DISGUSTING: Corrupt Democrats Cheat To Give Illegal Aliens Welfare
youtube.com — Absolutely despicable piece of video - now we all know that most of Congress works for La Raza, and doesn't give a damn about America. Our taxes are going to the welfare of people who have broken the law, and our paid representatives care not for Justice. Money is their motive.

- Tilon, on 10/10/2007, -8/+19Yeah, they're not too hot, but to call them the 'worst Congress ever' right off the back of the last one is an incredibly disingenous and retarded statement.
The last 6 years were the WORST governing in American history. PERIOD.- shawnbttu, on 10/10/2007, -4/+7There is Illegal Immigration and "Illegal Immigration". They are not the same. The below is a 100% true story of a very good friend of mine
He is here illegally
He has a good job
He overpays his taxes and he never files a return (so he pays the govt. more then he should)
He has his own insurance bothe health and vehicular
He pays tax on all his consumer products
His only crime is he does not want to go back to his home country that is a poor third world nation with no future and no jobs. He wants his children and his family to have a better life here. Would you throw him out?
As I said, there is illegal immigration and "Illegal Immigration" and they are NOT the same. For every lazy welfare illegals out there, there is a hard working illegal who simply wants something better.- brad3378, on 11/21/2007, -0/+1Why doesn't he become a legal citizen so he can vote?
- cmapes2, on 10/16/2007, -0/+0Sorry but I live in a town with a lot of immigrants and I strongly disagree with your statement that "For every lazy welfare illegals out there, there is a hard working illegal who simply wants something better."
In concept it sure does sound nice, but in my experience that has most definately NOT been the case. Since we are talking about personal experiences, one woman that lives down the street is an illegal immigrant. She doesn't have a job, she drives her old early 90's chevrolet recklessly and I have seen her run lights and disobey traffic laws all the time, undoubtedly has no insurance, and has this attitude that she doesn't need to obey the law because the owes the state nothing.
She isn't the first I have seen around here with that mentality.
Sadly, if every immigrant had the hard working mentality then there wouldn't be an issue against immigration in the first place.
Oh, and next time you don't need to refer to yourself as a "very good friend of mine".

- Terr01, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6Not the first time this kind of thing has happened. Can't we just properly automate the voting system to make the total blind until the end?
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2004/07/09/MNGQC7IV231.DTL- missinglink, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Not the same. A vote in the House is live until the gavel falls, closing it. There are minimum times (i.e. 15 minute vote) under which a vote cannot close in order to give members time to get to the chamber to cast their vote, but there is no maximum time so conceivably a vote can stay open indefinitely. But voting after the clock stopped - after the gavel fell - is way out of bounds. It's like scoring a touchdown after the clock runs out to win a football game.
- Terr01, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Well, some argue the gavel fell too early, but note the votes afterwards were people moving against the amendment.
I'd just argue there may be merit to voting "blind". That is, no voters know the total until it's done. Whether or not that will result in better results, I'm not sure--but it would certainly remove a certain level of post-vote spin manipulation. ("I didn't vote for that! See? I didn't!)

- Pfhreak, on 11/10/2007, -9/+9Subscribing to a particular political ideology shouldn't mean you give the politicians of the same ideology a free pass. That's the main problem with the Bush apologists, they don't ever take an honest, rational look at what he says and does just because he's "on the same team". Which makes them blind to the building anti-conservative backlash that he's helping generate. Not that they're the only ones prone to this (consider cramtod below, who gives examples of Republicans pulling this stunt in the past, as if that makes it OK for the Democrats to do it now).

If you like fresh vegetables, you should be happy with this vote.- rebrad, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Those who employ illegals should get time in prison. The price of vegetables be damned. We are raising the cost of vegetables by demanding alcohol as a replacement for gasoline. I'm tired of hearing that lame argument to justify criminal practices.
- wishninja, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2If you are not happy about illegals then don't support them. Grow your own garden, buy from only illegal free local farmers. The free market can take care of this we do not need the help of the government. Like the organic produce, like the G.M. free produce start supporting your local farmer that has 100% illegal free produce, beef...ect only. If enough people ask for it a nitch market will develop and free market capitalism will win. With know jobs the illegals will go home.

