I'd see the day DIGG would alllow a negative post about democrats. I'm so used to the more common "everything is Bush's fault" posts. Amazing.
- Chief5232, on 10/11/2007, -14/+41Most Ethical Congress Ever.
- sfpfc, on 10/11/2007, -6/+29I am just waiting for someone to say oh ya, well George Bush did this.....
- fuzzmeister, on 10/11/2007, -14/+34So, what, you'd rather have Chinese corporations win?
- TheCash, on 10/11/2007, -4/+23What? A bunch of politicians trying to to pull a fast one over the very people that put them in office, all to further their own interests?
Get the ***** outta town!
Next you'll be telling me that healthcare is expensive, and fast food is actually bad for me.
@daleeburg
I think he's saying people who can stay in office until they are voted out without term limits = bad. How is that so difficult to understand? - cswnow, on 10/11/2007, -2/+16Of course you go straight to the moveon.orgs or anything George Soros puts out. I'm sorry you don't have Al Franken spewing his load of crap anymore.
- danakin, on 10/11/2007, -8/+21This story is exposing the truth about American politics. It doesn't matter whose side you're on, they both are equally corrupt.
- ericdano, on 10/11/2007, -7/+19Gee, Nancy P., lying? No way.
- PeppermintPig, on 10/11/2007, -7/+18Many in congress feel they're able to act responsibly with their own operations, but they must pass spending rules to keep the 'other side' from misbehaving. Typical elitism. So what else is new?
Stop enabling these rubes. Vote on principle, vote liberty! I don't suppose it's torch and pitchfork time quite yet? - TheCash, on 10/11/2007, -8/+19@masgrada
Hey, if the rest of the nation thinks they can decide what we do with our state, I think you all should at least pay to play. Fair is fair, so put up or shut up.
@spidoman
Brother, I'm confused anytime anyone speaks with 'absolute certainty,' as what they say rarely seem absolute or certain.
Sort of like when a bunch of 'scientists' tell me that they conclusively understand global warming and global climate patterns, yet no one seems to be able to accurately and reliably report what the weather is going to be like in 2 days, let alone 20 or 200 years from now. Just reminds me of an article I read in Time back in the early 90's, that warned about the 'impending ice age, brough on by man.'
I just wish someone would decide one of these days whether or not we have hell, or hell freezing over, to look forward to. I'd sort of like to know so I can dress appropriately. - ThePeteStanis, on 10/11/2007, -11/+21Vote Ron Paul and spelling loses.
- InfamousAtheist, on 10/11/2007, -9/+18Consider thinking for yourself. Every media outlet is biased. It's a simple fact: eliminating bias from any news report is impossible. Every reporter is biased in some way, and no matter how hard any of them tries (or not) to remove bias from a story, their language embeds bias. Always.
If you think the source of this article somehow makes the report false, I suggest you reevaluate your definitions of true and false. - screamthenrun, on 10/11/2007, -7/+16Earmarks should be outlawed *insert really big period*
oh... wait.. they make the laws.. dammit! - deathweaver108, on 10/11/2007, -3/+12vote...them...all...out
- sashley, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9And they starve school children and old people....
- Zarchon, on 10/11/2007, -3/+12@bacchante
Wow, so much hate. You are part of that "extreme left" I keep hearing about. I was thinking, wow, the Democrats are just as evil as the Republicans and then I read your post and I remembered all the hate the left spews. I remembered the hypocrisy of the left. How they republicans got control of Congress with the "Contract with America". They pretty much held up their end of the bargain for a couple of years. Now the Dems come back and take control with the "first 100 days". But hey, they didn't even try to do what got them elected. They just allow their supporters to sit back and make excuses for why they aren't doing what they promised.
There's still an appreciable difference between Democrats and Republicans.
It's too bad neither party will step up and do what's right, but I don't wish any of their babies death, not even yours. - audioslavery, on 10/11/2007, -3/+11Oh teh noes da democratz are in teh redz
what now diggers?
your liberal represenatives are faulty
if this was written about republicans it would have 2000+ diggs - wm2010russ, on 10/11/2007, -4/+12zizzy-
totally agree with you. i wish we didnt even have parties in our government. just run people based on their own personal beliefs. why force candidates to adopt party platforms that may be harmful to the state? - spectxim, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10"Such requests total billions of dollars." & "Democrats are sidestepping rules approved their first day in power in January to clearly identify "earmarks""
Imagine that; more billions wasted the first day they are in power; only problem now is we don't know where our billions are going. - Barbarino, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9it's gotta be that darn global warming
- OriginalLucid1, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8"Nobody freaks out unless they're excessive like that idiot from Alaska is always getting."
Senator Byrd(D) is from West Virginia. - vuke69, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9"but won't spend our money on pet projects."
That's EXACTLY what they want you to think! - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -6/+12*GASP* But...they said they would be ethical. You mean....a politician lied to me? But they're Democrats...they couldn't have done anything bad (unless Ron Paul said it was bad). They're perfect beings, not people! Next thing you know, they'll try to convince me that Al Gore didn't invent the internet and that it's not made of tubes!
