- grungegbunny, on 07/18/2008, -6/+106You know you have issues when the Dalai Lama criticizes you.
- MyMagma, on 07/18/2008, -3/+84"He explained that to reach a point where nations would outwardly disarm, people must first inwardly disarm, by becoming compassionate, not just with friends, but with all people, including those perceived as enemies."
- Sp1k3, on 07/18/2008, -10/+70This is like getting called out by Gandhi. Bush is Epic Fail!
- wynja, on 07/18/2008, -8/+48I want some of whatever was slipped into the Dali Lama's drink. "His intentions are good...." ***** please. His intentions are rooted in pure greed.
- YouGotDugg, on 07/18/2008, -1/+32Bush lacks a lot more than understanding reality.
- StaticThunder, on 07/18/2008, -3/+33The lama is possibly the most compassionate person in the world. He may not see things as good or evil, he sees them as ignorant or enlightened. He is basically saying "Bush knows not what he does." As such, Bush can't help but be what he is. A pitiable figure.
On the other hand, I think a good frog-march and trial would enlighten Bush much more quickly than love. - Rixta, on 07/18/2008, -11/+39Confucious say, "well, duh..."
- inactive, on 07/18/2008, -4/+26The llama and I disagree about Mr Bush's intentions... unless by "good" he means "murderous and greedy"
- inactive, on 07/18/2008, -2/+24I would love to hear your negative statements about the dalai lama, please entertain me
- inactive, on 07/18/2008, -3/+21Understatement of the year!
- icdapoakr, on 07/18/2008, -4/+20What has the Dalai Lama done? I'm genuinely curious.
- jevaun, on 07/18/2008, -2/+16waiting for the Bush/McSame guys to show up and start posting about what a prick the Dalai Lama is.
"That dude's wearin' a dress!" - inactive, on 07/18/2008, -2/+15Oh, no! Not spreading Buddhist teachings! With people being indoctrinated into Buddhist values of internal and external peace, who knows what might happen?
- inactive, on 07/18/2008, -1/+14Cheers to that.
- monoa, on 07/18/2008, -6/+17Rich irony - you criticizing *anyone* for struggling to work something out.
- Pinkertinkle, on 07/18/2008, -0/+10Bush lacks an understanding of a lot of things.
- chaos7, on 07/18/2008, -1/+11actually i think bush could believe he has good intentions, but he's too stupid to realize how stupid he is.
- inactive, on 07/18/2008, -0/+10everyone is relatively living in illusion but bush's delusion is absolute
- dsmx, on 07/18/2008, -3/+12Bush hasn't been in reality since he declared a war or terrorism.
- rz8472, on 07/18/2008, -0/+9I wish I had the same optimism as the Dalai Lama.
- CrazedLeper, on 07/18/2008, -0/+8His intentions are not good, either. He's an evil, soulless bastard who has been repeatedly told that he has to make his intentions *seem* good so that people will go along with them. After a 7 1/2 year unbroken stream of lies, that really should be obvious to a skunk.
He should be taken for a drag and then shot out of a cannon--into another cannon. - Iztikeit, on 07/18/2008, -0/+8That's exactly what he's saying, good call.
- inactive, on 07/18/2008, -6/+14yes, but what does he think about Doom3?
- jimmoses, on 07/18/2008, -2/+9Next up: Mother Teresa calls Bush a "skank ho".
- inactive, on 07/18/2008, -1/+8Explain.. what exactly has he done that was wrong?
- Iztikeit, on 07/18/2008, -2/+9Do you know anything about this particular Lama?
- SQLserver, on 07/18/2008, -2/+9The Dalai Lama is serious business.
- apetrie, on 07/19/2008, -0/+6I respect him for HIS writing, simple as that.
I'm sure there are a lot of valid issues to take with the Dalai Lama, I certainly think being born into a position does not make him special, but your statement about Christianity and Tibetan Buddhism are the "same *****" just shows that you are truthfully quite ignorant about Buddhism. Think its ***** if you like, but claiming they are fundamentally the same besides the dressing is completely wrong. - veijeri, on 07/18/2008, -2/+8Perception of reality is the entire basis of his religion.