- jcm267, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2point taken. But I was thnking that while Mexicans can be seen as a unique people just based on their physical appearance, Americans are more diverse. Would you consider Asian Indian to be a race or a nationality?

- ngmcs8203, on 10/11/2007, -25/+10I'm not part of The Raza and do not support illegals getting unfair advantages, but if they come to this country, get a taxpayers id and pay their taxes and debts just like any other American... why are they not eligible for the same government assistance that every other citizen has? If your so against illegals getting government assistance, tell me what you will do with 12+ million people... How much do you think it would cost us to export that many people? I can almost guarantee it would not be cheap, and definitely not easy. For those illegals that just happened to come here illegally but in are law abiding and paying taxes... what makes them any different than you and I except for their citizenship status? Criminals are criminals whether they are illegal or citizens, but not all illegals are criminals.
- DaveV, on 11/10/2007, -4/+28If they are illegal aliens, then they are breaking the law. That makes them criminals.
They are not getting a taxpayer ID, and they are not paying their fair share. They should stay in whatever country they are coming from and make it better, rather than coming to the U.S., breaking U.S. law, and trashing the U.S.- geometry, on 10/10/2007, -9/+7You are wrong to a degree. First from what I understand this legislation was for a bill that would stop children of illegal immigrants from receiving health care not something like trying to give them welfare money or something like that. I was like you before, I thought illegal aliens were good for nothing losers that sucked the life out of this country. After growing up a little and looking into the real facts it turns out that the vast majority do pay taxes, all be it with somebody else's social security number. They pay taxes all year and if they were here legally they'd likely get most of what they put in back, since most work for very low wages and fall on the very low end of the tax bracket. So they actually contribute more to taxes than somebody here legally doing the same job.
And about trashing the US, thats just an ignorant comment. I can take you to any white trash trailer park and show you that good old Americans can trash this country as much as any illegal immigrant. - Tiak, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Give me your tired, your poor,

Being in the US illegally makes them criminals? Do all of them kill, rape and steal? Trying to earn a living because our government basically stepped on them is a crime? Trying to earn a living is a crime???

THINK before you type!
"Why don't they earn their living in Mexico?"... Are you kidding me?... Yes, I was kidding. But even then... Mexico IS a developed country if you go by the HDI.
Is Mexico so corrupt that you can't possibly buy a piece of land to start a small farm on? Exactly how hard is it to find jobs in factories that have been and are being built because of NAFTA?
Do I blame these people for wanting a better life in America? No, I blame American businesses and individuals (the people who hire illegal workers at, say, home depot) who give these people jobs and thus a reason to be here. That being said, just because they don't have it as good in Mexico doesn't mean that we should be welcoming each and every migrant who wades across the Rio Grande. Why not take in the world's truly needy from Haiti and Africa? Compared to America Mexico might suck, but in the grand scheme of things Mexico isn't that bad of a place to be.

In 1998, he voted to allow US firms to lay off Americans to replace them with foreigners.- bumb1ebee, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1There are many reasons why Ron Paul votes against certain bills, even if he agrees with the overall message, he may not agree with the pork spending is attached to it or if the method used to accomplish the provisions are unconstitutional. I'm really sick of people misrepresenting his immigration policies. Stop assuming that all bills are clean and great just because you agree with the basic idea. Ron Paul opposes amnesty and open borders:
"Border Security and Immigration Reform The talk must stop. We must secure our borders now. A nation without secure borders is no nation at all. It makes no sense to fight terrorists abroad when our own front door is left unlocked. This is my six point plan:
Physically secure our borders and coastlines. We must do whatever it takes to control entry into our country before we undertake complicated immigration reform proposals. Enforce visa rules. Immigration officials must track visa holders and deport anyone who overstays their visa or otherwise violates U.S. law. This is especially important when we recall that a number of 9/11 terrorists had expired visas. No amnesty. Estimates suggest that 10 to 20 million people are in our country illegally. That’s a lot of people to reward for breaking our laws. No welfare for illegal aliens. Americans have welcomed immigrants who seek opportunity, work hard, and play by the rules. But taxpayers should not pay for illegal immigrants who use hospitals, clinics, schools, roads, and social services. End birthright citizenship. As long as illegal immigrants know their children born here will be citizens, the incentive to enter the U.S. illegally will remain strong. Pass true immigration reform. The current system is incoherent and unfair. But current reform proposals would allow up to 60 million more immigrants into our country, according to the Heritage Foundation. This is insanity. Legal immigrants from all countries should face the same rules and waiting periods. "

