- bradc158, on 02/21/2008, -44/+678Excellent article. Her conclusion after ALL of the research she did:
"Finally, Obama appears to have a better record last year in the Senate on getting his bills and amendments passed than does Clinton. I've listed everything that passed the Senate for each them at the end in boxes. But check out Thomas.loc.gov for yourself. I may have missed something.
In my eyes Obama is the superior choice in every way. He cares about more of the issues that matter to me. Kids and health care are important but so is the issue of global warming, on which Clinton introduced not a single bill last year."
I urge anyone who still thinks Obama is all talk and no substance to go read this article. The author of this article did a LOT of research on the US Senate activity of both Senators Obama and Clinton. - missingnoh4x, on 02/21/2008, -28/+379What a damn misleading headline.
- aaroh, on 02/21/2008, -22/+277damn that was a lot of research, well done to the author
- arajan, on 02/21/2008, -29/+238Please dig this excellent piece of research and get it to the front page. The headline is really misleading. It should be " Obama - More Substance Than Hype"
- pintomp3, on 02/21/2008, -10/+159i'm a kucinich supporter and didn't see much difference between hillary and obama at first. then i found out he voted for banning the use of cluster bombs while she did. she voted for the kyle/lieberman bill which he didn't. i also researched their foreign policy:
http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/pages/rosnerPage.jhtm ...
obama is clearly better than hillary. - ahvi, on 02/21/2008, -18/+158I think what amazed me most about this article is how many bills of senator Clinton's lacked a co-sponsor.
- vishcool1, on 02/21/2008, -29/+162Damn this needs to get to the front page! There aren't enough front-page articles detailing Obama's experience. Digg and spread it around!!!
- Evolutuon, on 02/21/2008, -16/+141Was the title misleading to attract Obama doubters? Smart tactic.
- edwartica, on 02/21/2008, -2/+96She not only did the research herself, but she also gave us direct links to her research so the reader doesn't have to take her word for it. A lot of journalists could really learn a few things from this woman.
- dvntrsnsltd, on 02/21/2008, -25/+115This article was going to be my first submission to Digg because I think more people should read it. Dugg for getting it in earlier than I did!
- Vektuz, on 02/21/2008, -4/+87I came to the same conclusion after examining both their voting records and bill introduction.
When I first read this article I thought it was going to be anti-Obama but it turned out to be very well researched.
Basically, in a nutshell: Hillary submits more bills to congress, but almost none of them pass, and they're mostly focused on mothers and healthcare... but Obama gets more bills actually passed, and his have to do with everything under the sun.
Being able to actually do what it takes to get your bills passed is, well, kinda important. - Vektuz, on 02/21/2008, -6/+89I thought it was kinda cool. And has a double meaning.
Don't buy into the hype - makes you think its an anti-obama article. It turns out that instead, its a pro-obama article thats based on research, which shows that you don't have to rely on hype. You can rely on facts instead. The author did all the footwork, and even showed sources where the information came from. - steelersfan7roe, on 02/21/2008, -22/+93EDUCATE YOURSELF. READ THIS ARTICLE.
- Vektuz, on 02/21/2008, -6/+70This is not actually true. But also not surprising that someone would say it. They're getting desperate.
- Senturion, on 02/21/2008, -13/+72Holy misleading headlines Batman!
- sockpuppets, on 02/21/2008, -2/+57You're using three exclamation points in a two exclamation point zone. Please use caution.
- pintomp3, on 02/21/2008, -6/+54you are the one making the allegations. the burden of proof is on you.
- jhuckabee, on 02/21/2008, -12/+59Ok, Mrs. HRC, now tell me who's REALLY about solutions!
- edwartica, on 02/21/2008, -5/+48Nod, I too am a Kucinich Supporter, and really think that Obama would indeed be the best of the remaining candidates. The more I read about him, the more I like him.
- pintomp3, on 02/21/2008, -4/+44typo: i meant to say she voted against banning cluster bomb use. more about that here:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-rees/clinton-o ... - pintomp3, on 02/21/2008, -4/+43the fact that it made the front page indicates people actually RTFA sometimes.
- TooSquirrely, on 02/21/2008, -1/+39RTFA...It's more focused on bills that the author cares about not necessarily what is most important.
- SOhp101, on 02/21/2008, -12/+43Damn, I was hoping to read a pro-Clinton news bit since I thought I might have been favoring him over her too much.
- digggggggggg, on 02/21/2008, -9/+40The article focuses on the bills that Obama and Clinton introduced. It doesn't mention what they voted for. Just thought I'd point that out.
- pintomp3, on 02/21/2008, -4/+34As many as 98 per cent of victims of cluster bombs over the past three decades have been civilians, a third of them children, a report has disclosed.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/politics/s ... - astx813, on 02/21/2008, -2/+32Exactly what they say they are: resolutions. Not everything is bills & big important healthcare, war, budget, etc stuff.