- dafragsta, on 07/18/2008, -1/+7You mean like every other major religious leader?
- HenryJonesJr, on 07/18/2008, -3/+9Your questioning of his intentions, rather than that of his policy, makes you no better than Republicans that question someone's patriotism. Drop the Bush is evil and eats kittens stuff already. Just leave it as a failed Presidency.
- inactive, on 07/18/2008, -0/+6whenever you are angry with or without justification at anyone you are inwardly 'armed'
- vroom171, on 07/18/2008, -0/+6i've never understood that winamp slogan. I dont think i ever will.
- fmello, on 07/18/2008, -2/+7Pwned by the Dalai Lama!!!
- inactive, on 07/18/2008, -0/+5That's like saying I'd rather shoot myself with a .45 than a 9mm
- RobotBuddha, on 07/18/2008, -3/+8I always wince a bit when people take note of a single word from someone who's not a native speaker of that language.
- Noein, on 07/18/2008, -1/+6"How about Nobody should throw stones. That's crappy behavior."
- n0xz, on 07/18/2008, -1/+6Damn, that is a nice thing to say to an idiot of the century. I should rephrase that Bush lacks a brain and his head is filled with flatulent that whatever is sputtered out of his mouth is not difference than this ***** and I wonder if he even knows the difference between the two orifices.
- JeremyGrieves, on 07/18/2008, -0/+5I love to see the attacks from the crazies who don't even know what Buddhism entails.
- wonderbriefs, on 07/18/2008, -0/+5New England's football team?
- chaos7, on 07/18/2008, -1/+5very wise words!
- kaihh, on 07/19/2008, -1/+5How old are you?
- inactive, on 07/18/2008, -4/+8Bush is controlled by the Patriots
- parax, on 07/19/2008, -0/+4He can't criticize China because the Indian government has threatened his status as being welcome in their country if he says things which could jeopardize India's relations with China. The Chinese may not be able to act directly against him, but they've made no bones about exhausting every bit of foreign influence they have to make the Dalai Lama's life as unpleasant as possible.
The Dalai Lama also does not want "power again". He long ago gave up the idea of having a free an independent Tibet. He said he's willing to settle for his people not being tortured, starved, and otherwise abused. - parax, on 07/19/2008, -0/+4@TsuruchiBrian
Is that some kind of revisionist history they teach in China? You're not the first person I've seen on Digg describe Tibetan Buddhism as some kind of medieval torturous theocracy, where the monks horde power and lord it over people like some cross between Ghengis Khan and Caligula. What is the source of this historic account of Tibet?
The Tibetans, in their own words, have always loved the Buddhist monks. The monks didn't scour people for resources and tax them like slaves and surfs. The monks always lived on the goodwill of the people, they ate what they were given. The monks' status as rulers has always been illusory and perhaps not understood by the outside world. Tibetans saw the monks as their leaders because they were the ones who Tibetans respected most, not because they assumed some control over the populace. The monks have never had any political, economic, or military power over the people, which is why they had no power to resist China. Tibet had no military force, the Chinese conquering Tibet is comparable to what it would be like for the US to invade an Amish community.
Where did you get the idea that the monks were a "ruling class" that tortured those who were unwilling to submit to their will? Is there a book I can read about that in? - UltX, on 07/18/2008, -1/+5"First I was blind, now I can't see *****."
- archiesteel, on 07/18/2008, -0/+4Who says he finds these things important? Should he purposefully avoid them just to make you happy? Wouldn't that be actually giving those things importance?
- inactive, on 07/18/2008, -0/+4The President and Dalai Lama should sit down and have a long talk, followed by a series of deep meditation sessions and have tea afterwards.
- spect3r, on 07/18/2008, -1/+5I believe he quoted:
"People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness. Just because they’re not on your road doesn’t mean they’ve gotten lost. However, in Doom3 I was lost the entire time because all the ***** lights were out!" - jevaun, on 07/18/2008, -0/+4I stand corrected. :-)
"That dude's wearin' a dress, and that other dude's a moron!"
Everybody wins. -