- cramtod, on 10/10/2007, -19/+9No "better party"?
A democrat would not have appointed Alito or Roberts to the supreme court. Men who both understand the constitution but have contempt for the document.
A democrat would not have appointed Ascroft or Gonzalez as Attorney General. Both have no concept of civil liberties.
Are the democrats a good party? Far from it. However they _are_ the "better party". But compared to the republicans, that's not saying much. Usually they aren't this clumsy about going against the will of the people. This just shows that they will ram something through that poll after poll (as Lue Dobbs mentions) shows that Americans do not want to support illegal immigrants - they don't even want illegals here in the first place!
- PixelVision, on 10/10/2007, -10/+4dugg down for using the term "liberal media". You may be right about illegal immigration, but don't use idiotic phrases as it will hurt your credibility.

- Kewlduderules, on 11/10/2007, -18/+177Ok, I just watched the entire video and as a person of Latino background, I have to say (as much as I hate to) the Repuglicans are correct. The Democrats did an illegal revote after the gavel went down. Once the gavel goes down that is it and you cannot change your vote. Period!
This should send a message to everyone in this country that all of them are equally deceiving and corrupt.
This country is in desperate need of a third party that looks out for the needs of all Americans.- jcm267, on 10/10/2007, -11/+14Are you saying that you're in favor of entitlements for illegals just not the tactic the Democrats used?
- Kewlduderules, on 11/10/2007, -8/+36As for the entitlements, I am against them. I think we should create every incentive for any illegal immigrant regardless if they are from Asia, Latin America, or Europe to go back to their country of origin. That means denying them services here including welfare, employment, housing, education, and in most cases health care (the only exceptions emergency room care and vaccinations against disease).
- cawpin, on 11/10/2007, -6/+22I'm glad to see a person of Latin decent voice such an opinion. I live in Arizona right now and it pisses me off to no end when all the illegals scream about us not wanting Mexicans to come in to the US. I don't care where you come from or why you're coming in. The only thing that matters to me is that you do it the way you are supposed to. Just because you came from a country of corrupt police and breaking the law was commonplace doesn't mean it is ok here. Also, learn to speak ***** English. If I went to middle Mexico I'm sure I wouldn't get by not speaking Spanish.
- phaed, on 10/10/2007, -11/+7Yes you could get by speaking English. Most of the locals would still not understand what you're saying and will want you out of their country. Call you an idiot for not being able to learn fluent Spanish in the three years you've been living there, and wish you weren't living in their country. oops. My mistake, Thats what they do in the United States.
- joe7845, on 10/10/2007, -8/+1Because you're already in the US and you really could care less if others get to enter, right?
- Tiak, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1I find it a bit strange how libertarians cry about how certain laws are unjust left and right, shout civil disobedience every now and them, claim that there is nothing wrong with marijuana, then, the second a law works to their advantage, claim that it's wrong to not do things "the right way" according to the law...
I hate to break this to you, but federal restriction of immigration isn't mentioned once in the constitution unless you do some rather obvious bending of the words to suit your purposes.

But the question is.. Do ever eat more than you have to? Have you ever bought anything you didn't need? Do you spend 100% of your free time helping out those in need? I'd guess no, since you're here on digg complaining about how little everyone else cares about the world.
Honestly, with the problems we see in Haiti and Africa today, you'd have to be a pretty uncaring person to waste your time bitching on digg rather than actually doing something. You're obviously using more resources than you need to, and all I know about you is that you use a computer! I can imagine how much more wasteful you are. Do you own a car, take a bus, or (the sensible solution) walk? Do you buy your clothes new, or used? Do you have a garden? Do you have a TV set? Do you have a mattress? Do you eat at restaurants at all? You know, there's usually some food in the dumpsters with food in them out back....
If you expect us to provide for illegals you are basically expecting us to provide for anyone and everyone, which is just insane. So honestly, you'd better put your lifestyle where your mouth is. - Eivo, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2Hello Pot, meet Kettle.

