- inactive, on 06/03/2008, -2/+24FTA: "Former President Bill Clinton today unleashed a salty stream ..."
Not this again... - inactive, on 06/02/2008, -9/+28As much as I dislike Bill Clinton for the dishonest and contemptible way he's campaigned for Hillary, I dislike this retched Huffington Post blogger more. Mayhill Fowler is an unethical, lying hack who has no business being published on any reputable news site.
I hope EVERYONE buries her tripe. - NVMojo, on 06/03/2008, -6/+24Bill's sense of entitlement is overwhelming too. It's only ok for the Clintons to attack people and smear them but no one better tell the truth about the schizophrenic Clintons.
- ayiticherie, on 06/03/2008, -2/+17 My sincere apoIogies folks. I did not realize that this was the same woman.
- goodnrg, on 06/03/2008, -1/+15joshuablog, you are absolutely right, Ms, Fowler is really a republican with an agenda. She contributed to Fred Thompson and she is married to a wealthy McCain supporter. She did contribute to Obama too, to buy her way into events where she get information that she could distort in order to write negative articles. The fact that HuffPo defends her deceitful actions under the guise of a "citizen journalist" is a stain on their brand. That's not to say that this article is about Bill Clinton is necessarily false, but you have to consider the flawed source.
- 3carter, on 06/03/2008, -8/+21I don't know Mayhill but this report is amazing! Bill seems to be sick and paranoid. He thinks Obama has controll over the whole media and a vast conspiracy is denying his wife the presidency! WTF!?
- dn11, on 06/03/2008, -4/+15That's fine, but everyone should still read the piece on Clinton. It is pretty long, but worth it.
http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/features/2008/0 ... - nannyree, on 06/03/2008, -6/+16This is exactly why Obama cannot have Hillary around because Bill will keep saying outlandish things to try and discredit him. They will never forgive Barack for "stealing" what they felt was owed to them. Instead of blaming themselves for running a terrible hate filled campaign they choose to put the blame on others.
- why3th, on 06/03/2008, -0/+7Obama doesn't have control over the media. The media has been real lousy this election. They've focused on the little things Obama has "done" (Rev. Wright, flag pin, etc etc) and blown them way out of proportion while ignoring big things that Hillary has done. And they've outright ignored McCaine.
- cawpin, on 06/03/2008, -1/+8And that's what should have been submitted in the first place.
Also, "Mayhill Fowler is an unethical, lying hack who has no business being published on any reputable news site."
Hence the reason she works for the Huffington Post, a pretty good fit I think. - jforjools, on 06/03/2008, -0/+7Yeah, don't forget about the part where he says that Obama is purposely 'sliming' Hillary by getting others (including preachers) to do the sliming for him.
My opinion of Bill slips a little more. - vkiperman, on 06/03/2008, -3/+9Bill Clinton has been harassed and harangued throughout the decades of his public life. Probably worse, and more unnecessarily and unfairly than any other public servant in the history of politics. Every person has his/her limits. It's about time he spoke his mind.
Just because he has not always been honest (what politician has, has George Bush?), does not mean he can't see others' dishonesty and vulgarity. And he is no longer President, so he can finally let loose.
It seems that all the Bill Clinton detractors cannot see the forest for the trees. - Jsmuli2, on 06/03/2008, -2/+7He was impeached because the republicans owned congress and wanted to have things their way with the president after Clinton, and it worked. He got impeached for something that is not the publics business. So who cares if he was impeached, doesn't mean that reporters aren't dishonest.
You want to talk about true impeachment? Let's get things going for Bush. Since he should have been impeached long ago, we should have him and his idiot advisors arrested the second he isn't president anymore. - Cyberdactyl, on 06/04/2008, -0/+4Here's a perfect example of how you can tell digg's algorithms are in no way a fair political process engine.
How many articles about Obama's racist preacher, Rev. Wright or the sexist and racist catholic priest, Michael Pfleger make the front page of digg. . . ?
NEWS FLASH. . .NONE. - fygars, on 06/03/2008, -1/+5Yeah! Go Bill! Tell it as it is! No sugar-coating or dancing around an issue, just call the guy scum, and move on. We need more frank people like him.
- slapout, on 06/03/2008, -0/+4It's amazing how you've turned on the Clintons. It will be interesting to see what happens when you turn on Obama.
