- LadyAmerica, on 08/13/2008, -2/+13QUOTE from article:
Inside are dozens are metal cages. They are made out of chain link fence material and topped by rolls of barbed wire.
[…]
Each of the fenced areas is about 5 yards by 5 yards and there is a lock on the door. A sign on the wall reads "Warning! Electric stun devices used in this facility."
[…]
"Very bare bones and very reminiscent of a political prisoner camp or a concentration camp," said Zoe Williams of Code Pink.
[…]
"That's how you treat cattle," said Adam Jung of the group Tent State University. "You showed the sign where it said stun gun in use and you just change the word gun for bolt and it's a meat processing plant."
[…]
The plans were to keep this lockup a secret, at least for now.
The American Civil Liberties Union says it will ask the City of Denver how prisoners will get access to food and water, bathrooms, telephones, plus medical care, and if there will be a place to meet with attorneys.

Welcome to Democrat-ruled (i.e. silence-the-opposition) America
Welcome to Democrat-ruled (i.e. police state) America
Welcome to Democrat-ruled (i.e. Marxi-fascist) America
Wake up folks! - detokaal, on 08/13/2008, -3/+13"We're concerned about how that's going to be utilized by people who will be potentially disruptive." Heaven forbid we have any protest about American policy in this country. Shut up or spend a few days in a cage without food, water or an attorney. I thought Democrats were against this type of treatment. /sigh
- ImperialRome, on 08/13/2008, -3/+10Then don't get arrested. Problem solved.
Oh, sorry, I forgot. Getting arrested is how Democrats voice their grievances, because they are the professionally aggrieved perpetual victim party.
If this is Gitmo light, then perhaps they guards could help the Dhimmicrats to bow and pray to Obama by posting an arrow, that points out the current direction of Obama at all times. - michl2077, on 08/13/2008, -3/+9Wow - getting scarily close to looking like the Chinese Re-education Labor Camps.
- zelig, on 08/13/2008, -2/+7Screw Code Pink. What do the protesters want, a hotel suite at the Four Seasons?
- CommonSense2k8, on 08/13/2008, -0/+5It's the devil's way now
There is no way out
You can SCREAM and you can shout
It is too late now
Because...
You have not been!
Payin' attention
Payin' attention - gedden, on 08/13/2008, -0/+4looks like 3863 steele st to me I used to work in the area
- IVillageIdiot, on 08/13/2008, -3/+7I hope we'll be allowed to throw peanuts and popcorn at these monkeys!
Fund Raising Idea:
Install cameras and a pneumatic popcorn cannons! Logon to website, pay with your Visa, 10 bucks=5 shots, you get your pick of the various canons you want to use (you'll have to wait in line of course) each one will place into range the choicest idiots that you’ll want to nail! Perhaps an overhead water balloon bomber would yield $10.00 a pop! Maybe a Catsup Uzi!!!!...
I can't wait to see these smelly, hippie, communist morons getting stomped by the Police, just like in '68!
The only sad part is 1/3 or so of these guys will be paid "protestor" types and they really don't have any "communist" inclination per se, they're actually capitalist trying to make a living. Not a bright way to make a living of course, but we can't all have the good jobs. Someone will have to take the crap jobs, and this is one of them... kind of like the folks you see on the side of the road waving furniture sales signs and dressed in rubber chicken suits. I feel bad for them, but it is a paying job and that is a lot better that taking the handouts from the Man, you've got to start somewhere....
On the good side, the Cops will get a boatload of practice and overtime. Though, I really wouldn't want to be working the jail, the seething stench will be unbearable. I hope someone thought of installing some large exhaust fans at the warehouse.
I wonder if there are EPA guidelines for the proper exhausting of hippie cages??? - CommonSense2k8, on 08/13/2008, -1/+4left or right, both are the same when there is no other opposition
- zizzybaloobah, on 08/13/2008, -2/+5Just as I've always suspected: the abuse and decline of American civil liberties will not cease just because a different party is in charge. That kind of power is addictive and will not be yielded quickly or easily.
- CommonSense2k8, on 08/13/2008, -0/+3what about my 200 dollars?
- UnFriendlyFire, on 08/13/2008, -4/+7Don't like what the government is doing? Go to jail.
- Christianptriot, on 08/14/2008, -0/+2All Gitmo references aside, what other way would ANY city or police department have to contain hundreds of people who get arrested for breaking laws? I'm not talking about carrying Hillary signs, or yelling and protesting what the Dems want to do - I mean real laws, like assault and battery on police; obstructing traffic or obstructing the police in conducting their official, lawful duties, etc.
You DO have to wonder, though, how many people they already plan to arrest for ANY reason they can... - rebrad, on 08/13/2008, -1/+3Did I read this right? The party that is supposed to deliver us from oppression and violations of rights is resorting to the same tactics that the Bush administration is using with foreign terrorist that want to kill us. I guess you can look at this as a matter of fairness (If it's good enough for terrorist it's good enough for citizens of the United States), but I wonder if the Democrats are not just showing their true stripes. After all when I listen to them I never hear anything good about this country. All I hear how bad our employers are and how bad those who do not support them are and how both are trying to destroy the environment and prevent those who refuse to contribute from their fair share.
- motivatedmama, on 08/14/2008, -0/+2What the hell do you propose they DO with hundreds of protesters if things get nasty? Put them up at the Hilton? Talk about looking for something to bitch about.
They could probably put enough protesters in one of these to equal all the nuts who will be attending the Republican convention. Cry me a river. - nlite10, on 08/13/2008, -3/+4Gitmo on the Plate Location.

This is where the county used to store the voting machines. They removed all the machines and started putting up fences with the “help” of the Youth Offenders Work Program.
Two days ago they loaded in all the riot gear.
This facility has minimal toilets (no more than 2 toilets & 2 urinals), NO showers, NO Air conditioning or swamp coolers. Still contains asbestos insulation. Internal temperatures can get extremely hot without some sort of cooling or cross breeze.
This is an enterprise zone surrounded by various businesses. It is not suitable for housing humans for any amount of time. - wishninja, on 08/13/2008, -2/+2Actually I do not think the party is doing the work. It looks like the state and city doing all the work to me. As one neo-con forum troll put it the Dems have been silent. They are silent partners letting the city and state run the show. All of this is pretty much standard procedures for a convention like this one so don't get too bent out of shape.
Look for real problems like them banning or preventing press from reporting stories of police busts and infiltration of protest groups with the intent of starting a riot. - TonyStark, on 08/13/2008, -2/+2Just like the interrogation room under the White House. All stadiums have holding areas for unruly people.