- Kewlduderules, on 11/10/2007, -5/+15I do sympathize with illegal immigrants and my heart really does pour out to them, seriously! The problem is that people view the United States as a country with infinite resources. We don't! Moreover, the United States is not and should never be in a position to act like the 'Salvation Army' for the rest of the world. It is unrealistic and it hurts everyone else other than the elite.
- joe7845, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3The US spends like it has infinite resources. Just look at Iraq.
- Tiak, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2You somehow got dugg down, despite the fact that we are indeed spending like we have limitless resources... Our debt has increased 17.5% each year Bush has been in office... Thanks to the nature of exponential growth this means if we got 8 more years of someone like him, the amount of debt to be paid back each year would exceed our GDP.
- BlackBob, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Does the fact that our leaders are going against the will of the people and wasting unlimited resources in Iraq mean that they should also go against the will of the people and provide unlimited resources to take care of people who are here illegally?

- norman619, on 11/10/2007, -2/+9If Mexico wants us to provide welfare to their people then they should at least have the decency to become part of the US. I mean if we are going to support them why not go all the way? They have loads of natural resources we could put to better use than they have. Apply for statehood.
- joe7845, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I have not heard anything about the Mexican government asking for welfare. In fact, is there even a big movement among illegal immigrants in regards to welfare benefits?
- norman619, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3What do you call sending their peopel overhere with maps? We support the Mexican government. If we were able to stop illegal immigration from Mexico they would collapse. If you don't belive me look into the numbers. It's easily available online for you to see. This is the reason the Mexican government does not want us to fix this problem. For them is a huge financial crutch they can not do without.
- joe7845, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I have not heard anything about the Mexican government asking for welfare. In fact, is there even a big movement among illegal immigrants in regards to welfare benefits?
- maggiesue0303, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0You say we need a "third party to look out for the need of all americans". Well, I agree but that isn't possible when we are in a position like we were right before the civil war. On almost EVERY issue our country is split 50/50. I wish we could just create a third party, but even in that one there would be factions and subgroups. No one can agree. This country is going to split 50/50 soon if we don't do something though.

And why isn't this in the video section?- omarciddo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Because there's no political section in the video section. The video section it seems was made purely for lols.
- luskin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7The thing is, there's no way to get a party that all Americans can get behind. What we need to do is to hold our own representatives more accountable for these despicable actions.
- omarciddo, on 11/10/2007, -3/+26Finally, another Latino who shares my opinion. I'd like to say this. My sister works for the Department of Social Services in downtown LA and to me the whole notion that illegals should get the same welfare opportunites as citizens is BS to me. Every day she'll tell us about how illegals will tell her flat out that they don't have papers or otherwise lie between their teeth about their status and conditions. What's worse is she's *not allowed* to use that in determining welfare qualification. On top of that, she's been reprimanded for *not giving enough* welfare!
One time, a woman came in saying "oh, I'm homeless, I don't have papers, I need money for school". When my sister called back about two weeks later to approve her request, the answering machine said "Oh, Hi...I'm sorry I'm vacationing in Miami right now I'll be back in a couple of weeks!". It's ridiculous how illegals are getting money that should be given to Americans first. To be honest, I'm against welfare altogether, but as long as it's there, priority should be given to citizens.- SkaGoblin, on 11/10/2007, -6/+1Wait, if she was homeless, what number did call her at?
- omarciddo, on 11/10/2007, -1/+5Cell phone. My point is she lied right between her teeth.
- SkaGoblin, on 11/10/2007, -2/+2But why wouldn't she take her cell phone with her.
Don't think I'm calling you a liar, it's just this seems too perfect, like if someone wanted to create a story which highlights the worst welfare cheats have done, this would be it.
Maybe I'm just bored at work, but something just doesn't seem right here- Suspected, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Not sure why Skagoblin was voted down. He brings a good point. I'm not too keen on the idea of welfare for illegal immigrants (I would rather they get food stamps), but statistics show that the vast majority on welfare don't stay on welfare; also, in many (if not all) states, there is a time limit for how long one may stay on welfare. The welfare system often works, and it's not fair to just use the few example of when it does not work.
- SkaGoblin, on 11/10/2007, -6/+1Wait, if she was homeless, what number did call her at?