- inactive, on 06/03/2008, -5/+9I guess what they say is true: Times of conflict can bring out the worst in someone or the best. For the Clintons, clearly they have both shown their true colors. It's an important aspect of the campaign, though. Since Bill started stumping for Hillary, he has shown how much of a loose canon he is. He has snapped at comments, people, press, photographers, crowds, etc. Why? BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T ***** AGREE WITH HIM OR SHARE HIS VIEWS.
That's sad. I had a lot of respect for this man during his two terms. But at this point, I've zero respect for him and zero respect for his wife. They come off as the rich people who tried to buy everything they wanted and when they figured out they couldn't buy everything or everyone, they went mad. It's seriously a modern day tragedy. Both used to have a certain amount of respect...now they're just pariahs. - sublimemm, on 06/03/2008, -0/+4"...any reputable news site."
The Huffington Post is not a reputable news site. It may be a popular _opinion_ news site, but not a reputable one. - 1aPowerDigger, on 06/03/2008, -4/+8Yeah... Bill's got some issues. I wish he'd stick to the one single issue that has merit: What is up with our bizarre system of delegates and superdelegates, and why in our supposed "democracy" do we have a system which overrides popular votes? (I'm not talking about the electoral college -- which although also ridiculous, is not *nearly* as absurd as our primary system).
I'd like to see Obama elected, but every time I hear about some superdelegate (who none of us voted for) having some huge influence on the primary -- I see red. Who the f*ck are these guys, and why do they have 1000000 times the voting power of you and me?
The primary system is entirely busted, and I hope the one legacy Hillary leaves (as she hopefully disappears forever) is to point out the absurdity of this legacy system which has its roots in the good-old-boy days of non-populist primaries. - 1aPowerDigger, on 06/03/2008, -0/+3Now seriously... what kind of person Digg's down what is easily the most common criticism of our primary system. Is someone's daddy a delegate?
- goodnrg, on 06/03/2008, -1/+4No problem. I didn't realize it either till I read the comments. I had to undigg it to bury it.
- nblsavage, on 06/03/2008, -1/+3Are all you Paulites clones? You sound exactly alike in your drivel-spewing insanity.
- marabout40, on 06/02/2008, -4/+6You're right. I'll never forgive her for what she did to Barack.
- j0ew00ds, on 06/03/2008, -0/+2modern day tragedy? gimme a break, he's been this way all along, you're just now seeing it like it is.
- chrispy_101, on 06/03/2008, -0/+2I would see why he would be pissed and I have to agree with that. Seeing how Hilary has stayed in this race and is this close after this constant media bashing that has been focused on her it is obviously the media isn't mirroring the way america feels about this campaign and about her. So I would call this guy a scumbag and if someone was attacking my wife in public with lies, I would beat the crap out of him too. So I would say Bill is being pretty level headed about this.
- slapout, on 06/03/2008, -1/+3The Huffington Post is not a new site. It is a political opinion site that leans to the left.
- idreamwideyed, on 06/03/2008, -3/+5somebody call the waaambulance.
- queenbee93, on 06/03/2008, -0/+2It's the proverbial 11th hour, HRC is slated to lose, Obama will be the Democratic nominee, Hillary just said on tv that she is open to being Obama's VP pick and her husband is still bad mouthing and blaming Obama for problems of HRC's campaign that were caused by HRC and her campaign.
What is wrong with this picture? To put HRC in as the VP pick with her loud mouth attention seeking hubby alternately screeching and preening and lying for the media would be like a CEO being forced to hire the company's ladder climbing, back stabbing hatchet man for his next in line.
We all KNOW how ugly it would get and how it could end. No thank you--better to lose by honest votes than to cave into political extortion and try to work with back stabbers like the Clintons. - bluevillage, on 06/03/2008, -3/+5CNN was reporting (without mentioning that it was Fowler who posted the audio on HuffPo) that Bill is kept away from reporters and that this one apparently sneaked in, and that Bill may not have known he was being recorded. After I saw it was Mayhill Fowler who was the culprit, I wonder if she's sneaking her recordings in general.
- lordving, on 06/03/2008, -0/+2powerdigger, you were dugg down because you're completely lost. if you analyzed the issues behind the Superdelegate idea, you would see it was implemented to make sure the DNC has the final say on who is running as the democratic candidate. Yes you're right that Superdelegates could overturn the will of the people. I don't know why you're imposing your hypothesis as Superdelegates choosing Obama when it is Clinton telling them they should choose her because she is more "electable"...what she's pushing for is exactly what you don't want, Superdelegates overriding their state's popular vote. To be fair, you can't criticize either of them as they're using the resources necessary to win and playing within the rules. Complain to the DNC for instituting these rules
- pappyblueribs, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1After this much focus on it, do you seriously not understand the election process of the Democratic party?