- TheCash, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9Tell me about it. Remember when the news agencies used to report the news, and politics only made up like a 2 minute special segment of it?
And the weather girl was hot, so we could forgive her even though she was usually dead wrong?
Man I miss those days. - slantyeyed, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6An article on the front page of digg that puts the democrats in a bad light? Blasphemy!
- BookImDanno, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6What is the bigger scandal, the lie about the Most Ethical Congress Ever, or the fact that so many were fooled into believing this Big Lie?
Newt Gingrich ran on 10 campaign promises and he delivered. Talk down the man all you want but he kept his word. Can someone give us a comparable democrat? - JMaelstrom, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7Wait - I thought Democrats were going to fix all the ills of the world?
- Grivako, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9Well I am very fair, I don't trust Republicans or Democrats equally
Instead I try and find out about the people behind the labels, and what they stand for. Republican, Democrat, Independent, Star Bellied Sneetch, Butter Side Down, whatever they may be - xyz321, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Without earmarks politicians have nothing to advertise with. Republicans AND democrats love to tell constituents how they brought millions of dollars back to the district. It's one reason incumbents generally win and the government spends so much.
- TheTankengine, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5@blored and every other person just like you
Would you stop spamming this ***** already!! You are doing nothing but belittling the people that support Ron Paul for legitimate reasons. Do a favor to humanity in general and never post on the Internet again.
And just so I don't have to see your horribly misspelled and ill-conceived reply --
blocked - feelmydisease, on 10/11/2007, -17/+21new boss same as the old boss...term limits and no corporate lobbying, ever. not a fan of democrats nor of republicans. most of all i hate corporategreedmongers and careerist politicians. however, the ron paulsie spammers make me dislike him because of the people who support him...arrogant, obnoxious and ignorant. in no particular order.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6JESUS ***** CHRIST!!!!! AN ARTICLE THAT IS NEGATIVE TO DEMOCRATS ON THE FRONT PAGE???????
If there is anybody that lives in Santa Monica, can you go over to 1158 26th street and make sure the digg building is still standing? - dtschwe, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5I hate to digg a story with an ad like this on the page:
"Rush Limbaugh: 'If you want the news, you go to breitbart.com.'"
but this is a good example of how the ***** democrats are no better than the ***** republicans. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -7/+11Hi im new boss, same as old one. bye
Its the same old choice. turd sandwich vs giant douche. - stormshadow777, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Democrats are the part of hatred and intolerance. How can you explain the Democrats refusal to allow blacks higher stations in America? They are in the same position as they were 50 years ago. What have the Democrats done for them besides step on their backs on the way to the white house?
I highly doubt you work, let alone run a 6 million dollar company. Sitting in your parents basement eating McDonalds and hashing your friends about the good ole days of high school is more then likely your job.
You are the problem in America. Turning a blind eye to your own party. Look at the Republicans response to the current immigration bill. Now look your at the response to the war spending bill. If Bush is such an idiot, then why did the Democrats cow to him so easily? Because your a party that depends on feeling good rather then doing whats right.
Democrats are as pathetic in the majority as they were in the minority. They couldn't even make it through 100 days without back spinning on their promises to get us out of the war. Bush has the Democrats by the balls and they can do nothing but give him a reach around. - mishabear, on 10/11/2007, -5/+8and I never liked politicians who don't listen to their constituents and who do what's best for lining their own pockets. I have yet to witness a politician of ANY party that considers his JOB as my representative over his own self-interest.
- Botanicus, on 10/16/2007, -13/+16I've never liked the democrat style of government.
I've also never liked liberals. It just so happens they usually follow one another. - Toshibi, on 10/11/2007, -7/+10"Oh, I don't blame Congress. If I had $600 billion at my disposal, I'd be irresponsible, too." ~Lichty and Wagner
- mal1964, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4@ubu do you have a better idea?
- saigumi, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5I'm mostly concerned about it because this was part of the #1 initiative presented in the "100 Hours" pitch.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/10/06/AR2006100600056.html
Good job cleaning up that swamp. - drilldown, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Hi. HOLY ***** CHRIST in power. Are the elections tomorrow?
:-> - elcaminos, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5@cswnow, I'm a republican, and thats the dumbest statement I've ever heard. So all the republicans are staying up late on digg even when they have to go to their steady jobs in the morning? You're a part of whats wrong with the party.
- brains, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5bastards.
- hiikeeba, on 10/11/2007, -5/+8Democrats, by definition, are not able to do anything illegal. Republicans, on the other hand, can do nothing legal. $100,000 in bribes? If you're a Democrat you get moved to a different committee, If you're a Republican, you are arrested and removed from office. Drink and drive? If you're a (Kennedy) Democrat, the police drive you home. A Republican gets a ticket, and maybe some jail time. A drunk Republican tells women they have nice boobs, he's not fit for office. A sober democrat slips his hand up a woman's dress and the charge is a political motivated.
It all depends on how you frame the debate. -