- PixelVision, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4The country should be like that without any changes to the states. The federal government is out of control and should be downsized immensely. Give the states the control that they should have. Repeal all federal laws and allow the states to make the laws if the population wishes. In a land of 300million, democracy needs to be regionalized to give its best results.

- mal1964, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7The Latino vote is up for sale Rep tried to buy it two months ago. now the Dem are placing their bid. who ever wins that vote will be in the white house for a while.
- mal1964, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1But remember they work hard and are very smart, they will organize a powerful force. They will sell their vote for maybe ten to twenty years but sooner than you think they will use their vote wisely.
- netant, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2It looked to me like there was a level of confusion in tallying votes when the gavel went down (and changing of votes seconds afterwards). The Democrats claim the guy erroneously gavelled the vote closed too early. More important, they also offered to hold a revote on the bill. Makes sense, if the vote tally appears to be totally FUBAR. Its sad that the Republicans prefer to be drama queens rather than rectify an apparently chaotic vote session.

All they've done since being elected is throw around idle threats of impeachment and try to put ***** like this into law. Who even recommended that this be voted on? Why was this even brought up as an issue. There is no reason for taxpayers to be giving welfare checks to illegals. The illegals will then go on to have 12 legal children to fatten their welfare checks and put more Americans below the poverty line from taxes. The welfare system is abused badly enough by our own citizen. We don't need any more. Impeach Bush, Cheney, Gonzo, and the whole Democratic congress. This country is going to hell so fast.

I'm not saying Dems are better than Reps, they both have their issues. Who knows what the state of affairs would be if Kerry was in office. But I voted for him because he WASN'T Bush... and I stand by that vote. I also voted for Gore. Not sure how he would have done, that was a toss-up really. As for this issue - The plurality of posters here on Digg come from families who were once immigrants. A little compassion for our fellow man, I would think, is in order. Before you label me a bleeding heart, know that I do not advocate putting illegals on the 'public dole' permanently. - Smurph0404, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2You're wrong. We can't just "let them pay taxes," that would require the government to grant them automatic amnesty for the crime of illegal immigration. We can't take their money and say "thanks, but you still shouldn't be here." What they did was against the law. That is not my opinion, that is a fact. It is not xenophobic to expect my government, which takes plenty of my money, to enforce their own laws. I have no problem with immigrants of any origin, but I have a problem with people acting like the law does not apply to them because of their status as a minority.

It just goes to show that 99% of you wouldn't be much better than the people we have in office right now.
- bigj480, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2No, there is a difference. The health of our economy and the survival of the middle class is dependent on this issue. Most people on this site are in the middle class and they have reason to worry. The politicians are worried about making more money, even thought they are rich, we are worried about making enough to live. Should we just allow all of our tax money to go to illegals? Do you not realize that this amounts to theft by government? Should we increase taxes and give the illegals more money? How about "free" health care? You must love for the politicians to take your money by force and give it to illegals. By your logic, we shouldn't have a problem giving all of our money away to illegals. After all, if we do we are just like the corrupt politicians who sell us out. Your point is illogical. Our tax dollars are to be spent on things that we want to fund and it is our RIGHT to disagree with those in power.
- Lukas2000, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You're taking an extreme scenario and trying to prove your point with it. Of course it wouldn't be reasonable for the government to give all of our tax money to illegals or any other singular cause. However, it doesn't make sense for people to complain about such a small percentage of their tax dollars that is going toward something that may in fact be helping people (granted a sub-human form of people referred to as "illegals") when most of your money is going toward funding wars and corrupt foreign regimes.
If you're giving a dollar in taxes and 50 cents of it goes toward a war while about half a cent goes toward helping your neighbor who may have committed the minor crime of dreaming he and his family could have a better life in this country, then you really have to be morally destitute to complain about the half a cent.- bigj480, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1 I would do away with both. I don't agree with the war or the stealing of my "half a cent". It's about principle. Theft is theft, no mater how small. What if I took a cent from everyones bank account? That is only one cent, 50 cents of your taxes go towards the war. Would it be wrong of me to do that? I would be extremely rich and it wouldn't hurt you much. No, it's wrong and illegal for an individual to do but people don't feel the same way if the government does it.