- inajeep, on 02/21/2008, -5/+35Ah I see, those who are pro-Clinton side see this title and automatically click and read it. It's a pro-Obama article instead. Very clever. A little deceptive and misleading(the title that is). I'd did read the article as i am undecided since the venom I read spewing in Clinton's direction seems overdone and without merit in some cases. I associate it with the Ron Paul fan boys although I have a higher opinion on Ron Paul than most of his supporters at this point.
Obama is a hell of a speaker, intelligent, well-thought out, likable and charismatic. Something the current admin lacks. I can really understand why he is popular now. This point of this article was the one thing I kept hearing from the pro-Clinton side. What has he done? As I said, I did read it and liked what I read and will forward it to my pro-Clinton wife to see what she has to say on the matter. I did have one point of contention. I didn't find the entire truth in that article. Grassroots mom ( a name that immediately rouses suspicion on my part) incorrectly states that a lot of Clinton's resolutions do not have co-sponsors. I did not find that the case, many of them did. She also had some resolutions not mentioned in the article that I did like. - magsman, on 02/21/2008, -18/+47Thorough research. Read the last paragraph.
"Obama is a leader. With bigger majorities in Congress, much of his agenda should sail through. He can inspire this country to change course on so many things, from health care to global warming, where attitudes have to be changed first. I remember Bill Clinton's endless laundry lists of small, focus group approved initiatives. For those who say Hillary will not govern like Bill did, I respond that the people who were doing the market testing of his proposed policies were Dick Morris, of course, and Mark Penn, who is now running Hillary's campaign.
It's Obama for me! I just sent him $100. My first donation this election.
Yes, We Can!" - stonewaljacksn, on 02/21/2008, -0/+25The headline should be an unbiased comparison of the the two candidates, but that would never get to the front page. Regardless, it's good to finally see a political article on digg that isnt about some superficial anti-hillary *****.
- bunki8, on 02/21/2008, -15/+39Would digg this article twice if I could. People need to read this.
- spudlyo, on 02/21/2008, -2/+25Everyone has an agenda, get used to it. My agenda is to see how many diggs my snarky comments can get. Later I intend to perform sadistic acts on stuffed animals.
- unearth, on 02/21/2008, -4/+27Do you even know how the legislative process works?
- freepizza48, on 02/21/2008, -4/+27Even though the title was a bit misleading.
- The_Wallbanger, on 02/21/2008, -3/+25The author was kind enough to provide links to the Library of Congress. Perhaps you'd like to do some research and get back to us?
- jackrabbit, on 02/21/2008, -6/+28The title is misleading, but the article is solid. I admit, I wish everyone (myself included) did this kind of candidate research.
- natersleev, on 02/21/2008, -2/+24right, because the $400 billion deficit every year by our current president is fiscally responsible.
- Coven, on 02/21/2008, -4/+25What a coincidence! So are YOU!
- PDAIsAOk, on 02/21/2008, -0/+21thumbs up for not resubmitting it like most people do
- OUberLord, on 02/21/2008, -1/+22Anyone who feels the need to type out the full "Barack Hussein Obama" of his name is either A) trying to convey that he is somehow similiar / related to Saddam, B) trying to make a point by reinforcing his full name, or C) an idiot that actually *does* believe A. Anyone want to wager where TherealObadiah stands?
- acroyear2, on 02/21/2008, -2/+22Did you read the article? No action? Are you illiterate? Oh wait, close. You're neo-conservative.
- noseeme, on 02/21/2008, -10/+29I've been looking for an article with comparisons like this. It helped further justify my support for Obama. I do like to steer away from blind bias though, so I'd like to see an article written by someone in a similar position who is supporting Clinton.
- neognostic, on 02/21/2008, -3/+22People like to convince themselves that we are the policeman of the world, we are not. We are the bully in the world. We use superior size, strength and money to bully other countries kill their people, and the only people who benefit are the members of the American military and industrial complex.
- turkings, on 02/21/2008, -12/+30This was going to be my first article submission to Digg as well. I really think the media has focused so much on the candidates personalities and not enough on substance, what have they actually accomplished. This article is a must read, great research!
- Logicexe, on 02/21/2008, -6/+24wicketr5 is worse than DailyKos. He is extremely biased and I wouldn't trust anything that came out of his mouth.
Does this mean I win? No of course not! I'm just making an ad hominem attack, but wait a second, that means that you're making an ad hominem attack too! Aren't logical fallacies fun! - aliengoods, on 02/21/2008, -0/+17I don't remember a black president who brought the country together in that movie, but I could be wrong.
- JinnRikki, on 02/21/2008, -9/+26Why didn't Digg show the whole title of the diary, "I Refuse to Buy into the Obama Hype (now a supporter)"?
I'm beginning to wonder about the agenda here. - mrsteveman1, on 02/21/2008, -3/+19You're a moron
- unjustend, on 02/21/2008, -1/+16This poster speaks truth.
- Anzat, on 02/21/2008, -7/+22Obama's a professor of constitutional law. You're some moron on digg. I'll stick to Obama's judgment, thanks.
- bunk, on 02/21/2008, -10/+25Bottom line is Hillary had the chance to prove she was a leader by going against the grain and doing what's right by not voting for the war in Iraq. She failed her country in what is the defining moment for this country this decade. Now she pays.
