- SheilaNoya, on 05/16/2008, -12/+100Hagee actually supports the Jews, but only to the extent that they are needed to fulfill the End Times bible prophecy. He needs the Israelites to return to the "Holy Land" so Armegeddon can get started and Jesus can return (his belief, not mine). Hagee claims any Jews who then accept Christ will be forgiven, but the ones who don't convert to Christianity will burn in hell for all eternity.
Needless to say, many Jews welcome the support of the evangelicals in helping them recapture the Holy Land, but they also know that the evangelicals plan is to toss them aside (or send them straight to hell) once their goal is achieved.
McCain needs the evangelicals on his side because they want to start bombing Iran. That alone is enough to scare the hell out of me and tells us all what McCain has in store for the future. - SheilaNoya, on 05/16/2008, -4/+64McCain DID seek out Hagee's endorsement. Just wanted to make that clear.
- Lilitou, on 05/16/2008, -13/+69I would love to know why the MSM hasn't been all over Hagee the way they've been all over Wright. Oh, of course. Hagee's not an Angry Black Man.
- buddhaplex, on 05/16/2008, -15/+62This country is in the hands of the American Taliban, and we have to stop it!
- mentallyinhell, on 05/16/2008, -8/+41Jesus was Jewish! Seriously. Get off your high horse.
- omgTHEPATRIOTS, on 05/16/2008, -19/+51I get a real bad feeling anytime the Israelis trust any hardcore Republican or rabid foaming at the mouth apocalyptic Christian, as if some of these psychos have some grand master plan that they've been guiding to destroy them all along. These guys make me sick!
- GhostyBoy, on 05/16/2008, -15/+38Let's see:
Misinterpreted information stated as fact over and over? Check.
Tons of idiots read it and then base moronic opinions on it? Check.
Almost completely devoid of verifiable factual information? Check.
So how exactly is the bible different than the internet? - ProfessorSYM, on 05/16/2008, -2/+22Except that John McCain has said on record that he accepts Hagee's endorsement.
- ProfessorSYM, on 05/16/2008, -1/+21He separated himself from him, yet he still accepts his endorsement?
"When asked in an exclusive "This Week" interview with George Stephanopoulos if it was "a mistake to solicit and accept his endorsement", McCain replied "oh, probably, sure." Despite admitting his error, McCain made clear he's still "glad to have his endorsement."

- muckemuck, on 05/16/2008, -0/+13There's an article here http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/02/29/mccain-ref ...
you need to read.. if foxnews ever fixes their site. Or you can google "mccain hagee refuses" and view the cached version. .. it shows that McCain DID NOT separate himself from Hagee when he learned of the endorsement. He defended him. - blinkatron, on 05/16/2008, -2/+14I just don't understand why people get all worked up about Obama's former pastor's comments... but not this guy's... and why does this get no MSM coverage? mind boggling...
- mayhemchaos, on 05/16/2008, -0/+12And for that matter, his name was Yeshua
- stfucupcake, on 05/16/2008, -8/+19It's a fear-based, end of time brand of Christianity that Hagee preaches. It must be spreading within evangelicals as even my own mom started lame the 'Cain -vs- Abel' argument with me. Barf.
Using selective old-testament quotes they demonize Arabs and align American Churches with Israel -- the end goal being adding Christian $$$ to prop up Israel.
What Hagee and others promote is a feel-good outlook toward Israel that is completely removed from the realities of it's ongoing terrorist agenda against the Palestinians. Seriously, Christians ought to be more skeptical of this sheep in wolf's clothing.
And, don't give me that CRAP about Israel having historical ownership of the land. If that held true then everyone ought to start clearing out of the USA as the Indians 'were here first'. - muckemuck, on 05/16/2008, -0/+9"John McCain defended his endorsement from evangelical pastor John Hagee Friday, balking at a request to denounce the San Antonio megachurch leader given his past controversial statements about Catholicism." .. from Foxnews.com 2/29/2008
- jaymzdean, on 05/16/2008, -8/+17Christian Zionists think it is required to redesign the Middle East on Israel's behalf, triggering the Battle of Armagedon, thereby giving Jesus the go-ahead to come again and the rapture.
Here's a Patriot Jew's mini-documentary on the dangerous bunch...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjMRgT5o-Ig - RabidAngel, on 05/16/2008, -2/+11Just why would an omnipotent being who created everything, knows everything, and can do everything actually give two ***** about who is standing where when he decides to come back and lay the smack down? Would a God really have to recruit the help of a total douchebag like Hagee - or anyone, for that matter - to get things done? Puh-lease. What a ***** idiotic thinking process.Oh, wait... we are talking about religion.