- str3ama, on 10/11/2007, -32/+11you whine about jobs being taken away, but how many legal Americans would really be willingly to do all the gutteral jobs that illegal immigrants do?
All I'm saying is that illegal immigrants help us do the jobs that no one wants or is willing to do in the first place. Let them stay here and do those jobs - but don't let them take jobs that can be filled by legal citizens. So construction work, etc should be discouraged against illegal immigrants, but jobs like farming, janitorial, etc should be left available for them. If an illegal immigrant shows an effort of contributing, then make the a legal citizen - let them have job security, and hell earn taxes from that job. There's no need for deportation of some of these migrants, who are readily willingly to work and are doing so not out of spite for the Americans, but because of economic problems in their homeland.- joe90210, on 10/10/2007, -4/+19why would americans not be willing to do those jobs? illegals get work not because they do jobs that americans aren't willing to do, but because they're willing to do them at a unfairly low wage that average americans can't live on.
- sodade, on 10/10/2007, -8/+3so NOW you want to support minimum wage laws because it helps your arguement?
- jcm267, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5He didn't say that. A free market would do that, too. The only problem is that illegals are willing to pack into apartments like sardines, share beds with many others (taking shifts sleeping several at a time), and get by on whatever they can get. In my area, that means they wear work uniforms and the free shirts given to them every few months from my place of work, and eat ungodly amounts of food at the company's free buffet.
I still can't believe it seeing groups of thin, short Chinese people with a plate stacked high with rice, another one with a huge stack of tomato slices and a pile of sweet potatoes, a salad bowl with 5 or so oranges in it, a bowl of "congee soup", a salad (which they douse with hot water, oddly), and another plate stacked high with a variety of meats and veggies.... and usually eat it all (or close to it) in their one hour sitting.
These people have a different standard of living from the rest of us.
Americans would refuse to work for the wages a lot of illegals are getting, regardless of any minimum wage laws.
- jcm267, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5He didn't say that. A free market would do that, too. - leogodin217, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12You are incorrect. You should be saying "illegal immigrants help us to do the jobs that no one wants or is willing to do for very low pay" All of these jobs were being done by Americans before illegal aliens came in and started doing them for much less money. American's will do almost any job when fairly compensated.
- Monk22, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2except the glaring fact the unemployment rates for low skilled (read high school educated) workers have gone up while the other segments have gone down. now what has happened that could cause low skilled workers not to be able to find work. hmmmm. maybe a flood of illegals taking their jobs and working for half as much?
- RedHerringHack, on 11/10/2007, -0/+19You gotta be joking. Illegal immigration is driving down pay, driving up insurance and taxes and closing hospitals. If I had to feed my family, I would any old crappy job, but I can't because the illegals have taken them all and the employers are in collusion with them. Enforce the fracking laws. The "does jobs no one else would do" argument is BS.
With your plan there would be "second class" citizens here. Thats not america. - OG1502, on 10/10/2007, -11/+3I'm a citizen on the US and I completely agree with you. Immigrants are hard working people who deserve the right to work, even if man's laws do make them "Illegal".
- santiago1, on 11/10/2007, -3/+11Make the Welfare and Food Stamp program a maximum of 1 month to help get back on the feet, then no more. Once they (lazy Americans) realize they can no longer leach off the government for their cigarettes, booze, and lottery tickets, they may actually be more inclined to go for those jobs that everyone says no one wants to do. If you're hungry enough, you won't mind mopping the floor and cleaning the toilets if you know it puts dinner on the table, especially if there are children depending on you...
- DreKor, on 11/10/2007, -5/+7Capitalism sure is a bitch sometimes. It is not an employer's job to see that their employees are fairly compensated, it is their job to get the best return on their investment. Employees have the same responsibility to themselves. They should be looking for the most money for their time and skills. These desires are inherently incompatible. Of course companies are going to hire illegals to do jobs for less than Americans.
- sj200, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Oh blow it out your shorts. Why would anyone hire a legal American when there are so many illegals running around willing to work for very little and zero benefits. Been to a home depot lately?
- Kewlduderules, on 11/10/2007, -0/+10Your statement is incorrect. Are you aware that there is growing hostility toward Mexicans from the African American community? Do you know why?
If not, I will tell you. They are taking their jobs and they are angry. Look at what is happening in Los Angeles. Americans do want the jobs. It is just that corporate interests want cheap labor and want to make a bigger profit.- Monk22, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1as i mentioned above the unemployment rate for high school educated/low skill jobs has risen while the other segments have fallen.
- bigj480, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Oh yeah, "the jobs that Americans wont do"™. The idea that no Americans will do the jobs that illegals do is ignorant. Who did those jobs before them? The truth is that we wont do them for slave wages and companies actively seek illegals while dismissing citizens. This is why there are law firms that specialize in complying with the law just enough to allow companies to hire immigrants. Even if they were the only ones who would do the jobs, that wouldn't excuse them from following the law. Are you really ready to allow laws to be broken for economic gain? I'm sure that you are the same type of person that complains about corporate crimes. Hypocrisy at it's best.
- antisthenex, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4We aren't whining about illegal immigrants. We're whining about illegal immigrants getting welfare. I agree with you, but you're missing the point of the post.