- inactive, on 06/03/2008, -1/+2It didn't take the liberal mob long to turn on their perverted hero Klint. One wonders what ultimate fate awaits Obama when he loses this fall.
- henri915, on 06/03/2008, -4/+5I think it's nice to see the Clintons NOT get a pass from the media for a change.
- lordving, on 06/04/2008, -0/+1I only meant playing by the rules as it pertains to persuading Superdelegates to choose them over their state primary results
The MI and FL thing was shameful on her part. She should've stood by her initial pledge it would not count - queenbee93, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1They are NOT playing within the rules--at least Hillary is not. By insisting on seating Florida and Michigan after they broke the rules and insisting on trying to get a lion's share of votes even though she signed a pledge that agreed to that nonseating; HRC is already thumbing her nose at the rules. But what else is new? I seem to recall HRC claiming loud and long when Obama had all the metrics except the delegate count--that the popular vote did not count just the delegate one did...she moves the goal posts to benefit her own team, which has been often and required a suspension of any decency, fairness or the rules--THAT is not playing within the rules--it is cheating. Even kids know this.
- datastorageguy, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1I see what you did there?
- smek2, on 06/03/2008, -5/+6""[He's] sleazy," he said referring to Purdum. "He's a really dishonest reporter. And one of our guys talked to him . . . And I haven't read [the article]." -- so he did not read the article but calls the reporter "sleazy" and "scumbag"? Wow...
"he told me there's five or six just blatant lies in there. But he's a real slimy guy," the former president said." -- funny, the same i think about his wife. - isntreal, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1I would assume he meant modern day as in this century.
- inactive, on 06/03/2008, -3/+4huffington post is largely correctly named, there is a lot of huffing that goes into each and every post. Why they have even reported "news" as fact before anyone else. There is a reason for that, it wasnt fact, it never happened and they just made the whole thing up. No one calls them on this crap because they are pro obama anti-everyone else. As long as they make stuff up that supports obama, such as when they reported a month ago that hilarity dropped out of the race, everyone is fine with it.
The fact that such a large percentage of stories come from there, evne the ones where they only cut and paste part of a story from elsewhere and link to it, makes me think someone is spamming for them or by them. Why not digg the real article, why link to them just so they can get ad revenue, and then have to goto the real article anyway because they dont have the whole thing. That isnt always the case, but its happened enough times. - datastorageguy, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1I have health care and everyone I knows has health care. The reason? We work for a living. Taxing the hell out of everyone who works for a living to pay for lay abouts to have health care isn't my style of freedom nor the style of freedom that made this country so great.
- xGORDOx, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1By "upstanding" do you mean that he attacks via third party and not face to face, because that's primarily what he has done.
I like Obama, but let's be honest, he has other people do his dirty work so he can look clean. - curiousted, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1The Big Dog is all bark an no bite these days. Bill Clinton has truly lost his way. Sad . . .
- Ukonu, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1You may be completely correct. I'm willing to entertain the idea, especially since, even as an Obama supporter, I'm getting annoyed by the recent glut of clearly biased Huffington Post articles.
But I hope you do realize that the stupid name games people like you play (e.g. "Fowl(er)", "Puffington Host", "Micro$oft", etc.) make you look ridiculous. - xGORDOx, on 06/03/2008, -1/+2And it's crazy to think that Democrats (before Obama) put this guy on a pedestal.
Everyone just excepted what Bill said, about everything, as truth.
Now, because most (D)'s support Obama, peoples eyes are open and are starting to really see his true colors!
Now you know how (R)'s and Libertarians have felt for years! - datastorageguy, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1Of course there were political reasons. Congress and the president make political decisions. He did lie under oath though. This is provable and factual.
- Elkinesque, on 06/03/2008, -1/+2Horse exhaust. Bill was harrassed long before the Lewinsky scandal. Where Reagan was called the Teflon President, Clinton was the velcro President--even an investment in which he LOST money was drummed up as a scandal. He was always the target of the press, never its darling. Obama may be another Reagan. Or he might, God help us all, turn out to be another Carter.
- Jsmuli2, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1yes he did lie under oath, but he shouldn't have even been put in that position to begin with.