- RobotCitizen, on 05/17/2008, -1/+9*****! Jesus was American, and he drove a kickin' Camaro!
- inactive, on 05/16/2008, -0/+8By appearing in public with Hagee, it's at least an implicit endorsement of Hagee by McCain.
- Hetman, on 05/16/2008, -0/+7Old news. Everyone knows hagee's is a bigot. We knew that since like 2001 if not before. ***** the dewd was falwell's right hand man and we know how big of a bigot falwell was.
- NikoKun, on 05/16/2008, -3/+10I just can't believe people are still crazy enough to believe in such non-sense...
- blindhammer, on 05/16/2008, -1/+7The only problems are that:
1. This doesn't address sanctioning slavery.
2. This doesn't address physical violence.
Thanks for trying. - dinostabOMG, on 05/16/2008, -5/+11Fewer lolcatz
- DaDrake, on 05/16/2008, -19/+25"McCain DID seek out Hagee's endorsement. Just wanted to make that clear."
I just want to make clear that you are omitting some fairly important facts. First, the "seeking" of the endorsement was done by a staffer, who often call all republican/political leaders in an area asking for endorsement. Secondly, when it became clear to McCain what his position was... McCain said he didn't agree and separated himself from him. - GhostyBoy, on 05/16/2008, -4/+10So what's a real biblical scholar?
Some retarded evangelist asking for money? The Vatican idiots? How many times has this ridiculous book been mistranslated and warped in order to further someones political agenda?
Here:
Lick my balls. - Mathew 3:18 - inactive, on 05/16/2008, -24/+30We really need to stop attacking candidates on the people who endorse them. This is really not fair to them. If the candidate has actively sought out the endorsement of a person, then it is fine, but unsolicited endorsements should not be attacked.
- monsieurginger, on 05/17/2008, -1/+7Israel has controlled the old city of Jerusalem since 1967. If they wanted to knock down al-Aqsa mosque ( or the Dome of the Rock), wouldn't they have done it by now?
- theocracylooms, on 05/16/2008, -8/+14Would you say that if Hagee were a Neo-Nazi or KKK member ?
Well, Hagee's views on Jews are really not so different from the views of such people.
McCain's a public figure - public figures are judged by their political associations, and for McCain to appear in public with Hagee amounts to a sort of tacit endorsement, from McCain, of Hagee.
There's no endorsement without responsibility. - guabancex, on 05/16/2008, -1/+6"Show me your. friends, and I tell you who you are..."
- fishizza, on 05/16/2008, -2/+7C'mon now everyone knows religion was invented to control the masses. It only applies to weak-minded and fear-ridden people. Sounds like the guy giving these sermons is sub-human to me.
- bjornski, on 05/16/2008, -1/+6Think they care? They think they'll get to see Jebus.
- inactive, on 05/16/2008, -3/+8I want to see what they say when Jesus doesn't show up - maybe they'll go away.
- hdberk, on 05/16/2008, -6/+11Oh wait... this is about McCain. You won't see this played over and over on the news.
- synaesthete, on 05/17/2008, -0/+5Interesting how anti semitic Neo-Nazi comments like EmperorTitus' here get dugg up in an article decrying antisemitism.
Oh, theyre just decrying Mccain, not actual antisemitism(as they dont care that Ron Paul is endorsed by all the white supremacist and Neo Nazi groups.) - breadfred, on 05/16/2008, -2/+7Only if you choose Him to be. If you believe in him, you automatically 'subscribe' your thoughts to what he is supposed to be. So it is is, really, a self-fulfilling prophecy. It works for believers. It doesn't for people like me, who rely on science.
- wliebkem, on 05/16/2008, -5/+10Wright became an issue because he converted Obama to Christianity, married him, traveled with him on campaigns, was the core of Obama's spiritual advisory team, baptized Obama's children, was Obama's pastor for 20 years, and who provided the title for Obama's second book. To say that he had a large influence on Obama's thinking is an understatement. Some Americans are concerned about black liberation theology.
Hagee is someone who endorsed McCain. McCain has never been to one of Hagee's sermons. McCain's pastor is Dan Yeary, a laid-back guy who is probably like your priest or mine. Hagee endorsed McCain, but McCain did not endorse Hagee.
Obama has publicly stated that he rejects black liberation theology that Wright has consistent espoused for their 20 year association. That is to his credit, although the timing seems to suggest that he rejects it now for political expediency rather than out of principle (if out of principle, why did he stay in the church so long?). However, Wright himself clearly believes that Obama is just saying what he has to to pander as a politician. In fact Wright, who seems to have trouble being tactful or holding himself back, said so on national TV. Ouch!