- gimpbully, on 10/10/2007, -8/+4xenowhat?
- Kewlduderules, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Actually, the world bank and the IMF are partly responsible for this mess with Mexico by giving them huge loans that they were obviously going to default on. Because of this, arrangements were made for international industry to come in and exploit the country's resources. And American business too went into Mexico and drove out domestic industry- source of cheap labor. Mexican businesses could not compete. So now you have a lot of international business, little domestic industry, little corporate taxation (if any) in Mexico, meanwhile, a large portion of the country's income is paid to service the loans from the IMF and World Bank.

interesting how people here fear to spend approx. 0.2 cent a month for some welfare - and at the same time ignoring the $ 150 they pay every month for the sh1t that GWB is responsible for.
Funny world. Dumb people.- MeauxToo, on 10/10/2007, -5/+12There is, of course, the other category that want to stop spending the 0.2 cents for welfare AND the $150 for the GWB sh1t. One penny of tax dollars going to people who are braking the law is wrong. It undermines the rule of law in the same manner as lying about intelligence, outing a NOC, warrentless wiretaps, and the modification of this vote. Tell me how the rule of law is a dumb notion?
One other point -- we don't fear these immigration policies. We are simply enraged by them.- sodade, on 10/10/2007, -5/+3When the law is not ***** pragmatic - that's when the rule of law becomes a "dumb notion."
Why do you people whine with such vigor over that .02 cents?
Personally, I am all for giving the lower tier of our society a ***** handout if it keeps them fat, happy and not brining down my castle because they have nothing to lose.
Pragmatism FTW!- bigj480, on 11/10/2007, -1/+4People like you, who feel that giving hand outs to those who are "disenfranchised" will motivate them to get out of their situation, should be allowed to gave as much as you would like to them. People like me, who realize that giving handouts to people takes away from their drive to improve their situation should not be FORCED to give our money to them. That would be forced charity, otherwise known as theft. Giving handouts to people only creates people who depend on your handouts. What else would you expect?
- xtraa, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Good point but what about giving the money but only under additional requirements. No one would like to waste a cent for people who are not willing to work. But that is not the case if there are restrictions. More money means more consumption and investments, means more income and jobs. If you don't have money to spend, then this chain will never happen.
- MeauxToo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2If a law is not pragmatic, you change it, but you follow it until that time. You do not disregard it. Your position is identical to the justification used by the Bush administration to illegally wiretap US citizens without a warrant -- FISA failed to recognize modern technology and meet pragmatic efforts to fight terrorism, so we disregarded it. The rule of law is not an abstract notion -- it is the bedrock of our society. Without it, you don't need the lower tier of society to bring down your castle. It can simply be taken from you because it no longer belongs to you.
- bigj480, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1 Every time I try to reply to xtraa's post I get a message stating "Your session has expired, please refresh the page before commenting." even though I can reply to everyone else. Anyway, I'll reply here. It would be fine to give your money to a charity that puts restrictions on it's recipients, but not for the government to make you give to such a charity. Again, that is theft. It also does not boost the economy. A dollar is a dollar no matter who spends it and I can spend my money just fine, thank you.
- bigj480, on 11/10/2007, -1/+4People like you, who feel that giving hand outs to those who are "disenfranchised" will motivate them to get out of their situation, should be allowed to gave as much as you would like to them. - pitlord, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Digging this down because you are an idiot. We spend more federal tax dollars on social services and entitlements than any other category including our military.
Check out this graph:
http://www.federalbudget.com/
We spent $1.3 TRILLION dollars on Social Security and Health and Human Services, the two biggest entitlement programs in the world. WE SPEND MORE ON THESE WELFARE PROGRAMS THAN WE DO TO PAY THE DEBT AND RUN OUR WHOLE MILITARY!
So, if we stayed with your example, it'd more accurate to say we spend 0.02 cents per month on welfare and 0.01 cents, "they pay every month for the sh1t that GWB is responsible for."
