- nblsavage, on 10/21/2007, -14/+246It's one thing to use that kind of force if lives are in danger but to shoot an unarmed woman and then ***** laugh about is rotten.
- JackBurden, on 10/21/2007, -18/+223Nonviolent protesters are "scurrying cockroaches" to the big bad men in the Miami PD?
I can just imagine the redcoats saying similar things before we kicked them the hell out of our country, or before we killed them in the process of kicking them the hell out of our country. Either way that attitude is unamerican as hell. - FRANKeB, on 10/21/2007, -16/+123Take THAT citizen scum! Corporate Fascism Benito Mussolini style. History repeats itself just in time for those old enough to remember are too old to complain.
- neoblaque, on 10/21/2007, -14/+97Want to complain? Here you go.

Apparently the Mayor is too busy to have contact with his citizens. But then he looks like the jerks in the video anyway.
BTW - I normally fully support the police and the hard work they do, but this is inexcusable. - lordtyros, on 10/10/2007, -26/+101***** the police.
- theNazz, on 10/21/2007, -14/+84These ***** cops can go ***** themselves. They better pray that they never need the assistance of the general public.
- 1773nium, on 10/10/2007, -10/+73Yep, cops are dicks. What's new?
- fpcyber, on 10/10/2007, -11/+67I'm sure the judge will be laughing after he carries out the officer's sentencing (if any).
- UnFriendlyFire, on 10/10/2007, -5/+58What exactly were they defending/protecting?
- jmpeagle, on 10/10/2007, -7/+52when do you need the police? They are crime janitors and come only after a crime is committed. Your first line of defense is yourself.
- torpedoes83, on 10/10/2007, -3/+44This is the way nonviolent protests turn into violent protests.
- GRTWHT, on 10/10/2007, -18/+58Sadly, this sort of behaviour and attitude is VERY American - we, as a society, have always condoned and even encouraged 'bullying' in every form.
I agree that it SHOULD be against all that our country represents, but it's not... - adgreene, on 10/10/2007, -14/+50"Cops shoot protester in the head with a rubber bullet - then laugh about it". Then it was posted on Digg and they laughed about it too.
- benitojuarez, on 10/10/2007, -17/+50This was ALL OVER digg when it happened, and its youtube, it should be in the video section.
- viewtiful4ever, on 10/10/2007, -3/+32This happens way too often. In NYC a cop called me a "***** fag" and I filed a complaint which got nowhere.
- ronito, on 10/10/2007, -4/+33Yeah. Just like in Iraq. You never hear about the cars that don't blow up.
- tzonic, on 10/10/2007, -16/+43I love how its oh so obvious when a PIG is slumming on Digg. Oink!
- wendelgee2, on 10/10/2007, -5/+27Double *****. Ask any rightwing conservative what they think of protesters and you'll hear that they are part of the "Blame America First" crowd. To them, all protesters are Kent State hippies, and the only good protester is a counterprotester. I've heard it firsthand when I was out protesting this stupid war, and when I went to protest the RNC in 2004 in NYC..."they should lock them all up" they said (and by "they" I mean conservative acquaintances).
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -14/+36Will he also be banned for using wallhacks and possibly an aimbot?
- bmc31190, on 10/10/2007, -7/+27"still horrible what happened but its thier job to defend/protect..."
Who exactly was the lady in the red jacket attacking? The cops caused more harm than she could have. - Duchest, on 10/10/2007, -6/+25Coming straight out the underground?
- Authustian, on 10/10/2007, -7/+26Let this be a lesson to all you would be protesters of totalitarianism, bring live grenades.
- sundancekid503, on 10/10/2007, -6/+23I think everyone already complained almost a year ago when this was originally all over digg.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+19and they wonder why the 'scurying coakroaches' dont like them
- siszam, on 10/10/2007, -4/+20Until you need them right? What bull. The police are public servants paid with our tax dollars. It is their job to serve us. They aren't doing us a favor when they are called. They are earning their salary! They could do their duty without abusing us and violating our rights but then, that would require them to be more than criminal scum with badges.
- johnpaul191, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17one mother with a cardboard sign scared the ***** out of a few hundred SWAT-looking cops, so they had to shoot her. TWICE.
go mom! - RaviChopra, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18Baloney. Without the armor, badge, and guns, they'd be unemployable bums living in a van down by the river.
- whoaminow, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18Banned? You mean a promotion?