It is reasonable to bring up both people. When you compare them and say that they are equivalent, thinking people and moderates will reject your comments as inane or unresearched. Sorry. - ostracize, on 05/16/2008, -2/+7I think Hagee is way off on Jeremiah 16:
15 but they will say, 'As surely as the LORD lives, who brought the Israelites up out of the land of the north and out of all the countries where he had banished them.' For I will restore them to the land I gave their forefathers.
16 "But now I will send for many fishermen," declares the LORD, "and they will catch them. After that I will send for many hunters, and they will hunt them down on every mountain and hill and from the crevices of the rocks. 17 My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from me, nor is their sin concealed from my eyes. 18 I will repay them double for their wickedness and their sin, because they have defiled my land with the lifeless forms of their vile images and have filled my inheritance with their detestable idols."
They (ie. the fisherman), will catch them (ie. the Israelites)...They (ie. the hunters) will hunt them (ie. the Israelites) down...I will repay them (ie. the Israelites) double for their (ie. the Israelites) wickedness...because they (ie. the Israelites) defiled my land (ie. the Holy land).
In other words, this prophecy is about *removing* the Israelites from the holy land for their sins, which occurred in 587 BCE, not bringing them back in 1948 CE. Verse 15 could be about the restoration of Israel in 1948 ("all the countries"), but 16-18 is definitely not. - getatmedigg, on 05/16/2008, -0/+5It's crazy. "Evil preacher seeks political influence to bring about the apocalypse."- It's like a plot straight from WB's old show 'Angel'. I think Hagee's organization CUFI is scary as hell-Its a real-life Wolfram & Hart. They want to do good by bringing the end of days for man. How can the US complain about overzealous theocracies when it's slowly becoming one?!
- blindhammer, on 05/16/2008, -2/+6Awesome!
I guess this means you beat your servants as though they were your children (Proverbs 29:19). Wait? You don't?
Well. Have fun in Hell. - artfiend77, on 05/16/2008, -0/+4Zeouch. Point taken. Digg down plz.
- pintomp3, on 05/16/2008, -0/+4even mccain knew it. he called them "agents of intolerance" back in 2000. he has since forgotten.
- Misinformant, on 05/17/2008, -0/+4I'll pass the word...
...that you're a ***** moron. - thursdayevryday, on 05/16/2008, -0/+4I was about to make the same comment as you, before I read the article that is. You see, the difference here (than from when Hamas "endorsed" Obama) is that McCain said he was glad that he was endorced by Hagee; he has made public speeches in which he mentions Hagee in a positive light (the video shows one).
I agree that people shouldn't judge a candidate just by those who endorse him, but in this circumstance there was mutual endorsement, where we must assume that McCain might even approve of what Hagee said about the Jews. - Infidelcastr0, on 05/16/2008, -3/+7Dear God, Yaweh, Jehovah, Allah, Flying Spaghetti Monster, Whoever...... save me from all these idiots that believe in you and their mindless eternal holy wars.
- Fordi, on 05/16/2008, -0/+4"Why do people laugh at Creationists?"
Just another good answer. - blinkatron, on 05/16/2008, -0/+4http://www.kansascity.com/449/story/617701.html
Clearly, McCain has some kind of relationship with Hagee, he met him in person to accept his endorsement... - Infidelcastr0, on 05/16/2008, -0/+4WHAT THE ***** IS WRONG WITH YOU.
- DaDrake, on 05/16/2008, -16/+20You honestly don't see the difference? First, McCain quickly separated himself from Hagee when he learned about this guy's history. Secondly, the only met once for 10 minutes while shaking hands. And, the endorsement was sought out by a staffer, who was instructed to get EVERY endorsement in the local community (this is common... staffers even try to get endorsements from PTA boards). Furthermore, McCain never called hagee his reason for joining politics and the foundation of political career.... he never called him his mentor... and he didn't personally know him for 20+ years (in fact... he didn't know him at all).
- masterm1nd, on 05/16/2008, -0/+4Are you joking?
- thecoolestguy, on 05/17/2008, -0/+4Hagee is a biggest Israel supporter in the world. He never stops talking about anti-semitism, how America must protect Jews, how the Catholic Church is the "whore" for its history of anti-semitism, how the US should bomb Iran to protect Israel, etc. Lieberman and Netanyahu both have attended his speeches and praised him. That is why Jewish nationalists in the media give him air-time.
The founding fathers would be aghast at what politicians have become:
"The nation which indulges toward another an habitual hatred or an habitual fondness is in some degree a slave .... The great rule of conduct for us in regard to foreign nations, is, in extending our commercial relations to have with them as little political connection as possible ...."