That is why you are being dugg down.
X^P- xtraa, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1pitlord,
then something must went wrong because you do not even have an expensive federal healthcare system. Interesting. Must be an error in the system somehere. Maybe it's because it is so expensive to pay all the people that are going to jail, > because they get criminal due to the lack of income?
Or maybe it's because you can't push the economy with the expenditures of poor people, because they simply have nothing that they could spend, or invest or something to start their own business from.
- xtraa, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1pitlord,
- MeauxToo, on 10/10/2007, -5/+12There is, of course, the other category that want to stop spending the 0.2 cents for welfare AND the $150 for the GWB sh1t. One penny of tax dollars going to people who are braking the law is wrong. It undermines the rule of law in the same manner as lying about intelligence, outing a NOC, warrentless wiretaps, and the modification of this vote. Tell me how the rule of law is a dumb notion?
- vSuperLuminal, on 10/10/2007, -27/+38***** corrupt Democrats or "NeoCrats" as I like to call them. Now that people are tired of the corrupt Republicans, I guess it is time to go back to the corrupt Democrats. I would much rather have the Republicans in power because, although they are corrupt, at least they allow citizens to keep a larger share of their hard-earned money and they are for smaller goverment. Smaller government means that there are fewer corrupt politicians. Why don't people get this? Oh, right, some idiots actually believe that the NeoCrats are altruistic. *****' idiots...
- lpmiller, on 10/10/2007, -2/+24Being for smaller government, and actually giving us a smaller government, are two separate things. The republicans have never actually made government smaller. They only make the parts they don't like smaller, while increasing things like corporate welfare. Both parties suck.
- Smiths, on 10/10/2007, -3/+16Do you think The Department of Homeland Security is a great example of smaller government working for you?
- BobMysterioso, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7You're being dugg down, but thats just silly. The DHS is an umbrella organization that is the largest government entity in the history of our government. - torrange, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9I have to say that I am neither a democrat or a republican. I like to think for myself, study the issues, then make an informed choice - what a concept.
I am not sure what smaller government you are speaking of? If you mean adding numerous agencies and programs for our protection like the republicans did, you need to get your facts straight. oh yea, Bush did reduce the size of the military presence in Iraq by giving Billions of dollars in contract to private contractors. Great move, let's support our troops by taking maintenance and food service from the military and giving it to private civilians. - LANopticx, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4The previous posters completely overlooked "allow citizens to keep a larger share of their hard-earned money". Is it because they can't refute this? Or is it because they are too busy giving their money to illegal aliens and talk about how that isn't really the issue anyway, bush bush bush.
- torrange, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I think about keeping my hard-earned money every time I go to the gas pump.

- bwdigg, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5"at least they allow citizens to keep a larger share of their hard-earned money..."
Huh??? Do you have ANY IDEA of how much debt the current administration has run up in YOUR NAME? That will have to get paid, and by YOU. The only way taxes were lowered was by not paying debts that were being rung up. There was certainly no reduction in spending during the Republican reign.

Also, you should know that illegal immigrants in the U.S. break the law and enter the U.S. because the law effectively bars them from entering the country legally. To go into the U.S. looking for work is itself a reason for denial of entry, as is poverty or lack of property in one's own country. When your fathers entered this country, they did so looking for a better life. People in need of a better life can no longer hope to enter the U.S. legally, so think about that before you call it disgusting to give them welfare.- sean65, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Don't like it here because you can't make a living? Go home. The US accepts immigrants every year, but you have to get in line and do it lawfully. If an immigrant does not want to follow the rules on the way in, then how can they be expected to follow the rules once they are here?