- invisiblesun, on 10/10/2007, -11/+26In the spectrum of decency: What some of these police did was horrible, but at the same time, what you said is horrific as well. Digg users need to grow up.
- wishninja, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17need them for what? I don't need them for anything. Hell the only time I have ever needed them is when I was being robbed and they didn't come until two hours later and barely took a statement and never did anything again.
- KataLieb, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16Yeah, she was walking away from the cops...and besides, ITS A BASIC GODDAMN RIGHT IN THE USA TO PROTEST ABOUT WHATEVER YOU FEEL LIKE PROTESTING, without GETTING SHOT IN THE HEAD!
Free Speech Zones? Hell yeah, thats some FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY!
Heil Bush! Heil The National Flag and The Fatherland! - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16so? if a cop is doing his job, that's good. if a cop is NOT doing his job, and especially doing it wrongly, violently, or unconstitutionally, that needs to be resolved immediately and thus gets the attention it needs for that to happen.
yes, i agree, it's worth honoring and recognizing the cops that do their job properly. but don't bury the stories where things are done wrongly. publicizing them is the only way to get the mistakes in our system fixed. don't measure how good cops are by the #good incidents/#bad incidents it doesn't work like that. it's more important that #bad is kept to a minimum by fixing problems and getting rid of bad cops that can't do their job. - johnpaul191, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13When Jello Biafra (singer of the Dead Kennedys) ran for the Mayor of San Fran in 1979, he had a kind of brilliant idea (not sure where he got it). he said that like judges, local police had to be re-elected in their districts. as impossible an idea as that may seem, it would have *some* sort of major impact on how police behave towards citizens.
- psion01, on 10/10/2007, -3/+15They took up arms against unarmed, non-violent protesters who were engaged in their Constitutional rights of assembly and free speech.
Get a clue. - psion01, on 10/10/2007, -16/+28*****. We don't condone and encourage bullying. Outrage against abuse of authority goes back to the founding of this country and even beyond that. Media, a reflection of cultural values, routinely depicts bullies as cowardly and ultimately beaten by brave underdogs or humble superiors. But bullies are out there, from schoolyards to urban streets to rural farms. And power is a lure to them. The idea of having a gun and a badge and official sanction to tell people what to do must smell like raw meat to a vulture.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -5/+16Those cops have such high self esteem that they must make fun of civilians...because they know without their armor, badge, and guns that they would be just like us.
- DDRSkata, on 10/10/2007, -3/+14A young ***** got it bad 'cos I'm brown.
- corwin155, on 10/10/2007, -8/+19cops are there to protect you lol
most cops are bad cops there needs to be civilian watch group over them period - faithfreedom, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13Vote for Rudy if you want more things like this
- sealbeater, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11They have the authority to abuse a minority
- biggles7268, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10right why bother acting like a professional and doing your job properly. who needs that ***** anyway.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12yeah what's up with that. a greyhound employee was extremely impolite to me once and i filed a complaint and got an apology in the mail. i'm sure the employee got a talking to. how come this doesn't happen with cops...
- scabbers, on 10/10/2007, -13/+22Added: August 18, 2006
- brutalentropy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10That's not quite how it works. The cops are representatives of the state and, as such, have to abide by a strict social contract regarding their interaction with free citizens. Perhaps you've heard of this constitution we have?
- joshblufs, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Yeah.. The officer's sentencing....... Is this your first day on this planet?
- corwin155, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10or in prison cause w/o the cop garb they cant bully and mistreat people
- UtopiaInTheSky, on 10/10/2007, -8/+17Ah yes, our military police doing what they do best.
- Firehed, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Who needs the general public when they have guns and radios that connect them to people with bigger and more guns?
- johnpaul191, on 10/10/2007, -8/+16***** scumbags. ***** Miami.
- nwskipro, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10still, there is conclusive evidence that excessive force was used against this lady. the police statement says nothing about this lady being violent or out of control and thus there is no need to shoot her once let alone three times, one of those in the head which lucky for the officer, hit her in her forehead. i know of plenty of ways to get a middle aged woman to the side of the street before having to shoot her. sure there may have been other protesters getting out of control but the use of rubber bullets in this case goes way too far. this is what makes me feel sorry for this country. this shows just how many ***** up police officers we have (notice i am not saying all officers are this way) and whats the deal with nothing being done to any of the officers. that tape is disturbing.
